    Hi all

Just popping in before we go visit a friend to go out for a walk. The weather is gorgeous here today as I am sure Shannon will agree. Good to hear all is well Shannon with you and Jessalyn.

I dropped you an email while you were in hospital to see if you fancied meeting for a coffee since we live fairly close together. Let me know my email is [email protected]

[/b]Heather - We have only had one night were Erykah slept through for 7 hours and that was at 3wks old. I have had the odd night were she wakes once but normal nights for me are up twice in the night. Usually around 2:30 and 5:30. She seems to feed 3 hourly at night but yet goes 4 hourly during the day.

I do a top up feed around 10pm when she is sleeping but that has gone out the window these last few days as she has been very unsettled from 6pm till around 11:30pm. She is tired and wants to sleep but yet is thrashing around and keeps waking herself up. Poor little mite.

I have managed to do all my ironing this morning (most of it is Erykahs!) and even managed to wrap my xmas pressies (I am only organised as they are all for the UK and I am saving on postage and sending them with my visitors) Last year I spent over $100 on postage alone and I bought everything light.

My dad flies out on friday but he is going to Brisbane and QLD first I am meeting him in Wollongong on the 17th August. We intend to do the drive to Wollongong in a day. I hope Erykah will cope OK. She likes the car and at least I can feed anywhere when she is hungry.

Best go as she is calling me

Will pop in later if I get chance

Heather - Alex sometimes feeds at about 7 or 8 then i just let him sleep. I have thought about waking before i go to bed but we tried that one with Kimberley and it never worked. Have a nice time at Mothers group tomorrow.

Megan - We get a 7 or 8hr sleep one night then the next Alex goes back to every 4hrs.

Shannon and Jessalyn - Great to hear you are both now home.

Jo - I hate having to send stuff to the UK so now i don't send much at all. Enjoy your walk.

Dee - I totally understand about the one parent thing it is the same with me. I have to ask DH to do anything. I just wish someone would take me out for the day or away for the night so he has to deal with them on his own so he will then know what it is like.
Hope Matthew has a sleep for you and a better night tonight.

Going to get Alex weighed tomorrow as we did not go last week. Also we are starting a new group thing next week so that will get us out soon i will be out the house nearly every day.

Does anyone have trouble getting wind out of their baby ??

Michelle - Thankyou for being so understanding, sounds like both our DH`s are the same, I shouldn`t complain really as Mark was wonderful when Matthew was first born but now he will not even do a nappy and anything else is totally out of the question. It would be nice to be able to just have a little break wouldn`t it and let them deal with it all, I think it would open their eyes. Yes I have enormous problems getting Matthew to bring his wind up.

Have just got Matthew down now, I`m totally exhausted, didn`t get to sleep until 2am, woke up with the alarm at 2.30am, again woke with Matthew at 4.30am - he was down just after 5am, then awake at 7.30am. Mentioned to Mark how tired I am and I got a reply along the lines of Matthew was asleep at 9pm - if only!!!!!

Michelle - Is the new group a new Mother`s Group or something else?

Jo - I find the same thing with the ironing that most of it is Matthew`s, it`s great that you can save on postage.

Heather - Brooke did post in the General Baby/toddler discussions yesterday but not in here.

I promise to be a bit more chirpier next post, just one of those days!!!!

Dee - It is a new mothers group called 3 c's. Coffee, cake and chat the kids get looked after while you talk. Lesley put my name forward to go and they came round yesterday to tell me all about it. After you have done 3c's for a few weeks you go on to do other things. It is run by the Women's and Children's hospital but the place they meet is not far from us. They even having a cooking group which i would like to do.

Are you breast feeding Matthew ??
This is going to sound funny but one way for me to escape and treat myself is to have a glass of wine. I know it sounds silly but it seems to help when i have had a rough day. Not sure if you are allowed to drink while breast feeding that is why i asked.

That doesn`t sound silly at all Michelle, wine is suppose to relax you afterall, but yes unfortunately I can`t have any with BFing.

Have fun at the 3c`s, I`m sure you will.

I better go and have some lunch, didn`t realise it`s nearly 3pm.

    Hi all!

Woohoo Shannon! It's great to have you back! Glad to hear Jess is doing so well.

    Michelle
    - I have often trouble getting Hannah to burp. Sometimes it seems to happen easily, but other times she fusses and carries on and doesn't manage to get the wind up (or down as the case may be). I find that bicycling her little legs helps at times like that...

    Jo
    - Hannah is still getting up twice in the night...but usually gets a 5 -6 hour sleep in. She used to feed 4 hourly during the day then more frequently at night, like Erykah. I ended up encouraging her to feed more during the day (it's 2 - 3 hourly at the moment) and it seemed to mean a better sleep at night. Some babies respond to that I guess while others will still want to do their own thing! good for you on getting Chrissy organised!

Dee - sorry to hear you had a rough night and that you're not feeling supported by Mark. A new baby can be really tough on a relationship. I'm feeling the same at the moment. I hope you and your little guy are feeling better...remember we're all here for you!!!

Sorry Heather, but I had to laugh at little Hendrix wanting to be carried all the time! I had the exact same problem thismorning with Hannah. I had my Mums with Prams walk and she just would not settle in her pram! I ended up putting her in the sling anyway. It does get a bit much when they're getting so big so quickly.

Megan - you sound like you're doing so well with Finlay, and loving being a mum. Hope the vaccinations are as painless as possible and that you don't have any dramas with them. How did changing the sleeping routine go?

Hannah was weighed again today. She's now officially over the 6kg mark at 6020g. It's so amazing how fast they grow. I also bought her a pair of "baby banz" sunnies, which she wore on our walk thismorning. She doesn't seem to mind wearing them, and they look so trendy (as well as providing eye protection of course!).

Juliette - Sorry to hear your going through the same at the moment. Yay at Hannah being over the 6kg mark, yet it sounds little to me Matthew`s got 2 pairs of the baby banz, you`ve probably seen him with them on in his photos, we brought them when he was about 5 weeks, it`s a good idea to get them used to while they are young.

Michelle - I hope you got lunch or should it be brunch.

Hope everyone has a good night.

Just a very quick post to say Welcome Back to Shannon. I am glad that the operation was a success with little Jessalyn....fingers crossed that it is smooth sailing from here on in!

Your photos are beautiful and she is a gorgeous little girl. I love the one that says 'a cuddle with mum'. You look like such a lovely mother and she is soooo lucky to have you.

The scar looks scary - but hopefully it will heal really well. Is she in much pain?

Shannon - you are amazing and an inspiration to us all.

Lots of love to you and your beautiful baby girl...

I iron everything of Erykahs from babygrows, vests, outfits. I don't really iron my stuff but for some mad bizarre reason I want all Erykah's clothes to look good. Crazy woman I am as I hate ironing normally. I feel less guilty watching TV if I am stood ironing.

Well touch wood Erykah is more settled tonight though she has woken for a feed only 2 hours after her last feed before bed. I will do a dreamfeed at 10pm if she doesn't wake first then hopefully I may get a bit longer out of her during the night.

I am not sure of her routine at the moment as it has changed so much. Never lasts more then 2wks then we have a week of complete change before she settles to another routine. Oh well I still bath her at 6 so she is ready for bed at 7.

I also give Erykah her colic medicine before a feed. Although if she is struggling after a feed if I have not given it to her prior (I do not give her it constantly only when she seems to be unsettled with wind) I have given her it after a feed.

Anyway I am going to go and enjoy some quality time with DH as its been some time since we have had her in bed at this time.

I feel for you girls thats DH don't do much to help. Shami is only to willing to help me with settling in the night ( I have to wake him though) he changes nappies and gives her a bath on a weekend. He loves settling her on a night and would sit with her on his chest all night. Bless him.

I have just found out he has to work away for 2 nights next week however he didn't want to go and leave us (I have no one to help me if she has a bad night) so we have decided there is nothing stopping us going with him. So we are going to Horsham for 2 nights with him. I am quite looking forward to a change of scenery.

Michelle - I can't see me not sending xmas pressies to the UK as they are for all our immediate families. Also they send us pressies so it would not be nice not too. I don't like sending money as the $ goes nowhere once exchanged into pounds. However I love getting the pound as I can get loads for my money here.

Anyway off to crash on the couch in front of the TV with DH

Hope all have a good night

Shannon- hope you and Jessalyn are enjoying your return home.

I iron all of Alex's clothes but then i don't mind doing it when i get started.

Jo - IKWYM the pound goes further here when you change it up. The first Christmas we had here my sister and MIL was here so that saved us sending things back and last year we just did not have the $$ to send anything we just made sure Kimberley had Christmas. This year will be different as i have been putting money away each week so i should be able to send something. I do hate not sending anything. Kimberley is the only one that gets anything from the UK at Christmas this year they will have Alex to buy for as well.

Hope you are having a lovely evening with DH.

Alex has been in bed since 7 so we will see how long he sleeps for tonight i am just off to bed now myself.

Brooke _ I iron everything except for his growsuits and singlets, I don`t like ironinh his jeans they are so fiddly with pockets and I`m like Michelle once I get started I don`t mind. Have a goo night tonight, it`s great that you can have some time for each other like that. When Matthew starts to grizzle like that I just stay where I am and talk to him but of course if he`s too upset I give him a cuddle, I must admit he`s held more often then not.

Michelle - Hope you had a good night.

Jo - your very lucky with Shami, hope you also had a good night and yes there routines do seem to change frequently.

Matthew slept better last night, I got 6 hours sleep so better then the night before but not the 10hours plus he was giving me, there routines seem to change the whole time. Does anyone here use cloth nappies, I put the first cloth nappy on Matthew yesterday, I found they are so bulky and ,makes holding him quite difficult plus he wet right through everything I couldn`t get over how much wee he does so today he`s back into disposables, I probably end up selling the cloth nappies now.

    Afternoon all

Well I did not have a good night at all. It took me till 1:30am to settle her for bed. She was screaming and wriggling around. Her colic medicine made no difference. She had me in a false sense of security as up until 10:30pm she was pretty much settled.

She then woke at 2:15am wanting a feed. She then woke after I put her down so DH got up to settle her for me. She went down straight away. Then woke at 5:30am and then woke at 7:30am but slept after that till 10:30 but she was making some awful noises so kept me from falling back to sleep

I do not have Erykah in our room I moved her out at 5wks as I was waking to every noise. Her nursery is right next to our room and I hear her without a monitor on.

She has been awake playing and now back to sleep much more settled no wriggling and thrashing around.

She woke me this morning and when I went to her I got the most gorgeous smile which made the lack of sleep all worthwhile.

I just hope we leave this awful routine for a nicer one soon. I went through this before I wonder if it is colic. But she doesn't cry she just falls asleep cos she is tired out on us and once we put her down she thrashes around (I wrap her) and wakes herself up and then cries.

I am going to try and feed her 3 hourly during the day to see if that helps more at night. But I think if it is colic we will just have to wear it until she gets over it. Poor little thing.

Hope everyone else is OK. I have decided not to get dressed today and I am going for a sleep as she is asleep now

Will try and pop in later

I am lucky having Shami I know. Though he does have his moments like when he wants to go and get drunk and leave me with the screaming baby!!! He won't do that again as I made him feel so bad after the first time

    Hi Everyone,

Alex slept from 7p.m till 3.15a.m then woke around 7.30.
I left Alex with Paul while i took Kimberley to day care and he screamed the whole time i was gone. I managed to get him to sleep in the pram for 30mins we then walked to teh CYH clinic and he was awake most of the time he slept for 40mins. He has been unhappy ever since we got home and that was at 1.00p.m.
On a good note Alex is now 5.790grams so he has put on 500grms in two weeks he is now 57cm long.
He has to go and see the physio soon as they picked up that he has a flat head and always looks to one side and does nto move it much. I never noticed the flat head before they told me.

I have only just managed to sit down and get something to eat.

I will catch up later when i have a happy little boy.

Shannon I am unable to make the meet in Carrum Downs as my Dad is here from the UK. But I would be up for another one in the future. I understand that you will be busy the next few weeks but if you like I could come over to Mount Eliza and meet you and we could do coffee if you fancy it. I only live around the corner from Somerville Rise Primary what a shame.

I have looked at your photos and how cute are all your girls!!! I think I may have come across you at the midwifes clinic at Frankston. Was there a time when you were there that someone else had the same tshirt the pink stripped one??? If so that was me. I used to go on a tue or wed around 5:30pm.

I think we shopped at the same store the Maternity Warehouse in Ormond!

Well onto a good note I tried some pre pregnancy clothes on which a month ago I could not get into never mind fastened and hey I managed to fasten the jeans and the trousers. They don't look good though but it means there has been progress. I was on weight watchers when I fell pregnant as I piled on the weight when I arrived in Oz. Your portions are huge here and I never know when to say No! Also I didn't walk much as everything is so far apart.

I will look into the chiropracter. Is there specialists in babies?

Shannon - yep I had pilchers on Matthew but somehow it seemed to leak at the top, he`s heavy as it is and I found having the cloth on him made him even heavier and he seemed awkward in them and there is no way a lot of his pants would fit him with a cloth on. Same here most of his nappies seem to be in the wash with vomit on them, we go through 2 - 3 bibs and at least 2 nappies a day, yet he hasn`t been diagnosed with reflux, I guess it`s becuase he`s putting on a lot of weight so it`s obviously not doing him any harm.

Michelle - I hope the rest of the day improves, sounds like Alex is having a day like Matthew did yesterday. Thats great that he`s doing so well. I hope his head isn`t too serious.

Brooke - Sounds like the Chiro is working well on Maya, I hope it continues to help her.

Shannon - Poor Jessalyn having to have all those medications. Yay at the great sleep. I had a look at Jess`s photos, the poor darling with all those medications being pumped into her and that scar.... ouchies.

Jo - Sounds like you had a dreadful night like I did on Wednesday, I really hope she`s more settled for you tonight.

Just back from doing some grocery shopping, otherwise not much happening here.

    Take Care
