Talking Simple, easy, fail safe, so a child can cook biscuit recipe, that a child can make!

My daughter loves to bake, problem is she cant! lol

After watching master chef jr, she became inspired to bake, but this is a 10 yr old that cant even follow directions on the easy mac properly lol

She recently made a successful lemon and cocconut slice, that her girlfriends mum taught her how to make so she came home and hubby bought her the ingredients and she after 3 hours had made.

So, she would like to bake biscuits for her brothers 3rd party in march, her birthday present to him, (thanks to a thread on bb, we got inspired to use a number 3 cookie cutter, and when i can find one a dinosaur) but i dont have a simple, easy, fail safe recipe, and when i googled i got some yummy but to hard for her recipes.

So whats your super easy, simple ingriedents bickie recipe that even a child can bake?

Check out the Frozen Cookie Dough thread, it is super easy and she should be able to do it no worries.

Perhaps help her by measuring out her ingredients first and get her involved by doing the measuring, teaching her how to use the scales and the cups and things.

ETA: This is the one here: Freezer biscuit/cookie dough recipes

The best way to do it. Is to make something like Cowgirl cookies (minus or add the add in ingredients you would or wouldn't like). Mix it all together in a jar and let her take the jar pour it out and add the oil and egg (I think?).

Cookies that require oil instead of butter are easier for kids, and they can be as basic or as difficult as you like.

My biggest suggestion is get out in the kitchen with her. Get yourself a BIG white board and write the directions out for her in SIMPLE terms. If you've got all the right tools she will be fine. TBH cookies next to cupcakes are the easiest things in the world to make.

My failsafe cookie recipe is choc chip, and it's literally 1/2 cup butter (left out to soften) the kids cut it up with the plastic lettuce knife, beat together with caster and brown sugar, then add the vanilla essence, self raising flour and choc chips. I get the kids to whisk the flour instead of sifting because sifting IMO is the work of the devil and only increases my blood pressure due to the mess factor LOL!

If you want my recipe let me know.

We do all the cooking together and as a result they can make this recipe on their own. We also have a stand mixer which makes it easier. We make the cookies in the size of "bouncy balls"

    Thanks for the replys
she is pretty good with doing all that stuff, comes and asks when needing help, just she isnt the best cook in the world, she has improved since making her lemon slice though! lol

she wants a recipie that she can roll out with a rolling pin and cut out using cutters rather than rolling in balls

My DS2 makes Peanut Butter Cookies which are so easy and taste great. Obviously if there are peanut allergies you wouldn't make them.

    Recipe

    1 cup Peanut butter
    1 cup Sugar
    1 Egg

Combine all the ingredients, roll into balls, press down slightly & cook.

It might seem like there are ingredients missing but there isn't. Everything comes together really well. We often add some choc chips to the mix just to make something a little different.
