Wow. What an amazing video. I have to admit to not even realising that this was an option...I always thought when the time came, you placed the baby on your breast...so many things to learn!

Aw fantastic!! Loved it!
Incredible. I am almost 32 weeks along and had been looking for information on this - to see it in action is just amazing. I spoke to the midwife at my hospital yesterday about this and she said if the baby is fine and doesn't need any assistance then there is no reason why we can't do this. It is one of the big things on my birth plan (and before this I never realised I wanted a birth plan).
Thank you so much for sharing this link with us.
Just watched itI can't believe how beautiful that was... that's one of the most beautiful videos i have ever seen I would have to say! It was interesting to see how closely the bub gripped onto the mothers breast wasn't it? Held on very, very tightly...
I'm not sure if I would be able to do that in front of all those ppl standing watching me!
I'm going to remember this video for when i hopefully b/feed one day....
That is great - I wll get my DH to study it so he can be my very own breast-crawl assistant. I will hopehully be birthing at the birth centre at the Mercy so hopefully the midwives there will be onto it.
You have to let them know what you want Aurora, they pretty much let you do your own thing but some do the whole grab the breast, shove it in thing. But like I say, you have some time to do your own thing, just let them know you want to have some time to allow the baby to attach to the breast on it's own and will ask for help if you need it.

Do you have to be flat on your back? Won't be able to see anything like that! hehe.
It's amazing isn't it. Our midwife was all for this, she gave us heaps of information on this & highly recommended it. She too said tell the hospital you plan to do this, often they will ask you about your birth plan - they should go with what you want.
I told lots of people about the "breast crawl" and many thought it was a little weird, but if they watched that they think a bit differently I think.
Unfortunately for us things didn't go to plan & Charlie was distressed & taken away for oxygen etc right after he was bornwe will definately be doing this second time around, if possible.
Yes i'm definitely putting this in my birth plan hoping everything goes well and i can do it... hopefully with your 2nd you can do this Erinit would be a wonderful experience wouldn't it?
wow! this is awesome!
it all makes perfect sense ... I agree with you Niass... how did we get so lost on the way? If I'd have know about this with DS then I would not have had pethadine. I will be floggin thsi to all my pg mates. thank you BellyBelly
that is amazing.
Makes me sad about my birth now, i still had my normal clothes on so no skin to skin post delivery and the midwife just threw the baby quite abruptly on my breast in the football holdshe had my breast in one had and bubs head in the other....
I wish it had happened like this.
Makes me want to lay down with my baby now!!
Thats amazing... thanks for sharing
Yes sad isn't it, what we are being robbed of. Things have certainly gotten lost along the way. We need to go back to one-on-one, midwfery led care! Not specialist care, unless it warrants it...

Made my day watching this...so very very precious.

I have seen another video like this in the baby classes and I was just in aw.
As soon as I saw it I was like yep I want that!!
we where told though that having drugs during labour can make baby tired and less likely to self attach, but in saying that that you could actually try this tecnique for a few weeks following birth if you had attachment issues.
It would be great if someone else could give some info on this. The video we watched was part of an american study done only a few years ago. where they filmed mum and bubs that had intervention and didn't have intervention.
Drugs or not I'm willing to give it a try
wow... that was just sooo gorgeous and sooo beautiful to watch...
