No, there's no egg in it.

I just double checked that against the paper copy of the recipe I use to make it every time, and confirmed that.

Weirdly, it has never occurred to me that it is unusual not to have an egg.

If you can get a copy of the Women's Weekly Old Fashioned Favourites cook book, it has a fantastic self saucing pudding recipe

This is the identical recipe I use too and its awesome!!!!
My friend taught me how to make it,so I learned it from making it with her and didnt write it down - and every time I would make it at home I would hesitate and think, "Does it need an egg???" Until I finaly made it with her again and she didnt have any eggs, and yet we still made the awesome chocolate pudding!!! I still remember her sternly saying "You dont need eggs for chocolate pudding!!!"
I have made it with eggs though, - and it makes the pudding a little bit soggy!! But its still yummy!!!
We sometimes add some frozen fruit that has been soaking a yummy flavoured lequer or just serve it with cream and fresh berries!! Anyway you serve this pudding its yummy!!!
