sarah must be a relief to find out you aren't pregnant. I think most of the bubs in here seem to be catnappers, I know Oliver is most of the time during the day, although he will occasionally do a 1.5 - 2 hour sleep (usually one of the morning ones)
alittlegrubi I know how you feel about wanting to escape sometimes, there are some days I think I need a 'double dose' of my happy pills, and I constantly get the 'don't want to go's' as I like to call them when I am supposed to go out somewhere just because I don't want to have to deal with (socialise and put on a happy face) other people, would prefer to be on my own. Hope you had a good day yesterday with your BF.
Zennie it's a shame that Russell seems to be self weening, but you have done a great job to BF him for this long.
Nettie where did you get Liam's tummy time pillow from? Oliver hates being flat on his stomach and I think that something like that might help him to enjoy it a bit more. As for the dieting thing, while reading through yesterdays posts, I have eaten 6 mint slice biscuits and I enjoyed every one of them.
BW haven't seen you here for a few days, hope you are going ok.

    Hi to anyone I missed.

It is so quiet in here lately, maybe people just don't have much going on or happening at the moment so they don't feel the need to post.

Sarah Greer sleeps in her cot by herself for the sleep that starts at around 1-2pm and her first nighttime sleep usually starting between 6 and 7pm. Last night she slept from 6.30pm to 11.30pm in her cot.

Sharon Yum, mint slice - I'm going to buy some chocolate biscuits and melying moments when I do the shopping now. Yes Monday was definitely one of those I don't wanna days for me. Spent 3 hours with my BF, it wasn't too bad, just watching DVDs with the kids and chatting - was pooring with rain yesterday so we couldn't do much with 4 kids in toe. We talked about organizing DHs to have the kids one night next week and go out for a coffee or three and cake.

    No dieting for me

It's always good to know you're not the only one having these experiences, both how bubs is and how we are.

thanks everyone for making me feel better.

Second Sharon's concern for BW, Shellbelland Clueless hope you are all just too busy and not having a hard time.

Today is shopping day so there won't be much exciting going on for me today, but I'll pop back later in the afternoon - your evening since you are all Eastern Staters.

    Afternoon, all

Sharon: It was a hugh weigh off find out we are not PGT. I think since the slip people are just busier now. I know its the case for me. Only on here now 'cos wyatt sleep in pram behind me and I give him gentle rock now and then.
How is Oliver doing these days? Getting any bigger?

Grubi: So when Greer wakes up at 11:30 where does she go then? Back to her bed???

Well we went to playground at school and as always it was good to get out of house. Landon DS#1 rode his bike over, and we did painting. We took over out bubble blower to show teachers and all the kids loved it so they are planning to buy one now.

Had a lovely informed talk to another mum there. She has an adoptive son from Ethiopia. She was telling me he was about a month old when they FOUND him at local police station. Along with how long the process took, and what they have to do. At 7 months old he only weight 4.5kg. That was Wyatt when her was born. I was almost in tears. Though both her son and Landon get long good, and they will be in the same year together. She has just had a baby, and Wyatt and him will be in same class too.

We I am still trying to put these books together of some familys I took their photos for. It's has taken me 2 days, a few stuff ups at the printer. So hopefully I will have it done by this afternoon. Also I didn't plan on how many photo I was going to put on per page. So if I run out of pages tuff... They have a copy of all the prints of a CD and I made them a DVD slide show of the photos, which see really loved.

So now I am just rambling. To give you all something to read.

I had plans on painting my nails today they are at their longest, which is what also made me supect I was pregnant. I don't normally let them grow this long but, I am not really noticing them this time around.

While I'm on the subject, a HPT can't come back Neg can it? I broght twin pack so I might re-test in morning just to double check, 'cos I am still waiting for my AF. Am starting to get worried now.

Well I will go and let someone else ramble for a while. I have plenty to do, but am going to get a DVD out and a glass of milk and sit of cough and dip some choc-chip cookies in there. Haven't done that for a while. But gee its good.

P.S. Que for wyatt to wake up then.

Sarah Thanks for rambling, I enjoyed reading it.

Obviously I need to get a life

HPTs can be negative if it is too soon, but don't worry about it yet, you might not have another AF for a couple of months and it not be due to PG.

Greer goes back into the cot if I am not being lazy and put her back in, she'll sleep for at least an hour and a half if I do that and it is usually wind pains waking her. If I fall asleep during the feed or it's too cozy I leave her next to me in the bed. She'd probably sleep in there all night she did for my Mum the night she took her, but I'm just lazy - like my sleep. Need to get to the point of not being lazy real soon though and move out of the nursery as I think DS and I wake her sometimes being in there.

I wish I had a friend like you to come and do some family pics for us. DH has a female friend who take photographs - see signature pic, but I'm not sure she'd be comfortable doing family pics. I know she secretly wants my DH, I don't care, but I think she is uncomfortable around me.

    HI Guys,
Sorry I've been a bit awol the past few days, the week has gotten away from me a little bit, plus the BB website seems to poo its pants every time I try and log on (then I crack a tanty and give up).
I'll try and get to personals in the next day or so but just quickly
Sharon: BJ used to eat his farex but it was "mouthful in...half out...other half in....repeat" I got a bran called Rafferty's Garden Organic this time around (mainly cause it was on special) and I have to say the change is insane...he had 2 and a half bowls of it last night and was getting grumpy when I didnt get the spoon in fast enough!
I even dont mind the taste...its made from brown rice instead of white and I think that gives it a bit more flavour, might be worth giving Ollie a go on that? it was only $1.74 last week.....
Sarah:Glad you're not pg if its not what you want just now...I know DH and I are not planning to have another one for about 4 years!
Grubi I wish we had someone to take beautiful pics like Greer's...I'm a shocking photographer and BJ hates the camera, though the past few days Ive been making a point of getting the camera out eveyday to try and get him used to it...I've managed to get some pretty cute shots (quite proud if I do say so myself!)
Nettie Liam looks like he's doing ok with tummy time! We got one of the Lamaze Spin and Explore play Gym things but we barely used it...BJ has been good with tummy time all along and now, he pushes himself up and looks around!!

Just on the ebay thing...managed to sell the baby bjorn air we got (I use the active as I need the lumbar support) for $120...quite happy with that...

I'll try and pop in and catch up properly tomorrow....DH has been working late the past few days so by the time I do all BJ's stuff, and DH gets home, we are often eating dinner at about 10pm!

    Just a quick one...

Sharon - I got the pillow from the Reject Shop for $4. It's a giraffe curled in a circle. They also had some other animals, but for some reason he seems to attracts giraffes so we've made them his 'signature animal'.

Sarah - I like your rambles too! I think I'm on here more than most of the other mums (owing to the extra time I have because I'm lucky enough to have DH home with me) so I really look forward to the extra posts.

I've been doing my sleep logs for the NCSS book today and I can see clearly that we need to start instigating a bedtime routine! What does everyone else do to settle down for the evening? Do you do it in the main living room or the nursery? Help me with ideas people! I'd like to start reading to him, I know that!

    Sleeping through the night

    Hi Girls,

I haven't posted since I bought my little boy Ryder home from hospital. I've been reading this thread from time to time, so kind of keeping up to date with how everyone is going :-)

I feel I need some advice on Ryder's sleeping pattern at night. Between 6-7pm every night, Ryder will want feed & then cries until I put him to sleep. He will not stay up any later without the crying & whinging etc. He wakes between 10 & 11pm for a feed, nappy change & no fuss going straight back to sleep. He then wakes between 2.30am & 3.30am for another feed, another nappy change & straight back to sleep. But then, without fail, every single morning he wakes at 5.30am, does a poo, wants compfort feed (I know its for compfort as he mucks around & doesn't drink for long), goos & gars for about half hour, then whinges to go back to sleep. We usually settle him in our bed after I feed & change nappy at 5.30am & I might get about 1 to 1.5 more hours sleep out of him (on a good day). I am still breast feeding, so every time he wakes it means I have to attend to him. The broken sleep patterns are really taking its toll on me.....
How can I get Ryder to sleep longer than 4hrs through the night????

My girlfriend's baby boy is 5wks younger than Ryder and has been sleeping through the night from 8pm to 5am since he was 4wks old! My friend says she cluster feeds Zac between 6-8pm. I don't know how that would work as once Ryder feeds from me, my boobs are empty & it takes 3-4hrs to be full again.

Does Ryder's sleeping pattern at night resemble any of your bubba's? When can I give him a teaspoon of Farex at night? Would that help fill his tummy a bit better & give me a longer sleep between feeds?

Nettie I was told to and have always moved away from the hussle and bussle of the main living area to start settling for the evening. As they get older they get more easily distracted by what is going on around them. I'd recommend sitting with Liam in a chair in a quiet room, not necessarily the nursery if you are not going to have him in his cot whilst starting your settling routine. The reason I suggest a chair is that you can't sit in the cot with him and that way you are getting the body contact and can then settle him off to sleep in the usual way unless you want to give him the message that he lays down, you read a story and then it's lights out sleeping time. I definitely wouldn't do it in the main living area, not that the noise should cease when you put him to sleep, just that he should be removed from it.

My turn to do a big post for you to have something to read

Jodie82The questions you are asking have been asked by others before and the response is usually the same. Farex won't make a difference to their sleeping pattern. The routine you are describing sounds much like Greer's only I tend to get either 5am or 6am for the wake and play then back to sleep and hour later for about 1-2 hours.

I find that the 5.30am poo wake that you are talking about is just that being woken by the bowel movement, he doesn't need to be fed then. Can I also suggest trying not changing his nappy everytime he wakes unless it has leaked of he has done a poo. Get him used to the idea it is night time by having a different routine. Try cutting out the 2.30am change. Do you burp him at the 10.30pm feed? I was finding that wind would cause Greer to wake more often during the night. By getting the wind up before putting her to sleep helps. When you have the 2.30am wake do you automatically give him the breast because you think that is what he wants? Try just putting him near your breast whilst patting his back and see if he searches for it if he tries to get it then he is hungry, if he doesn't it could be wind.

Don't try to keep him up, the crying is signifying that he is tired. Try feeding him and putting him straight to bed at the 6-7 feed time. The other thing you could do for yourself, which isn't ideal is go to sleep when he does at 6 or 7 to get the bit of extra sleep. When do you normally go to sleep is it after he wakes for the 10-11pm feed? Maybe try dream feeding him just before then see if that works for getting him a little further through the night. Another thing you can do is express off some breast milk and get DH to do the 2.30am feed so you don't have to attend to him, even if it's only every other night that he does this just to give you the chance to catch up.

For yourself you need to make sure you have vitamin B and fish oil as it helps the brain to manufacture the chemicals that it doesn't get the chance to do because of the broken sleep it just helps you cope a bit more and is good for bubba too.

I tried cluster feeds and it didn't help us. If you want to try it you'll have to attach Ryder for the feeds, remember it is supply and demand. If he starts having cluster feeds your supply will improve. Earlier threads have suggested using MILO or fenugreek to improve supply.

Please bear in mind this is just what we have found with Greer and it may not be the same with Ryder. Also sleeping through for a baby is anything over 5 hours so Greer is sleeping through from 6.30 to 11.30pm and I think a lot of the midnight to 6am waking is just because of my being lazy and not burping her because I feed her in bed with me and fall asleep.

BW Check out the tips on how to photograph your baby on the Jeans for Genes website - you might find BJ hates the flash rather than the camera - use natural light if you can. That said professional or hobby professional photographers do it so well like Sarah and DH's friend.
I bought a BB Active off ebay for $98 including postage as the original BB was killing me having had a c-section I needed the additional support also. Must get around to listing the original one even if I only get $10 - $20 for it.

Sharon One day left for Ebay, but one of my 99cent items sold for $41.00 - I think I paid $20 for it new - so I was having a party over that one.

Okay now it's DS's bed time and DH is off to band practice so I have to go read stories and will no doubt go to bed myself. Have a dentist appointment tomorrow so that means a minimum of 5 hours out of my day with dropping DD off to a friend in the opposite direction to look after her.

    Morning all,

LOL about my rants, and rambling...

Well I'd though I would do a quickish one now. I am in office doing DH book work for the business. Am almost in tears, cos I have just paid all our accounts and is it just to depreassing knowning how much my DH spent. Lets say in near $45,000 for 3 month. Now if I spent that about I would be DEAD. Farmers... We had decided to NOT grow potates this seaons. It really isn't worth the hassle for that little lump sump you get after you pay off all your accounts. However we will grow poppies this season. DH killed them last seaon. Idot put the wrong spray on them and it killed them. He still kicking himself, along with me through a kick in now and then.

Grubi: Well arn't you the luck one to have your DH and not the other woman. DH has a friend like that. And every time we see them I make sure to drap myself over DH to show her he is MINE...
    * On tips on taking better photo's of babies and general stuff I will list a few and I EXPECT to see some in your galleies. It will give you and NETTIE

Have to go and get show now, I'm a bit smeelly and DS#1 has beeing using my office stamps and has ink everywhere.

Along with Annoying the CR*P out of me with littlbe bugging questions. He sound like a broken CD skipping on one thing...

Be back later with some tips
