Sex after vasectomy

Hey everyone,

Those of you whose man has had a vasectomy, did he notice a difference in sensation with sex? My man says he's not had the build-up since surgery and the sensation is mild.

Hope its just temporary....

DH has said he doesn't notice any difference, but had his many moons ago (10years or so)

I don't know a whole lot about vasectomies, but could it be psychological more than physical?

Is he interested before you start? DH's surgeon told him it's not unusual for men to be completely off the idea for a while, but that it's temporary. Could it be that he's just not feeling like it so he's not getting a full sensation?

How long has it been since the surgery?
DH treaded very carefully after his for the first couple of months because he's not the best with blood/cuts/surgery that sort of thing and, lets face it, it's a pretty sensitive area to see stitches in! Immediately post operatively he had a couple of faints too, so that didn't help his confidence.
After a while though we found the increased 'freedom' really liberating and the sex was much better post vasectomy. (Particularly after he'd gotten the 3-month all-clear from the surgeon.)
It really shouldn't make a difference in terms of 'build-up' physiologically, I'd've thought. He is still producing ejaculate and should still be ejaculating normally. Just without sperm. I would wonder too if it's a little bit psychological, if not in the same way as my DH was initially then maybe in another way?

ETA: possible nerve damage isn't necessarily permanent, though that would be very disappointing!

Dh wasn't exactly like that - he still had moment of soreness for probably the first 2 months and they would ache afterwards, but it didn't lessen his desire or ability to climax. It wasn't long after that and it was back to normal.

Its not desire or ability... its purely sensation based. Normally before an ejaculation there is that build-up, rush, tingle whatever you want to call it - intensity. But he doesn't get that any more, its more the motions of it happening with less feeling for him.

Maybe that might be something that will improve over time? Or is he able to really take the time to build up to a climax?

Dont know PZ, he's still sore and says sometimes it feels like its burning/chinese burn and that when he leans forward its like a golf ball is in his groin. I just hope they havent mucked up any nerves or anything

Oh he was up for it two days after!!!! Definitely keen to keep going with it all... Just not having the physical feeling of build up before ejaculation. He even stopped to listen out for the kids during the act and it just happened - he had no idea!!!!

Marydean I am the same, suggested he look at the local anaesthetic option but its what he and the surgeon preferred. Ah well.

Dh had a general with his procedure. No issues with climax even though he did get an infection afterwards.

Okay now there is an update. On one side where stitches are, there is a raised lump the size of a 10 cent coin - kinda like a mentos lol - and its a little weepy. Sound infected?
