OK, this is the ONLY thing that has ever worked for me. Wait until everyone else is well and truly tipsy before you start drinking. I just can't do the alternate with soft drinks because I never think I'm drunk enough to do that even though it's pretty obvious to Blind Freddy that I have my seriously wobbly boots on.
