If you want to get married now and your DF is also keen - go for it! There is no reason for you to wait if you are both ready. I don't think you are crazy.

If you get married before the baby is born, you also get to have your married name on the birth certificate (if you are changing your name). Added bonus I reckon

I never thought of that....the married name on the birth certificate....

What would happen if we got married - and I re-ordered DD birth certificate - what name would appear on it then? My maiden name or married surname???

Is that what they talk about when they say legitimising children a couple had prior to their marriage??? (am i hijacking my own thread now lol!)

I think it stays the same as your name at the time of the birth. I am not entirely sure but as birth certificates are somewhat of a historical document, I don't think they change them even if circumstances change.

I only put that comment in my post as an icing on the cake, if you wanted to get married anyway. I hope you didn't find it offensive.

Leesa I have been wondering the same thing. I hope they change it to married surname so its the same name on both kids certificates.

No - most definately no offence taken Townsvillegirl...I'm glad you bought the point up....I never thought of that!

I think we'll wait until after bub's is born - to keep it all the same for both kids....

And my deceased grandmothers birthday is on the 22 of Sept - so I'm thinking that date is special....

Good luck with your wedding plans. The 22nd of September is a very pretty sounding date (I think some dates some prettier than others . . . now who is the crazy one ). Sounds like you have a big few months a head of you.

Leesa - you can change DD's surname via Deed Poll (I think it is about $200) if that is your choice. Whatever surname you registered her with when she was born is what is currently on her birth certificate, not necessarily what your name was at the time if you had DF's name listed as her name. Contact the BD&M in your state of have a look on their website to find out what happens if you change your surname to the same as DF's if DD is DF's child.
