Have I made a mistake? Please tell me my new fringe looks OK...

I went to the hair dressers today to get a hair cut & get my blonde foils done as its been 14 months since I last had my hair done.

I decided to get a fringe as I used to have one & I was looking through old photos the other day & thought I looked good with a fringe. The photos were from 2 different times in my life, once was about 12 years ago when I was in high school & the other time was about 2.5 years ago while living in Townsville.

I picked up DS from MIL's house when I had finished as she watched him for me & she looked shocked when she saw me.
I laughed & said "You'll get used to it".
She said "What made you get a fringe?"
I said "I just wanted something different & I used to have a fringe & liked it"
She said "Oh I prefered you without one, I think a fringe doesn't look as mature"

    I just stood there speachless.

Please take a look at my photo & tell me I'm not nuts for thinking it looks Ok, I'm not after people to say "Oh you look gorgeous" etc... I know I don't look gorgeous, I just want to look, I suppose.. good?

    Here is my pic https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...hp?photo=10097
    Thanks for taking the time

I have my 10 year school reunion on this Sat night & don't want to look really crappy

i think it looks nice - and since when do you have to look "Mature" - I think I prefer it from the pic in your ticker - it makes you look younger but definitely not IMMATURE - what an Odd thing to say from MIL

PS - just noticed your age - 28 - you can definitely carry off a fringe!!

i think it looks good - you've changed hair color and made a change to your whole appearance! MIL is probably just used to seeing you one way - she'll get over it!

I think you have a face that can pull off a fringe. It looks great! And I think that was pretty rude of her to say. Like it affects her at all.

Phew! Thanks girls, I feel much better now!!

I think the reason she doesn't like me looking "younger" is because DH is 14 yrs older than me & looks older than what he is due to balding & I have been confused as being his daughter on occasions (He'd kill me if he knew I was telling you this!) but it hasn't happened for a few years & now that I think about it, it seems to have been happening mostly when I had a fringe LOL

    Oh well haha

I feel good now because my 3 yr old daughter has now named me her "twin" LOL & she's proud to call me her twin so that makes me very happy!
I just took a few photos of us together with our twin fringes hahaha I'll post them in a sec

It looks great (better IMO ). I got a fringe last year for the reason Nickel outlined......I wear my hair in mummy-style (ie. ponytail) alot of the time now, and I was sick of looking like I'd had all of 3 seconds to do my hair. I think a fringe takes away from that effect. Not that I look all glam now, but YKWIM!

Your MIL can go jump, she's probably just jealous!

At least your MIL noticed! My hair was done to my bum, I had it cut to just below my shoulders & she didn't say a word. Three weeks later (I had seen her once each week), she says "oh did you get your hair cut? It looks nice." LOL!
