I'll be watching this thread with interest, I tried a caramel popcorn recipe once and it came out soggy and bad. Not the lollygobble experience at all.

HOME COOKED - Julie Goodwin - Caramel Popcorn Recipe

    Caramel popcorn
    Serves 4
    Prep time: 5 minutes
    Cooking time: 15 minutes

    ¼ cup vegetable oil
    ½ cup popping corn
    125g butter
    ¾ cup caster sugar
    2 tablespoons golden syrup
1 cup salted mixed nuts or peanuts

Make the popcorn according to the packet directions, or use an air popper.

In a medium saucepan, combine butter, sugar and syrup and bring to the boil. Boil for 3-4 minutes.

Combine the popcorn and nuts in a large bowl. Pour over the caramel, and toss gently until all the popcorn and nuts are coated.

Place on a lined baking tray and allow to cool. Break into pieces and keep in a airtight container.

I've seen a recipe where you make your popcorn, then mix melted jersey caramels through it before putting it into patty pans. I thought that sounded yum!

baking the popcorn like you do with granola is what makes it go hard like the store bought stuff.

If you bake the coated popcorn on a cookie sheet with baking paper @ 120 C for about an hour tossing every 15 minutes (if it starts to brown then take it out, but this should give you that firm crunch like LGBB's have.
