I know someone who went to a surprise wedding today. I think it would be really exciting. The only problem would be if people couldn't make the celebration you disguise it as (eg an engagement party), they'd miss out on such a special event in your life.
yea i know what you mean, the thing is there is not too many ppl we would invite anyways. i wanna do it more for him and i just to make our family whole, i really hope that makes sense lol. and because i LOVE him so very much

well at the end of the day the decision is up to you both & it's your special day so you do whatever you want that makes you both happy. i personally don't really like the idea of surprise weddings. like Nel above said you will get people who won't show, but if they knew it was a wedding & lets say they "felt sick" they would make that extra effort to come because it's your wedding, not just a party IYKWIM. also you could get people coming in very casual clothes, that might not bother you, but it would bother me. there's more reasons but i just can't think for now.
all the best in whatever you decide to do![]()
ok i was meaning for a surprise for my partner LOL. i should have said that so the ppl that will be coming will know what is going on bar my partner![]()

That would be great as long as you are certain he wants to get married! I think my DH would have freaked out if I had done that but you know your partner the best to know if he would be happy!
Are you engaged already? If you are then yep could work. If youre not maybe you could propose to him!
Goodluck and keep us posted!
Um....... no way!!
Surprising someone with a lifetime commitment is not cool.
And you need to give a month's notice anyway so it's not really possible.
Hate to be the party pooper here, but you have to lodge an intention to marriage document at least 1 month before the wedding. Which needs to be signed by both parties, or the wedding is not legal.
Best to save surprises for events that are not morally and legally binding.
Why don't you propose to him instead.
My pleasure.
Prolly better to know now before you went to all that effort...
You could fill out the paperwork with him and set the date and then keep him in the dark about when, where, how, theme and make it a surprise location. Sorta like that wedding show Kate Ritchie hosted about the groom being in total control of it all.
I had a surprise wedding at my engagement party. IMO an engagement party is just as special as a wedding. I also knew that anyone ho truly loved us would make the effort to attend (bar illness preventing them), whether it be a wedding or a friendly BBQ for no particular reason.
As others have pointed out, surprising the groom wouldn't be possible. Good luck with whatever you do though.![]()
You could marry someone else. That would be a surprise.
omg that so true i never looked at it like that thanks for the info..... haha i could just imagine wat my partner would say wen he cums back home LOL..... Nuh i think i would rather marry my partner hehe
Just as an FYI.... both parties dont need to sign the notice- DH was deployed so he didnt sign ours. However our celebrant had met him before and talked to us both on the phone did required counseling etc.... I dont know many guys that would like it sprung on them though- that might be a bit much :-/
i like the way you are thinking 2cheekymonkeys. i think that might be the way im gonna go![]()
