    Hello girls,
been a while since I last posted.
Had a good weekend, had brunch with friends, went to the movies and knitted up a storm since there are 8 babies now due by July this year! Very fertile year it seems amongst our friends!

Michelle, I had to laugh so much about DS's first day at school (and esp. his decision to not go back since it just took too long, lol!)

Dachlostar, that is so rude of your friend to say Yasin sounds like a pig! Does that person have any children?? Wolf always makes these sighing noises.. it's so cute.. he sounds like he is really enjoying his feed... little connoisseur.

I am going to the dentist again today... 4th time in 2 weeks.. she will pull my wisdom tooth as she reckons it has to go... ouchie.. not looking forward to that!

Wolf has been soooooooo cute ... lots of smiles and cooing noises.. I could spend hours just watching him...

2 weeks until we are in Oz! Really looking forward to that! I hope it will be nice and warm... I am so sick and tired of the winter. The snow was beautiful. It lasted for a whole week, which was magical. DH and I went for a big walk yesterday and it was so nice with all that snow around and kids pulling sleighs up hills and having snowball fights... I love that part of winter, but last night it all melted and now it's back to grey and depressing and that's the part of winter I hate ...

I wonder how Wolf will deal with the temperature shock when we get to Sydney!

Well I cannot remember what was said in the last thread so will just say, hope everyone is well and having a good week so far!

Great to here from you Snowy! Owchy about getting a tooth pulled! Hope it doesnt get too sore for you. Aww how cute that Wolf is cooing. I can't wait for Lily to start, it's just so adoreable. Hope you enjoy your trip too Sydney. I'm sure Wolf will be just fine.

    Take care everyone,

Just saying hi to everyone & can't believe it is already February.

We are having a quiet day at home after a week on the Sunshine Coast - which was great.

Yesterday we met up with all the other mums & bubs from my pre-natal class - it was really good to catch up with them all & realise what I've been going through is quite normal!!

Hi everyone! Good to hear from you Snowy, glad to hear Wolf is doing well. Are you coming back to Oz for good? Hey Jess, good to hear from you too! Hope you get some answers at your 6wk check up. I know what you mean about feed times being a saga. Kaleb is better now I have upped his formula, but he would scream after every feed, and during when I tried to burp him. As for noisy, you should hear him when he has his early morning feed after his big sleep - you would think he's never been fed before the way he gulps and carries on. Anyway, I am looking for advice on daytime sleeping if anyone can help. Do you follow the same routine as night time for putting them down? Kaleb is getting worse. It would be alright if he was awake and happy by himself, but I seriously have to carry him around all day and it's driving me mad.

oh I so know what you mean Beth, I did the same settling at both times, I find with Matilda that she has to have a settle down time no matter daytime or nighttime, so we go into her room first & sit quietly reading a book every sleep time

Snowy, good luck at the dentist.

Beth, I cant really help you with the daytime sleeping. Only when it is really hot does Aidan get 'needy', otherwise I can just pop him in his bouncer and he will fall asleep when he is ready. I am not really into routines as personally I think it is a bit early for Aidan, and it seems he is getting into his own which I am pretty happy with (contrary to other opinions I have been 'forced' into listening to!!!), it is still different each day but I can see a pattern emerging! It must be very hard if Kaleb wants to be with you all the time, especially if he isnt sleeping much during the day, so I hope you find some relief somehow!

6 week check up was good, much better than my GP visit last week where he said there was nothing wrong!! The GP today said my tear was still healing so just use salt water, and I have some little tears around my 'other hole' which are also healing but again salt water will do the trick.

Now that I have grossed everyone out, I'll be off!

Well I haven't been able to get on for a while due to my internet service not connecting. Don't realise how much I rely on the internet until its down.

I had a lady yesterday smash the entire passenger side of my car. Was driving down the road and she was pulling out of a drive way and she just didn't stop. She tried to tell me that I must have been flying down the road as she couldn't see me. I laughed and said its 3:15pm, we are across from the high school, school has ended and theres cars and kids everywhere. I couldn't speed, its impossible with all the cars in front of me! Anyway, thank goodness Alana wasn't in the car. Its going to take 5 days to fix and we can't get it done for 3 weeks. Its still drivable, which is good, because our other car is a ute. Mum and Dad will be nice enough to allow us to take one of their cars while ours is getting fixed.

Alana is doing well. She is almost rolling over. If only she good get her bum right over. The top half is twisted completely over. We've been watching her with the camcorder close by just incase we can catch it on tape.

I started to give Alana some Baby rice. Wasn't that successful. I don't think she was to fussed with the taste. Is there any reason why I can't go straight to pureed vegetable/fruits? She already take her meds in apple puree.

Beth through the day I follow a feed, play, sleep pattern. She has her feed, plays for a while and then goes to sleep. By having a play time it is meant to tire them completely. It has worked really well for Alana. I think at Kalebs age Alana was having her feed, play and then going to sleep all in 1 hour. At night I would skip the play and put her straight to bed. We are pretty relaxed about feeds and would demand feed. There wasn't a stict routine. It worked well for us both. Now Alana sleeps from 8:30-6:30 and has 3 sleeps through the day. She gets feed every four hours, but she now plays for longer and sleeps less. We are in more of a routine now, but I have let Alana work that out. Good luck!

Hope everyone else and bubs are well.

    Hi everyone

Iris- Grrrrr at the lady smashing your car! How annoying that it's going to take 5 days to fix. About feeding solids, I think the only reason they say to start with rice cereal is that it is very smooth and bland and easily digested, so it's a good food to begin with. If you want to try fruits/vegetables I don't know of any reason why you shouldn't, especially since Alana already has her meds in apple puree. But don't quote me on that, in case I'm wrong! Rice cereal is also good for thickening other purees.

Well I just had a nightmare couple of hours at a baby group at the health clinic. Harry just kept wanting to touch and 'cuddle' the other babies (thank god there were only two) and naturally the mothers didn't want him near their babies so I spent the whole time trying to keep him from touching the other babies, not to mention the fact that he threw a toy and narrowly missed hitting one of them, frightening the poor little mite so she started screaming and I get death stares from the mother and the child health nurse telling my son he is naughty. AAARGH! I just wanted to leave but I stayed but I am not going to go back next week and have to endure that over again. I totally understand that the other mothers would be protective of their babies but it is a bit hard to restrain a 2 year old when all he was really doing was playing, so I will save everyone the grief (myself included) and just stay home.

Anyway I hope everyone else's start to the month was better than mine!

Bon doesn't sound like such a positive outing with mothers group. Poor Harry, he's only a littlie. I try to encourage my girlfriends littlies to touch and go near Alana. Funny though, I have more trouble with adults wanting to touch Alana, then a little one. Maybe you can be put to another mothers group.

Alana and I can't go to mothers group. Its to much of a risk with her at this age picking up infections from other kids etc. I wanted to go to Gymabroo, but our mobile nurses suggested that it wasn't worth the risk. The health nurse at MCH wanted me to come to mothers group without Alana, and maybe bring her in a few months, but I don't like that idea as it is just making Alana seem different to the other kids. I would have liked it to meet other mums, but Alana's health is more important.

    Hello girls,

well, my wisdom tooth is gone. It wasn't too bad, it just sounded really awful but didn't feel a thing. Had to express of course afterwards and throw away the milk ... I always hate doing that... wasting good mommy milk...

Lara, I can't believe that lady started to argue with you over you speeding when she drove into you! grrr...
re. the fruit: I asked my midwife yesterday what solid to first feed Wolf (when the time comes) and she said a banana. She said bananas are wildely popular with babies and it's thus a great first solid to introduce as the success factor is high (as in bubs eating it). I honestly don't know why they recommend those cereals... maybe just propaganda by the companies producing them?

Beth, I make a clear distinction between day time naps and night-time sleeps. During the day, I have to make sure I put him down after 1 - 1.5 hours of wake time. Some times he will fall asleep on his own on the baby gym but if he is overstimulated (because daddy just wouldn't listen to what I said), then I have to use some props (most common prop: popping him in the pram and going for a walk - he's asleep in 2 mins). I stick to the feed / play / sleep routine during the day. In the evening he has a different routine: play, naked time, bath time, feed and then bed. He goes down without any trouble and sometimes I don't even need to use a dummy.

Melbee, I can't wait to meet the parents from my ante-natal class. I am really keen to hear how everyone went... our meeting is not until April though.

No, not going back to Oz for good just yet. We will be back for 6 weeks. We don't have a clear plan on when we move back but will have to be back when Wolf is ten and will start high school. In fact, we'll sign him up for private school when we go back to Sydney in 2 weeks. So that will be the latest point in time when we have to return to Oz. But we will definitely be back once a year for 1-2 months so our kids (yep, more planned) will be in touch with Aussie culture.

Ooooh, Wolf is crying - I think he wants his morning tea!

    Love

    HI girls,

Snowy- Ouch again at the dentist! Hope your mouth feels normal again soon, and have a great trip back. When they start cooing you realize that one day they will be chatting away and that's so amazing.

Iris- what a bummer about not being able to go to mother's grp with Alana, I can understand why you want to take her. Hopefully in another few months you can go along. I would prob just intro fruit as well Iris, as you basically have started in apple anyway.

Bon- It is annoying when others don't understand 2 yr old behaviour. After all boys will be boys, and Harry was behaving as any child his age would. How idid his break heal? Don't let it put you off altogether though, they won't be there everytime you go surely. Have I got it right, were you going for a weigh in or a meeting with mother's group?

Hope you heal quickly Beth and glad the checkup went well.

kathryn- I am a month off the 6 month forum, Jessica is 5 months today and I can't believe it, I think Pee and Ryley are ahead of me but not sure who else.

And also Iris so sorry about your car, funny that it was your fault! Sometimes people just automatically blame the other person, I guess it's the defence. What will happen with repairs, is she going through her insurance? Lucky you can borrow you parents car and lucky Alana wasn't in the car.

Jemma fell off her booster chair at the dining table last night and we thought she had broken something, luckily not, but her 2 smallest fingers on the left hand are very badly bruised and she was in alot of pain, she also had an egg on her head and took skin off her nose. Neither of us could get to her in time. Needless to say we are going to remove the booster and do away with it, it's obviously not safe for our chairs.

It's Joshua's home day and all he has done is play xbox all day. Both the bubs are in bed and I guess I should do something other than read on the net but....can't think of anything that is more interesting at the moment.

Routines: Most bubs do seem to organise their own sooner or later, and the feed, play sleep pattern has always worked for me. Usually the laast feed though bubs is really tired and just goes straight to sleep. jesssica is now having more awake time and 2 days ago, had not much sleep at all during the day, but I can put her on the floor, or in her rocker, or even in the pram sometimes, which means I don't have to carry/hold her the whole time. If I held her all the time I'd get nothing done and she would want that more often as well.

I'm going to check the other Forums.

    Hi to anyone I missed
    Best wishes Michelle

Michelle I hope Jemma will be okay. Poor little girl, it must have given her such a fright...and you and DH.

We had Sarah, our mobile nurse around this morning and she said to just start her on fruit/vege solids. So we gave mashed banana a try. At first she screwed her nose up, but after the second little bit she was really into it. I'll try this for a couple of days then try something else. Apart from apple, pear and banana what other fruits are suitable?

    hi everyone

can you believe this rain - non stop all day and freezing would not believe it was in the 30's yesterday ah well thats melbourne for you.

michelle - hope jemma is ok poor little baby i hate it when they fall and hurt themselves especially the head.

lara - maybe you could try avocado for alana and maybe even sweet potato can't think what else at the moment, oh and bugger about the car

snowy - ouchies on the wisdom tooth, i have two impacted and was meant to get them out years ago but they have settled now and i am a big wuss so will leave them there until absolutely necessary lol.

went to health nurse for weigh today, and hooray lani has hit 6kgs, she gained just over 500gms in 4 wks and now weighs 6.18kgs length is 64cms cant remember head - nurse forgot to write it down looks like she is going to be long and lean like her brother. she is gaining so slow considering she was 3.8kgs at birth, oh well at least she is gaining. the little bugger is waking again around 3 or 4am for a feed, i have tried everything but all she wants is a feed not to bad tho once i feed her and put her back i am back to bed within about 20mins, she will then go through to 7 or 8am, i have a feeling she is developing a bit of a habit, so am going to start the rollover feeds again around 10.30pm see how that goes.

jay loved his first day at kinder, just ran off no emotion there was a little boy crying that he wanted to go home i felt so sad for him, his mum couldn't understand it as he goes to creche. kinder will be on next week for 3 days but only 2hrs at a time, it doesn't go for full time until 21st feb, bugger about that, jay is so bored at home and can't wait to go back - good thing gosh seems like yesterday he was born - sniff sniff.

well am going to cruise around the other forums and then start on lasagna for dinner.

    see ya

iris - check out the solid food thread, that helped me heaps decide what to start with. I did try rice cereal mixed with fruit puree & veges. As I introduced any new food, I would take three days to do it to see how Matilda would react...

Here's a link to that thread HERE
