: Adding details
Just a quick note... added my ticker today, amazing what 5 solid hours of sleep will do for someone. Interesting to note that it has taken us over a month to get through one thread, that must be some twisted kind of record for our group!
have a good night everyone!
hehe, I noticed the timing too Joy, but it'll speed up once everyone is able to get online again
Several have been MIA for a while !!!
Well, we had a breakthrough this arvo - found the problem for Jen's back. The triangle pillow she had been using wasn't "tall" enough (vertically) to get Jordy into the right spot
So she was basically crouching over to push her boobs down a bit so he could reach em. I noticed the curled over shoulders and told her to pull em back. Of course he lost the nipple and couldn't reach it
Put another pillow under the triangle and wala!! She has her shoulders pulled back, is sitting very comfortably (well in comparison to before) and thank god, Jordy is still loving the boob
She was very stressed and crying about not being able to feed properly and all the benefits that b/f'ing gives and wanting the best for him etc etc. Spoke with my mum yesterday who basically said she will probably have to accept the fact that she won't be able to feed him anymore. Well that idea is now out the window - YIPPEEEE
Still gotta follow on with a bottle, but at least he's getting some breast milk
Now, what lovely things did all you ladies get for mothers day (and for some, your FIRST mothers day). Seeing I recently started working at home, it meant I don't get to the shops at all, so didn't "buy" anything - not even a card
But I have to pop into my office tomorrow (do my timesheet) so will get a card, and I'm gonna give her a handwritten voucher to say this is for a photo session of her, Jordy and me, when she wants to do it (she said something about getting this done a few days ago)
Susan – Re formula, we started using Karicare in hospital for topups so we still use the same brand for night tops ups for the boys. We are using the Gold version, don’t know if the hospital was using regular or gold.
Weight – Had the boys weighed last Friday (5½ weeks old) Hayden is now 4kg – he put on about 750gm in 2 weeks and Adam is just under 4kg
Jope everyone had a great mothers day - Ours was eventful
Saturday night we went for dinner at friends house and got home around 10.30pm. Went to change the boys then feed them before going to bed. Changed Hayden first and found a lump in his groin (upper area) Stressed out immediately. We rushed to emergency at the local hospital, luckily as the boys were noisy (hungry) they took us through quickly so I could feed them. Had about 1.5 hr wait for doctor which I guess is pretty good for Saturday night.
Anyway Hayden has a hernia - plus of course a stressed mummy
We had our 6 week check with doctor today so he arranged for me to see a specialist tomorrow (good that he rang as I guess if I rang I wouldn't have got in so quickly) so my little boy will have to have an operation soon.
Apart from that a great mothers day. Brecky at our local restaurant, voucher for a massage and a block of DAS so we can get hand and foot impressions of the boys.
hmmm, might have to look into the DAS Kelly - where does that come from ?? I remember my sister saying something about it, having Toby done just after he passed on for memory purposes
Hmm, well Jordy has been a right pain today - barely slept since 7.30 this morning - could be the change in formula and blocked bottom ?? Various calls around the family... been recommended multigen ?? - is mixed with the formula and helps it being processed. Off to the chemist shortly
Shoulder wise, Jen's still happy with the new setup
I have been so slack with posting but i have been dropping in to see how you all are doing. Abbey is going very well. feeds and sleeps great, one night she slept all through and i usually only need to get up twice, which has been great. Here's hoping she keeps it up lol
Abs... sorry to hear that jen was having such bad troubles with her back, but so happy you have it all sorted. I was going to suggest she try feeding while lying down. It's so comfortable and i usually feed abbey like that at night as she goes to sleep easier. I just lie on my side and lie her on hers. Hope jordan is feeling better soon.
KellyW.... Oh no on the hernia.. hope it all goes well and hayden is feeling better soon.
Joy... sleep is great isn't it. hope Caden keeps it up for you.
Lisa... yeah on not needing the operation and on having him more settled.
Well i was going to do more posts but abbey has just started crying so better go see what she wants.
Catch up soon
And Happy Mothers Day to everyone... hope you all got spoilt!
I know what you mean about being slack in posting Amanda - I've been REALLY slack - I check on the posts heaps, but never get around to actually posting. I feel bad, seeing we were such a chatty bunch before!
Kelly - Glad the boys are putting on weight nicely - sorta wish my boy was only just 4kg - he came out that size! I just want him to stay little for longer... oh no at Hayden having a hernia though, poor little man. Glad you got to see someone about it quickly though. How do they get hernia's so little? Come to think of it, how does anyone get a hernia?
Might have to have a look for that das - it'd be nice to do Josiah's feet, and Janae's while I'm at it - never got around to doing hers when she was born. I did have the new girl at work offer to do an alginate impression for me when I went to visit the other day. To be honest I was so shocked that she, as a new employee, was offering to use expensive dental materials for babys footprints without even knowing who I was (or that I worked there and am essentially her boss) that all I could do was shake my head! The boss would have hit the roof if she knew that was going on!
Anyway, I'm off to bed, have a massive headache and should really sleep while Josiah's asleep. Janae's at daycare tomorrow, so I'll check in then.
Abs, has Jen tried a BF pillow? I use a boomerang pillow on my lap with a cushion or 2 under each edge, then lay bub on it so dont even need to use my hands/arms, maybe something like this may help. :-)
Just noticed ur latest post, looks like ur already doin this, hehe.
Lisa, that is great news, congrats.
Theresa, Joy & Amanda, that is great that ur bub's are going longer between feeds at night. Holly goes 7-8hrs between nightly feeds now, was 5-6hrs at 3.5wks old, I'm lovin it.
KellyW, great weight for ur boys. Holly was 4kg bare weight Thur too. :-)
Poor lil Hayden, what a scare. When I found the lump in Holly's neck I stressed a bit thinking what if it was cancerous, as GP thought it'd need surgery, but turned out to be benign. I'm sure they'll take great care of Hayden & he'll be as good as gold soon.
Wow, that DAS sounds like a great idea. I was thinkin of getting some stamp ink that is safe to use for baby footprints.
Bel, hope that sleep got rid of ur headache.
Formula: Someone told DH that S21 Gold was the best too, so bought some stick packs. But I heard it causes constipation in some, think it did this to Holly too. A friend said anything 'gold' caused constipation in her lil boy.
Oooh, can't wait for my proof & order sheet to arrive this wk for our photo shoot last wk at skovgaardphotography. Unfortunately Holly had broken out in lots of milk pimples though, but B&W wont show them up. The photographer took a few SIDS promotional photos (teddy &/or nose) of Holly too, hope they get used, hehe, our lil girl modelling. :-)
Well better jump in shower, got obgyn chkup today & Paed on Thur, 2nd hip u/sound went well.
I seem to be flat out doing nothing!!! don't get time to scratch.
I have mastitis again - this is my second bout of it - very very painful - on the antibiotics again. I have given up breast feeding and put charlie onto formula - my bbobs just couldn't take it any more. I am not getting mastitis from doing anything wrong - we are emptying the full boob and there not cracked. The dr said it could judt be my body - the same duct keeps getting blocked
Formula Brand - I use the S-26 AR - as charlie spues the whole lot up. I have heard the s-26 is very good. ( by god there poo smells soo much worse!!!!!)
I am just going to go back and read everyones posts
Shell – we are going to hand and footprints too, for their scrapbook album – steve bought water paint for that.
Re scrapbooking – can anyone remember who was given a baby scrapbook album from her sister (I think) I remember looking at the photos which were great – I just want to look again to give me some inspiration as I have never scrapbooked before
We didn’t like our hospital photos – they were over exposed and didn’t look natural – have booked to have pixie photos taken on Monday so hope they are better
Shell, constipation is such the wrong word from the sounds of it... I've done a bit of searching and talking to people over the last 24hours
Bubs on formula can go anywhere up to about 10 days without pooing... Constipation is if it comes out like pellets. We call Jordy's "concrete sludge"
And someone said the other day (and we think the same) that the Karicare range doesn't have too bad an odour - certainly not as bad as some of you make out the S26 range to be causing
Oh, and we plan on trying some lying down feeding later today I think. Jen had to go to brissie this morning for a very good friends mother's funeral... Fortunately both Mik (and his wife Celia) were both working in India last week and able to get back before she passed on (had been suffering from Motor Neurone Disease for some time, so it was expected) - they are normally based in England at the moment
KellyW, Pixie do great pics. My sis took my nephew there.
Theresa, hehe. Oh man my Miss Holly has such a temper, she's near tearing my nipples off now, flattening them, lil bugger. Funny the things they do. :-)
Well the drafts/proofs os the B&W photos are now avail on my www, until DH looks & tells me to remove some.
Shell: You were right re: Mastitis and Hospital. I really should have gotten onto it quicker but of course didnt and ended up in Hospital for another 3 days on IV antibiotics. So Jacci - I totally sympathise. It's terrible. I too have given up expressing and gone onto Formula.
