    We have DD's christening in 2 weeks and it is the third one that we have done - each time we havent given gifts to the godparents and the same goes for bombonerie.

    We both come from large European families who are known for going overboard and most of the christenings we go to dont provide bombonerie either so I wouldnt be too concerned about that.

    Thanks ladies - I thought I had totally missed the boat when I didn't know about the gift thing... good to know it is not 'required' as such but DP and I do like the idea of giving them (the godparents) the candles - we are still undecided on the pendant - depends on what we can find.

    We will think about the candle bonbonarries - I am thinking of how I would feel about it if I were a guest and recieved one and I am not sure it sits well with me... but I do like the idea for the grandparents maybe... who knows I have lots of time to finalise stuff LOL

    T, we've done two christenings as well, and never given gifts. I'm also a godmother a couple of times over for different families and have never received a gift.
    I'm just sending out a photo of Nate in his gown with my thankyous....like BG if they ever get done lol.

    I gave DD's godmother an expensive crystal vase (she loves cyrstal) and a little gold pendant for each of her kids, but only becaue she flew down from interstate at her own expense, bought DD the most beautiful gown and gave her an amazing gift, so i wanted to get her something to remember the day. Also gave little virgin mary plaques wrapped in organza with DD's name and christening date printed on the back to the guests (but we only had 12 people!).

    I think the candles are a great idea and nice gift for godparents, might consider that myself for when we christen the new bub!

    DDs christening is now 1 week away - eek!!

    We have sorted pretty much everything. We decided to go with the candle as gifts for the godparents and I made up a bonbonarrie which is a picture of DD in her christening outfit that is in a frame which is actually a coaster! Looks quite good even if I do say so myself
