Babyluv: Did Sienna poset or vomit a lot with her reflux? Was wondering coz Claire sometimes gets really unsettled and brings up more than usual amount of milk after a feed and her tummy feels kinda full of air. Not sure if it's wind or reflux or just a full tummy. If the dummy makes a difference, good on you for going for it. I don't know if it will make a difference for Claire, coz if it doesn't then I don't really want her to become dependent on it.
Little mrs: I had stitches as I had a 2nd degree tear and quite a few too. My OB wouldn't tell me how many, just said they don't usually count the number of stitches so I figured there must be quite a few. Don't have the courage to look down under with a mirror yet :P Claire was only 2.76kg but her head was a good 36cm in circumference so my poor undercarriage suffered.
Tegam: Luckily my mum and MIL haven't been too pushy with their advice. Though everytime Claire cries non stop they ask if I want to give her the dummy. They're slowly accepting that I want to do it my way with her which is nice. It's just those tired nights I'm up with her that makes me wonder if not giving her the dummy is the best thing for her and me.
I'm wondering if Claire's got wind at times. When she's unsettled she seems to be wanting to bring something up a few times after a feed and her tummy feels full of air like a drum. She takes a lot longer to settle but would be fine the next feed. She would also prefer to be carried slightly upright and would cry once put into her bed. Don't you wish bubs could talk sometimes?

caixin: the one thing that i know for sure out of having 4 kids is the "pay now = pay later' theory. Its one or the other, there is no way of getting out of it!
So you give the dummy now you and it might buy you some more sleep!
You persist now and dont give then dummy and whilst all your friends are stressed out about taking a dummy away you can breath easy!
No right answer, pay now, pay later. But best of all pay when you have the energy to do so!

Caixin: Sienna does vomit alot at times but most of the time after feeds she vomits & swallows it, she coughs like she is choking because of the burning in her throat & goes bright red, she hiccups lots and screams constantly. She can't lie on her back because she chokes & splutters, I'm holding her all the time & she has been sleeping on my chest.
It could be either causing Claires vomiting I guess, do you burp her after feeds? Try keeping her upright for 20-30 mins after a feed, it helps Sienna when we do this. Do you cycle her legs? We get rid of heaps of wind doing this.

Babyluv: Poor little Sienna!! Reflux/colic is soooo not fun!!! Hopefully the medication works for her so it settles down and you guys get better and more consistent sleep!! Does she sleep slightly elevated too? I have been told to roll up a towel or something and put it under her matress where her head is and it will help her sleep. With the dummy, I didn't want to use one either but it's not like a bottle in causing nipple confusion so I guess if it helps keep you guys sane and stops her from becoming so distressed then it can be a great thing!!! Like with anything, it can be a good or bad thing depending on the sitation hey? You can always use it for now and stop when she is 2-3 months old and the medicine kicks in? Have you tried using the Brauer brand colic relief stuff?? It's homeopathic so completely natural and is meant to be really good!! I bought a pack by Brauer that has a colic relief, a stomach ease, nappy rash cream and teething syrup thing and it was $20 so I can try them all and see if it works, I'd much prefer a homeopathic one anyways...
I have been praying you get some good sleep nights!!! I know the feeling of crying because you can't stop bubs from crying. It's so hard to listen to them scream hey?? Just keep remembering that it has NOTHING to do with you as a mother and you are not failing her... there are some things we can't do anything about!!
Caixin: Charlotte was 2.9kgs and 33cm head so I am sooooo glad she had a small head!! LOL. Stitches suck hey?! I have had a look like everyday at mine just to make sure they are healing well and not getting infected! Are you at the itchy burning stage yet?? Mine have only started getting itchy in the last day and god it is annoyinG!!!!! So do you feel like your milk is increasing? you should try the Brauer's colic relief too! See if it settles Claire's tummy...
Teagam: I take my hat off to you having kids already and now the new baby!!! How are the other kids with bubs?
Little_mrs: wow an epi and forceps!!! That'd be sooo painful!! I want to hear your birth story! I only got one stitch but it is about 2cms and a loopy one, it was on the right labia and so is very very sore!! I wish it was internal so I don't feel like I am re-tearing it every time I sit or move too fast! The poor darling loosing her voice!! Do you think it is from screaming? Is she always unsettled?? Ouch to pulling a muscle in your bum cheek!!! That'd be soo painful!! How is Georgia sleeping though?

AFM: Finally home and soooooooo glad!! I am really thankful I got to go down for the funeral but it was such a big thing for us!! I really think I wouldn't be as sore downstairs if I didn't have the massive car trip! It was pretty stressful but Charlotte handled it sooo well!!!
I am starting to be proud of myself and realise how massive what I have done in the last week is... giving birth, travelling etc... I wasn't proud bout giving birth pretty much at all cause I remembered the pain n stuff but now I am getting more and more proud about the fact that I did it, I delivered our daughter, I caught her and guided her out... it's pretty cool!
She really is an amazing baby!!! BF'ing like a champ, attaches everytime pretty much first time, drains my boobs well, sleeps well over night, she is just gorgeous and I feel sooo blessed that so far, nothing really is a problem for us!!! FX it stays that way!!!! my hoohaa is still quite sore and tender and getting to that itchy stage, I hate the stitches being on the outside!! It'd be so much easier internally but I am glad that at least everything inside is intact!! My MW checked them today and she said it's looking great and healthy! WOO! I hope it heals fast cause it's only been a week and I am struggling being in the no bonking camp!!! LOL... I have a chiro app tomorrow THANK GOD because I feel like my left hip is not in the right spot... I can't walk properly or put all my weight on that leg, so I am hoping she can crack it back in place for me!!
And we have to go do all our centrelink stuff too!! Who has done all their stuff? Do you have to do some of it online??

Getting soppy here (and I Blame it bring 4:55am!! Haha) but we have ALL done amazing jobs!!! I am so proud of us and what we have achieved!!
Charlotte slept another 4 hrs n would have slept longer but I am leaking!!
Is anyone else literally dripping everywhere??? I feed, express abd I still drip milk!!!! I'm like a leaky tap!! I know my milk will regulate but WOW... It's full on! Oh and I barely get hard boobs anymore, they are heaps soft...that's not bad is it?

Ok so thought i would introduce myself
I had my baby boy on the 18th Dec too he was 3wks early, i wasnt technically due till yesturday (as tegam and GTF would know, i was in their belly buddies group)
Umm i dunno what else to write except im having some major breastfeeding problems he latches on and all he will eat and then sometimes not even within an hour he is wanting to be fed more ARGH its driving me crazy all im doing is cnstantly feeding him and his older brother is getting quite frustrated that all im doin is feeding. Im considering going to formula soon even though i desperately wanted to BF!
I cant believe it was 3wks ago already that i had my baby boy its just going too fast!

MrsBexie- going soft in the boobs is normal doesnt mean your milk has dropped or anything and leaking i know that feeling i get out of the shower and leak everywhere, when its let-down time i leak everywhere too...Oh and may i say when it comes time that your able/wanting to DTD make sure u have towels ready cause for some reason that makes you leak everywhere too lol so i found out!

You know what made me really excited then? That you only had bubs 3 weeks ago and you have DTD!!!!
Boo to the BF issues!! Could it he he just likes to suck or is he actually hungry still? Do you think you have enough milk for him? Maybe express more so you can feed from the boob then do an EBM feed the next time he screams? It's so hard knowing what they want and need!!

oh hun dont go to ff you know yourself how much you wanted to bf. he is feeding all the time cause he was so little, its totally normal and you are doing a great job! once he puts on a little more weight and gets older you will be able to manage it all so much better, you can do it!

I'm finally feeling well enough to sit at the computer so I thought I'd sneak in and say Hi! I hope you don't mind me crashing your thread since my lil (or not so lil) monster was a bit late
Xanthe is a a lil angel thank goodness as I'm still pretty wiped out from all the blood I lost she sleeps really well but we're having some problems getting her latched on so that she is breast feeding rather than nipple feeding but we'll get there in the end. Ouch!!! All your stitches sounds so sore, some how we managed to get the lil monster out without any tears or grazing! It was actually an amazing labour and birth exactly what i wished for it is so tragic that the 3rd stage went so horribly wrong! I've almost finished my birth story so I will post a link when I've finished it. Did anyone else have any issues with their placenta not coming away or PPH?

Hi girls: we are at the hospital seeing a paed, Siennas wee test came back not good so now they're going to put a needle into her tummy into her bladder, I feels so sick, pls pray for her , my poor baby

The test came back clear on a test strip but is being sent off for checking. My poor baby girl, it was so traumatic, I feel so bad that she had to go through that. She has now been put on Zantac for the silent reflux. The doc also wasn't too happy with her weight gain, she said she should be putting on about 200grams a week and she's not.

babyluv, my health nurse just said that as long as they are gaining 100-150gs a week is perfect!!!
My baby just gained 250g in 2 weeks and she said thats great, dont stress hun!
Tegam- thankyou for your kind words i am trying to perservere with bf as hard as it is right now, i had a appointment just before with the health nurse and he has gained weight he is almost 2.6kg's woohoo go my little bubba he is now 5lb 12oz
MrsBexie- Hun with my first bub i was too scared to DTD but ended up being brave after 3wks! I think its quite normal after your first bub to be scared to dtd again
This time around i was dying to get into DTD and i actually did it a week after having bubs lol yes i was game enough to do it, but also i havent bled a great deal! (lucky there i guess)
So my health nurse said to give Kaidyn some infacol to see if he is crying cause of wind if he still cries after a couple days then she said to see a dr for reflux but to eliminate the wind problem first!
