We are BF'ing and doing well so far. My biggest issue, and some may argue that this is an issue, is that she sleeps too long and is only having about 4 or 5 feeds every 24 hours. Some people tell me to just demand feed and let her sleep while others are telling me to wake her, so I'm confused on what to do..
Since we came home she is sleeping around 4-5 hours min between feeds and the last few nights she is sleeping through a feed or two. One or two nights she slept 6-7 hours straight and last night I fed her at 7.30pm and she was asleep by around 8.30-9.00pm and she didn't wake till 7.30am this morning. Having said that she did have a very big day yesterday where she was unsettled all morning and then we were out all afternoon so she only got some short sleep cycles. I woke during the night for her feed times but she didn't.
I have a very good milk supply and she certainly seems happy to just sleep. Tonight I spent 30 minutes trying to wake her to feed and then she finally did for about 20-25 minutes and then fell asleep at the breast.
charmalea - YeP i got 2 stitches so not sure what "degree" that is considered. No clots on this side but heavy bleeding for first 48 hours and then it eased off. Still getting cramps and light bleeding and swelling is all gone down bare a few sore spots which I assume is the tear.
Not sure if it might help but I've found a product called RITE AID HYDROGEL BREAST DISCS did wonders for cracks and abrasions. They are a hydrating gel pad that you put in and moisturises like you wouldn't believe. I slept a night in hospital with one in and one out and the diff between my nipples the next day was very very noticable. One was peeling and dry and the other supple and soft with no cracks.
charmalea - hahaha glad that is sorted out..
