Red face Help with clothes please!

I would love your help please ladies!

I am having a fat and bad hair day today I have not been spending as much time on myself as I would like so today I finally gave my eyebrows a good pluck and I bleached my teeth! So I am feeling a little better about myself! Tomorrow I am off to get my haircut and buy some new clothes!

I have been feeling pretty down about my clothes and myself lately and I hate it. I want to buy some cool new clothes that I can wear eveyday and that are comfy. Can you guys please suggest what I should look out for? I am a size 14/16 and carry a fair bit of weight around my middle. I have been wearing my maternity jeans since I had Oscar and I have had enough of it! They make me feel really fat

Any ideas would be very much appreciated!

I am also a 14/16 so know exactly how you feel!

Recently I bought a whole heap of new clothes from Jeanswest - I tend to find that alot of their tops are nice and long which is great as they dont continuosly creep up. They have some good basic v-neck and round neck tops that are long sleeve in black/white/purple and grey which I think are $20 each. I bought 3 as they are great by themselves or under jumpers. They also had a few jumpers in there which are nice although a lot of them have hoods which on jumpers I am not too fussed on. Their jeans are usually reasonably priced as well.

I also have some pants from a shop called Flower (dont know if you have that shop). They are 3/4 style and I saw them in their shop again last week. The great thing about these pants is that they are stretchy and so so comfy and the around the waistband it is a big fold-over, almost like maternity pants but they arent maternity.

Places like Target, Jeanswest, Just Jeans etc have some cool zip up hoodies which are comfy and look good with jeans etc. I find they are usually great for hiding your waist area and look pretty trendy too.

Ummm. Cant think of anything else right now but I hope that helps.

    Hi Oshani

Good time to go shopping when the sales are on!

If you're after another pair of jeans, I think there's a couple of threads on BB about how to buy a pair that fit/suit you but I think the best advice is to go to a place that has lots of different styles and try as many styles as possible but most importantly, styles that you would never normally choose.

Honestly, I tried a pair of straight leg (not skinny) jeans the other week, and it was a revelation.

Infact, my best buys are ALWAYS what I would never normally choose and usually because an assistant has cajoled me into trying on something that I wouldn't pick.

I used to absolutely live in trousers but I've just discovered that skirts actually suit me a lot better. And I just bought a Country Road wool skirt for $17 instead of $170 so that has made it onto my Bargain of the Century list.

The other thing I've been doing is working out my body shape and finding out what's meant to suit that. If you Google Trinny and Susannah body shapes, you'll find some tips.

But really, try on as many things as possible in lots of different styles and work out what suits you best and what's the most comfy.

Hmmm....Danni, not too sure as I know I'm in the same boat! My dream is a makeover with Trinny and Susannah!

Maybe check out their website for ideas? I did get a copy of their new book from the library titled 'the body bible' or something like that. GL and good for you!

    Thumbs up

I've gotta admit I buy a few of my clothes from OP shops ... but then we have about 25 of them here in Ballarat ... and you need have time to really look & just be in a shop at the right time for something you like & more importantly fits

I love wearing 3/4 jeans with cuff (they look great with black flat boots) ... the trick is to keep away from low-rise even some mid-rise jeans as everything can hang out over the top (even the slimmer gal's wearing them have muffin tops, augh )

BigW have long sleeved t.shirts with round or v-necks in Black, brown, purple, cobalt-blue, marle grey, red for only $10 each. They wash up great & don't go out of shape ... and cover the belly area. I'm sure 100% cotton. (I reckon I have about 4 of them)

When buying tops don't be tempted to get loose tops as it can actually make the tummy area bigger ... but nothing tight either ... Yeh, something in between & that sits past the waist & 'not' sitting on the waist

I love the zip-up hoodie-windcheaters for winter ... covers & seems to hold in the tummy brilliantly ... especially the stripped charcoal coloured Bonds brand (Kmart have on special sometimes) !!!!!!
