If you are expressing I would try about 100-120ml - based on his size, he may want to take more or less than that, it may take you a couple of expresses to build it up, just make sure that when you mix the EBM that you have it in the coldest part of the fridge for at least 1 hour so that they come to the same temperature before mixing then "heat" by placing the bottle in a bath of hot water. You will get an idea then how much he will drink, once you get that, then you can build it up slowly. I have been increasing Nakitas evening feed by 5ml each night, we have just hit 150ml for her 11pm feed (all EBM), we had done a jump from 120-150 also 130-150ml and she just couldn't handle it, so small jumps. For the night feed we use the Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature Bottles but for top ups/day feeds I use NUK bottles (the teats are a lot slower) so she has to work harder for it.

At the moment, we can leave all our doors unlocked at night - DP has even left his keys in the car ignition for a whole weekend ... that's how quiet it is here (reminds me of when i was growing up and no-one locked anything!) Is there anywhere like that up there?

Well this morning i got about 110mill in one go and i think i could have gotten a bit more was feeding josh on one side and expressing on the other. Vic when i am ment to tp him up a such with the EBM does that mean like well he normally gets 5 feeds daily so should that be 5 feeds plus the EBM? or 4 feeds with EBM as after feeds i am not sure if he could get more in after a 40 min feed, MW wasnt very clear on thsi so just going for any tips you can give.:

well joshies upset gotta go at about 9am when he would be due for next feed i will weigh him nude and take my day from there. Currently at moment not thinking much of a gain if any but we will see. i weigh him withe xact routine each time regarding feed times.
Looks like you have a great supply there Squidipa. After he has fed off you I would see if he will take some more from the bottle, as he would be pretty buggered from sucking on the bbs from 40min. If not, try and get another feed in, what times does he feed at the moment?
ie yesterday Nakita fed at 7am, 11am, 1.30pm, 4pm, 6.40pm (I had expressed at 6 as I felt a bit full), then I gave her 120ml as she wouldn't have got a lot out of me, but was happy for her to drain me, then 150ml at 10.45pm - we get her out of bed and fill her up, today she woke at 5am for a feed and we are going again at 8.20am, so each day is different, but this one more so as we hadn't done a 5am feed for over a week, had been 7am. So i am not sure whst she will do today, it is warmer so perhaps she will feed more often.
Goodluck with your weighin's, we did a before and after a feed once - but I think they are crap! Because it is the time when bubs burns quite a bit of energy, so it isn't an accurate way of telling how much they had had.
No worries about the milk storage info, it would be terrible if any of that gold had to go down the sink, and I wasn't sure if you knew!
MM that is so cool, it must be useful you to have the other kiddlettes to help out with Veygas!
Nakita's cot arrives today - yay - so putting it together after playgroup, and I can't wait! I think we will put the bassinett off the pram in there for a bit so she gets used to the environment first.
Playgroup at 10 today, last official session but we have already organised the next two weeks!!

Had a good day yesterday she slept heaps, but didn't have much of her bottles, so she was unsettled last night - DH said he got up 8 times to resettle her with the dummy and he heard her belly rumble at around 4ish (he didn't feed her though, just chucked the dummy in..) I like your Pooh joke.. hehehe

Hellooooo to everyone else... mum has taken DD and DS for the day - so I'm currently kid free - and nope - not doing the housework that needs to be done, sitting on my fat butt on here with no interruptions (and yet Elmo is still on the tv? I have a problem!!) Going to have a nice cup of tea (with no interruptions) and wait for my friend to come and get me.
Picking up my car at 11am today - wooohoooo!!! Ahh its going to be PAINFUL taking 10 grand out of the bank this morning though - eeek!!!!

Another bit of a me post today....but with a difference...see if you can tell.....
Decided to try a couple of new things last night.
Spoke to a friend who is also a LC, and she suggested trying to hold Seven off to go longer between feeds, and also to really encourage her to take both sides at a feed.
So, after losing the plot a little yesterday afternoon, I sat down determined that this was going to work. I fed her, burped her, then offered her the other side, and she took it, for a few minutes anyway.
Then, started with our night time routine. Dim lights, warm house, minimal noise, nice deep bath, massage. Then I settled her to sleep in my arms ? took about 10 minutes ? in the hope that I could hold her off from another feed until it was at least 2hrs. Took her to bed with me at 10.30pm, with the intention of feeding, but she stayed asleep until 11.15, fed, and.........................SHE WENT BACK TO SLEEP!
We totally missed the 11-2 screaming session! Seven fed 3 hrly overnight and I am now waiting to see if she wakes up happy. I know I have!
Gotta run because Beth needs to get her shots.... but I just wanted to say

Vic. feeds are as follows and it is very consistent enless we go out then he sleeps.
5-6am there is 40 mins
9.30-10.30 he feeds for 30-40 mins
12.30-1 30mins-40
4-7.30 another 30-40 min feed
i sometimes force a feed at 10.30..... so between these times he always feeds right now sleeping so ill let him be. at 2.45 (school pickup) he gets restless for about mins and i am out at that time gonna give him some water at this time.
weigh was 4340 loss of 10 grams:doh: i am not going to hospital as its only 10 grams and it could be just a weight variance and i am allowing 10 grams diff as weights at clinic gave 2 weight figures the same as our scales so thats why i am not going to hospital today.
Vic.. as for weigh in before and after feeds its not really about the numbers it more that there is a change in the numbers no by how much. That way i know he has had something.;)

I have velcro baby here today, she hasn't slept since she got up at 5.30 except when she's attached to me. Ok I don't remember who it is but I need them to send Leash's frypan to me. Allegra was crying after a feed and I was in the middle of doing something DF just kept rocking her in the bouncer and didn't check to see if it was anything else, When I finally had the chance to check she had a pooey WTF he has been through the whole baby thing before with Cadence and I'm always telling him to do things Sorry for the rant. But on a funny note he did look a bit worried when I told him about the fry pan :p
Leash - you know, Winnie the pooh, tigger, piglet, eeyore .... (sorry if someone else explains this before I post!) Sorry about your tooth ... I had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled out last year, and boy does my mouth feel better for it!! LOL!

I weighed Nakita she put on 50grams!
So we are aiming for a total of 300grams a month which is what the LC said all she expected from her, the Child Youth Health Nurse said to weigh her again next week to see what happens but she said it was all fine. She is sleeping well, happy, content, not fussing at the boob.
I am relieved that both are happy with her, they think she looks great - so do I!!

Hugs Squidipa, just don't leave it too long to get more help. I would try to get some more into him, another feed if you can. even if it is just a bottle of EBM, it would be better to try that rather than having to go to Emergency. :hug:

Just popping in to say hi quickly! Been busy with MIL here, one more week before she heads home - going to be sad to see her go. She is already saying how hard it is going to be for her to leave Kye.
Had a weigh in today. Last one was done on the 1st October so thought it was time to see where he was at. His weight today was 7620g, length was 65cm and HC was 43cm. Stats on 1st Oct were weight - 6980g (weighed with clothes on), length well she was slack and didnt do it, HC was 42cm
So yeah hes off the graph so to speak for his height and weight :lol: have to be a bit more stringent with his routine for the rest of the week and see whether it makes a difference next Friday.
Not gonna bother to do personals, far too much to try and catch up on.

I am happy in the fact he has only put on 600g or so in three weeks but yeah not so happy that he is "off the graph"; concerns me a wee bit but will wait to see if it continues when he gets weighed next friday.
I am not overfeeding him; well I dont think I am. I am still making up his bottles with only 150ml of water which with formula usually takes it to about 170ml.
His feeds are pretty much 2am, 6am, 10am, 2pm, 6pm, 9pm or thereabouts.
:dunno: maybe he is just going to be a baby that is way bigger than what they class as "average". He is off the chart for his height too :lol:

i wouldn't be to worried as long as its all proportionate but would keep an eye as well i mean he is growing in all directions height too that good other wise i would be concerned. Josh has only grown 5.5 cm since birth. how much has he grown? has josh grown the least guys???:
sasha - DS1 was 9lb 1oz (4.1kg) at birth and going by his PHR book was 4750g at 12 days old, 6.5kg at 8 weeks and 8250g at 3.5 months old ... BUT he was totally breastfed ... and I am only little and his dad was average height, so I would have worried if he was bigger ... are you and DH tall?
Anyway, now, he is one of the smaller kids in his class, and at almost 8 I don't think he has even hit 20kg yet! And he is now really thin! (and eats like a horse! :lol: )
If Kye is off the chart both weight and height, i would say he is proportionate! :)
ETA: DS1 was off the charts for the first three months right from the start!
I don't know (i haven't been to the ECHC for measurements) but Veygas is still in 000's (and some things like tracksuits are STILL really baggy on him, like the waist part comes up under his arms!) and I still have to fold up sleeves on jumpers and jackets ...:

I just rang pizza hut to buy 2 large cheese stuffed pizza's no extra's one chicken bbq and one Hawaiian and wait for it 35.85 UNBELIEVABLE:jawdrop:
so decided to get a different meal instead.
No-one even delivers to our place LOL! Except for our local pizza joint, and it costs us nearly $50 for 2 large pizza's garlic bread and a 1.25L soft drink cause they actually charge for delivery on top (and they're only like an 8 minute drive away!)
We don't order out all that often, but sometimes we'll go get chinese takeaway - 6 dishes and 2 large fried rice sets us back about $65, but it lasts us lunch and dinner! We haven't done that for ages, and we've only eaten out twice in the past 3 months and one of those times was fathers day!

Hello All.
So, all in all had a reasonable day with Seven. Tried very hard to get her to go 2 hours in between feeds...and only failed twice, so thats good! Its easier now that she is 'kind of' sucking on a dummy.
The nighttime routine hasn't gone exactly as I had hoped tonight. We bathed, massaged and then went to bed for a feed. I was hoping she would do what she did last night. She fed well, but then started crying so I had to get up and rock her. She is now in her bouncer being bounced rather roughly - but thats the only way she will have it. She is not 100% settled though so we shall see what tonight brings. Im not holding out hope for a good one though.
Also, DF is ****ting me AGAIN!
Friday night is the night he goes to a mates shed, has a few drinks, catches up with the guys etc. I don't mind him going, never have, it doesn't bother me. He's got to have catch up time with his friends too!
But, why is it, that when he has worked all day and has to work the next day, he is 'too tired' to be able to help me with Seven, yet he worked all day today, and has to work tomorrow, but he is not too tired to stay up until midnight and hang out with his mates? He told me he would be home a couple of hours ago. So, if he gets home and I need help with Seven, I know exactly what he will say "I have to work in the morning." I want to send him an angry text message but I don't know what that will accomplish.
So, it looks like back to square one for me. Why is this not easier?

Maybe there is a book out there that says everything we need from our partners LOL I found Shel an article from here yesterday, its for dads but she read it anyway, and I printed off one that says what she needs from me, and I think it'll help working out what we need to do for each other (though I think I give her everything she needs, I didn't want her to feellike I was saying "see, this is what you have to do" without giving her something to say back IYKWIM). Anyway I'll hunt it down and link it if so you can read if you're interested...

After I posted yesterday she slept for 45 minutes... and then didn't sleep until her EBM. Fell asleep at 8pm, and woke at 3.30am. I keep telling her babies need more sleep than that but she won't have a bar of it :rolleyes: Stubborn thing. Went all cute when Shel got home too... and Shel was saying "but shes so cute, I thought you said she was crying and sooky all day" :rolleyes: Hmmm, I was about to say shes a mummys girl, but thats a bit confusing... well she's Shel's girl I can tell that already. I might need to have another one ;) try for a boy lol so I can have a mummas boy :p
Dunno how shes going to go today... she slept for an hour after her morning feed, and is playing quietly right now with her flashing ladybeetle (it cracks her up lol). *fingers crossed* shes not a cranky bum today...
We don't get delivery either... well the only places in Beerwah that deliver are pizza places and I hate pizza. Yes I know, shock horror, but I can't stand it BLEH! Not that we're all that far away to go anyway, theoretically if I wasn't so lazy I could get off my butt and walk down to get it. Might not be steaming hot when we get home but I could probably do it. Nah, well anyway we don't buy much takeaway. I'm allergic to MSG so most chinese places are out (even when they say no ADDED msg, most of the sauces and spices they use are loaded with it...) and the fish and chips here are dodgey as. That leaves only Subway, which burns a hole in our pocket so we don't get it that often. Hmmm, we do go out on a Monday and have lunch somewhere in Caboolture usually, thats our takeaway.
I still only lost 2kg this last month. Dunno... maybe I should weigh myself when my boobs are EMPTY :rofl:

Morning folks!
Wow what a busy day yesterday! Beth had her shots in the morning, went for coffee with the Mothers' Group girls in the afternoon, a friend came over, the Bear cooked dinner, I drove my friend home, came home fed Beth and then it was nearly midnight!
Our sleep through streak is over :crying: Beth woke at 4.20 on Thursday and 3.30 last night, but it was just a quick dummy replacement and she went back to sleep thankfully!

Leash - what a bummer about your teeth! That's horrible. It's so cute when they fall asleep on the playmat - like they just wore themselves out! LOL

Good Morning... I think! LOL!
We had an early wake too, 1.48am for a dummy (forgot to put the breast pads in after her late feed :wall: and 4.20am for an extremely wet/pooey nappy, required full change of clothes and sheets (we hadn't ventured into the cot yet so that was lucky!!)!! Then she woke at 6.20 fo an actual feed.
OMG Nakita was sooooo upset at 4.20, screaming blue murder, it was terrible poor little darling, just had to push through and get her cleaned up and resettled, I ended up sitting cuddling her until about 5am, when she finally had relaxed into a good sleep again, I was getting little whimpers etc for quite a while as she settled.
But all happy days now, rocking away in her swing. Going to be a stinker here today - 37, not looking forward to it... at all!!!

Oh yeah and the blanket is a Pink Hut Blanket, there are a couple of places you can get them online but they are cheaper if you can find them in a store! My was from a local baby store. I have an absolutely adorable blanket to put in her cot, will have to do it just for some photos at the moment as it will be too warm for now - 100% merino wool!

yeah that sounds like an alright deal hey :) i LOVE Chinese but last time i ate it was just a year ago for my 1st wedding anniversary and it made me crook, there must have been to much floured foods on my plate i would have been just fallen preggers to and it did not agree with me at all i got excessive nausia due to wind.:

Just like you i have been so flat out with josh and he seem to find minimum 3 hours up to 8 hours a day to spend time doing weather related stuff online . Like you i don't want to say ya cant but keep it in check and ya do have a family IYKWIM. Today he has gone to a storm/wethor convention thing where they boast about the best storm and show of footage. He left very early wont be back till after 6 i expect maybe later who knows he will tell me tho if he is going to be late tho OR ELSE!!! I am one of these ppl whom always feels second to something in our marragie i know he loves me and cares for me but i am always second on the list when weather is always here. Even in diff country's. Honestly i would have ratherd him stay home do a feed witch i did ask last night but weathor took over. And maybe l,et em sleep. but dont want to stand in the way of his life long passion hey i cant compete with it. I dont want to be controlling either.

MM- oh my gosh chinese food is so expensive and I find that the ones here in Caboolture like to put heaps of onion or a vege that is cheap at the time in the mongolian lamb or beef and you get very little beef or lamb
