Question Will I ovulate straight away after m/c?

I m/c on Saturday (at 5 and a half weeks) and DH and I would like to start TTC asap.

Will I ovulate in 14 days? I am still bleeding now (I guess it is still from m/c or is it the same as AF?) Isn't your usual AF the same as what is happening now? Just removing the lining as it is not needed? If that is the case, I would expect that I would ovulate in 14 days.

My hCG was 45 on Saturday and dr said that if I was still preggo it should be in the thousands. Does that mean that my hCG is returning to zero quickly and I should be able to release an egg soon??

Why do some people say that you should wait a cycle? I am generally very fit and healthy - even gave up chocolate when TTC cause it has caffiene in it! And I exercise daily for 30-45 minutes. I was also taking folic acid since January, and went straight onto Balckmore Pregnancy and Breastfeeding 3 days after BFP (one day before AF would have been due).

They don't know why I m/c. 1st bleeding came at 6.30am on Satursday and scan was done at about 11am that day and they couldn't see any sign of a preg. All other results from blood work were good.

I also read on the net somewhere that you're more fertile, or more likely to fall immediately after a m/c? Any truth in that? Has anyone heard about that before?

    Please help!!! Thanks

    Hi Joey,

Im very sorry for your loss . I think it depends of how low your HCG levels are. If they drop low quite quickly, its most probable that you will ovulate within 2 weeks after AF. Early m/c is just a normal period really, that was put on hold due to the presence of HCG. You have a much better chance of conceiving soon after an early m/c than a later one, as your hormones remain pretty much the same and recover quite quickly. GL with ttc, I hope you dont have to wait to long to ov again.

    Joey,
I am sorry for your loss also. I have been in exactly the same boat - I had a m/c @ 6 weeks in early Feb and my GP said to treat it as a late AF - so I used OPK's (ovulation Predictor kits) so I knew when I was o'ing. I think I was vert fertile as I got a huge amount of EWCM and I never had that before so as soon as I knew I was o'ing we DTD and here I am 16 weeks + latter!
    Good Luck!

Firstly, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. As far as ovulating goes, it really depends on each individual person. The loss you hare having now is different to a period (I think - correct me if Im wrong ladies) and some people ovulate straight away and go into a normal cycle again, others take more time. I had my m/c and D&C a few days later. I had light bleeding for about a week and then AF came back after 6 weeks. I had 2 cycles before I got pg again and we weren't actively trying. I know of some people who get pg straight away after a m/c, I don't know that being more fertile has anything to do with the m/c other than you are fertile and would get pg anyway?
Most Dr's will recommend waiting a period of time so that emotionally you have time to grieve and also so that your body can heal and recover. Having said that, like I said, I know some people TTC right away and have no problems and that is really only a decision you and your partner can make.
    Good luck with it all.

    Thanks Issy,

I'm going for another blood test today, so we'll get the results back in a couple of days and see what they have to say!!

After my early losses I always O'd about two weeks later. It depends on how quickly your HCG levels drop back down mine always dropped quickly.

Doctors advise to wait a cycle before trying again but that's only so they can date your pregnancy should you get lucky again quickly. That said, I've been watching on BB for a while now and I've not seen that many ladies fall the next cycle, it's usually about 3 or 4 cycles on, some earlier, some later. So from what I've seen I think the thing about being more fertile after a m/c is a myth.

Remember that it's only about a 20% chance of conceiving with each cycle so the odds are it will take a few months. I had 3 pregnancies last year at at the age of 40/41 and the odds were not with me at all (in either conception or getting a sticky one) but I am due to give birth in a couple of weeks. I found TTCing straight away gave me a feeling of power which made me feel much better about the whole process.
