I feel you with the crappy birthday situation, Mine was yesterday and I got a hand made card from Jett. We too are a little strapped for cash so the card was nice. I did have the party which Ben enduered, as he hates singstar.
I am feeling you on everything you have written, isn't funny how one always makes more of an effort than the other.
I so have to got to bed....
