Hey guys,

I'm looking for a basic cake recipe for a birthday cake. It is going to be the shape of a lego brick, and my friend who did a cake decorating course is coming over to put fondant on etc, I just have the make the basic cake.

I was thinking 1 layer vanilla, and 1 layer chocolate, with something in between to make them stick like Jam.

What is a nice tasty cake recipe to use? I want something a bit tastier than usual, but probably not too heavy or full on as it is for 5 year old boys, but I don't want to go to all the effort for them to take 1 bite either.

Also, if I make it Tuesday night (tonight) or Wed morning, for my friend to ice Wed evening, for a Thursday afternoon party, what is the best way to store it? Airtight container? Fridge? Freezer?
