Theresa yes it is an inguinal hernia

Went to specialist today really nice guy/ he is operating on Hayden Monday 29/5 which is the next day he is at Angliss Hospital (where they were born) he is going to do both sides as he said often the other side a hernia pops up too. I also need to keep an eye on Adam as he said with twins if one gets it then often both get hernias within days of another. If Adam gets it too soon he sais he can do them both the same day

well after saying all lovely things about my little man he has turned into a tyrant in the evenings, heaps of crying and very unsettled. Can't seem to work out what the problem is so just have to wear it through each night until his night feed when he finally sleeps!!!1 which is now!, am waiting to make sure hehas really settled before attempting to sleep as it is really frustrating going to bed and then having to get up 30 minutes later cause he has a pain or something.
Theresa - I have heaps of lovely help from my MIL. She is coming up twice a day to chase chooks and feed the calf and horses and cowes. I also had to go to the docs today to get my wound checked. There is a small opening with a little bit of 'pus' so now we are also on antibiotics and had a swab taken. Doc thinks at the most it is the beginning of an infection but we have caught it really early, currently no pain or anything, just a bit of yuk. Hope yours settles quickly.
Abs - great to hear that you and Jen have found a solution to her back pains. Nothing worse than back pain that seemingly has no end. Bet Jordan is happy too!
Currently can't think or remember any further, oh - Kelly hope the boys are well, and the hernia problem is quickly resolved, sounds like your doc is on top of it which is fantastic!
For those of you that have stopped breast feeding, what do you do with the milk in your breasts? Isn't it agony or does it dry up quickly?? I know that if I haven't fed for more than 5 hours mine are very full and quickly become hard and painful if they are not drained properly... Also the midwives at my hospital use NAN.. any opinions? they reckon it is the closest thing to breast milk and lowest incidence of allergic reactions or developing allergies or something like that???
well sounds like my little man has settled and stopped his nighttime "I don't want to be in bed" complaints, so it's off to bed for this tired mum! We've got our second checkup with the maternal and child health nurse tomorrow so we are going out for the day to visit the MIL at her house and to enjoy a change of scenery from my own four walls.
    night all.

Kelly - It was Becky that had the scrapbook made for her. Wonder how she's doing - haven't heard from her in a while...

    Hope everyone is well

    Hi girls

just popping in quickly with a funny story from Jen's trip visit to Brisbane yesterday

She was sitting in Qantas Club in Brisbane waiting for her flight back to Sydney... Boobs rather full, so off she goes to the ladies... Is in there, battery operated pump purring away, expressing her milk. God knows what anyone else coming in there might have thought

    Default Hello Everyone!

Today is the 1st time that I have managed a spare few minutes to jump online. Olivia is wonderful and behaving very well:-I normally only have to get up once or twice a night to feed her. We had our 1st health centre visit and she has only put on 60 grams so I have been told to feed her 3 hourly during the day. I have perservered with the sore nipples and am still breast feeding for now!!
I will have to get my ticker organised and pop some pics up of Olivia.
I hope everyone is well, I promise to pop online more frequently. I have just read all the posts so atleast I am up to date. My little girl is 2 weeks and 3 days today...

hi all, one handed typing is a skill i"m going to have to master I can see!
We had our 2nd visit today with the maternal health nurse. Caden is putting on an average of 40grams a day and she is very pleased! Makes it worth all the feeds during the day.
Abs - can't imagine what people were thinking if they were listening to Jen... definitely would have some people wondering...
KelliC - good to hear from you and that olivia is being good, and aren't the sore nipples difficult, makes fededing less than enjoyable. I've been using lansinoh and it has helped me heaps. heals sore breasts inbetween feeds, best gift I've been given.
Also used my hug-a-bub for the first time today out in public, it's fantastic, absolutely love it, so comfy and Caden loved it, slept and wriggled and looked around all afternoon! Got heaps of comments from people about it so directed them to bellybelly, gotta rush, need to get organised to go home, currently at the mIL for the evening to have dinner and a 'night out!'
sorry about no personals, try to catch up tomorrow night.
also just found out that I can have home help for an extra two weeks if I want so will definitely say yes when they call, means I won't have to clean the house for six weeks, very cool,
    night all.

KellyW, hope June is a better month, with healthy twinnies.

Joy, hope it gets easier for u, the first few wks are a nightmare... :-)

Abs, hehe, that would be funny. Oh, the pickies are in a 2nd 'Holly' album in my yahoo pickies, just click on 'photo gallery' in www.

KelliC, glad u r both well.

Hehe Sush, they can be demanding can't they. Miss Holly wakes with a tantrum, demanding to be fed immediately, hehe.

Oh dear Lisa, hope u get some answers & rest soon. Thnx, someone else took them.

Well obgyn said uterus is back to normal size, he did quick u/sound. However still bleeding, so if doesn't stop in another 4wks, then need curette, but some people just go longer than 6wks (yeah, that'd be me, doh). :-) Have a paed checkup for Miss Holly this afternoon, straight after our antenatal class reunion.

oops sorry to hear that Theresa, but I'm sure you'll look back in a while and giggle

We had our paed appt this arvo (I snuck away from doing work to tag along, and boy there was a few emails waiting for me when I got back)

He's put on 1.4kg since leaving hospital - and grown 3cm in length and 2cm in head circumference. Doc was really happy with the results, and basically allround. Doesn't want to see him again, unless there is a specific purpose

And how are you all going with #2's... When Jordy does let go, we call him SuPooStar. We've been calling him Superstar for a while due to being so good with everything. Though the episode this arvo almost floored Jen this arvo... got me pretty peeved coz she was being more a hinderance than a help in changing him - all but told her to leave the room, I'll get it done quicker

abs, you habe to show my DH how to do change a nappy. He never wants to put the nappy on tight enough, only just doing the tabs up, and I have to undress Charlie and do it right everytime. Then he complains that I'm cutting off Charlie's circulation! Oh come now! I'm tired of having poos leak out the sides coz he's too scared to put a nappy on right!

    Ouch Theresa.

Oh man Sush, I have the same prob here, but maily wee leaking out. DH has changed Holly's nappy a few times before bed & when I get up for the 2am feeds I find she has wet through her clothes & wrap.

Well Holly had her paed aptmt yesterday, sacral dimple closing in well, hips have matured, cardio check perfect, neck tumour shrinking, bare weight 3.94kg (+1kg since birth) so a great result, everything but height in 25 percentile. My obgyn checkup went well too, couldn't get overdue yrly pap done as still bleeding so he said if doesnt stop in 4wks then curette, but I'm sure it will. :-)

I know all about the not tight enough too sushee... when I go to change Jordy after Jen has changed him, the nappy is halfway down his bum - I reckon... Is Tight, Is Good

(though she does do it tight enough to stop anything leaking - so far anyway)

ok, 4th attempt to post in 2 days. Hopefully there won't be any dramas in the next 5 minutes and I can actually finish posting!

Shell - Glad to hear Holly's check up went well and everything seems to be resolving itself.

Sushee - good to hear from you, I was wondering how you are going. You have one gorgeous little man there!

Damn, gotta go, Janae's crying about something. I tell you, if it's not one of them its the other one - gotta love being a mum!!

    Speak soon

    Hi All,
Its been a while since i posted here its taken a while to catch up on all the posts, i assume majority of you were in the "due in april" thread and transfered across?
I wasn't due until June & have been keeping update with all the Junies which are starting to approach the end of their pg journey!

Went to MCH centre today. Nixon weighed 2940grams so approx 50g a day in the last week and 644grams in total. I breast fed there to check if i was doing it right, she was very happy with his feeding! Because Nixon was almost 7 weeks early he is going in a later mothers group. Not starting till mid July so he will be the eldest.
His feeds have been anywhere in between 3-5hrs, sometimes he wakes screaming after 2hrs but not for a feed, he seems to settle as soon as he is cuddled. i really don't want to get into this habit or he'll know as soon as he cries he gets held... any suggestions?

Shell- i have been bleeding for 5 weeks now and starting to get worried its never going to stop! i still have mild contraction, period like cramps at night. My ob appoin isnt for another week & hope all stopped by then. so ur doc reons u could bleed for
another 4 weeks? gee thats a long time isnt it?
Joy- im getting used to the one handed type too! i prob make a heap of sp mistakes and dont realise!
Kelly W- i hope little Hayden's op goes alright & that Adam doe not get one. isnt that strange that what one twin gets the other can follow suite? any reasoning behind that do u know?

    Hi all,

nic, Charlie's the same, wants to be cuddled all the time. DH reckons I'm spoiling him by giving in, but heck, I've wanted this baby so long, I can make some concessions. I reckon he'll soon be at the age when he won't want to know his mum (like my teenagers!) so I'll enjoy him for the moment.

Charlie's broken out in a rash, which apparently the CHN says is normal for his age, but am a little sad that he'll look so blotchy in the photos for his chirstening this Sunday! Lol! Aside from that, despite weighing almost 5kgs now, he's still waking every 2-4 hours day and night for a feed. The CHN reckons that that's why he weighs almost 5kgs! It's good he's thriving, but I'm starting to get badly sleep deprived.

Shell and nic, I hope the bleeding stops for you soon. Mine has, but every now and then, I spot for a few hours. Go figure. I hope you won't need a curette, Shell.

Bel, thanks for wondering after me, I have been wondering how you've been doing as well. Sounds like you have your hands full! Your little man is a cutie. He looks so alert and aware in that photo.

Well, I'm off to make some lunch for myself while his majesty is having his arvo nap. At least I have that little routine from him, and I know that I'll have at least a couple of hours every arvo to make dinner and re-group. Just hope I haven't spoken too soon now and he'll spend the next few days awake and screaming all pm!

    love

    Hi everyone,

Well I am still here, my little man is still a shocker and it is causing me to really worry if something is seriously wrong! We went to the health nurse today and he is over 5kg, she is worried that at 6 weeks, he doesn't hold your gaze, follow your voice or smile, is anyone else's baby this old and still not doing those things??

I am off to the doctor tomorrow for a checkup so hopefully he will be able to give me some good news, it is a bit of a worry really!

Sorry for no personalls someone has just woken up again!

nic, I wouldn't worry about giving in to cuddles too much at this age - this is when they need it!! I spend a lot of the day cuddling both my kids while I can - I have to go back to work too soon - although it's hard when Janae wants cuddles at the same time as bubs. Josiah does the same thing as Nixon, waking up screaming in between feeds, but settling as soon as I pick him up. I think sometimes they just get a pain in their belly and can't change position to move it. I find a lot of the time Josiah will just go straight back to sleep once I've moved him.

Sush - Hope Charlie's rash clears up in time for his christening! Josiah wakes every 2-4 hours as well. Haven't had him weighed since just after we got home from hospital, but he's definitely getting rounder and taller - put him in the baby carrier today and his head was poking out over the top - when I last used it he was so little snuggled in there that apart from his legs sticking out you would have thought I was wearing an empty baby bjorn around the shops!

Lisa - sorry to hear you're still having troubles with Tyron - I hope the doc can give you some good news. Try not to worry too much - babies do things at different rates - and the little man has probably been so busy trying to cope with his reflux he hasn't had time to 'practice' anything else. Anyway, praying that everything is ok with him and that things settle for you soon.

Ok, off to bed for me. Oh, I've put a couple of photos on my website if anyones interested...

    Speak soon

    Bel
