Oh, has anyone else suffered from MAJOR constipation??

I was fine for the first week and bit after Normal VB birth, but have been constipation for last week or so now. Granted I have not being drinking like a camel like i was when prg still that was 5-7lt a day now I am luck if I get 1lt in. I have been taken enerma to help when need to go, along with take a wide range of different pills, fiber, and fruit but nothing seem to help.

Oh, it would be nice for me to be able to go to toliet and do what I need to with out help or fear, 'cos it going to hurt.

    Any suggestions would be great...

    Cheers
    Sarah

Ooh, don't be too chatted out Janine! I'd love to know more about babybiotics, and should I be taking something for myself as well since I am BF'ing? Where can I get them from? Would you believe that Baxter is really quite settled? UTI's in little boys show no outward signs of distress.

Sarah - I suffer badly from constipation and do all the right things. I had a vag birth and the haemorroids I suffered from afterwards were horrendous. They have only just disappeared now. I'm seeing my GP next week for more help. I don't want a lifetime of being on Coloxyl. I've tried Metamucil and Benefibre and neither does a lot of good for me.

Grubi - how are you feeling today? I had a meltdown too last night and called DH to desperately come home from football training, I'd just had enough.

DH at work this morning (we own our own business) then he has Baxter all afternoon. Gosh that sounds so bad but I am really looking forward to a break.

ETA - Woot! Just got Baxter to sleep. He never normally has a morning sleep (too awake and alert) but I picked up on his tired signs. Small victory for mummy!

Sarah are you breastfeeding? constipation seems to be a common problem when BF. I had it after birth of DS and am determined not to repeat this. I eat several dried apricots daily and this seems to help (as well as lots of water). I believe figs are best, so if you like them (I don't!) dried figs would be helpful. Have you seen your GP? They mmight have suggestions. I remember mine said to eat kiwifruits, including the peel, but i think they're out of season now. Good luck, I hope you resolve it soon.

beatrix and Shoegal, I've also had some bleeding. I noticed when i had my first shower after the caesar that my bum felt different and I think it's haemorrhoids (but not sure since I've never had them before). Whatever it is, it was definitely not there before labour, and I never even got to the pushing stage so I imagine it was the pressure that caused it. I hope it stops because I'm really not keen to go see the doctor about it! I had my share of indignities while giving birth and that was quite enough thanks...

grubi hope your day's been better than your night.

Oh, and beatrix, spring cleaning? You're amaziing! it's all I can do just to empty the rubbish bin!

I've had a bit of constipation too, but it's directly related to how much water I drink - so that's my advice - drink up!

Trying to get some extra sleep today so am heading back to bed in a sec (DH & DS are there now!)...

Still in PJ's - but I have showered & brushed my teeth today (hooray).. am washing the few clothes that fit at the moment so it's easier to stay in PJ's!

Didn't make it to the health food shop or chemist today to get probiotics, so will do so tomorrow - hope we're ok til then!

    *Yawn* catchya all later!

Babywrangler - congrats on your fantastic night! It must be such a relief. for more of the same. Also, great news about not having to go back to work!! My DH has decided the same. He wants us to have another baby quite quickly and now that he has seen how much work one is, he is not so hung up on me going back to work. My plan for next year (when I am hoping to be pregnant again) is just to do relief teaching 1 or 2 days a week (if I feel like it) - it is such good money, no stress and will give me a chance to feel a bit human again. My sister is able to look after DD whenever I need so there won't be any need to put her into childcare.

Shoegal - - sorry to hear that you are having a tough time. In regards to having to go on the formula - surely, the Drs will give you 'an extension' given that Baxter has been on AB and had diarreha (so long as it has cleared up now) and if after that time he still hasn't put on enough weight then maybe you would have made the decision to introduce a formula feed anyway?? and won't feel so disempowered about the whole thing. It is great that he is so settled - obviously means that he is not 'starving' - so you are still doing a great job!! ALSO - why do you have to get him gaining 200grms per week when the rest of us have been told 150grms (or in my friends case 100grms per week)?? Seems a bit unrealistic for a baby that is not well??

Zennie - hope your DP wakes up to himself soon. Keep your chin up and just focus on you and your beautiful baby who loves you enormously.

Me? Nothing much to report. Charlotte now weighs nearly 1kg more than her birth weight (5 weeks old). She has become a little chubba bubba!! And it looks like I might have an extra box of newborn disposable nappies that she won't fit! She is sleeping well and feeding well - but she often over-eats and spends the next 2 hours spilling it out again (not actual vomits). Anyway, my MIL arrives from NZ on Sunday, so my next few days will be spent doing housework - great!!

Went to mums and bubs movie yesterday - it was great! Gave me a chance to feel human again.

    Take care all.
