well at the end of the day the decision is up to you both & it's your special day so you do whatever you want that makes you both happy . i personally don't really like the idea of surprise weddings. like Nel above said you will get people who won't show, but if they knew it was a wedding & lets say they "felt sick" they would make that extra effort to come because it's your wedding, not just a party IYKWIM. also you could get people coming in very casual clothes, that might not bother you, but it would bother me. there's more reasons but i just can't think for now.

all the best in whatever you decide to do

Considering both of you have to do the paperwork at least a month before your wedding day, I think he would have to know that it is going to happen.

Yeah, a surprise for guests is different to surprising the future spouse. Wouldn't he want a say? Strange IMO.

we are engaged already and yeah he has a say and he wants to get married we were gonna do it about 10 months ago but he had to go away up north for work so we put it off and now his gone for another month i thought it would be nice once he gets back to do it (what he does want). but i guess he will know then i have everything ready just no date and place. So we just gotta wait for him to come home to set the date and place.
