My mum went through a phase of giving me and my sister bathroom cleaner for christmas, along with the usual stationary and cheap jewellery.

MiL gave me coat hangers and a pair of slippers this year (and a cheque, but coat hangers are an odd gift). She bought me underwear before I married DH too - but plain bra and pants from M&S, so not that weird really.

One year an aunt bought me a plastic earring display holder - the sort shops show off earrings on. And nothing else. She meant well, I am sure.
