Amelia I usually make a chunky vege soup in my SC.

    I do:

    2 potatos
    2 carrots
    2 celery sticks
    1 leek
    1/2 cup brocoli cut up
    1 can tomatos diced
    4 cups vegetable stock
    2 cloves garlic
    1/2 tsp grated ginger

I often throw in other veges if we have them, or mix & match with flavours. I put it all in the SC for 6 hours depending on how big I cut the veges. I also usually make a cup of rice and put 1/4 cup of cooked rice in the bottom of the soup bowl when I serve it.

Christy that sounds wonderful!!! I think I have some frozen brocoli and some jar ginger, I think yours sounds so much better then my throw together!! Lol....

Michelle - This is just for me for lunches. I hate bread and love my soups so that is why I have made so many already cause I freeze them and my mum pops round for lunch sometimes during the week cause she only works up the road!! DH hates soup besides Oxtail Soup!!

Chicken stock would be fine. You could also throw in some barley or lentils or a soup mix for some extra body. I like putting pumpkin in as it tends to fall apart and make the 'juice' extra tasty. Corn is also fantastic for another flavour. I've been going crazy on veg soups now that's it's got cold here in Melb. I can't stand a cold lunch when the weather's cold. Tomorrow's soup will be lamb shank, veg and butter beans...

Well DH rung when I was chopping up the vege's and he asked what was for dinner and I said I am having vege soup with rice and bacon (I took out some bacon and I will fry it up and add it later) and I said he has roast drumsticks and roast vege's. Well he has decided he wants soup now and roast drumsticks still but for me to rip of all the meat and add it to the soup!!

YAY I have another soup he likes!! (THANKS CHRISTY!!!!)

    Welcome Sueand...

Slow Cooker Recipes this is the thread where heaps of SC recipes have been put. After we finish a chatter threads a mod goes through & takes all the recipes and puts them in this thread. Its wonderful, most of winter I use the thread to go shopping & meals.

Hi girls, I can finally join in offically now, DH brought me my SC yesterday for our wedding anniversary, it's a Ronson 6lt.

I'm wanting to do a roast chicken and was wondering if I could put it in the SC frozen? Also how long to I cook it for?

    Thanks.

    hugs xoxo

I think there's lots of roast info in the recipe thread that Christy linked above. I'm pretty sure you can put it in frozen but I'm sure one of the girls will have more info.

I've just got back from the Vic Market and now have lots of things to cook up - osso bucco, lamb chops (saw something on BH&G the other night that I think will work), mince and diced pork plus some non SC yummies including beef spare ribs, lamb backstraps and eye fillet. Everything was half price so I'll have a full freezer again.

Does anyone have any ideas for the diced pork? I'll probably do a curry with 1kg so something different would be good. I've only just started cooking with this sort of pork since I've discovered the female pork at the vietnamese butchers (tastes different to me).

Thanks guys for your help with stroganoff. I might make that next week! I tried the buggered chops last week and DH and DD LOVED it. DD doesn't normally like chops, so that was a big plus!

Has anyone got a good pork chop recipe? I don't normally like pork chops as I find them a bit dry normally, but I'm thinking they might go well in the SC and DH loves pork chops.

Hmmm. DH loves sweet and sour, but I don't! Good idea though. I could make it on a night when I'm having curry (he hates curry). I've always told him I'm not making two different meals at night, but at least the SC does most of the job and all you have to do is clean it afterwards!
