Audax, glad Nell coped with the needles okay! I went to get Millie's yesterday but no go - ruddy bronchiolitis again :( I need to try her with baked beans, I have a couple of small tins in the cupboard but I hate them so just can't bring myself to open the can... I will write 100 times: I must not pass on my food aversions to my child...
EJ, Millie is nuts for the Latina pasta too, she ate half a packet in one sitting. I hope they start to eat a bit better for you soon.

Millie is pretty clingy and tired at the moment due to the bronchiolitis, but she's being a trooper with her ventolin and she's still eating. She refused her dinner last night (shepherds pie) and demanded a chicken sausage and potato... poor DH gave her pretty much all his potato. I think the probiotic we've been giving her staves off the worst of these bugs she just keeps on contracting.
Had some horrible news yesterday about a colleague, and as I'm his head teacher I spent most of today informing the rest of my staff. He had headaches at the end of last term and was fatigued, but hey, we all were at the end of term. The headaches got worse, and on Christmas Day he had a brain tumour removed and as if that is not tragic enough (he'll be 40 in March), he has lost his recent memory. We've worked together since 2007 and he clearly had no idea who I was when I visited him today. So, so sad. He must feel so lost, as I was about to leave, he grabbed my hand and said, "See you next week?" I know he won't remember my visit or who I am, but I'll still go. Maybe without Millie though - she usually sparks up when she sees him (he's one of those guys, kids just love him) but she just sat staring at him wide eyed.
Oof, tired. Must sleep.

My kids love pasta. just love it. it's my lazy go-to meal (ie, anything with pasta in it).
Miri actualyl slept last night - only woke up 2 or 3 times (can't remember, lol). And had decent naps today too. The teeth must have given her 24 hours reprieve!
I'm so sorry for your work colleague PP, you never know where life is going to take you. Poor Millie she really has had her fair share of bugs. I hope the probiotic begins to work even more so at fighting off the nasties. Hope all goes well for the 24th.
MadB your day with Miri today does sound like Harper on a good day too. Our girls must have similar sleep ides. She has seemed to calm down a little. I'm so freakin confused as to what to do. Thank you so much for all your help and suggestions. I really really do appreciate it :hug:
Ok here, just a little frustrated at Harper Barper's sleep and trying to figure out where i want to go with it. Last night when she woke up at... can't even remember what time it was but i woke up to her calling "Mum, Mum, Mum", no tears just calling me. Oh god i love that little lady. I was saying to DH tonight this afternoon all three kids played with the cars and trains. I can't remember Charlie at 13 months of age playing with Aidan like Harper does with both Aidan and Charlie. It amazes me.
AA who is 12 days off being 5 is riding without training wheels!! A bit of a proud mummy moment :)
Oh and i think i finially might see the first signs of a tooth!!! It's one of her bottom front teeth that i can see a little white, can't feel it through the gum yet though. And i can also see little blisters in her mouth for two more possibly. Maybe the cr@ppy sleep can finally be balmed on some teeth :lol:
Better get to bed. I have a cake to make tomorrow for Aidan, we're having dinner with family on friday night as we'll be away for his birthday. I also need to start packing. I'm putting it off though, packing for 2 weeks of camping for the 5 of us :o Cathie how do you do it?? :lol:

AH HA! Teeth. It's kinda good when you see things like that and realise that there was a reason (and hope that maybe it'll get better now). of course the bad news is that there are 19 more like that to come in the next year or so. bummer.

Miri just loves playing with cars. She's been sitting on DS' little trike and pushing it along a little bit (And nearly toppling off, it's a bit tall for her). DS never would have done that at this age and he was nearly walking. She also loves playing with balls adn swings. Seems to be more into physical stuff than her brother. se's just loveing cruising round the house checking everything out. sometimes i only hear from her when she wants me to open a door for her :lol: Ari is off with my parents so was trying to get some study done today - have just starting training as a breastfeeding counsellor with the ABA.

Wow MadB, great news about the study and becoming an ABA counsellor! Glad Miri did some decent sleeping for you. Millie does the same but our place is very open plan so no doors downstairs... apart from the laundry and I try to keep her out of there - cat food AND kitty litter. Gah. I also fight a losing battle to keep her off the stairs.

Well, Millie finally got her 12 month shots today. She was SO happy going in to the GP's office, poor little chook looked so betrayed when she got the shots :( She has been okay, a little clingy and she has been asleep for almost 3 hours now (yes I keep going to check on her, she's still breathing :)) We went to the park for our MG walk this morning, such a stunning day! We have changed our route, rather than starting near the park entrance and stopping at the cafe, we meet at the playground, pick up takeaway from the cafe then stop at the playground so the kids can play. They had a ball, Millie got filthy from running dirt and bark chips through her fingers! She also copped a splinter, poor mite - any tips for getting those out?
Well as much as I intended not to remember this date, I have - it's a year today since Millie weaned. I'm not beating myself up about it (much) anymore - whenever I say to DH that I'll try harder next time he asks how exactly I could try any harder than I did. Well, next time I'll try motilium, I'll wake to feed in the first weeks, I'll co sleep, I'll not listen to a word out of my Mum or sister's mouths, I'll hire or buy a kickbutt pump, I'll sleep and eat better... I'll believe in my own ability to do it. Oh and I'm asking for ABA membership for Mother's Day this year :)

I think your DH makes a very good point Pixie :) But it's always great to have a plan. Did you do the ABA's education class last time?
The one thing I think is really helpful is just understanding what is biologically normal for babies (and mothers!), rather than what we in our culture *think* is normal.
And you know what, maybe this time it will just work - like it's meant to - and you won't have to do anything special at all :) I hope so!
I'm hoping that things will be better for me too, this time. Fingers crosses I won't have another premmie, but I'm going to do everything you said and not let the stress get to me. I know I can do it. I'm not going to listen to my family tell me just to put bub on formula.:
The fear of Hannah going back to hospital was huge. That's a reason why my supply dropped off. I was pumping all the time and getting nothing (hired a pump from RCH).
I am certainly hoping you have a very smooth ride this time Charlotte!
MadB, I didn't book in for an ABA class as the hospital offered a free one, so I booked in for that. It was two days after Millie was born! I'm already looking in to local ABA ones, I will go much, much earlier in the piece this time and hopefully get to know an LC just in case. At least this time, too, being the middle of the year rather than the end, there won't be a shut down of services for a month when bub is 5 weeks old! The lovely council LC I contacted and the local clinic nurse were on holidays. Interestingly, one of my MG friends went to the same hospital and also found the LC there to be very rude and unhelpful. Shan't be calling on her again.

Poor Millie has had a very Black Friday the 13th - not only needles and splinter, but she was shimmying around in the bathroom, slipped on the bathmat and whacked her forehead on the tub :( Poor little monkey was most upset.
Not sure if the jabs will affect her appetite, but Millie is a bottomless pit now. Huge amounts of fruit, and last night for dinner she ate as much as me - chicken sausage, a potato and some carrot, peas and corn. We had risotto tonight - again I think she ended up eating as much as I did. Then polished off half a punnet of strawberries!
I hate to admit it, but I'm finding the cricket mildly interesting at the moment. What is wrong with me?!
Oh i'm exhausted, such a busy day and then night out for Aidan to celebrate his birthday with family as we'll be away for his actualy Birth Day :)
Must go to bed but i just wanted to say that when i was pregnant with AA i bought the ABA Breastfeeding Naturaly book from the Baby Expo and i think it helped me so much. I actually had the time and the energy to read it prior to the little one coming along. Then when i was maybe having an issue i remembered reading about it and was able to go back and re-read it if i needed. PP if you join i'm pretty sure you'll received the book for free (if that still do that) :)
Charlotte if you are not planning on becoming a member but would like to have a read of the book i'm more than happy to borrow you mine. I bought it back in 2006 so it may not be the most recent addition (2nd edition, i'm sure MadB would be able to tell you what edition they are up to) but i don't think it'd be any less worth the read. It's great to have around in those early months when establishing breastfeeding. Also i saw your thread about buying a carrier that looked a little similar to a hugabub. You are also welcome to borrow mine if you like. It comes with a DVD that gives really easy instructoins on how it works, it's really easy once you know what you're doing. The offer is there for you just let me know :)

Oh no Charlotte, i feel your pain :( .... Only not last night.
It's amazing girls an absolute miracle but last night once we were home wayyyyy past Harper's bed time she fed and went to sleep and then woke twice to which i sent DH off to see her and there was barely a tantrum and barely any noise!!!!! Guess who has a new job!?!? Finally he has an effect over her where she is happy enough to settle for him. I'm so happy, i woke and listened to the settling happening but i did not get out of my bed until 6am where i fed the little miss and was even able to put her back to bed for another hour or so. Maybe we will be able to carry this through to camping if he does it and we don't let on that i'm close??
I'm so happy that we have both been able to (possibly, may be getting a little pre-excited just yet) finally get here, no i know she can do it :)
Better get started for the day. Time for some breakfast...

The ABA have just released a new edition of breastfeeding naturally with all new pictures! I haven't seen a copy but thiking of getting one actually. it probably is about the best resource for new mums. you get a copy when you join the ABA :)

EJ - I hate packing to go away!!! And unpacking when we come home. It takes me a full day to pack the clothes, food. caravan and car......And when it's time to actually leave that takes us 2 hours making sure all the kids are in the car!!! Yes we count and making sure all the kids have there DVD's and games. How was Aidan's birthday?

Cathie, 2 hours :o far out. Millie has been a bit out of sorts and a bit off her food today. Only a bit, just pickier than usual. Didn't want her veg tonight and the cat was delighted when Millie started pelting her sausage at her. Fruit though, she will still demolish. The damn splinter won't budge!
She has been tired today - two longish sleeps - 2 hours this morning and 90 mins this afternoon. My in-laws phoned as she went down for her afternoon nap to see if they could drop by and I actually said no. DH was out getting me quick-eze and I didn't feel up to small talk as I've been feeling off all day. When DH got home he was appalled that I had asked them not to come, but stuff it. I need to take care of myself.

PP - good on you for saying no! I'm feeling a bit off-colour about in-law visits at the moment. Why, WHY do we pay so much money to put ourselves through so much hell? (ie visiting them?) How good are QuickEze? I still have some in my kitchen drawer, I didn't discover them until late, but they're awesome!
Good luck with jabs cathie! Eleanor didn't fare so well. Full 24 hours of grump afterwards, and then a week later a day of fever and sleepiness and boob-dependence, not sure if they were related or not. That was yesterday, she was grumpy and floppy and went down for her fourth sleep of the day at 3pm, after a dose of Dymadon, then woke up at 3:45, sat up, clapped her hands, put on her hat and asked for a biscuit. Crazy but so incredibly cute!
I love parties in the middle of the night! .... when other people host them.... and I'm the one partying.... and the baby's at home in bed. We had a spate of 4am parties here and it was so hard! Feel for you Charlotte. Joining the ABA is worthwhile a thousand times over and I highly recommend it.
EJ I am so excited for you! DH has a newfound ability to settle DD in for the night, previously we hadn't been game to try, but he is awesome at it! Handy, because I'm also doing ABA training, and it will be really useful for study nights. I try not to make him do it too often, but if we're in a bit of a rut, I get him to handle all the night's wakeups and often two nights worth of that is enough to set the routine good again. So fingers crossed it works for you!
DH went to Melbs last weekend and brought back some maternity clothes I had lent my SIL. Seems she has kept two pieces, one I am really upset about as I mad it myself, and it's one of those million dollar dresses that scores heaps of compliments. :( Speaking of, though, I am wearing a dress that I made today. DH bought me the fabric to cheer me up just after our m/c when I knew we couldn't try again for a while, so I planned to make a very figure hugging dress with it. Well I did, and wore it out today and scored a beautiful comment from a market stallholder, and nearly cried. It's such a special dress.
Miss Nellie is doing great now. A few no-hands standsies upsies, loving our trips to the park, not really eating much except fruit.
oh I'd love to see a pic of the dress A! I'm so impressed by other people's creativity. I am yet to find something creative that I'm actually good at.
ooo, we're going to be such kick-arse counsellors :lol: Pixie, I won't be qualified by then - but counsellors take turns on the phone, email and in person and al the other stuff that needs doing for local groups.
