My Aunty had 4 healthy boys and 2 m/c's. She was convinced that she couldn't carry girls.
I don't know if there is anything scientific to answer it, but it is an interesting thought.
Hi Guys,
I was out to lunch with friends and a couple of them mentioned that they had heard of others who were unable to carry boys due to hormone levels..... can this be true?
I just find it interesting - according to the ever scientific chinese birth chart both of my mc's would have been boys.
Not that i am searching for any answers, i am so happy to have this little one in my tummy, i cant help however to wonder if this "claim" is medically founded - has anyone else ever heard of this?

There is a very very rare condition that does cause the loss of certain sexes. I will have to look thru my library to tell you. But there is but it is extremely rare.
My mum has the condition that makes her unable to carry boys, my best friend has the same condition not sure what it's called though
wow - so it can be real. Naomi, Flowerchild, how would you find out if you had this condition, does anyone know how it "works".
Its so very interesting, i really never imagined....
I would have believed that last year - my sister had a son, then she miscarried a girl, then she had another son, then she had a girl that was stillborn. So it was looking like she was one of those people who could only successfully give birth to boys.. however.. she had a baby girl in March this year....
Still is definitely interesting though if people just miscarry a certain gender..
My nanna was unable to carry a girl it was due to my poppa's and her genes being to close. I don't know the name of it, although I've been told the stories many times. I know she had one girl who she carried to full term, but she died at the age of three, this is when she found out about it, I'll ask her and post in here when I find out more about it!
I have heard of some ppl not being able to carry certain genders and I sometime think maybe I can't carry boys... Don't know. But it is a horrible thought when you crave a certain gender.
My mum had 3 girls and 2 m/c and was told that she might not be able to carry boys. This was a long time ago so I'm pretty sure they couldn't do any tests to tell, so they were probably guessing. Interestingly my sister has a girl and a m/c so if mum did have it, maybe sis does too. Clearly I don't LOL!
This was around 20 or so years ago, and I don't know the full details, but I have an aunt who was unable to carry boys. I don't know whether it was because of the fact that she has severe PCOS, or whether it was something else that caused it.
They did testing and found out that every baby she lost was male, but she gave birth to two healthy girls in the end... and it scares me to think that those cousins of mine are now over 21!

My friend was told it has something to do with genes, i'll have to ask her exactly what her specialist told her, she has 2 girls and is pregnant with her 3rd, she has had 7/8 miscarriages and from what she's told me they were all boys
My MIL was only able to carry boys... she had 4 boys, miscarried a girl and then had a 5th boy.
I would believe it there's a genetic condition in my family that only affects males and I have one DD and another on the way so I reckon I can't conceive boys (I haven't had any miscarried boys though)
My mum had to have her reproductive system restructured to have my sister and I. She was given little chance to actually conceive but she did and we are considered miracles. She then fell pregnant again but miscarried and everything "fell apart" so she had to have a hysterectomy (sp?) (She actually died on the operating table but was brought back). She found out it was a boy and was told that she was unable to carry boys. They told her that even before her op that she would not have been able to carry boys.
Very interesting....really has be thinking now will i carry a boy this time..
I guess in 6-7 weeks ill know!
If you girls watch the other bolyen girl, Its about our history on the king and queens the wifes couldnt carry his sons but gave birth to daughters. They kept misscarrying on having still births.
only 1 wife carried a son, and he did have another son but wansnt married to the girl.
But, I def think that it is possible to only carry one sex. I'm almost to the point of thinking my 3 were boys (def had the msot feeling after I lost this baby he was a boy) that they were boys. Because my doctor couldnt find the cause of the miscarriage.
Yep I reckon it is possible to only be able to carry on sex and not the other.
I've had 2 miscarriages which I reckon were boys. I have a DD and I am currently pregnant again with another girl. I've had so many tell me during this pregnancy that they reckon I can't carry boys as well.
