Ok, so I am preparing DDs christening that is scheduled for Feb 2010. I was talking about it with one of my friends who has a DS that is the same age as DD and her DS is being christened in Jan 2010.

She asked me what DP and I were thinking in terms of gifts for the godparents... I was a bit perplexed and said that hadn't thought about it and I was still finding my feet in terms of organising the christening and the associated things (gathering afterwards, gown, forms, invitations, family 'dramas' that will come from this event etc etc).

One reason I was perplexed is because I didn't realise I should be getting the godparents anything...

I haven't thought much else about it until today - a friend of mine makes personalised candles and I wanted to get one made to commenorate the day for DD it will have DDs name, church details, date and the names of her godparents on it as well as the photo that I have included on the invitation and a christening verse on the back (not decided which one yet)

I am also going to get one made for the godmother and godfather with DDs name, church details, date and a verse about being a godparent and a cross pendant with DDs (and if space allows their name) engraved on it.

My friend was saying that her and her DH are paying for a weekend away for their DSs godparents as well as a commenorative candle. Is my thank you gift too 'stingy'... is there something else/more traditional I should be thinking about getting them?

Also with the candles I was thinking of getting some smaller candles done as thank you gifts for the people that attend a bonbonarrie (sp?) of sorts... is that tacky or thoughtful?
