Jodie - welcome! I'm sorry to say that there's very little you can do to force your child to sleep more than he wants. You can try getting the 'no cry sleep solution' book to see if that helps, otherwise you could start trying to express milk after his evening feed to encourage your breasts to make more milk at this time. Then about a week later, try to get him to feed again to encourage the 'cluster feeding'. My Liam still gets up twice a night and I think you'd find if you went to the Jan baby buddies or the Oct 07 baby buddies that some of those babies are still getting up in the night too!
In regard to the crying - that's completely normal. Babies often need to 'let it out' at the end of the day as just seeing and experiencing normal things can be quite overwhelming for them. I think most of us on here would agree that our babies have a bit of a 'let it out' session at the end of the day. Just hold him and let him cry to get out all the frustration and angst he has bottled up...
