Hi ladies I did this in my slow cooker today - kind of adapted from a few different recipes and partly experimental lol. It worked out beautifully though
Morrocan Beef
500g steak (I used whole pieces of rump but you could use cubed chuck or even lamb chops)
1 tin crushed tomatoes
1tbsp tomato paste
1 onion, sliced
1-2 cloves garlic, sliced
3/4 cup stock (beef/chicken/or veg would be fine)
1 tbsp masterfoods moroccan seasoning
lemon zest to taste
good pinch of sugar
couscous
Throw everything into the slow cooker except couscous and cook on low for about 6 hours.
About 10 minutes before serving add the coucous (about 3/4 cup).
We had it with steamed carrotts and broccoli and garlic bread.
Turkish bread would go better but we didn't have any lol.
It was DELISH.
ooh yummy, I might try that with lamb. I have a feeling that I can't use the morrocan seasoning for some reason (maybe it had an animal by-product, I'll need to check the label) but I could bash a harrissa or la kama together and use that.
I bet it would be yummy with a bit of yoghurt on the side *drools*
I have a piece of beef in my SC, I was looking at the thread Sherie updated and came across the recipe for the piece of beef and you put gravy, french onion soup and beef cube over it with a cup of water, it sounds yummy so I`m giving that a go
Sounds yum Flea. DH bought heaps of couscous at the market today so soem Moroccan dishes are definitely on the menu.
Thanks for the update Sherie.
Dach - I made up my own Moroccan mix the other week when I needed some as I discovered I had the ingredients in the cupboard:
2 tblspns black peppercorns
1 tblspn coriander seeds
2 sticks cinnamon
20 cloves
1 tblspn cumin seeds
seeds from 4 green cardamom pods
2 tspns nutmeg
2 tblspns paprika
Grind whole spices to a fine powder and then stir in remaining spices.
Osso Bucco is a type of meat. Its a round piece of meat with a big hollow bone in it. It is DELICIOUS! Its an italian meal and italian word but you can get it from most butchers and its cheap
They're just little onions, ones that you can use for pickling. I couldn't find any when I made it so just cut up bigger onions. I guess you could use shallots too (the small onion type things not spring onions).
