We first took the boys fishing when they were under one but we bought Ethan his first fishing rod not long after he turned 18 months.. jacob has been the best so far and holding his own fishing rod since he was 17 months old.. We cast it out for them and they just go for it..
A tip though if you are worried about hooks. just put a sinker on. they won't know the difference
Olivia held the fishing rod for the first time yesterdayWe start them young LOL
OMG I missed out on the start of a new thread. Shame on me. I have been so slack in here lately.
This daylight savings bit is killing me. The kids are up before 6am every damn day. The only one that does sleep in is Abbey, which is all well and good if it weren't for the others.
Abbey doesn't hat a routine as such and her day sleeps are becoming painful atm. We are lucky to get a sleep cycle out of her. I so don't want her to end up like Tehya with her crap sleeping. On the upside though Abbey is generally a pretty good night sleeper. She starts her bedtimee routine around 8pm, bum change, wrapped and then a huge boob feed. I get her to bed and within 10 minutes she is awake crying. She does this everynight. I pick her up, give her a cuddle, she sucks her thumb and goes back to sleep. Not sure why she wakes up after the 10 minutes, perhaps that is the first sleep cycle, as by the time she is fed and in bed it's been about that much time.
Welcome Jus and congrats on your little girl Ella.
Not sure how big Abbey is now. I haven't weighed her since the week she turned 4 months. I got a reminder letter from the GP the other day about Abbey's immunisation, still not very sure if I want to continue with them. At the moment I am leaning very much towards not.
We went out and got ourselves a new flat screen plasma on the weekend and a new front loader washer. OMG how long do those things take to do a load. I understand that they are more water efficient but surely at going for 2 hours they can't be energy efficient . Now to pay the damn things off. I am going to sell the old washer and tv on Ebay. Hopefully I will get some decent $ for them and put it towards a repayment. Got to love GE Finance. LOL.
Sorry for the selfish post. I seem to be doing alot of them lately![]()
oh I hate front loaders to. time is precious so i coiuldn't be bothered waiting that long for washing to finish
Crappy crap night here. Olivia woke at 1 for half an hour then at 4 and didn't go back down till 7. Thankfully Dh is home so I went back to bed for 30 mins, Must have fallen into a super deep sleep as I had the weirdest dream lol will try and 40 winks in today sometimes as Dh is back to work tomorrow
ooh Trish! Shopping spree! I love my front loader - much better for the nappiesYou'll soon work out when & how to use it with the long cycles. I tend to do a load in the evening, one overnight, and then another in the morning
Don't notice the long cycles then. It should have a short cycle on it tho if you're in a hurry. At least you can watch your new tv while waiting for the washing LOL.
LOL Liz, I said to Mark, here we are trying to save on energy and water with the new machine and go and get a new tv which will chew the power. Atleast the screen will keep the lounge warm in the winter.
Sorry, my puter shut down.
I put a load on last night and worked out the fast wash cycle too. I have the nappies in atm, prob should do them at night but I was waiting on her nappy from overnight. By the time they are finished it will be late to hang them. Oh well, I will figure it out sometime. Tehya was sitting in front of the washing machine watching it before. Must be so interesting.
Sorry to hear that you had a crap night Nic. Mine was *****ty too. I feel just as tired now as I did before I went to bed lastnight.
Hopefully you manage to get another nap in today![]()

hehe - well at least you didn't increase your footprint! Balanced it out with the new washing machine!
hi everone
lara
Hi Lara
Hows things with you?
Feeling pretty good here this morning considering last night.. Made pumpkin scones mm they are so delicious. Olivia has just gone down for another nap so me and the boys are watching the fairies![]()
Hi all,
We are off to Bendigo today to see my new niece, Rose. She was born last night after 25 hours of labour!
Olivia has just fallen asleep on the floor, so I am hoping she sleeps the whole way there seeing as it will be just me and her in the car![]()
bbl
Crap night here too!!! Loren woke at 12am, 2am and 5am. She sucked down 2 bottles as well. She hasn't had a night feed for over a month now. I think she is having a growth spurt. She maybe teething as well, because she just wants to chew on teething rings or her fists and she cracks it big time if she can't get some thing to bite on.
Yesterday was very successful with daytime sleep and re-settling etc, but maybe she got too much day time sleep and this caused her to wake overnight.
Trish - I love my front loader. At first I was not happy with the time it took to do a load, but now I mainly use a quicker cycle for everyday stuff. On my bed linen and towels I used the hottest and longest possilbe setting to kill off mould and dust mite.
BTW you'll find that clothes take longer to dry because they don't spin out as much. If this is a problem you should be able to run the clothes through and extra spin. I also do a load at night and then one as soon as I get out of bed so that I get the washing out before 9am. Have you had a foam explosion yet? I found that the Aldi Sensitive powder is excellent and I only use a 1/4 of a scoop.
rory was it you going away without bubs for a day or two? your boobs will explode! ouch!
you've all got me wanting to measure how tall Olly is- and then double it. i bet he'll be taller than me and DH- we're 161 and 165 cm, but i reckon i stunted my growth with a bad teenage phase... shudder. how i hope my kids grow up more balanced than i was.
things are great here. Mylo waking me up every few hours as usual, but settling pretty quick so i cant complain. i've been going to bed at 8 every night - o my god what a nanna i am! if i stay up i slur my words or cant talk, but tonight House is on at 8.30 so i better hit the caffeine hard! hahaha not really. i'd never fall asleep during House.
Yesterday DH did his practical driving test and failed within 2 mins! what a bummer! it costs plenty to make the booking, requires trips to the Queensland Roads office and lots of waiting in queues to get forms/ pay/ make bookings (which sux with a screaming baby and toddler in tow). then we have to wait 3 weeks, he had to take time off work, I had to wake the kids from their naps, take him there and they failed him as soon as he got out of the car park. if the guy had let him do the 45 minute drive and told him all his errors we'd be satisfied. this way, all we know is that there's a sneaky stop sign on the pedestrain crossing in the car park (at knee height, not even on a corner).
i was so ****ed off yesterday as soon as we got home i rushed out of the house on my bike and rode up all the massive hills until my head stopped pounding and my lungs burned instead.
Up until now he's been using his indonesian licence but to transfer it requires passing the written and driving tests in australia. thats fair enough because to get a licence in Indo you just pay money and submit a photo, he wasn't even there at the time, he was here! LOL.
hehe - I bought my front loader because it WOULD spin the clothes out more! Especially nappies. Bamboo nappies in my top loader just did not dry (and linted everywhere![]()
I get no lint even with the fluffiest things in my front loader), but I spin out the nappies at 1400 now and they dry well
As for the foam - that's why you need front loader powder lol - its less foamy
I use so little powder these days anyway. Can't bring myself to ever use a full scoop ever again since washing nappies (they only require a 1/4 of what is recommended) so I figure if nappies can get clean, so can my clothes!
Woops - bit off track here aren't we.. better say something baby-related. Umm.... both of mine are asleep at the moment, and I'm loving it! LOL!
LOL u did Liz, u were washing nappies...![]()
Just want to add i love my front loader & it seems to spin the clothes dryer than my old top loader. Also i use the quick wash mostly and it only takes 30mins.
Lara - sorry to hear that DH didn't get his license - those transport depts are pretty sneaky.
Sorry to hear about all of the bad nights - sending sleep dust everyone's way for tonight.
Trish i hear you on the day sleeps, Vicky is shocking 45 mins almost on the dot every time and then i try to resettle her and 30 mins later she might close her eyes and then the minute i lay her down she's wide awake grrrr i have been trying the whole bf back to sleep nope she just sneaks another boob munch inI dont want to wish her life away but am so looking forward to better sleep/awake patterns.
Better go and clean the house as DP will be home soon - oops
Just a qucik one - yeah Lara I will be away from Ollie for 24 hours but I will be taking my pump with me - it will give me a chance to "stock up" on EBM for days that I work![]()
Olivia slept in the car on the way to Bendigo and the way back - yipee! But she didn't eat much all day as she was too distracted by everything going on around her so I am expecting a bad night...
Rose is cute, tho she's still kinda squished :-)
Re: Washing machine. I think my old Hoover would spin the cr@p out of anything!!!!
Trish/Morgan - Loren's day sleeps are 45 mins on the dot too. I have started to make a point of re-settling her at the lunch time sleep and it seems to have worked. She will now sleep for 1.5 hours at this time. I chose this sleep because it is the one I plan to be home for most days and I put Sara to bed first so that I can get some quiet time with Loren iykwim.
Best go and get to bed. I feel another bad night coming on with miss Lollie
