Sharon My day didn't go as planned. I didn't get to the biscuits today. Good to hear you had a good day maybe dealing with some negative emotion in that confrontation was good for you.
My day:
Spent the morning booking a doctor's appointment, buying cake decorating bits - wasting money as I couldn't work them out when it came to using them. Settling Greer, baking cake - growling at internet for not working, going to doctor's appointment only to be told that Greer is fighting off her cold well and I don't need to do anything, but if she is still congested on Monday not to have her immunised. Bought an Ironman edible cake topper for an icecream cake for the birthday party, made Villain Skittles, wrapped a pass-the-parcel, made stickers for drink like HULK GAMMA JUICE, SPIDEY SODA, CLOBBERING TIME CORDIAL, went to my dental review and now I have to make that 45k appointment - scary. Picked up DS - went to McDs for chippies, came home and started to ice the cake. Like I said couldn't work the piping thingy so if you go to my photos the end result of the home made hulk cake is there - let me know what you think. https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...php?photo=8539
 Liam - Greer will do that sometimes, but not all the time. Our mothers' group isn't doing much for me ATM, one mum has dropped out because she finds the 2 teen mothers grating, but I am going to keep going with it.
Well I have to go clean up my cooking mess - DH did all the dishes before I did the icing, but now the kitchen looks like a gamma bomb hit it  Wanted to post the pic though to see what everyone thought of my cake making skills - I'm pretty fussy so I wasn't happy with it until I took the photo and saw it from another perspective.
-
Grubi - I think the cake is cute! I especially like the raised eyebrow! Wish I was coming to the party - it sounds great!!
Well Liam was a little trooper again last night - self settling. But he woke up 3 times crying and needed the dummy put in to get back to sleep (and we think his hands were cold because he'd gotten them out of the wrap, so we re-wrapped him). Then he slept through until 6.30 am this morning!!!! He's never done that before either so there's firsts all round this week.
I think I'll take some new pics today because he's looking different to me like he's grown up a lot this last week. I'm wondering now if it was a wonder week for him as he's doing a few new things like growling ;) and a couple of times he's chuckled - but I can't get him to repeat it unfortunately.
BW - well done on the good vacs! I hope Liam's that good when we take him Monday week...
Nothing else to report. I hope everyone else is doing well :hello:
-
Good afternoon all :D
BabyWrangler Oliver will have to have his vacs in a couple of weeks, not looking forward it. The only things I really love cooking is a Lamb roast, which I have to say is very tasty, and scones with jam and cream, when I make these, I have to have a lot of willpower to stop myself from being a complete pig, I have been known to eat 4 whole scones (so that's 8 halfs) in one sitting, must admit I felt quite sick afterwards
alittlegrubi the cake looks lovely, all the kids are going to think it's great, wish I could have a piece, but I don't think it would travel too well in the mail :cryinglaugh:
Nettie Liam is being such a good boy for you, Oliver has really started playing up at bedtime, will chuck a huge tanty all because he is afraid of missing out on something, but I remember Jordan doing the same at a similar age, think I just have to keep on being persistent with him and not let him 'win' ie get him up when he is clearly tired, if he starts screaming I always pick him up until he stops crying but then put him back.
As for me, the strangest thing has happened, my hair is normally as straight as straight can be, even have problems with heated rollers curling my hair, well this morning I got up and had shower and washed hair as usual, towel dried my hair, looked in the mirror, and holy cow! its curly! now i'm not talking really tight curls, very loose curls as I have long hair, but it was curly enough for me to put mouse in and scrunch it so that it stays looking curly all day, all my DH kept doing when he saw me was laugh. personally, I love it, and I wouldn't complain if it went curlier.
Also, I am going on a retreat tomorrow for scrapbooking, would have loved to go for the whole weekend but just couldn't bring myself to leave Oliver so I am going for the day tomorrow and will get home for Oliver's sneaky feed. My BF and I have planned our performance for after dinner (it's an annual tradition) and we are going to do the 'Time Warp' our costumes (which are nearly matching) are:
Enormous bra I think mine is a FF or something like that
a half slip (petticoat)
fish net stockings
Tassles sewn onto the bra
white sox
my old dancing shoes
an absolutely awful looking tie
head band to hold back hair
and earings
It is going to be such a laugh, I can't wait, just better make sure I pack extra 'poise'
-
I just did the best bad mummy thing - Greer fell asleep in the car on the way back from vegie shopping, so I left her there, windows down, car in garage and just kept going out to check on her and I got a 2 hour daytime sleep out of her  :cheer: then a feed and hopefully we'll go back down :crossfingers: as she still has her eyes closed as she feeds now.
That gave me time to mop the floors, fold the clean washing, hang out one load and put a second load on. :hooray:
Better get a :wiggle: on, still have lots to do for Sunday's party and after BBQ
-
Alittlegrubi hands Sharon and Nettie and Sarah a slice of hulk cake.
Warning it is very bland - just a butter cake coloured green - trying to keep the sugar down for the kiddies.
-
Grubi,Love the cake. I'm not bothering to make one for DD who turn 10 on 2 Nov. Me just booking Bowling allie, and send kids there. She want an Apple cake. will pick up and get them to ice in pink. You made a good effort...
Sharon19270 I bet you felt different all day. Maybe a little more confident/sexier???
Nettie it's it WONDERFUL when they settle them self off to sleep. Wyatt is great at it. Has been little bugger last 2 mornings, only sleeping for an hour, but I will normally get 2-3 hour stint when he does it him self.
Wyatt not booked in until end of the month for his neddles. Not looking forward to it.
Had bad morning, did big VENT only to lose it. NOT impressed...
Anyway DH is being a PIMA ATM. He just went and brought more machinary which he didn't need but wanted. So me getting quotes for new kitchen. I'm trying to keep it as CHEAP as possible as this house is only going to be a rental once we are done with it in about 3-5 years. But something nice and EASY to clean. SOOD him, I've got the cheque book.
Well I have taped up the kids bedroom, and now all I have to do it paint them. Was going to do DD tonight so both boys can move in full time by monday. And DD wall can get painted next weekend.
I have to help step-MIL and FIL to move their shop. They have found some new tenants to move in. So they are moving their business out to farm, which I think is wrong but not my place to say. Anyway they have got to be out by Sunday, and they have not packed a dam thing. They are the worlds most untidiest people. I just cring when I walk into store, 'cos I don;t know what is rubbish and what is good...
Anyway I better go
-
Sarah - Seriously doubt I'll be making another cake either. DH has laid down the law and said next party is somewhere else like fun station, toddler town, kidzland where they cater and the kids just play - think you still have to supply cake though - might be a preplan and buy one next time.
Your ILs sounds like mine - what is rubbish and what isn't in their shed is hard to tell.
Sharon I had a similar thing happen with my hair after DS was born 3 years ago, went to the hair dresser -love gay guy who insisted on bringing out my natural curl - to which I said I don't have any - believe my by the time he finished my hair was a mass of adorable curls and all by scrunching - I loved it too. I agree with Sarah too - bet it made you feel good all day - I hope so anyway. DH would have laughed because he's not use to you with curls, I'm sure if you say it makes you feel good about yourself he'd have a different reaction. What did Jordan think?
-
alittlegrubi it's not like it was a boiling hot day, so I say why not, she was in the garage, nice and safe, and she got a good sleep and you got some stuff done around the house, win/win situation really. So is your hair still curly? My DH loved it though, he has seen me with permed hair quite a few times, he called me 'sexy' which was really nice to hear :D
sarah it would have been so annoying when you are trying to save money and do things as cheap as you can with the kitchen, and then DH goes and just spends money without a thought, but like you said, you have the cheque book :p
Oh, well, gotta go, keep packing for my day retreat, i'm really excited. Then I have to have my shower and 'scrunch' my curly hair
have a great day everyone.

Hi All,
Remember me?? I had dropped off the scene for a while 'cause the 'April Babies' forum was just too big for me to keep up with. Glad to see it has been split. I did drop in to a different forum and Nettie invited me back here. Not sure if I will be a regular visitor but thought I would pop in and say 'Hi!' (I also updated my ticker Nettie so you can get a better idea of how Charlotte is doing - no hair, but full of smiles).
Hope you are all going well and loving your time with your babies.
Charlotte is a dream - we have hardly any issues at all. She has slept through the night since week 5 and sleeps fine during the day. My only issue is that after lots of research on my part, I have finally had it confirmed that she has a mild tongue-tie - it just explains sooo much! I am pretty frustrated that our paediatrician, gp or Child Health Nurses haven't ever mentioned it to me and that it is only being identified at 4 months old. We are having it snipped in the next 2 weeks so hopefully that will also help her be less of a 'spewy' baby.
Anyway, I have really enjoyed looking through the tickers to see how your babies have grown - they are soooo cute.
Best wishes to you all.

Hi ladies,
Been reading and keeping up, but sadly simply haven't had the time to write. DH decided to go away for the weekend - apparently I am supposed to be fine about it - I'm not, but he went anyway - and I haven't had any time to myself between cleaning the house and looking after Luke. Quite cranky with DH but he has taken the view that he hasn't seen his mates since NY's (when he went away and left me at home) so he is entitled to go. I am still so cranky with him. He doesn't seem to get that I am working full time, expressing milk, feeding Luke, running around after Luke, doing all the cleaning and that I would like a bit of 'me' time. Just so long as he gets what he wants.
Anyway, that is my vent - and sadly I am so tired at the moment that I am going to bed now. PLeased to hear that everyone is doing well. Will try to log on tomorrow and do some personals.
-
Welcome back Tarnee! Charlotte's gorgeous! You must be pleased with how she's going. Good luck with the tongue-tie 'snip'.
Shell - sorry you're DH is being a prat... Maybe you should book in for a massage/facial or something nice for yourself and just say to him 'here - you look after things for a while' 'the washing needs doing, the dishes need doing and I'd like _ _ _ for tea...' See how he likes them apples! ;)
We're doing really well here. Liam self-settled again last night and tonight, but has been waking up through the night again (only once last night and once already tonight) but we're ok with that. DH was a sweetie & let me have a lie-in this morning. I've been quite tired lately and I asked if he could give me an extra hour or so this morning and he let me sleep an extra 3-4 hours! Feel heaps better now!
Oh - and Liam's now in 00 size clothing! I've started only buying the jumpsuits without the feet too because he runs out of room there first!
Hope you're all well and Grubi - hope the party went great! I was thinking of you today!
-
Tarnee We had a minor tongue tie - not so minor - had it cut at 6 weeks, hope you are breast feeding as the milk helps to heal the cut and being at 4 months it will be a bit harder for you as Charlotte will have more of a memory. They get more distressed by being held than the actual snip. Having the snip definitely helped us with bf issues. Good luck.
Nettie Thanks for your thoughts, but the party is tomorrow :D, spent today cleaning up and getting all those last minute bits arranged. Will post pic of DS in his hulk outfit - he insists on wearing it now and I know I'm in for a fight to get it off at bedtime. We are having a late night as we all had an afternoon sleep of 3 hours today - so he isn't tired. Greer has also gone into 00 and I agree the length is where she runs out of them first, but I have still got feetin suits for sleeping.
I have a headache from hell and like Shell I'm DHless, tonight only that is - he wouldn't dare do a weekend. He thinks it's okay to leave me at home with the kids quite regularly as long as one or both are asleep it's okay for him to go out. I never get to just go out for a drink with my friends. Next life I want to be the DH . If I were you Shell I wouldn't have cleaned up over the weekend, so DH could see it isn't easy - if you have done everything he might think that it wasn't a big deal for him to go away for the weekeend again IYKWIM.
Sharon Yes, I can still get the curl out of my hair if I take the time to scrunch, but I'm a wash and wear kinda girl so it doesn't happen too often. Glad to hear your DH said you were sexy - hope you felt sexy too and DTD. How was your retreat? I certainly wouldn't leave Greer in the car if it were hot, even with all the windows down.
Sarah I too have the cheque book and lately been spending way too much - not on me on the kids, especially went overboard on DS's birthday presents. Spoilt him rotten. Hope he like his presents. Got so much we are giving him presents at all his "parties" tomorrow - kids, Tuesday (actual birthday) dinner with ILs and following Sunday with my family as it is my Dad's birthday on the Monday so we do the two together - although the focus is on DS as Pop is over birthday's now. Which reminds me still have to get cards for Pop and we are buying the cake - no presents this year for the adults - saving the money for one worthwhile present at Christmas.
Okay I have to go stick Wolverine and Spidey to the wall now. Will let you know how the party went.

Grubi - I am still breastfeeding which is why I want to get it done now. Esp. before she starts on solids cause apparently, it can make it hard for them to push the food to the back of their mouth to swallow. I know that she is going to remember more with her being older, but I think that I am OK about dealing with that because of the long term benefits of having it done. She is definitely going to 'crack-it' when the hold her tongue 'cause she was bad enough just with the nurse trying to have a look without holding it.
Shellbell - I have come to the conclusion that most DH's just don't get it! And that as the mum's, we feel the need to compensate by telling everyone how wonderful they are with the baby but in reality we wish they were better. At times, I find having a baby and breastfeeding so suffocating. I can't go anywhere without thinking about taking Charlotte. I love her to bits but would love to detach for a day and not have to be constantly thinking about her needs.
Last week, I joined the gym and am loving it. They have child care there and for an hour a couple of times a week, I get to do something for me. I still think about her while I am working out, but am finding that I am 'worrying' about her less.
I would love to be able to just 'have a drink' too. SInce I found out I was pregnant (Aug 07) I have only touched alcohol on my 30th birthday party (end of June). I had about 4 glasses of champagne and expressed (and threw out) a day's worth of BM cause I felt so guilty. I can't even bring myself to drink a small glass of red with dinner!!
Charlotte has been in 00 clothes for a while now - but since she was born April 16, she is probably one of the oldest in this group. Some pants are still too big for her (but yet the 000 are too small) so I just fold them over once at the waist. She is nearly too big for 00 wondersuits which are a bit short for her but I can't seem to keep socks on her feet so won't buy the footless ones for bed.
Brrr it is cold here this morning - think I might treat myself to a cooked breakfast.
Take care,
-
Hi Tarnee! Welcome back
Geez peopleI can't believe your kids are getting into 00 sized clothing...BJ was born on the 7th of April and I'm excited that SOME of the 0-3 month Pumpkin Patch clothing is getting small, and that he has just hit 000 sized clothing....GROW BOYO GROW!!
Not much happening here, Benjamin had his needles thursday and whilst we didnt have any major dramas, he's been a little cranky and unsettled in the middle of the night (up from 12:30 til 3:30 last night), but then went through straight til 8am so can't complain!!
Will pop in later for personals
Oh and the outfit in his fishing photo (taken on wednesday) is a newborn sized one!!
-
Ok. Can anyone tell me how many feeds a 4 month old should be having each day?? No solids - still exclusively breast feeding. Charlotte only had 4 feeds yesterday and today. And am just wondering if this is normal / will it continue??
-
Hi Tarnee,
My little man is having around 5-6 feeds a day, although he is not drinking alot....around 130-150ml per feed in saying this he has been only just doing this in last 2weeks or so. He had his needles on Fri & has 2 very sore legs as the sister that injected him was a little rough. The 2month needles he had you wouldn't have even noticed he had them!! This time is a totally different story though the poor darlin!
BW- did you say that you were near laidley???
Best go & do some work
Take care all
-
Tarnee I don't think there is a set number of feeds, rather they are supposed to have around 120mls per kg in weight over 24 hours so if they are 6kgs and having four feeds they should be having 180mls a feed.
Party ended up a disaster in my eyes :( because the birthday boy wouldn't wear his costume despite wearing it the night before. He got up and left the pass-the-parcel after getting his prize. None of the other games were played. He didn't want to open presents. Blew out his candles before we sang happy birthday. Didn't want to eat his cake and half the guests didn't come. He kepy having fights because the guests were playing with his toys. Then on top of all of that I forgot to hand out the loot bags - which were actual comicbooks taped into bags. Cake was a hit though :)
DH weighed Greer on the scales with him and clothed she is 7.1kg so about 6.8kg, putting her in the 90th percentile - which considering she was at the 10th percentile when born shows she is a chubba bubba.
-
My it is quiet today - are we all suffering from our weekends? Today was highly unproductive today. Found out that you need to have a receipt to return an item at Target and that if it is not returned within 28 days you can only get a store credit - makes present buying a little more difficult as they can't return unless you provide them with the receipt.
Greer is crying heaps today and has had a couple of vomits. It's either the white bread that I ate for lunch - don't usually have white bread or she is swallowing phlem. Also has a bad nappy rash - think we neglected the nappy changes during the excitement yesterday . Am waiting until next week to do immunisations.
Booked in for my teeth 1st week in Seotember and 1st week in October - will have nice teeth for baptism photos now
-
Hiya Grubi,
That birthday party sounds pretty typical to me!
I went to a 5 year old's party the day I went into labour, and it sounds almost exactly the same but you know what? All the guests (including me) had a blast, and thought it was great!
As for us...Bj had a weird day (weird for him) didnt sleep too well, didnt eat too well etc etc...
I have a feeling that perhaps he's getting his milk too fast which is causing wind, and thus leading to all the usuals!
He uses avent bottles, and has been using the number 2 teats (which is the 1 month plus teat) even though he should technically be on number 3's (but he coughs and splutters and gulps on them). He only switched to number 2's about a month ago.
I gave him his last feed (7:15pm) with a number 1, and theres been no crying, squirming or waking so far (a big change from the past few nights).
I also think that possibly (I may be wrong, we'll know in a couple of days) that the number 2's may be a bit fast for him and thats why he keeps pulling away from bottles etc...
So for now, we are switching back to number 1's (the 0-1month teats!!!).

Tarnee nice to see you here, I think the group is much easier to 'handle' now that we have been split, I find that I usually have time to do personals, and if not, I know that when I next log on I can do them then and not have 2-3 pages of posts to try and catch up on.
shellbell you have every right to be cranky with DH, I am so lucky that my DH does so much for me around here, and then also has no problems with me going out, have already pre-warned him that I am going for the entire weekend for next years annual scrapbooking retreat.
Nettie Oliver has been in 00 clothing since he was about 10 weeks old, but he was a big boy when he was born though. Oh, and well done on Liam self settling himself again, I think he's definitely got the hang of it now.
alittlegrubi i'm normally a wash and wear girl too, but it's nice to know that I can scrunch if I want a change. DS looks cute in his hulk costume. As for the party being a disaster, as long as all the kids had fun, that's all that really matters, if I was EVER game enough to have a party at home (it won't be happening anytime soon) I would definetely just keep it simple. Oliver was 6.85kg the last time he was weighed a week and a half ago. I had heard that Target had changed it's refund/returns policy didn't know what they where though.
BabyWrangler I can't believe BJ is still in 000's, what is his length now? Also there is no reason at all why you have to change to a faster flowing teat, if the number 1's suit him better, then let him stay on them for as long as he is happy to.
Oliver was a really good boy today, he had two 2 hour sleeps, than at 3pm went down for just over an hour, I did have to do a fair amount of dummy returns, but at least he stayed in bed and slept.
Jordan has Chinese day at school tomorrow, and we bought him a chinese outfit to wear in the parade so will hopefully get on tomorrow night and download some pics.
-
Hiya Sharon,
Can't wait to see Jordan in his Chinese outfit!
As for the teats, no reason he has to change really, we'd really only changed cause we thought we should (pathetic I know).
Benjamin is now 61.5 cm long.
He's laying on the floor in front of me (cause the MCHN told me he needs more floor time...despite only being held during the day for feeds!) in a 0-3 month long sleeved top and 0-3 month pair of pants both with a little room to grow!!!
He weighs 6.65kg too.f
-
Ok, I think it was Nettie (if not sorry!) who was talking about making up bottles as you need them etc?
I had always made up BJ's for a 24 hour period and stored them in the fridge, but he's been quite fussy of late and we wondered if that was why, so, heres what we do, and it works a treat (in terms of mixing the formula in properly etc, which I know may still be an issue with the special bottles etc).
I measure out the bioled water into the bottles and put them in the fridge (cause we know that a 200ml cold bottle takes exactly 1min in our microwave to heat).
I then have 2 of those formula containers where you measure out the scoops for if you're gong out etc, and I measure out 6 x 4 scoops (4 in each section..obviously!).
Then at bottle time, we microwave the water, then pour in the pre-measured formula, lid back on, shake like crazy and feed.
Usually I'm lucky and I can do it all with BJ on the floor or something, but, if he's arking up in a big way, I do it the same, but stand the bottle in an empty coffee cup while I shake the formula in (to stop it tipping over).
Its been working a treat for us, and because the water is warm, with a good shake the formula mixes in really well.
Im not sure if it would work with the special bottles for Liam or not, and you're probably doing it exactly that way anyway, but if you aren't, thats how it works for us really well.
Having the formula pre-measured makes it soooo easy!
-
Hi everyone, hope you are all going ok.....
Well Jack & I are going to brave our very first day at Playgroup next thurs....hope the ladies in the group are nice. Little nervous about the whole thing actually, this is my first bub & we have just moved to a new area so don't really know anyone as yet.
BW- As for the making up of bottles...we do things about the same as you but I have 2ltr botlle of pre-boiled water & just use that & then zap it into the microwave & it takes around 20sec also for 200ml but that's a great idea about the formula dividers....would be so much easier than scooping it out everytime! Will definately try that one!
Anyhow best go....take care everyone
Beck
-
Grubi - to you for the party not going as planned... I hope you still enjoyed it.
BW - Yes, it was me about the formula. The idea of standing the bottle in a coffee cup for pouring is a great idea! We can't shake the bottle with his teat on it because it flows up into the top bit (and we can't get it back down without undoing the lot). We can use a lid to shake it but that takes just as much trouble! We're finding pre-making up the formula works best for us. His 'sicky' episodes are less now that we ensure a 1 hour deadline for use (after it's been heated).
Sharon - I think we should have migrated Liam to 00 clothing sooner, but we tried one outfit on a few weeks ago and it just swam on him. I think we picked the biggest article out of the lot though! Love the new pic of Oliver in your ticker! Soooo adorable!!
Mum to Jack - hopefully playgroup will be good and you'll meet some new friends. That's what's happened with me and my mothers' group - they're a great bunch of gals and I'm soo glad I know them!
Liam went to bed at 8pm last night and woke up around 5.30 this morning. Isn't he a good boy! And DH had the sense to come to bed with me at 11.30 pm so he pretty much had a full night's uninterrupted sleep! Yay!
-
Hello again!
I have been so busy with my little man & life in general, that I have hardly had 5 mins to get back on here & tell you how Ryder's sleeping patterns are going.
It was my birthday last week & DH bought me a book called the "Contented Little Baby Book" - The secret to calm & confident parenting by Gina Ford. I have been busy reading & implementing the feeding/sleeping routines that is recommended for 3-4 months old babies and it is FINALLY all falling into place.... for me & for Ryder. Not sure if any of you girls have read it, but it is fantastic!
I was telling you how Ryder was having his 10pm feed, then waking at 1am, 3am, 5am, 7am...... I was feeding him every time he woke thinking he was hungry & I even started to doubt my milk supply...... but I was doing it all wrong! I never knew that feeding times during the day play a big part in whether a baby will sleep well at night or not. This is what the book says feed times should be for 3-4month old babies:
Feed times: 7am, 11am, 2-230pm, 6-6.30pm, 10-10.30pm
Bed time: 7pm. Wake time: 7am - always wake baby at this time regardless. One of the main keys to getting your baby to sleep through the night is to ensure that once he is physically capable of bigger feeds, he takes his daily requirements between 7am and 11pm.
The book says: How quickly a baby sleeps through the night is very much determined by his weight and the amount of milk he is capable of drinking at each feed during the day. Some babies who are only capable of drinking small amounts at each feed would obviously need a feed in the night for longer than a baby who is capable of drinking a larger amount at each feed during the day. The aim of the Contented Little Baby routines is not to push the baby through the night as quickly as possible or deny the baby a feed in the night if he genuinely needs it. It is to ensure that the baby receives most of his nutritional needs during the day so that when he is physically and mentally ready to go through the night he will automatically do so.
Some tips that the book outlines for 3-4month olds:
* Your baby should be sleeping no more than 3 hours between 7am & 7pm.
* Whether you are breast feeding or bottle feeding, if your baby's weight gain is good, you are convinced he is waking up from habit and he refuses cooled boiled water, try leaving it for 15-20mins before going to him. Some babies will grumble on and off then settle themselves back to sleep.
* Regardless of whether your baby is breast or bottle fed, the only way to keep a baby in a good routine is to begin the day at 7am. Once he is sleeping through the night, he should be at his hungriest at this feed.
This book has helped me BIG TIME! I have altered Ryder's feeding times to the abovementioned times. It took a few nights to get a proper pattern established, but it's working! Bed time is 7pm, wakes at 10-10.30pm for feed but stays VERY drousy (almost a dream feed) & goes straight back to sleep. He was waking between 1am-1.30am, but DH gets up to him & puts his dummy back in his mouth & pats him for 5mins or so & he goes back to sleep. Then he wakes at 3am for feed, nappy change & straight back to sleep. Then he hasn't been waking until 6.30-7am. Yay!
My whole problem before was that I was feeding him every time he woke in the night, which meant my milk supply for the 7am feed was crappy! The book stresses that the 7am feed be a BIG feed & the 6-6.30pm feed be a BIG feed.
Well that's my tips for today...... hope they help you as much as they have helped me & my little man (oh, and DH... think he bought me the book cause he was so sick of losing sleep & having to go to work the next day! I did receive some other nice gifts from him for my birthday as well..... JUST AS WELL!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA)

Afternoon all,
Sorry have been MIA for a few days. I have been busy. I painted both of kids bedrooms, and changed the kids over. So now all that is left for me to do it put Wyatt in his cot of a night...
I also helped FIL/stepMIL move their business, mowed Granny's friends lawn as she away, did food shopping, and am waiting on DH to bring botls home for his bed. WE are change beds over. Ours is too squicky. We had it 7 years, so we are change over for DH then after a few years will buy new one. Am trying to cost spending everywhere to get my new kitchen.
Also is anyone else with big huffalumps like mine finding they are moving up nappy sizes faster. Wyatt in Huggies crawler, and they are gettlng little tight around his JUICY thunder thighs... So he's little bum will make it to Toddler before he is 6 months old. Now isn't that just wrong. The name which they ahve named the nappies are just not right. My baby is not 10-15kg, but if I leave him crawler it will cut into his little thighs.
What typr of nappies do you all use? Wyatt has craddle cap, how do you get it off scalp?
Well I better go it's starting to become feeding time at zoo.
-
Ryder is still in Huggies Newborn nappies! He is 6.1kg but the infant Huggies (next size up) are actually too big!!!! I've also tried the Target Dri-Bots as they are cheaper option... but no way as good as the Huggies... they are the best I reckon!
-
Jodie: Ryder must have a small tummy. Wyatt doesn't seem big and the side tabs of a nappy almost come to the middle of both side, but's it tubby legs, we get the red mark from rubbing.
I haven't tried any other nappies on him yet. DS#1 is in you'll love Coles brand Jr of a night time. They seem pretty big. I will I could buy a sample pack of say 4 nappies to try out, before buying whole pack.

Just a quick one for now to let you all know I have added a photo of Jordan in his chinese constume (was chinese day at school today) and he looks so cute. Just click on link in my signature.
will BBL for personals.

I am finding that the new Huggies with the extra stretchy tabs are what is keeping Ryder in Newborn nappies. They could probably sit a bit higher at the back, cause I find through the night I usually have to change his jami's due to wee wee's coming out somewhere in the nappy! Not sure if this is just a boy thing cause little willy's shoot all over the place, or if it is the nappy. This has happened from birth though... maybe he just wee's lots in the night?! I change him after every feed though... so I dunno... it's weird.
I put the next size nappy on him (infant) and they sit way too high (like up over his belly button!) & are bulky, where as the newborns fit snug around his little bum & just right around his legs.
Ryder isn't grasping things yet. I hold a teething ring or small teddy in front of him, he stares at it, kicks his legs with excitement & sometimes hits it with his hands... but hasn't got the hang of opening his hand & holding onto it. He grabs onto my fingers though... so I don't think it'll be too far away! That will be great cause he can entertain himself a bit more.
He's definately very knowing now though! He only has eyes for his mummy & if he can't see me he's not happy! Makes my life very tough!

BabyWrangler I think that they say from about 62cm they can start to go into the OO's so he might not be far behind. And no, you're not pathetic for giving the number 2 teats a go, I would have done the same. Oh, and the way you make up the bottles is the way I have always done it, and especially with the thickened formula, you have to have warm water in bottle before you add formula otherwise it goes lumpy, I make up 6 every night, before I go to bed, I only have one of the formula dispensers though so I have to refill it during the day.
Nettie Oliver does still have one 000 outfit and that is his Elmo AIO that he uses for his pj's but it is starting to get a little squishy around feet so will probably have to take that one out of the mix.
Jodie82 I have to say that Jordan is pretty much on those times for his feeds now, and has been for about a month, the only problem I have with him though is that his first morning bottle is his smallest, he will only have around 60-80ml, the book sounds interesting though, may have to get myself a copy.
sarah I have Oliver in the crawler size nappies and they do him just fine. Congrats on painting both kids rooms, bet you are glad it is all finished with now.
Hi to everyone else :)
Had a really nice (but tiring) day today at Jordan's school, unfortunately the MIL came along too so I had to put up with her. I have uploaded a photo of Jordan in his costume, would have done a couple of others too but they have other kids from the school in them and I don't think it would be right of me to put pics of their kids on the internet without them knowing IYKWIM.
Also, I have been putting it off for the last week and half now, but I have an ingrown toenail, and it is killing me, but I think I have to face the facts and realise that I have to go to the Dr's and get them to do something about it, I really, really, really, really don't want them to have to take my nail off!

Hello everyone
Ive been mia for a while aswell as there is just so much going on here. update on russell is hes rolling over to his tummy everytime i take my eyes of him and trying to crawl big time and is pulling himself p into a sitting poistion with a little help. hes 64cm and 8 kg, wearing snugglers 6-11 kg crawler nappies, is wearing 000 - 00 clothing and is now formula fed:( fulltime and only occasional searches out the boob. hes eating 3-4 solid meals a day incuding fruit veg and occasioally some meat. he loves his jolly jumer will spend an hour or so on it most days.
As for me , my parents are buying another property so they are getting my house evaluated so we are in major clean up mode ATM , had severe pain in a front tooth and dentist says need root treatment to fix it $750 later just to maintain a nice smile then after that will need 8 filing and an extraction!!!!:(
Dp is coming round, hes been a bit slack and selfish lately, but after bruiser of a fight he seeems tio understand im not wonderwoman and the fact that we are only home 2 nights a week before 8 pm is a real streesser and te constant commuting to visit people drives me insane! they can come to us occasionally and that i need time out from russell to do things like sleep or shop or relax. that i feel better for it !
Jodie Russeell is so spoilt with attention that if hes not getting it and he wants it he lets you know he has a problem. then we pick him up or what ever and he clasps his hands smiles and laughs . its a ll a big game all about him !
Sarah russell has a little but not much, i keep it undercontrol by soaking it with a wet washer on hi ead at bath time and running a baby brush through it to lossen the skin, then brushing it when his hair dries. but like i said his is minimal and not infected or anything.
Anyone elese over the cold weather, i cant wait for summer to take russell swimming ?

Zennie: My DH was like that when Wyatt was first born. However he is much better now, when he is home early.
*One the going to see people/friends, DH and I made the decision that if people dont come to see us one for every 2 visit we go to them we cant be bothered. We have 3 children, so of our friends have none, and it too late and cold to be taking them out to visit of a night time. It the same distance to your house as it is to their house.
Sharon: Jordan looks so cute... You did a wonderfully job on the outfit.
* Wyatt is same, has some 000 outfits he still fits, he's in Bonds wondersuits he's a 00. But other wise I have all other smaller cloth hung up in his wardobe and you can see the hugh size difference from 000 - 00.
Jodie: I am gald to here your book has helped you. Hope this means you'll be able to have some mummy time to her self.
But my little tubby lump must have a large thighs.. I will try and fit nappes better today, as I am running out and need another pack by 2morro.
Well I better go and start the day. Got to get ready to playgroup, go and pick up DH tax from his accountant, got to get some more bolts, post office, bank and wollie to get some more cookies. Wyatt still in bed. Will go and wake him other wise I will have a cranking baby at playgroup.
have a nice day all.
P.S. Sorry if I missed anyone this post has taken 20 minutes lots of help/running after DD and DS#1.

Hi everyone, I have been MIA also, but there has been heaps going on!
Daphne has slept through the night for 6 nights in a row!!! I am so happy but trying not to get too excited. Just when my DH was starting to bust my chops about starting controlled crying, I said that I just had faith she could do it on her own and that night she did for the first time ever and has done it now for 6 nights!
Jodie I have been doing that system of feeding for about 2 months (from the book On Becoming Babywise).:
7-7.30 wake up, feed (normally 180-200mls) this morning it was 220
11.30ish feed
3.30ish feed
7.30ish feed
Bed about 8-8.30: in cot awake in sleeping bag but arms wrapped still (will phase out wrapping soon)
11.15 dream feed (120-150mls normally, whatever she takes) She does not wake for this - bottle in-drink-bottle out. My DH has been doing this and doesnt even lift her out of the cot. If she keeps going through the night I will start doing this dream feed.
She would then normally wake anytime between 3-4.30 for a feed and would take a full150mls, but I have noticed over the last 2 days since shes gone all night that she is taking 200ish during the day rather than 160-180 which she was taking when fed during the day.
For those of you doing dream feeds - when do you stop??
I am about to start giving her some solids. She is staring at us when we eat big time. THe other night we gave her a few tiny bits of pumpkin soup which she was a bit confused by, but was into by the 3-4th taste!
Also, right now she has passed out under her playgym!! She's never done that before! I thought things were a bit quiet and I looked down and she's passed out!!
I hope you are all well!!
-
Zennie: Wow! Russell is a big boy already!!! I guess it must really depend on the baby as to what stage they are up too... cause Ryder is no where near trying to crawl or eat solids. He's 6.1kg, and when I put him on him tummy, he pretty much face plants the floor! But when we are holding him, he is pretty much holding his own head up now with no support. I bought some Farex the other day & decided to see if he was ready for it.... so made up a tablespoons worth, tried to spoon it into his mouth (when he was hungry) and you should have seen the faces he pulled. He gagged, spat it back out & that was it. Just shows, every babys needs are so different & they are ready for different things at different times :-)
Clueless: My MIL told me the other day that she read an article in the paper saying that 3-4 month old babies should only be very loosley wrapped at this age as bubbas are trying to roll & like to move freely in bed. The article was about babies sleeping at night, and was saying that wrapping your baby tight at this age could be the reason they are waking through the night.
I will read the next few chapters in my book & see what it says about dropping the 10-11pm feed (dream feed) and when to do it & get back to you.
Sharon: Does Jordan still wake at night for a feed? Try filling him right up at the 6-6.30pm & 10pm feeds. The book I'm reading says that if you're baby is waking through the night & having a BIG feed, he will continue waking at that time always as he knows this is when he receives his biggest milk intake. You have to try & adjust his feeding pattern so that the before bed & morning feeds are his biggest and then eventually he will not wake through the night at all.
Tarnee: I haven't received your invite to the scrap-booking party yet!? I am coming, would you like me to bring a plate of something? Poor Charlotte with having the tongue tie :-(. What paedetrician did you have? My friends little boy who is 5wks younger than Ryder had a tongue tie & had it snipped when he was 2wks old. It was picked up in hospital... Mater Public. You must be p*ssed that it wasn't picked up on earlier. Could be worse I guess....
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get Ryder to drink boiled water or milk (expressed or formula) from a bottle?! He was drinking from Avent bottles for the first 3 weeks of his life (expressed milk) cause I had massive problems with mastitis, cracked bleeding nipples & over engorged boobs. Then I went back to solely breast feeding & was too scared to express any more as the Dr reckons this is why I got the mastitis in the 1st place (don't get proper let downs etc). So Mr Ryder has been booby feed ever since & now I have the problem where I cannot leave him with anyone for more than 4hrs cause the little brat wont drink out of a bottle! I even went & bought a Tommee Tippee bottle cause the teat resembles a breast (well close to), but still no luck. Even tried different teat sizes... but even with the newborn teat, he gags & chokes & coughs when I feed him with it. Aaahhhh.... so annoying! I think he is just too smart for his own good & I can't trick him!

:)Hi there. Noah was born on the 29th April although he was due on the 3rd May. He was 4040g at birth and had heaps of saggy skin. Within the week we were in hospy he had grown into it, soI think he came early to do a bit more growing on the outside. Bit hard on the little fella when Mums only five foot nothing. LOL
I also have another son who is 23 months tomorrow...my baby boy is exploring the world so much these days. ATM he is totally hooked on the swimming at the olympics!
I live out in Penrith town, well a stonesthrow from anyway.
Noah was 7.08kgabout three weeks ago and 65cms long, no idea what he is now but i DO know I keep putting clothes of his into storage.:)
Noah has slept through from 6 weeks and just lately, like the past 3 days has kinda half dropped an arvo feed....not sure though. Might just be not as hungry for a while.
Noah is starting to really like tummy time and I do itmaybe three times per day until he gets cranky. I noticed this week too that he is beginning to turn his head right around when on his back....mmm, how to describe it.........mmm, like he is learning to roll over iykwim!!??!! watch out big brother...
He is such a determined little boy.:D
Hope to get to know you all, will try and pop in as often as my life allows me too.

Just answering Jodie quickly on bottles. There are only two other bottles to try if neither of the Avent or TT Close to NATURE are working for you is the Pigeon bottles - chemist or First Years Breast Flow - think they are only available online. Other than that you just need to persist. Have you got the smallest flow teats? LIke BW said the 0-3moths are best even if they are over that age so it is not as fast a flow.
Sarah on the nappies I'm starting to have the same issue with Greer in the up to 8 kg Snugglers and she is only 7kg, but I think it is because she is a chubba bubba. The next size up Snugglers actually work better for leakage etc as much as I hate going up a size.

Well, we had our 4 month follow-up with Neo-Natal today.
Liam is now 5.7 kgs and 60.5cms long with a hc of 41cm. I think he's small for his age, but they tested his development too (with a physio and also a paed) and he seems to be well advanced developmentally.
They were impressed with his hand movements, eye coordination, interraction and also his efforts with tummy time & sitting up.
When the physio had him on his tummy, he almost rolled over - front to back! He hasn't done that before! He seemed to really enjoy it so I think I'll try to do more tummy time with him. She used some rattles to capture his interest and he really liked them. So we went to Toys 'r' us and bought some for him!
We were so proud of him as he was quite tired at the beginning of this appointment and thought he'd start getting grumpy, but he was a real trooper smiling and having a great time with everyone who saw him for the full hour & a half that he was 'seen to'.
We fed him straight after and he went straight to sleep (though not for long!). Then we went into the city to do some shopping and he was great through that too! Only had little naps through the day - 20 mins, up to 40 mins - but he was never very grumpy. He's now down in bed and self-settled like normal. He seemed very relieved to be back in his cot though! Couldn't get the smile off his face when we got home!
:hello: to everyone - sorry I don't have time for personals. Need to make up the bottles for Liam before Spicks & Specs starts!

Hey Jodie
our health nurse said we should have our babies unwrapped by four months due to rolling over so we've put Daphne in a sleeping bag about 2 weeks ago and we are transitioning out of wrapping. WE'll do one arm out and then eventually both, but at the moment she's getting used to the bag and then we'll move on from there. She cries when she goes in the bag now as she knows she's going to bed. Its pretty cute.

Hi Everyone,
On the nappy issue - we have discovered Coles - Babylove nappies (on special last week). They are a little more bulky than the huggies but we have had NO leaks at all. (We normally always get a pooey leak with her weekly poo). Charlotte is in the 6 - 11kgs and my bank account is loving the savings. I didn't think I would ever convert from Huggies but I really like these. In fact, I am actually having to change her less often too 'cause they are so absorbent and can hold more and she shows no signs of nappy rash or anything so they must 'feel' dry too.
Wrapping issue - a child health nurse yesterday to me to wrap her until whenever. Charlotte would definitely wake herself up in the night with her hands if she was left unwrapped and at the moment it is helping to keep her warm too. On the nights that her hands get free they are like ice cubes! She definitely sleeps better night and day if she is well-wrapped.
Charlotte had her 4 month needles this morning - didn't cry for the first one and only a little for the second one. I asked my GP about her tongue-tie - he said not to worry about it at the moment but he didn't really get a good look at it. I have already made an appt with the tongue-tie doctor so I think I will trust him to assess it properly and decide whether or not she needs it snipped.
I also asked the GP about how 'spewy' she is - and predictably he said, 'she will grow out of it - it is normal'!! Well, if it is so normal, why don't I see every other baby spewing as much as she does?? I am so frustrated! Just because she is a good weight and not grizzly, no body will take it seriously.
The reason that I am so worried is that I feel like it will affect her development - she is lucky to spend 5min a day on her tummy - cause everytime I put her down, she spews, face plants in it and gets fussy about it. She can't go in her walker without continually spitting up and the jolly jumper is just as bad as putting her on her tummy. Even when I hold her over my shoulder or facing forward, it makes her sick. Any pressure on her tummy and up comes the milk!! We go through about 7 bibs a day and I don't change them until they are really wet. Please tell me - IS THIS NORMAL???
Anyway - end of rant. Sorry everyone.
On a brighter note - isn't it funny how so many people are coming back to the thread (myself included)?? Obviously we are all getting used to life with the little ones!
