What did you do for your childs baptism/christening/blessing day?
Hi All,
Just interested to know what different things you all did for your childs blessing day?
I was christened even though my family isn't religious and I definately want to have DD blessed but Im not sure how to go about it, I mean in a church? In the park? At our house? And to be honest I would be just as happy to have a catholic priest bless her as a buddist monk...
Any Ideas??
We had DD baptised in a catholic church. Not one that I'd ever been to before - but most churches have their own rules on baptising, in some cases they won't consider baptising outside of the church parishoners, in other cases they're open to everyone. Luckily the church we went to were happy to accept us. We had a meeting with the god parents and a rep from the church at our house a few weeks before - and that was it, we rocked up to church on the day and it was all done!
We'll be doing the same for DS when he's born too.
I think for blessings they can be done anywhere, a park, home etc.
I have my DS's Baptism mid August. He will be Baptised Anglican. It gets doe in the middle of the 9am service and the the service is based around him and us (parents and family), and he is welcomed into the Anglican family.
My DD's were done the same way.
We are by no means religious, never go to church, but for us Baptism was what we wanted.
I am very lucky to have a priest for a brother so my DD's baptism was really special. She was baptised by her uncle in the church we attend and were married in during a private ceremony. It was a beautiful day. We then had a BBQ lunch following it at our home. That was really hard work so I won't be doing that this time. I'll just have an arvo tea or something like that but as far as the ceremony goes i wouldn't change a thing.
Hey im abit in the same boat, im trying to organise a christening/namegiving ceremony for my DD and have decided to do it in a function hall which isnt that expensive in my local town and thinking of maby hiring a celebrant who runs the ceremony if u look online on the yellow pages directory u can look them up in ur area and ask abot costs i think their roughly about $50 and u organise with them how u would like the ceremony to be run and they can give u ideas of how to make the day really special.. im going to be adding some special things for it such as doing a photo slide show of bubs life so far and putting a beautiful song in the background. etc
That's a fairly reasonable price for a naming cerenomy Peach...
We had ds baptised Catholic at my MiL's insistence It was followed by lunch at a resturant for all our guests (about 40 people).
One of my GF's had her dd's naming day at home, hired a marquee, chairs, tables, etc and had it catered. We both paid pretty much the same amount, with the same amount of guests- but we didn't have to clean up afterwards
