    Her first concert tonight WAAAAHHHH!!!

I've just dropped DD off at a friends - they are off to Festival Hall to see Bullet for My Valentine.

I'll be picking her and friends up after the concert tonight (yawn), I hope they have a good time, I'm still getting over my reservations about the venue........Last time I was there is was to see Metallica , and the main thing I can remember was all the vomit.

Ahh the vomit... That brings back memories...
(although not of my first gig, I can't remember what it was!! I remember that it was at the Tennis Centre and I remember the pizza we got on the way home, but can't remember who we saw. Is that sad, or what..? It was probably someone really cringeworthy, I've probably repressed it)

    Hope she has fun!!

Mine was Cyndi Lauper so I'm not too embarrassed about it.

Did you happen to see Bros by any chance - cos that would be WORTH REPRESSING!!

Ooh no, but my best friend had a huge crush on Bros. I thought they were drips. Actually *hangs head in shame* it might have been Poison. How mortifying. (Hey, I was thirteen and it was the 80s, it could have been much worse)

It hit me the other day that in just a few years DD will be wanting to be heading off to the likes of the Big Day Out etc.

Poor bugger, will it be cool to be rocking wit her mumma? Oh i can only wonder, cos i cant see myself growing out of being a gig lover before she starts!!

She'll be fine LuLu, its pretty exciting actually!!

I KNOW i'm old now as the reason I prolly wouldn't be rockin with the DD is 'cos it's TOO LOUD .

Trillian - oh yes, saw Metallica many, many moons ago. In fact I went at the last minute as a friend called me on the night to let me know he had a spare ticket. He also had backstage passes (but none of those spare...). So we get there and I had to wait out the front for the boys to come back from backstage before we could all go in.

Well I got a bit scaredy cat being out the front by myself so I went and stood next to a security guard......pity about that as there WAS a backstage pass free, they came out to get me but I couldn't be found ....so I got to hear them all raving about watching Kirk Hammet eating spag bol before the show ggrrrrrrrr!

hehe, can't admit to seeing Bros, but I will unashamedly admit to loving them at the time LMAO. Suse, I would have gone to see Poison if I were older at the time.

Lulu, I am officially jealous!!! I would have been spitting chips if I were you and missed out on going backstage.

Hey Lulu ... Wow, being a teenager in Melb & given the chance to see a concert at Festival Hall is just brilliant

Well she had the time of her life - a little put off by the smelly moshpit though .

To paraphrase " Ah mum, it was totally AWESOME, the moshpit smelled gross but it was fun except for the old smelly guy next to me he had the worst BO and his arm kept touching mine I'm gonna scrub my arm till it bleeds he was so gross it was SO LOUD it was so cool Artreyu was cool but when Bullet came in everyone went mental and I nearly got squashed at the front so we had to go down the back when can I go to the next gig I'm gonna get a job tomorrow so I can go to every gig in the world......

I sortea faded out after that (yes she does talk that fast).

I remember sleeping out for G n R tix about 1989, the Bros concert had been on the weekend before. There were still marquees at the tennis centre, and some of the guys found a locked fridge full of beer - they "made" me reach up and get it 'cos I had such skinny arms.....aah the memories!

Awww, that's soooo, like, cool Lulu!!! () Sounds like she had a blast. Give it time though - she'll grow to love the smell of a good moshpit... or at least won't notice it so much. Assuming it was an all ages / alcohol free event, at least she didn't have to contend with the p***sed bloke not noticing that he was spilling his beer all down her back. I used to come home from gigs smelling like a brewery, and I don't even drink beer.

LOL at seeing the Gunners preggo LimeSlice - Euan's 'first' gig when I was five months pregnant was the Live Earth concert - we got free tickets. His dad was at Crowded House's last gig at the opera house, and we were all at their first gig reformed.

We wanted to go to a gig on Friday night, but it was at a non-baby friendly venue so not an option unfortunately.

Did he have a mullet Sammi?

I was at the same BDO as my future DP and saw his very nice bum wiggling across a crowded dance floor and thought, well, something rather gratuitous anyway, and was about to go and see whether that gratuitous thought was worth following up up on when he disappeared. Oh well, I thought.

We met and got together four years later and were out on a dance floor one night when I realised that this was the same very nice bum I had seen so many years ago (I recognised the wiggle). FWIW, it was worth following up on - we've been together six and a half years now!!

    Sorry, that was very OT...
