Well I guess I belong in here too!
Bubba Daniel was born 6/8 at 2.24pm
Looking forward to meeting the rest of you in here!
Hello ladies - I was in the September 15-30, 2009 belly buddies group but my dear sweet Caitlin was born on 09/08/09 due to PE complications. She is currently in the NICU.
Congratulations on the births of your bubbas - just getting in to the thread.
BBL xox
Can I join too?
Congratulations everyone on the arrivals of your babies.
TK - hope Caitlin is doing well in NICU and will be home with you soon.
Rhia - I had wondered what you named your son. Daniel is such a nice name.
Hi Cass. Love the name too - very elegant.
AFM - everything is going well with Imogen (Immi for short). She is a totally different baby from DS and so far we haven't had too many issues with her. Being a second time parent makes the difference I think. She sleeps a lot and when she is not sleeping or feeding she loves being held in our arms. Her little brother is besotted with her. He has nicknamed her Mimi which we think is so cute.
I'll pop in when I can to say hello and look forward to hearing how everyone is going in the months to come.
Hey everyonewould have popped in earlier but things have been chaotic!!
William was born on the 1/8/09 at 7.24 weighting 3.285kg..
Were doing ok.. His big sister has been a little naughtier than usual but not only has she started sleeping through the night but she's very caring towards william (we often call him billy as our daughter (asha) is unable to say william and we like the nickname).. She gives him cuddles and kisses and brings me hats and things when he's crying to try and help.. Were having a few issues with his feeding and weight gain atm which has me very on edge and upset.. Because I didn't manage to bfeed my first and I am this time round im pretty anxious about it all.. On top of that he isn't gaining as much weight as he should or pooing much.. He wasn't weeing as much as is recomended either but that's picked up over the last few days which is great!! We have a check up tmw so fingers crossed he's put on more weight and the dr can help us with his pooing ahhh the joys of it all!!!
Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying their bubbas!!
Noni - how did the checkup go? Have you spoken to a MW/ LC about it? Maybe post in the BF thread???
I am having some concerns too and the MW has put us on a time schedule of 2 hourly feeds and also suggested expressing after feeds to increase my supply. Still it does take some time for the supply to settle. Try not to be anxious tho as hard as it is not to be.
Had a bit of a bad night. She was up practically every hour and a half wanting a feed. By 5am I just gave her to DH and he nursed her and then let her sleep with us until we woke around 7am. MW called around today and Immi is doing well. She is having a sleep atm but need to wake her up shortly to feed her.
Hello everyone,
Nice to see so many familiar names.
Sebastian James, Born 4.10am 12/08/09, 4.32kg (9pound,8.5ounces), Length 53cm.
I had a three hour labour from start to finish (after too many weeks of pre-labour), without any drugs - not though choice, but because by the time I had dropped the kids off at mum's and made it to the hospital I was 8 cm dialated, so once again I was too late for any drugs. So much for my plans of an epidural this time.
We are waiting for my milk to come in atm, which is making for a frustrated and hungery bub and a very tired mum. But we are otherwise doing well.
DS seems to be waiting for bubs to go, he hasn't quite realised that he is here to stay yet. DD is loving her new brother, and is constantly trying to help and generally getting in the way. Thank god DH has three weeks off work to help out!
weve had a tough couple of days here.. constant feeding or screaming.. weve had to put bub on the bottle because i had plenty of milk and even though he was drinking regularly he wasnt pooing and he wasnt weeing enough.. i tried and tried but the screaming got too much it was constant i sent dh for enough to make one bottle in the hope it would settle him long enough to get us to the drs without a nervous breakdown.. as soon as he had it he was a different baby, calm and quiet.. got to the drs and we told him about being pretty much decided to switch over and when the dr had a look at him he said he looked quite dehydrated and underfed despite me constantly feeding him.. when he was weighed he still hadnt put on any weight which keeps him at 3kgs still 285g short of his birth weight at 2 weeks old the poor thing.. dr said we deffinately made the right choice and to continue with formula making sure he feeds atleast every 4 hours and we must go back on monday to have him weighed because he is in desperate need of a weight gain.. poor little man.. im quite dissapointed that i cant bfeed but the differences in bub are encouraging.. hes weeing much more and he even did 2 poos last night which is great after his 1 week between poos.. hes much calmer between feeds and weve been able to put him down which is nice tooits nice for Asha too coz im actually able to give her attention now that im not busy crying coz William wont stop crying or feeding him...
anyway thats my epic story hope all the other bubbas are going well!!!
Hey everyone
noni e- glad to hear that things are going well again for you! Im sure he will start putting on the weight in no time
misty- congrats again! Thats really good that everything is going great at home and that your DD is trying to help out- sounds so cute even though she may get in the way
Saffi- Hopefully you had a better night last night and were able to get some form of sleep
AFM- Daniel is still doing well. We have switched over to formula too. My milk came in and I tried my hardest to b/f him but in the end it was just too painful for me, even though he was latching right! It started to really get to me and atm its better for me to not be stressed. Unfortunately the 'baby blues' set in yesterday and I had a massive cry in the shower last night. But I do feel a lot better today just needed to clear my head I think.
At the moment his feeds are around 3-4hours. He can go longer in the night, had an awful night on wednesday where he wanted a bottle almost every hour n a half. Trying to get him to stay awake during the feed can be hard but he is slowly drinking more so yay!
Im also excited about the fact my body is slowly going back to normal. After Daniel was born, the doctor too 1 hour to stitch me back up. SO PAINFUL!! After 3 days in hospital they found I was a little anemic so I had to stay longer but Im finally starting to feel like myself again and Im able to walk properly!
Quick question- Does/Has anyone ever started chaffing (sp?) on their bum from the maternity pads??I have and it hurts! Im using bepanthen on it atm, but just wondering if anyone else has encountered this before?
ok this is turning into a long post!
Hope all is well with Mummies and their babies![]()
Hi ladies
Rhia - you must have a lot of stitches! Can't help with the chaffing, perhaps change brands or the pads more often????
Misty - WTG on the 3 hour labour, but shame no pain relief.
Noni - hopefully now you will have a more content baby.
We have started topping up with formula here too. The MW suggested that I do 2 hourly BF feeds, expressing afterwards, and the occasional top up with formula to increase my supply. Problem is I can't seem to fill up in 2 hours to satisfy her. This leads to pulling on and off, both of us getting frustrated etc. Hopefully I can build up my supply so only have to use formula every now and then, but its ok if we have to use it permanently too. As long as she is growing and happy I don't care. DS was on formula since he was 5 months old and he turned out very healthy.
Speaking of DS I have noticed that he is doing more naughty/attention seeking behaviour. We are trying to give him heaps of attention but sometimes just can't be everywhere at once. He does seem to be interested in her tho.
Just popping on to say yes I've had the chafing too but I havnt figured out how to fix it![]()
Hi Everyone!Look forward to chatting to you guys!
Baby Max arrived on the 06/08/09 12.09 pm by caeseran.
We're doing well, he's been a good baby so far. Can have awke periods for up to 4 hours during the day! ( At least it's not during the night.) He does sleep for a 4.5 hour sleep during the night, so I'm pretty thankful for that! However the POO, I call him the poo machine, 3-4 times during a 24 hr period! Uggh!
Poo aside, love being a mummy second time around!!

Hi girls & bubs!!
My 9 pound son Peter arrived on August 11th after a 22 hour labour. He was named after my dad who passed away 21 years ago on the same day - some things are meant to be. I am so in awe of the fact he picked this particular day to arrive
Peter is really difficult to settle during the night & poos twice everytime I feed him!!
hi everyone - hope you don't mind but I put together a list of our treasures! If you would like to add any info please let me know.
Saffi - can you please let me know what date Immi was born and I will fix up the entry for you. Thank you for your message re Caitlin. I have included an update below.
Cass_blob - Eloise is such a pretty name - simply stunning
RhiaMaree - Daniel
Saffi - your DSs nickname is so cute. My youngest sister called me Sissy for the first three years of her life because she couldn't pronounce my name.... and it is not even a difficult one lol
Noni - hope your DD settles down once soon.
Misty - Sebastian shares his birthday with my best friend - it is a great day to be born!
Salboo - yeah for being awake during the day!
Cheezel - golly... I remember the day you got your BFP!! Congrats on Peter... he sounds like a special lad to pick such a significant day to meet you!
I have loved reading your stories on where you are all up to... I am a first time mum and all these experiences are new to me... I cannot wait to get Caitlin home so I can go through these experiences as well!
My milk came in overnight of day 4 (Thursday 13/08/09) and I have been busy expressing 4th hourly so that when Miss C has her tube feeds they can be of EBM rather than formula - I don't have anything against formula but I am so glad that I am able to give her EBM for the majority of her tube feeds and then BM for her feeds from the boob. She is doing so well and is having 3 feeds from the breast per day (the other 3 feeds are done via her tube) so I am travelling to the hospital for her 8am, 4pm and midnight feeds... it is tiring but I would move heaven and earth to do whatever needs to be done for her.
Keep up the good work mums

Rhia - congrats on your DS.
NOni - Hope you have had a better couple of days nights...
Misty - Congrats, 3hours sounds great![]()
I hope i got everyone... A little distracted as Eloise has got some bad wind, Dad's having a turn of trying to settle her at the moment. I hate hearing her with wind pain.
I have written up my birth story in the birth story section if anyone wants to read... Small version is - was admitted in hosp sunday morning with breathing difficulties due to respirtory infection from swine flu, went into labour sunday night 5hours later Eloise Paige came into our worldPerfect as. Came out of Hosp 35hours later.
Eloise has been doing really well, She feeds every 1=2hours during the day, and goes 3=4hours during the night. I had to keep her feeds every 3 hours due to being a little yellow, but that has passed now. So just letting her demand feed. My boobs are coping really well this time around. She poo's like a trooper at least 4pooy nappies a day![]()
Ok miss Eloise has settled now so we're going to go to bed, Night all
*if any one has a manual on getting them to sleep in their own beds i'd like to know about it lol*
Hi everyone,
well my milk finally came in (YAY - thank god!). I have only had about 10hrs sleep in the five days since Baz was born, and had a complete breakdown at 2am this morning because of it (poor DH copped the worst of it). Hopefully now my milk is in and Baz is not starving, he will sleep in his cradle and let me have a sleep. I was tempted to start formula feeding, just to give myself a break, but I knew from experience with my other two that it takes about 4 or five days for my milk to come in. The only reason I prefer to breastfeed rather then bottle feed is the cost of formula. If it weren't for that, I don't think I would have perservered.
The midwife will be visiting tomorrow to weigh and measure Baz and formally 'discharge' me from hospital (which is funny considering I only spent 24hrs actually in hospital).
Thankfully my mum took the other kids for the weekend, so DH and I haven't had to worry about trying to look after them at the same time.
RE: the chaffing, I haven't had it this time, but after DS#1 I had this problem. try and let it air when possible, wash frequently, change pads frequently and use a good nappy rash cream. (I tried all the different creams on the market - gotta love samples - it also give you a good insight into which will work best on bubs nappy rash).
