    Low LH in luteal phase??

    Hi all,

I have been TTC for 8months, had a mc in Jan 08, had a chemical a couple of months ago and believe I conceived at least one other time that never turned up a pos. This month I am positive that I conceived, I felt implantation last Sunday. I went to have BT on Thurs at 9dpo and hcg level was only 2, so pg has failed again. My progesterone levels are 30.6 and estrogen 251, so I believe they are good but my LH is less than 1. The dr said this could be why I am having trouble implanting but wouldn't say more and has referred me to a FS. I have very regular 28 day cycles with O on day 14 every single time so I dont seem to have a luteal phase defect but really seem to have problems holding onto the babies.

Does anyone know what this means? How do LH levels affect implantation in luteal phase?

    Hi,

I think the low levels of LH should not interfere with actually sustaining the PG. LH is what helps in implantation and if that is happening you should not have a problem, although 1 is quite low. A friend of mine has the same problems as you, she can get pregnant but cannot sustain the pregnancy and has unfortunately had 7 m/c. What happens is that her progesterone (that which sustains pregnancy) bottoms out and she m/c. She got some fertility assistance where she recieved injections of pregnyl and daily blood tests. She is now 22 weeks PG!

If you are having low levels of LH, your other hormones may be out of balance too so it may be best just to get a little help. It sure does help with the anxiety and pain with each m/c. I hope that this helps a little but see your FS and work it all out and you should have a successful very soon! GOOD LUCK! Sending you lots of and

Thanks heaps for that Leanne. I guess I'd better go along the FS now and see what they can do for me.

    Hi Jodsan
So sorry for your lost angels
I think it probably is important that you see a FS. LH really only makes you ovulate and should not be responsible for pregnancy maintainance. Lh is only in your system for a very short time and depends on when they did your blood tests, LH generally only surges for the day of ovulation so 9dpo you wouldnt have much around. The other thing your dr should have told you is that you can have BT with <5 HCG and not be pregnant most women have small amounts in there system, thats why POAS are generally very sensitive but measure >25 HCG. Progesterone is the main one they want high for pregnancy maintainance and they usually like it to be over 30 (i think) when you are 7 days post ovulation so your numbers look good that regard. Hope this helps a little but really an FS will monitor you for a whole cycle to see what is going on. The really positive thing ( and i know it hard when youve lost babies, i could have ripped peoples heads off when they said it to me) but you can fall pregnant which gives you a really good head start. Good luck and hope you get some really positive results
