I know it's hard but I think you just have to keep persisting, put her to bed, when she starts screaming, get her up and settle her down, then start again, it sounds like she is just scared that she is going to miss out on something. Maybe someone else here will have some suggestions for you in the morning. Once she is asleep though, does she generally stay asleep (especially at night)?
Once asleep at night, she sleeps right through til 4am earliest 6am latest, then one more feed, then sleep til 8 or 9am. Im thinking of getting a hammock.
meg, do you sling her to get things done? you poor thing, that would be so hard. when you've fluked it, what happened? i suppose you've tried repeating any flukes that got her to sleep.
Its interesting that our previously good sleepers have all decided sleeping is for jerks. Maybe its a developmental thing? Lila's never slept through since I put her in the cot. Night before last was a shocker, down at 11, up at 2am til 5am and back up at 7am for the day. Yesterday dh let me nap but I was too tired to nap. We took her to an outdoor show last night and she was great, I thought maybe she'd sleep last night (honestly how is she getting by with so little sleep??) but no such luck. sometime around 7am i got up and was crying and resigned to another day of being exhausted. Dh got up and took her from me and put me back to bed. So good to have a huge stock of milk in the freezer for times like that. Now I feel better, sorry for the whinge.
We're getting 4 month vax tomorrow. Last time she was grumpy and slept heaps so maybe just maybe...

My previously crap sleeper is doing well, so it must be opposites week :lol:. Last feed at 6.30/7pm, next feed at 1am, then 3/4am then usually a 5.30 feed but sometimes not. that first 6 hour stint still has me engorged and I risk my fertility/period coming back. I know this sounds ridiculous but i would rather he wake at 11/12 than 1am. i can't sleep after midnight anyway, he has me trained to short sleeps. I wonder if i'll ever sleep all night again!
he has 4 naps a day, the first and last ones are sorta short, like they won't last much longer and he'll consolidate them all into two good naps. the middle two naps are from 1 to 3 hours long, depending on the day. i'm trying to transition him to being comforted in the rocking chair instead of this ridiculous bouncing on the fit ball.
he just screamed for an hour and a half, non stop. second day in a row of this after nap crying jag. he's sick, but this seems more like pain. it's a very looooooong hour and a half, lemme tell ya.
We've also graduated to the ergo sling. Finally. He's so big that he fits into it now like a six month old, legs around my waist in front. I sling him on my hip for short shopping trips too and he is good with it. I get a lot of looks and even got pointed at today. I feel like a babywearing advertisement so it's good. I tried the back carry but he's still a bit little for that so I'll put that on hold.

a brief visit - too tired to write much. dd did a 4-hour stretch last night but it's the first time in a while that she's done that. at least i now have hope she may do it again!! naps are brief these days - she seldom goes more than half an hour but is often tired when she wakes up. can't resettle her for the life of me though.
had mchn checkup - she has grown 9cm in under 2 months so at least i know all that feeding's doing something good...
steph good luck with vax. i still haven't done the 2 month ones - was waiting for dd's cold/cough to get better but have now given up and will do them this week.
meg when you say she doesn't sleep do you mean during the day? does she doze off at all?

I was just wondering how everyone was going with the transition to cot. Isabelle is so good at night I'm scared that it all might change when i move her from our room. She goes to bed around 6.00-6.30 and then wakes up around 7.00-7.30, i know..its ridiculous right? i really really dont want things to change :)
Also had anyone managed to fix this whole catnapping business during the day? is there a way of doing it without leaving them to cry? my girlfriend keeps telling me that i should just let her cry, that she'll never learn blah blah blah, but im not really into that. Im amazed that im ready for her to leave our room so early, james was moved (DH choice, not mine...there were tears from me :)) at 8 months. its amazing how different my two babies are/were..not sure if its me or them thats different though. i think im a lot more relaxed this time, with james i had no clue whatsoever.

Yeah, day sleeps are a nightmare, night sleeps are a dream.
I dont know whats with it. I mean, after rocking for a good while i can get her to sleep, but then im stuck with her in my arms, one sudden move can wake her (and usually does) and she is a screaming baby again.
I do have HAB, but i suck at putting it on, so dont, i feel bad coz Ben spent so much on it and its only been used three times. We are thinking of selling and buying a bjorn, or a ergo..I have a Q, those that have a ergo, can you face them outwards as well as inwards?? Like, have them against your chest, with their back to your chest, and also their chest to your chest?? If that makes sense.
At night though, i can feed her, and she will be happy to go to sleep, no fighting, no crying, feed, wrap, rocker, then transfer her to her cot. Day just is a no go.
hey Jen. I am a day nap success story (well, so far, for over a month). so's ya know, i'm the extremist of the group :lol:, I'm the extreme AP'er of the group. keep that in mind when i give advice cos it may not suit your style. we're all different in our approach (and they all tolerate me and my culture bashings very well, bless 'em). Having said that, my first recommendation is to get the book The No Cry Sleep Solution. It's all logical in that book but it's good to have it spelled out in the parent fog.
I had slung Ci through all his life until he was about 2 or 3 months old. We put up the cot and played with him in it while awake and often all spent time as a family in the sleeping room to get him adjusted to it (we sleep in that room too but it was only at night up to that point). The first few tries I put him in asleep, and knew he'd only last until his sleep cycle finished and realised where he was - about half an hour back then - ... so I was right there when he woke (very important!). Then I got him up and depending on how he looked, I either called that nap done or popped him in the sling for the rest of the nap.
I just repeated that for a week or so, and occasionally we got lucky with a proper nap but that wasn't the goal. Then it was time to go in sleepy, but not asleep. This failed for quite a while and takes the MOST amount of patience of this whole process. Keeping in mind our goal was just to get him used to the process... ie, when tired, we will put you in here. We didn't get all focused on nap results or we'd just have set ourselves up for frustration - he's only a baby after all. We used cues also, "ssshhh nap time bubby". I used music, this "dreaming" cd i had for DD as another cue. We also cover him in only one blanket (his small green one) while we rock him for sleep times. He put two and two together pretty fast.
I'd put him in and he'd be ok for a few minutes and then he'd get a bit miffed, but not crying. I'd pick him up, bounce on the ball with him, sshh him down, repeat. It took me two hours more than once, so although gentle, it ain't easy. But the reward was a baby that went to sleep in his cot awake and can put himself to sleep (as long as he is calm, comfortable and very tired), which means he can sleep through sleep cycles and if he wakes I can trust it is because he is uncomfotable or done napping. And by "puts himself to sleep", we use no aids like a dummy and he won't breastfeed to sleep during the day, so it's hard core self settling we achieved - without cries. This took a month. The key is for them to see the whole deal as safe and lovely and that you are right there if they even whimper.
Ci cries when he is tired. A lot. Always has, although it has lessened considerably. But I always hold him when he cries. I didn't let him cry in the cot, and I certainly would never leave him crying alone. Not until he can walk away from me if that's what he'd prefer. I put him down when he is settled and drowsy, however long that takes.
Now, he sleeps for 1 to 3 hours twice a day and occasionally needs resettling during a nap - he also has two other naps during the day but they are still on me and we're happy with that. (all this AND he has itchy irritating eczema he is dealing with that really unsettles him, so it's double the acomplishment).
All babes are different, so take that with a grain of salt. But I always advocate gentle gentle gentle, they're only babies and don't understand anything other than "this feels right" or "this feels wrong". Trust a baby's cry signals, always, and you can't go wrong. There's no need for a baby to cry while getting comfortable with changes. It's us that force the issues, grown ups are so impatient and we want results now. If you are willing to be patient and soothe her through all transitions, you'll never suffer mama guilt. The quick fix has it's rewards, but in my opinion, when it comes to babies, it just ain't worth it, they're so vulnerable... and cute... and I just wanna bite 'em. Doncha just wanna bite em? Or at least, nibble at them a bit...
Meg, before you sit a baby the wrong way in any carrier, read this: esp the last part about backwards carries. It has invaluable tips on comfortable babywearing, and if you see the last pic of a baby facing outward, you can see how bad it is for their back, they look ridiculous.
Having said that, there is a way to wear them facing outwards. If their legs are bunched up frog style in front it is more comfy for them and less jarring on their body. The best way to carry a baby is on the back though. We are the only baby wearing culture that wears them in front. It's so bad for our backs. Hip or back, that's the ticket. They can see it all going on and both of you are comfy. For a little one, you can make your own stretchy wrap, just a four or five meter piece of cloth and look up youtube for some back wrapping tips - tibetan style is pretty groovy.:
8. Facing in. Only choose a baby carrier that allows your child to face you - never out. Not only does a child need support to hold the leg in a 90 degree angle, there are also too many events going on around your baby. A baby has no way to exclude himself from the environment by turning his head away and towards you. Healthy sleep is difficult for a baby who is facing outward.
Ci had another chiro adjustment today. His neck was out again cos he had that healing crisis yesterday. Five hours of solid crying. It was horrible. But his skin is amazing today. I've been working on him, cleaning out his gut of yeast. I'll link my blog later on the pages of what we're doing. It's working. Better go do dishes while he's napping. Since he's sick, I never know when to expect him to wake.

i've been lurking around in the background since we were pregnant, so i pretty much know everyone's style :) the thing with isabelle is that i know when shes tired, well before overtired, i pick her up, we close the blinds and put on her grobag and i lay her down, say "nigh nighies princess", give her a kiss and walk out...she's always asleep within a few minutes and rarely with any tears. so i cant understand why she doesnt go that extra cycle when she's so happy to go to bed? i learned that the hard way with james, i used to put him to sleep, rocking and singing and then transfer to bed...always had only 1/2 hour but that at least made sense to me.... i thought if they went to sleep happy, in the same place and comfy then they would sleep longer?
since she was a few weeks old ive been carrying isabelle in a sling for shopping and kinder dropoffs, stuff like that. i really dislike using a pram, they always seem so cold..and too big and annoying to actually go into most places. the thing is she's getting too big for the one i have so i think i'll have to do some research into whats good to use for this age. any suggestions?
Fire...i remember reading a post from you a while back regarding post natal depression, a close friend of mine is having a tough time with it and i let her know what you had said about zinc. she found it very interesting and is going to look into it...so thanks very much :)

Well apparently its all a developmental thing, and that she will grow out of it, and that i should wait til this miraculous day. Fun times to be had. She has only had ONE sleep today, for about 30-40 mins. Im in for a long, monster night. I dont think im coping any more. I used to be so patient with this kind of thing, able to sit it out and rock her. But i just cant any more. My neck and shoulders hurt. Any peep that sounds remotely like a cry depresses me. I dread her crying coz i just cant do it :(
Meg- hunny im sorry you are having such a rough time.. I urge you to go and see your dr... Its hard when you know they are tired and just ant understad why they wont sleep. Are you still bf?? cause it could possibly be somethign in your diet that is upsetting her tummy.
i am having a nightmare 3 days with Mj and i know why... i gorged in chocolate and now poor Mj has a wickered tummy ache, plus i have a sore thrat and am just over the whole single arent thing atm

I'm afraid I'm not much good with all the problem solving as we seem to have a dream child. I know I'm the lucky one with getting to have DH home with me all the time (and me not having to return to work until mid-Sept) - I really think that's the defining difference in this household (both of us here) - but we can't all do that, can we?
Yesterday we overstimulated him and paid the price with him not sleeping very well last night (it's not true that if they don't get much sleep in the day that they'll sleep better at night) - so I tried to make up for it today. He slept HEAPS today and is down for his big sleep now. His naps were long and frequent today - pretty much fell asleep on every bottle today (which means he didn't eat much today - but he ate a lot yesterday). Am proud of a moment this arvo when he was really grizzly when DH was trying to feed him. I just *felt* like he was needing distraction from the grizzling, so I took him - walked him to the back door (where it was bright) and talked to him about 'that's enough crying for now. We love you and it's time to eat, so be a good boy and have your bottle'. He'd stopped crying when I picked him up and when I took him back to DH, he ate calmly and fell asleep on the bottle. DH was very impressed and tried the same technique the next time he was grizzly!!
I also recommend the NCSS book - we're going through it now and although we don't really have any issues, I've already gained some insight into problem areas. ie: we now do a night time routine with Liam where we put some music on (Loreena McKennit) and dim the lights, turn the TV off and wrap him. He knows it's bedtime then! I've also learnt to try to re-settle him in his cot if he wakes up grumpy from a nap (unless he's due for a feed). I only get him out of bed if he wakes up happy (or doesn't re-settle from the dummy). I love hearing him wake up and then start 'talking' to his mobile!! So cute!
I'm starting to prepare for my return to work (mentally) but I'm not looking forward to it... I know I'm going to miss Liam like crazy.

DH is home here too. I also have my mother here, and two brothers. (big house, still cramped, but I need them so i deal) They all help me, even if it's just to thaw some frozen soup. on this diet, i don't know how i'd do it without help. I'm 49 kilos again, and it's stressing me out a bit - even with all this help! I'm ready for dh to go back to work two days a week now though. he puts ci to bed at night so we have to transition Ci into the new pattern first.
Jen, let me know how your friend goes on the zinc. make sure she gets liquid or powder first. Manganese also. I have other tips on pnd, i had it very severely with dd, only just survived it. was she separated from her baby directly after the birth for any amount of time? so your wee one goes in awake? that's odd then. maybe she is catnapping because she can't stay awake long? I know Ci struggled to stay awake longer than half an hour/hour, so for a while there we just did about 7 short naps a day. he still does four a day - he just can't last long enough, plus he feeds often, so to make sure he's awake for enough of the day (and therefore not taking awake time at night to make up for it!) we just did the short nap thing. they grow into longer naps, esp if they are happy nappers like yours seems to be.

Firstly :slap: Fire for apologising for your long post. Thought we all agreed never to apologise for our posts.
Meg If Greer wakes when I transfer to the cot, I just pick her up and settle and try again. I try to put her down keeping my arm under her neck and slowly remove that after tucking in the blankets with my spare hand, it seems to lessen the startle effect of taking her out of my arms. Doesn't always work and if it doesn't I usually try patting and give her my finger to suck on. In extreme cases I'll lean into the cot with the boobie and let her suck back to sleep - it isn't good on your back, but it gets her to sleep so I suffer a little for the peace of sleep later.
I've been finding taking Greer outside helps to settle her when she is really bad she has been screaming lately. Think it is a lot to do with the info Fire posted about the way that tribes do things and don't have the issues we do. Thinking our processed lifestyles add to it. So much so that I'm thinking of following in Fire's footsteps and doing a detox to try and eliminate Greer's digestive issues. See I jinxed myself saying she didn't really have any and was suprised since she was a c-sec birth. We are getting it all now, reflux, wind, watery poos - you name it she appears to be having it.
GTG have DS at home today and we are going to do some drawing now.
Lila slept like normal (11-9) the past two nights! No idea why. So much happier, both of us. I hope hope it keeps going.
Had vax yesterday at the new doctor's. This one is an Arab woman, she wears hijab and everything and judging from the packed waiting room most of her patients are Arab immigrant families. Fantastic. I feel very much at home in that sort of setting and the Dr. was great. She said she sees lots of cloth nappies and was telling me the health and bonding benefits of baby wearing. It was all stuff I had read already, gave me a good feeling about her to have her telling me though. Lila was alright with the shots, cried when the stuck her but settled soon enough. Was a little more grizzly than usual last night so I gave her a little panadol for the pain and an extra feed and she slept soundly. A little extra clingy today but that's fine. Anyway I'm kind of hoping to maybe make a young Arab mummy friend and we can trade arabic-english lessons. i used to study it at uni and I don't want to lose it.
Janine- do you use your tickle turdle wraps? I love love love mine and bought some more wool yesterday to make more since mine are getting too small/ratty. Found such lovely nice wool- Clickheaton's. Smooth and soft and machine washable.. I can't believe you're 49 kilos, you poor poor chicken. Good grief, I thought I was looking pretty good at 68 kilos... I hope you find out better what you can eat so you can put some weight back on. Very shocking. And thanks for the info on slinging outwards, I didn't know that and the part about them not being able to turn away from too much stimulus didn't occur to me. I'll keep that in mind. I do face her out sometimes but its with frogged up legs and not usually for very long. When she starts voicing unhappiness I take her out.
Nettie-I think having a good baby is part luck, but also being calm and confident yourself- sounds like you're both soo good with baxter, of course he'll be sweet and good and trustful. That trust one seems to be the most important, I feel like Lila trusts me more now than she did at first. Like trusts me to be there when she needs me and not leave her alone. There's not really any scientific research for it, but I wonder if perhaps Dr. Spock and his back-a$$-wards methods that so many practiced has something to do with the epidemic of depression and distrust of one's elders that is so rife these days. I mean, its all a rich tapestry of course, but maybe people learn from an early age that they can only rely on themselves...? Oooh sorry for the rant.. hehe.
Jen- My Lila has outgrown her sling mostly so I ordered a Mei Tai. I like the way it looks and what I've heard but I don't have mine yet so I can't personally attest to how much I like it. I'm pretty sure Lila will like it too, she likes best being upright and pressed against one of us. I'm hoping hoping that maybe when I get it she'll practically live in it and I can work again. I mean, if women work in rice paddies with their baby on their back, surely I can sit at a cafe writing with a baby on mine??
Meg- You can do it. You love your baby, you're such a good mother. It's just really hard sometimes, especially when the routine is disrupted and you don't know what to expect next. I was feeling just like you and then magically Lila started back on her regular sleeping pattern. You can do it. One minute follows another, one hour at a time. You can. It won't always be like that I promise.
Beatrix- :hug: Its hard staying out of the chocolate (and the coffee, and everything good... sigh) I hope it gets easier for you soon, maybe xdh could help a bit??

I love my wraps! But they're all too small now and I don't seem to find the time to do projects now. I'm also finding that with the gut yeast, Ci's nappy area isn't fine in cloth nappies, so I've put him in sposies most of the day. Sad, but true. I'm hoping I can go back to cloth when his gut is better and he doesn't get that sore red ring around his bum and *!*. :lol:
Grubi, the detox I'm on ROCKS. It is horrendous for healing crisis. I get horrible headaches and Ci screams for hours if I dose him too high which I believe is gut pain from the die off. But my skin is amazing, it hasn't been like this since I was a teenager, seriously. And his skin is sooooo much better. We're only dealing with the scalp issue now, the facial one is so mild I don't even need cream on it. For more info on what we're doing, it starts on this page of my blog: c-section syndrome. I just got the Threelac yesterday in the mail with the power killer oxygen with enzymes. WOWZA. I peed outta my butt so much is moving outta there, 'scuse the gross detail, but it really kills those suckers, you can tell. :lol: I can't give that to Ci, but if my gut flora picks up, my breast milk will contain more good bacteria and healing factors.
Belle Thanks for your post in the other half. I think that it was because she was so fussy for a couple of days. Tonight can hear her nasal comgestion - was probably headcold pain that was causing the mass screams and fussy feeds which lead to the watery poos.
Fire will read your info on c-section syndrome when I get the chance. Still thinking of doing the detox, and expect it will be a little trying, might ease into it since we don't have any major issues to deal with, just back off the offending items like wheat and milk asap. Was thinking of getting some Lifestart for the flora myself.
Just did a quick scan read and WOW - informative - Fire - will definitely be cutting out that wheat (yeast and gluten too)and dairy the later being the harder for me to give up in order to help both of us heal. Once again Fire thanks you really help with all your research.

Liam's been a bit sicky today, but I reckon we've got a bit slack and blazey (sp?) about the formula. Sometimes it's out of the fridge for too long before we give it to him so we're trying a new regime where we have a 1 hr rule. Once it's been heated up, we have 1 hour to give it to him - then it gets chucked. We currently pre-make our formula too which isn't what the packet says so it this doesn't help, we'll be strictly adhering to the packet instructions... trouble is, when you try to make it up like they say, it doesn't dissolve properly and the special feeder bottles we have to use for Liam get clogged up at the membrane with undissolved formula. Not to mention that you just CAN'T make it up with a baby in your arms... you need two hands - how practical is that???
Anyway - just finished my lovely custard I just made (mmmm....:lol:) so am now off to bed!

Nettie- I don't know much about it, but have you seen those powder-formula mixy bottle things? I feel like I just saw one today and was puzzling over what its for, maybe its for that? So you can mix it properly and hold the baby? I'm sure I don't know but thought I'd mention it..?
Well today seemed to be a better day. Not great, but better. I dont feel any better though :( She seems to be okay if i wrap her, then feed her, then put her in the cot. It works, sometimes. Its really hit and miss with her. One moment it will work, the next it wont.
I kinda wish i had more ppl around me to help and support me. I feel so isolated and alone sometimes.
*Sigh* How depressed do i sound hey?? Sorry girls, I should cheer up a bit more and look on the bright side of things..which, at the moment i cant see what they are, but im sure if you give me a while, ill think of something. Nothing seems to go my way.
And, and, i want a cuddle from Ben :cry: he left for work and we werent on very good terms, and i said sorry, and i think he is still mad at me coz i havent heard from him all night, which is unusual for him.
Meg - :hug: you poor thing, you do sound down. I'm sure things will improve soon honey. We all go through the odd 'down' stage.
Fire - Thanks for the info. Very interesting indeed. I'm thinking I might need to do the detox too. We had been fine, and then just today he suddenly comes out in a dry red rash over his torso and legs. I can't think of anything I've eaten that is new. I have had a sore throat though. Do you think a cold could cause a rash like that?

Shoegal - Are you still in Perth? Nice to see you back in. I have a peanut shell sling, but have not used it since he was about 8 weeks - will have to figure out how to use it at the size he is now.

Well, as you can see by the time, I'm having a shocker of a night. Jack has been awake since 2 and will not settle. Is not crying, just making cute little peeping noises and fussing about. He seems to only be happy if I am holding him while i am seated - which means no sleep for me. As soon as I lie down with him, he fusses and wakes again. ARGHHHHH! Very unusual for him. He usually settles straight away after a feed during the night. I'm thinking he must be sick with something - sudden dry rash, change in sleep etc. Any ideas what it might be?
Well... we are now up for the day. Yay.

Meg- sorry to hear that you are still having a rough trot, have you had Bubba checked out for reflux??? Could it be something you are eating that is upsetting her tummy? Maybe see a dr and have a word to them abotu how you are feeling too.

Nettie- Premaking formal as long as it is in the fridge after you have made up is fine. You can try a forumal dispenser which you can put 3 amounts of forumla in then when add it after you have heated the water not b4

Leyla,it could be sick of some sort, or tummy ache, or temporary heartburn or detox - the skin leads me to believe detox. I have laid down and held Ci while he cries. Sometimes I just have to, I figure I'm there, and if he needs a cry then I'll let him cry. The only time crying is really bad is if they're left alone or if you don't try to search for a cause first. Once all possibilities as far as you can gather have been eliminated, then cry on cowboy, mamas here. As long as you are there, you need not stress. I've found success most of the time by laying him on my chest, stomach to stomach, and rolling from side to side on the bed. He has fallen asleep like that, but mostly it just shuts him up :lol:. Another type of "bedrock" tool. Did it last night, actually. He still has a cold so he's been a nightmare for a week. Not much sleep going on here. But I made a deal with myself before he was born - I WILL NOT GET OUT OF BED TO SOOTHE HIM after bedtime!! And I never have, not once. And he has learned to figure it out in bed or give up, cos I ain't starting that rollercoaster. I sometimes sit up if he is spitting milk up, or coughing, of course. I don't force him horizontal if he needs assistance. All day I bounce and rock and whatever he wants/needs and he is carried constantly by someone who loves him in the family but mostly me. His life is beautiful and loving. So at night, it's all done on the bed, usually laying down. I'm half asleep all night even though last night, God bless 'im, he fed every half an hour cos it unblocks his nose.

Just popping in to say we are off for a weigh in and vaccs today....gonna be a long and probably crabby day for BJ...but he's been so perfect of late, Im not too concerned!!!

Very excited here today ... DH put Liam down in his cot last night *awake* and then left him... 10 mins later he had put himself to sleep! He did it again this morning (at 5 am) and it worked again! I'm trying now and we'll see what happens... He's never done this before. Remember - Liam can't hold his own dummy in so that means he's been getting to sleep without the dummy and just by sucking his own hand! Clever little boy!
Also, it's mummy's group today so I'm really looking forward to that!
Must go & check how he's doing (he's awfully quiet)...

AHH my little pumpkin slept 8pm-7am!! NO wake up! I was so cencerned when Ben came home at 6:30 and id realised she hadnt had a feed, and i went in and the poor little darling was fast asleep with no blankies on her, she had kicked them off. She was still warm so i didnt wake her, i just put her fluffy blankie over her and tucked it into the cot.
HMM now i need to think of how i can keep the blankies on her so she doesnt kick them off and potentially get too cold. I know she will wake and let me know if she is cold, but id still like to keep her nice and warm and snug :)
Isabell is 6 kilos, or just over, now. Such a chubba lol. And she is rolling. I finally managed to get a video of it so Ben can see and believe me, he just happened to miss it the first time by about 3 or so mins. I cant seem to put her on her tummy now, she just rolls off of it lol.
Sorry, no personals atm, but ill come in when i get isabell down for her sleep. (she slept twice for 2 hours yesterday!! Im hoping she will do the same today, all that rolling must have tired her out!)
Meg- That's so great she gave you a reprieve! About covers/ keeping warm/ not being kicked off I LOVE grobags. You can get them in different weights, the .5 feels like a double sheet and the 2.5 feels like a nice heavy blankie. If you google babygurgles you'll find probably the cheapest new ones even after conversion from dollars to pounds and paying shipping. I bought mine for $85 :doh: before I found them online.
Lila's back to getting up at 4am and wanting to feed and then play for hours. I'm really really over it, I got angry this morning even though it was pretty irrational. If she'd do that every night, then ok, but its cruel to give me a night or two off and then go back to being a pain. I find she creeps halfway down the cot in the night. This morning I gave up around 8am. Marched DH out of bed, gave him the baby and announced I wanted to sleep for a few hours and he'd better keep her happy so she didn't wake me up. I'm not usually that bossy or demanding but I think it works in my favor because when I am, he snaps to attention.
Anyway, off to hang out some nappies and make some tortillas and sort the meat from yesterday's butcher run... Wooo.
Could i still wrap isabell if I were to use a grobag?
Meg apparently grobags are the next step up from wrapping. If you're getting a lot out of wrapping then I'm not sure if a grobag would suit. Although it may, I haven't used one and have seriously considered it. I think I wanna buy one on ebay.

Steph that sucks. DD used to do that at 4am. FWIW, I can't remember when but I know it wasn't long before she was sleeping from 7pm until 7am - and she still is, six years later.

steph you must be exhausted. those middle-0f-the-night wakeups are the worst. hope they stop soon. and i know exactly what you mean about the inconsistency - it's a little trick babies use to torment tired parents ;).

not much news from me - just very tired. i'm really hoping dd will extend her naps soon because half an hour is just so short. i want to try getting her to fall asleep by herself (as opposed to being rocked/fed to sleep, then put down) but it's so hard to find the time with a demanding 4-year-old as well.
now my half-hour's up now so must go...
Meg- I have wrapped her and put her in a grobag, I used a light muslin one since the grobag was heavier and pinned the wrap so she wouldn't get tangled or anything. Usually I don't bother anymore, and the putting on of the grobag signals bedtime.
Janine- thanks for the encouragement. I feel like such a brat whining here, Lila's such a good baby and I get heaps of help but still. Sometimes its all just a bit much. I was crabby with her this morning and I'm sure she remembers and is kind of standoffish because of it. I feel so bad. :(
Mgm- good luck with the day naps. Lila kind of has them lately, but only with me (fine, I can use the rest) and wakes up the second I move away.

Well i went and got MJ weighed today and its kinda not good.. She has lost 80grams from her prevous weigh in 5 weeks ago and is only 5.4kg. Im hoping that maybe the bronciolitis when she was sick is why she lost weight.. or maybe cause she has grown 5 cm in that time as well
beatrix, is that the wonder weeks of the book you refer to? if so, what is that book like? a woman makes good grobags on ebay and sells them for about $30. my friend is happy with the one she bought.
Steph, don't apologise. this is the hardest thing a person can do, raising kids. esp this stage. makes us appreciate all the crap our parents put us through, eh :lol:. and trust me, you'll get cranky with her many more times yet! and feel guilt every single time. and you'll both forget all about those times - every single time. :)
