Question Wedding and a 6 mth old...

Friends of ours are getting married in December and we just recieved the invite. DH is a groomsmen so they are quite close friends, although they live about and hour and a half away so we only see them every 6 months or so.

Anyway, Izzy will be 6 and a half months old by then, and only just starting solids, and she wont take a bottle (although we are working on it). The wedding ceremony is in gardens and the reception at a lovely golf course at the beach.

I was just drafting an email asking if it would be ok for me to have her with me on the day, and I got worried that it might even be rude to ask? I dont know - I know we had 2 tiny babies at our wedding and I wouldnt have even known they were there and really wouldnt expect them not to be there (although we didnt put there names on the invite) but I know not everyone thinks that.

If she doesnt come with us, we would have to get my mum and dad to come to the hotel we are staying at I guess, and get them to bring her to me for feeds etc.

I will probably just email and ask her but wanted to know if you have been in this situation and how it went, and how you dealt with it??
Gotta love the tipytoedness (Yep I made that word up myself ) around some weddings!!

    TIA

I think it is good that you are asking. Would you be offended if the bride said no?

I guess you could say in the email that you would take Izzy outside if she started to fuss or cry, I that is all any bride is worried about!

    Good luck.

I wouldnt be offended at all!! It would just mean a bit of organising with my mum and dad to come down for the night but Im not sure why I still feel a bit funny and awkward asking for some odd reason! Will see how I go...

Tan, I have a wedding in Dec too! I don't know if they are expecting us to bring Laila or not..

    It's a tricky one isn't it.

I think kids, babies are beautiful at weddings and I know I was more than happy for anyone to bring theirs to our wedding. But I know others don't feel the same, which is fine.

    Tricky one isn't it..

I would just ask. We put the kiddies names on the invites for our wedding cause DH's family had to come interstate so we kinda had to invite the kiddies but in saying that there were some of his cousins that have kiddies and we didn't know about them and we had them asking us and we said yes!!

I think they would let you bring her cause of you having to travel so far and you are breastfeeding and they are bound to know that!!

Funny how the brain does funny things!! I emailed my friend and she is totally fine with Izzy being there- she said she wouldnt expect her not to be and felt bad that they didnt put her on the invite!! Now to find an outfit for us both..

    Oh that is great news!

We got married just 2 years ago, and as well as Olivia and Charlie (who was only a few months old!) we had around 20 children.....from 2 weeks old all through to around 9 years old........

It honestly MADE our day to see (and hear, LOL!0 so many happy children and babies....made it a lovely family affair with such a special feel.....

    Enjoy!
