Babies Born August 1st - 15th 2008 #3

MM ~ With 4 kids I have no doubt you need a specific routine! I admire you I really do. Well, we dont really have a routine for bed time with Seven, as I was just letting her dictate when she needed to sleep, but obviously that isn't working for me. I was planning to start a routine tonight, not too early, to start off with and slowly get her used to the routine to go to bed.
It will utilise involment from DF so Leash ~ hurry up with that fry pan please!!!!!!!!!!!

Pixie ~ That has got to be one of the best birth stories I have read! You had me in tears! It was beautiful and well done to you!
Makes me wish I had typed mine out in more detail - but what I have done will have to do. Unfortunately (or fortunately) mine would never be as long as yours, seeing as my labour was 1hr43mins! ARGH!!!!

CM4E ... I had no choice but to get a routine happening! Especially after we came home from hossie after Veygas's hernia operation. I still follow hi lead during the day, but my routine is flexible - if he is showing grumpy signs at 4pm, I'll start his bedtime routine then, if it's not til 6pm (if he has had big day sleeps) then so be it. Daylight savings really threw things out of whack too and I'm STILL struggling to get the older 3 to stick to routine! At the moment, the 2.5yo isn't going to bed until somewhere between 7.30pm and 8.30pm which really exhausts me (considering he used to be in bed asleep by 6-6.30pm!)

hehehe I really admire the mums on here with 5, 6, 7 kids who are still sane!! Having said that, I still want more LOL!

Oh and I've had a few choice words for DP in the past (both with this bub ad the last one, and heaps during both pregnancies) but I think he now realises I mean business and my routine is NOT to be messed with!! :rofl: NOW who wears the pants? LOL!

Beema? I?m so glad for your SIL that at least one month is covered for her medication? how stressfull and horrible that something no necessary is so expensive!!! Also good to hear about your dad coming home! Its been a rough week for your family hasn?t it!!

CM4E?. I?m sorry your having such a rough trot with sleeping and settling- especially with no help!!! :angry:GGGRRRRRRR at your DH!!! He wouldn?t know the true meaning of the word tired!!!!!! Good luck tonight with the routine thing.. we have a rough routine, the only thing that I find I HAVE to do is make sure Shane is wrapped or else he wont go to sleep no matter HOW tired he is- he will fuss and fuss and that?s when I know its wrapping time and when he is all wrapped he will feed a little more and drop off- but then I have the challenge of putting him in his bed!!!! If he wakes up sometimes he will re settle easily- other times he just WILL not unless he is asleep on me.. when he gets like that I find that I can do the lay down position for bfeeding and he will go to sleep and I just let him sleep where he is- usually my bed until I know he is in a deep sleep and then I move him to the bassinette. HTH

MM? Wow snow!!! I guess winter isn?t quite gone yet!! We have been getting massive storms here too- two in two days? we got hail today!!

Pixie? What a birth!!! You are a trooper!! I think you and The Bear make a good team too!! Do you mind me asking what actually happened to little Beth for her to need to be in special care?

Kel84?. I am a babylove nappy girl!! They are a good price and they arnt too bad except for when DS does some major explosions.. lol but I think he would explode out of any nappy I put on him those times!!!

Mummytummy? The expo sounds like it was heaps of fun!! My mum bought us a little star that projects a picture on the wall and plays a tune.. they are great!!!! The music comes in very handy!! I just have to hum the tune now and he will settle- well worth getting!!! Oh and shane always seems to know when I am in the shower too!!!

Well we had a HUGE night of sleeping here last night? 6pm-4am!!!! I couldn?t believe it!!!! That is his longest one so far!!! :dance:
And then today we had a big day out- I went to my first mothers group meet up with a friend of mine- all the kids were different ages- most of them a lot older and running around, but we still had fun.. Shane loooved all the toys and I swear if he could he would have just jumped right in the middle of them all!! LoL I sat down on the floor with him and we looked and touched and he was having a ball!!! When I tried to take him and sit with the mums he just squirmed and wriggled till I took him back to all the toys!!! And it must have worn him out coz he fell asleep on the walk back to my friends house and slept for about three hours!!!!! Being a grumble guts now though.. lol keeps falling asleep till I try to put him down then he suddenly wakes up and is not a happy chappy!!! Oh well lucky I can type one handed!!

SB - she just wasn't breathing and she didn't start breathing for about 1/2 an hour. None of the doctors could explain it, but it does sometimes happen. I believe she was knocked unconscious during the delivery. She was moving only minutes beforehand but I think the actual birth knocked her out, so her reflexes didn't kick in and tell her to breathe. Her heartbeat was strong the whole time. She had some meconium aspiration (also not uncommon cause I was 11 days post-dates) and the Bear thinks that some was blown back into her lungs when they were using the bag to give her oxygen, which made it worse. The CMO came up to explain everything to us after she was released to the ward with us and he said that she won't have any ongoing problems as a result, it's just one of those things that sometimes happens, and they don't really know why.

Rach - Eli is soo gorgeous, and you are one heck of a photographer!! LOL!

Well, i am excited, I just ordered a starter pack of ... <drum roll> CLOTH NAPPIES!!!! <cymbal crash> LOL! Can't WAIT til they get here, and I will take photos of both my clothy bummed little men and post them here!!

Well, I'm off to have a nice relaxing warm bath, then put on a load of wahing (and hope the weather forecast for tomorrow doesn't change cause I'm sick of putting washing in the dryer - it's meant to be spring FFS!!)

MM - I can't believe you had snow today, it was chilly here but still a beautiful spring day working up to 30 degrees on Saturday! In answer to your question about the Itti Bitti nappies I love them. The fit is neat and trim so all his ordinary clothes can fit him rather than going up a size or searching out outfits that are baggier around the bum. Absorbency seems to be great and they wash up really nicely, not like some of the other nappies I have. Being all in ones they are easy for anyone else to fit on him too. Glad to hear you got yourself a starter pack! I have uploaded a couple of photos of Jett in amongst all his nappies. He fell asleep cuddling one too! Pics are here and here Oh, and Jett was 4.9kgs last time he was weighed about a week and a half ago. Still a littly!

Kiwigirl - your photos are fantastic! I used to do photography at school but I didn't keep it up so I have forgotten all the good settings so I am a snap happy person now! I should try and get some better ones though - I love the black and white ones like you took! My year 12 assessment photos were in that style.

Pixie - you have now made me feel guilty about not doing my birth story yet.... hmm... I do keep meaning to get on to it. I want to add it to his journal too. I posted in your other thread, but yep, awesome story!

Starbright - it is great when we find little things that amuse, entertain and settle our little ones isn't it! We have a mobile that Jett loves to listen to while getting his nappy changed, and DH often whistles (badly!!) along with it so now when he gets cranky DH whistles the tune and Jett stops to listen!

CM4E - Sorry to hear about your difficulties. Good on you for attempting to get DF in on the routine! Sometimes I think they need to be given no choice but to be involved for them to appreciate that you really are working 24/7! My DH is really fantastic, but sometimes he comes home and complains that he has been at work all day and had a stressful day blah blah blah. That is the point where I hand the grumpy Jett over to him and say that I have been trying to have a shower all day, I have milk and spew all over me and he needs to take over while I get that shower. It works great because I get the time out by getting time to myself, and he gets to realise that there are more important things than a hard day at work. Let us know how your new routine works...


Hey to everyone else! I better finish this post so I can get to bed!

I went for another walk with my mothers group today before our meeting. Jett was well behaved and has had a very balanced waked and sleep time. Although the sling had to be utilised once today!! But he has even gone to bed early tonight. Normally goes down around midnight, but tonight he had his last feed at about 8.45 and had a little play before being put down and straight to sleep at about 9.30! It will be interesting to see how long he sleeps for tonight.

Ok, so, Seven had a rough night, and a rather ordinary day today. She fed non stop! I started writing down the times that she fed and boy oh boy is it a shocker!

It hasn’t worked EXACTLY the way I was hoping, but, Seven IS asleep at the moment, albeit in the sling, but it’s a good thing.

I was planning on waiting until her next feed then hopping into bed with her to feed and hope that she went back to sleep but she sprung a feed on me early so we are still in the sling and eating! LOL. Ill wait til the next one!

I am feeling more positive tonight. :)

We had another good night, although yesterday was a bit of a crummy day. Was supposed to do the bay walk with my mothers' group but it was too cold and wet so we didn't. Then my stepmother came over to mind Beth and clean up while I had a spa treatment (this was a birthday present). Well the woman who gave me the treatment seemed to have half forgotten what she was doing and the place was a bit divey, it was like taking a bath in someone else's house. Weird. And the spa had seaweed in it, it looked pretty uninviting. It took an hour less than advertised, so by the time I got back, my SM hadn't even started cleaning the house so 1. the treatment was a disappointment and 2. now I still have to clean the house! :wall: We went for lunch but it was still pouring. Then dinner at the ILs, it was hard to get Beth to sleep and everyone was poking and prodding her. I was starving but the ILs are on a diet so dinner was nowhere near as nice as usual. and on the way home (10.30pm by this stage) some idiot taxi driver reversed into us when we were filling up the car! :wall::wall: Soooo glad yesterday's over. But Beth was so exhausted she slept through till 6.30, woke up, had a feed and a play and then fell asleep on the Bear!! sooo cute.
MT lucky you on the walk - i'm looking forward to the walk with my MG next week.
MM hope you had a nice warm bath and the weather is better today so hopefully some of your washing can go on the line!
Kel - that is a LOT of feeds. Is she having time to digest properly? I thought it took 2-3 hours for a baby to digest a full feed? It doesn't sound like she's snacking if she is draining a whole breast. anyway, hope today is a better day for you.

Pixie ~ What a bloody bummer about your Spa Treatment. And such an awesome thing to be looking forward to, only to have it all go ****ty. I can't stand people poking and prodding sleeping babies, or just babies in general! Thankfully my family know this and leave Seven alone unless they are invited to 'poke and prod'. LOL

Squidpea ~ I hope you are feeling a bit better today and can get into see someone about your little man.

Well, our 'nighttime' routine started off reasonably well. She slept until 11.15 then fed while in the sling - then proceeded to scream from 11.45 until 12.15, when she fell asleep. Had another feed - in bed with Mummy - at 12.40am then not again until almost 4!!!! So, if we can cut out the screaming and staying awake, I think it will work well!
We will be trying again tonight!!!!

Kell - sorry you are having such a rough time with Sev. its hard to appreciate how gorgeous a baby is when they are frustrating you so much you are pulling your hair out!!!!! Have you tried homeopathic drops? I swear, that is the difference with Miss M - wouldn't even know she has reflux now - she's just like a normal baby - only screams when tired....

Pixie chick - eww sounds gross.. I'd get a refund.

And what a disappointing spa treatment - reminds me how my mum gifted me a massage for mothers day a few years ago (I had just had DD a couple of months before) and yeah, even that place was a bit of a dive ... the chick even walked out for about 15 minutes half way through (obviously for a smoke-o, cause she came back reeking!!) and she wasn't too gentle either :(

Well, I'm not too impressed today ... talking to DP last night on the phone, he told me that his parents are selling their place and are moving ... <dum dum dum> ... to the BLUE MOUNTAINS!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! :angry: I told him that they better be doing it for them and not to be close to us, or expecting us to stay here forever, cause if we decide to move, I don't want to be guilted into staying ... "but we moved here for you guys ... blah blah blah"

AND THEN he talked about staying anyway!!! :wtf: We always said if any of our family moved closer than say 45 minutes away from us, we would be moving hours in the opposite direction .... (can't you just tell I'm not the kind of person who relies on family being close?? LOL!) It's bad enough as it is, whenever they come over (admittedly not that often) they just walk straight in without knocking, start moving stuff around etc .... come on people, it's my house, I think I deserve some respect ... VISITORS KNOCK .... I don't give a F*** WHO you are!!!

I think the negotiation may have to start with DP (I was thinking about this this morning) IF we stay here, then I get to have more kids!!! LOL!!

I dunno, I'm just sick of being cold .... hmmmm come to think of it, my MIL always says how cold it is, and how she can't handle it (and always asking us why we live where it's so cold) so it looks as though they ARE doing it to be close to us :doh:

There's a couple of transport companies up around the sunshine coast that he knows about, and housing prices are comparable to here, but he'll be like 10 minutes away from work as opposed to an hour and a half!

DH did ours yesterday while i was out- might sound good and nice- but he MOVES things!!! He put my pile of clean clothes for Shane i have by the bed (handy for during the night if any explosions have occured) in the dirty washing pile.. actually he put alot of clean stuff in the dirty washing pile... lol He did a bit of dusting on our book shelf thingy- and asked if i could please keep it all in order!!!! :o I HAD it all in order!!!! lol It was just a chaotic order!!

MM.... NOOOOOOOOO!!! You were soo looking forward to the moving idea!! Sounds like you will DEFINATLEY get the guilt treatment- "but we just moved here for you....." from the IL's. I would be telling them you are considering moving BEFORE they get a chance to actually move there, so you cover your bases!! I can see you not being too impressed with DH being away all week- AND having IL in your house whenever they please... I hope you manage to talk DP around!!!

CM4E... :dance: On a good sleep last night!!! And wow!! What a feeder!!!!! Has she always been like that??? I know when Shane is non stop eating and grumbly (screaming non stop for a good couple of hours!!) that my friend says it sounds like a "growth Spurt" and it can last almost a week- he was like that around 4 weeks, again at about 7 weeks and even just the last few days it seems its coming on again.. (being very sooky... only wants mummy and my boobie and doesnt want to sleep anywhere else but on me during the day- still ok at night though so far)
Keep up with trying to get a routine down though- your doing a great job so far!!!

O.k im getting over it somewhat, was absolutely devastated A new LOW for us both... i balled and balled and hubby was there to catch each tear. I got my baby scales yesterday and putting them to GREAT use now.
Midwife said express 30 mills 3 times daily and feed 5 times minimum. Thats what normally happends except for the expressing i expressed by hand 30 mils then 65 in one go when i had my let down.

This morning your parcel VIC did brighten up my day and the present too thank you Nakita Josh will love IT! I am sure it will become, a favorite thank you

O.k after all my processing i have a plan

do the expressing give it to him at 2.45ish thats when eh has his few min big cry in car when i get kids from school.

as for monitoring him plan is
on friday reweigh him if he has not gained thats o.k..... If loss then take him to emergency at cab.
If on Monday a second weight loss i will take him to royal Brisbane emergency as its a pediatric hospital.

today i had a phone call from Cab pead center regarding my other son saying that we need new referral regarding ski allergies as they cant do it at cab. It was good as i got to talk to them regarding josh and she

she also said take him to emergency if another weigh loss and encouraged me and said you are doing the right thing.

So thats it thats the plan of action. I weigh josh before and after feeds not so much worried about the difference just more so that there is a gain of some sort each time showing he is getting something.
the 7 year old has been spewing all morning:juggle: been trying to sort him out an everything else.. looks pale as anything just fallen asleep he been watching dvd's in bed with his bucket.

the 3 year old has been driving me beyond MAD!!! just very annoying attention seeking things as feeding josh takes about 50mins but that doesn't include settling or anything.. since Wednesday i have not weighed josh nude again i will do that tomorrow around 9-10am. My scales read exact to clinic witch is fantatsic:)

I am not really feeling a whole heap better but happy i have a plan of attack on what to do now.

BTW we are 12 weeks OR 3 MONTHS old today and still reaching for the 1 KILO over birth weight!!!

Im a little bit stressed, Seven cried all the way home from the city, hasn't stopped since and is still feeding every hour today.

just on top of everything, i got a call from department of children's services or aka dcd in W.A, was informed that my niece in foster care has stopped visitations with her dad as they felt it was for her own good! she is 3 years old, They then said she is o.k she isnt hurt nothing happened but couldnt tell me any more info i asked them to ask thier supervisor if legally then can tell me what happened and why there is an investigation. Now i wait. Me and hubbie did make application to become her foster career but the father and mother (my sister) comes first. now maybe no legal parent will get her.

Ahh Poo Kell, it took Nakita a good week before she would really cuck it and she was 9 weeks old before we gave her one. Even now she still shakes her head and stuff sometimes and we just hold it until she gots hold of it. Hopefully something will change for her soon!

:( for the appointment too, it sucks that everyone seems to have to wait so long for our babies :(

I am glad you have a plan Squidipa, Bugger you have to wait until the 11th of ran appointment, wish they could have given you an earlier one rather than having to go to Emergency!

Hehe Mel, yes the tears were coming, they set each other off a few times! But both slept for the walk back towards the cars!! We were lucky we got the photos when we did as they both went a bit pear shapped afterwards!!
