Babies Born December ~ 1st-15th 2010 #4

Hannah's mobility is going well. She's rolling around the floor, I can't keep track of her if I duck out of the room for a second!!
She's run into a few things as she just rolls and rolls and rolls. She doesn't like it when she gets to a stop!
She's reaching out for her toys alot more now when she's on her belly. She's got the hang of a rattle. She shakes it all around, til she hits herself in the head! Then its tears! Hilarious!! She can sit for about 3 seconds. Then she gets excited and falls over. She's such a funny little girl.
I went to Skype DP at work (he has Skype on his phone, and happened to be in service) and she saw his picture and went nuts! Whenever she see's a picture of him she's bounces around and pokes her tongue out.
She loves sitting in the washing basket, too.

I love her 2 little bottom teeth. They're so cute when she smiles. She's actually talking really clearly now. No words, of course, but just really defined sounds, IYKWIM.
I gave her a toy today and I said 'ta' and she made a noise with sounded amazingly like 'ta'.

I've switched her formula from Nan Gold to Hienz Nurture to see how she goes. The Nan mix seems to have changed and it seems to upset her tummy a bit.
So we'll see how she goes on Hienz.

Oh, and she's also trying to get up onto her knees! So, maybe crawling isn't far away.

Off to bed now, as its late. DP is off in another town playing pool with the local team. He hasn't played in a long time so its good for him to get out.

i spoke to soon..... summah is sick :(

poor poppet went to bed at 730 like usual, woke coughing at 830, at 845 she sounded like she was choking :o so i ran in and yep there she was struggling to clear her throat of vomit, most of which was spread all over the cot and some up the walls :shakehead:

got her up and cleaned her up, checked her temp 37.7, thought ok not high yet, well high for her she usually sits at 35.3 but ill wait and see how she goes....

get us all into bed and asleep by 1030, and at 11 she wakes SCREAMING like ive never herd her scream before...

go in and she felt scorching hot, check temp 38.2, panadol comes out and a drink of water and we try to settle her... and we keep trying.... and we try everything until 3am when she crashed

so DH and i crashed, then at 530 same thing, wakes screaming, managed to settle her back to sleep till 7, she woke and drifted off till 740 when i got her up and temp is still 38.2 so off to the drs we go!

Charlotte and EJ it sounds like your little girls are going so well!

The faculty day went really well yesterday, including a nice lunch that I arranged, but delegated pick up :) I'm learning that I don't have to do it all myself. Had a great day today with Millie, she was a subject for a study at UWS auditory labs. It was interesting, she sat on my lap and looked at patterns on a screen while they played her two different accents, and filmed her to see how she responded to each accent. It was a beautiful day and it's a lovely campus, and she got a t-shirt and a "degree" out of it :) We went for a long walk this afternoon via the post office and picked up a parcel of nappy inserts (mmmm fluffy mail) and... OUR NEW ERGO! I got it on ebay - after agonising over the beautiful ones in designer fabrics available in the states, I settled on a cranberry one. Popped Millie in it and she was so comfy, she snuggled straight in... and then tried to chew on it :)

Off to the regional lifestyle expo tomorrow. We're considering a tree change...

Hope you and your bubs are all well (or in Summah's case will be well soon!).

well we are back home....

heres the story!

poor summah was still not great yesterday so planned on taking her back to the drs this morning.. DH got a last minute invite to the president dinner before the footy last night so we dropped him at the station, grabbed me takeway on the way home and summah and i settled in for the night time routine....

had her bath, got her out and dressed and walked into the kitchen and she started convulsing :( freaked out and called 000 ( u girls remember me asking how will i know when to do it?? well i figured that one out last night! :lol:) checked her temp when she stopped and it was only 37.7, according to my termometer :shakehead:

ambo's arrived not even 5 mins later and checked her temp and it was 41 :o so they quickly stripped her down and put the heart rate machine on her and it was up at the 175ish mark....

they decided we would transfer to hospital to get her looked at, so off we went to get in the truck for a drive in the ambulance and she fitted again, and DH jumped on the train to meet us at the hospital...

got to hospital and she had the usual checks and they decided to keep her because they were concerned that she had fitted and then 25 mins later fitted again, so DH made the call to stay so i could come home and get her some bottles, clothes etc....

it turns out she has a severe case of tonsilitis :( poor chicken

we were allowed to bring her home this morning so we are all now resting at home, praying that in a day or so she will be back to her cheeky self!

oh no crumpet! That's awful.
Hope she's better very soon.

My kids are both sick. again. guess we have another week or two of being stuck at home all day.

Oh goodness Crumpet. That sounds utterly terrifying. You made the right call. Good job, Mummy :hug: hoping that Summah recovers soon.

MadB, sorry to hear that your little ones are sick too :( I hope you're not stuck inside for too long.

One of my mothers' group friend's little boy has chicken pox! She has no idea where he's picked it up from, he's not in daycare or anything.

Millie started shunting herself backwards tonight, and is doing some serious circle work on both bottom and tummy!

Audax, how did she go? Hope it was a good night. Bet it felt strange for you though, I still find it weird after 5 weeks in the same room in Germany. That sounds like a really interesting study! I'm trying not to be too much of a linguist/teacher in my observations of Millie's development... but gee I love watching her learn! It's fascinating.

I have been meaning to ask you where you get the pawpaw ointment in the orange tub you mentioned a while back? Millie has killer nappy rash - think she might be teething - and I can't use her MCNs while I'm trying to treat it... Thanks.

EJ - I find Jacob is doing really well off zantac, he seems to have outgrown it. How's Harper doing? Yay for commando crawling!! Go Harper go! How have you been feeling? have your bb's cleared up now?

PP - Hows things going at work? I read things have settled back in for you, I hope you're enjoying it again. The latest video of Millie is just adorable. Yay for clapping!! What a clever little chicken! Hope her nappy rash clears up soon.

Crumpet - Far out, I feel so terrible for you guys for going through what you did with Summah, sounds like you handled it like a champion, you should be so proud for responding so quickly when Summah was in need. :hug: hope she's feeling better.

Charlotte - Is Hannah's tooth through yet?? Wow, the wedding is coming up fast isn't it? September wasn't it?? I look forward to pics! I love weddings! That's great news on Hannah's weight gain, she's doing so well.

Audax - Hows your gorgeous little girl doing, she's such a bright little one I just want to pinch her little cheeks! How was her first night in her cot? And how did YOU go with it?

Hopefully that covers everyone, I've been a bit MIA lately, Jacob has been cutting a few top teeth and it has been HELL to say the least. I was away at mum and dads and we were due to come home yesterday (Sunday) as DH started back work today. The last two nights we were there he just screamed and cried...he wouldn't sleep beyond ten/fifteen minutes and it was only while he was being held (obviously cause he needed the comfort). I've never felt so hopeless, nothing I did worked to calm him. He's also refusing feeds a lot (mostly solids) so I'm just offering him breastfeeds really frequently and he doesn't seem to be dehydrated or anything so I'm sure he's fine. We ended up leaving at 1am yesterday morning as we just weren't getting any sleep and I thought he may sleep in the car. Was the best idea I had, he slept perfectly, was such a relief. He's been ok since we got home, I think the big sleep helped, he must have been so overtired on top of everything else. And now I'm sick on top of it all!! :shakehead: I just can't win. Fingers crossed he cuts his teeth and I get better soon cause I need some rest, DESPERATELY. Anyway, I've bored you all enough, thanks for listening (reading). Hope you're all well xox

MadB - I missed seeing that your kids were sick. Hope that all clears up soon.

PP - the orange pawpaw came from one of those big super-chemists. Half my mothers' group uses it too. I got it a while back, so can't remember exactly. MooGoo is apparently ripper on nappy rash, and I also use earthchild baby balm sometimes. And raw silk liners can help. Hope it improves for you. Still no teeth here, so no teething rash. I am the same with development! I find it pretty easy to disconnect from it though, and just enjoy my baby.

Nellie-o went brilliantly in her own room last night. She went down like a dream at 6:30, then we didn't hear from her again until 3:40, when she woke for a 10 minute feed and then back to bed until 6. I'm pretty happy with that, as it's better than she was doing in our bedroom. Our bed is noisy and our house is small, so I feel like we were waking her up. So hopefully it continues to be a good solution for us.

In other news... we found a house. We signed contracts today, so now just madly hoping that it all holds together for us, because we just love it, and think we got a pretty good deal.

We took DS to the afterhours GP yesterday - his temp as 39.7 when we saw the doc and tonsils inflamed so on antibiotics. but he's much better now, so think they must have kicked in. He's still coughing though. We're hoping we can offload him on my parents tomrrow (DH is off work this week adn itching to get some quiet time to do things here).

:lol: at your little academics! I should tell you that DS is getting his drivers lessons so he can get his licence (he reckons). It's not quite a degree, but anyway, must try to keep up hey?

Sooo, I'm just waiting till this latest illness passes, and then for the teeth to come through (maybe a month or so...?) and then maybe I'll get a bit of sleep. Or, wait, there'll be something else then no doubt.
Oh, well I have most of you on fb anyway, but Miri and I were in teh local paper. And we were actually ont he cover page - you know they sometimes have little pictures up the top band with story titles? So there's a picture of me holding her next to "Breast in show. Boobie bake-off" :rofl:

We're pulling DS out of daycare to save money. Will see how that goes. I'm going to have to make a bigger effort to get out and do things with him though, as he'll miss playing with his mates there. I have ABA mondays, planning to do signing class for Miri on Tuesdays next term, maybe playgroup at the Steiner school on Wednesdays. So maybe mother's group on one fo the other days. Have to be careful, or we'll end up spending just as much money anyway :lol: Hope Miri doesn't mind being dragged around everhwere. Still have to fit swimming classes in there somewhere too

Hey everyone. Hannah sure is being a chatterbox!! Its just dada da da dadada da da!! Its so cute! I asked DP this morning if he was happy about it, and he said yes. His next mission is to teach 'Ma' so I don't miss out!! :-) He's so nice!

Hannah's having a bit of an 'annoying' day. She just makes this really annoying noise ALL day. I'm struggling a bit today. For those who don't know, I had an early miscarriage over the weekend. I was only 4 weeks, but it was a glimmer of sunshine in our life. I'm still getting really bad back and stomach cramps (they hurt like a b!tch!), and passed a few clots. I had a big cry last night, and just feel drained today. DP is being there for me, he says he doesn't really feel anything. Its just more crap that we don't need right now. I'm more mad than anything today. I just feel ripped off. There I was all excited, surprised, but excited. And now its taken away.

Shhh on FB please.

Off to deal with Hannah. Not sure what she wants....

she is slowly getting there, would be happier if she would take more in the way of fluids and food but i guess i cant expect miracles.

she is now saying mum, dad and bub, and DH rekons woo woo like a dog bark when the dog walks past but im not convinced :lol:

no sign of crawling, she sits and leans forward on her hands and rocks but thats about it!

Crumpet huge hugs to you guys and what you've just been through. An experience i'm sure you don't want to be experienced in but sounds like you handled things really well. I hope Summah is feeling better real soon. I loved watching her play with the baloon, she was having a ball!!

Jules teeth can be terrible!! I hope they give you guys a break soon. Good to hear that Jacob is doing well off zantac aswell. I'm so happy we no long her to do that. Hope rest is headed your way. The skin irritation side of the whole bb issue is really good, i thought i may have been scared with how bad it got and thankfully i'm not. But they are still really itchy which can be really annoy and sometimes i just claw away at my skin. Still heaps better than it was though...

Audax good to hear that the transiton from your room to DD's was a smooth one for all. Great to hear you have a new home!!! How long until you get to move??

PP the circle work sounds fun. I was watching Harper roam around this afternoon and she's gone from moving from place to place with a roll here or a turn there to moving around the room with such intent on where she's gonig and what she wants. I am always amazed at watching children grow and learn. Even to the extent of the milestones they have at similar times, the progression of it all... Even with #3 i'm in awe of what i see.

Charlotte, i too wrote in your other thread :hug: I'm so sorry for your loss and for the pain you have to feel. I can't talk from experience but i'm here if you need me also. I've had a couple of really difficult days also but not with Harper, MY BOYS are driving me crazy!!!!! Lots of deep breaths helps ;)

MadB, hope the kiddies feel better soon also. Coughs and colds and sickness is soooo not fun. I hope you maybe got a bit of quite time also, makes a big difference to the day. I too have taken the boys out of daycare of a monday to try and save money. For the most part i'm happy to have them home anyway, except when they carry on like they have these last two days. I hope tomorrow is sooooo much better. I might have to go check the paper cover also, i must have missed it.

All here is pretty well. One night last week Harper had 9hrs sleep!!!!! Hasn't happened again but good to know it's possible. Like i was saying to PP she's moving around with such intent now, ended up with texta on her face because the boys left them on the ground. She now sees things she wants and goes to get them. It's time to go through the toys and ensure that all little things are way out of reach. I've had two swallowing instances with my boys which involved x-rays and waiting for the item to pass, lets hope Harper can skip this. The boys have just had two days of non-stop arguing which has been really difficult. I think it's frustration at being cooped up inside again. Last week was so beautiful and they were outside all the time, this weeks it's cold and wet all over again. Aidan is enrolled into the 4yr old kinder i had as my first preferance!! Yay!! I'm looking forward to Aidan being in Kinder, he needs a lot of stimulation these days and i'm struggling to provide for him, for Charlie and for Harper and keep my own sainity. Deep breaths....

Crumpet don't you love how they respond to animals? Tink has been coping amazingly well with her affections for an old cat (she'll be 14 in October), only baulks if she grabs her tail.

EJ, scary that the boys swallowed things. With Millie starting to move we're really having to be careful, and will have to start baby proofing. Our house is not baby proof at all.

I love Thursday afternoons. Picking Millie up and knowing we have 4 days together :) She was really happy when I picked her up today, but hadn't had much sleep so she was tired and grizzly. She was hungry but didn't want to sit in her highchair so she had dinner sitting on my lap, then I just popped her in the ergo and she snuggled in. Today she has officially been "out" longer than she was "in" - born at 37+6 and today she's 38 weeks! Amazing :)

We're checking out the New England area of northern NSW for a potential tree change...

Oh, one of the other ladies won with some blancmange (far out I have no idea how to spell that :redface:) breasts. they were quite lifelike, or wobbly at least. The photograph er actually moved them to the back of the shot so you can just see them in teh corner on teh oven. he thought maybe they would be too breast=like for the editors. :lol: I actually made savoury muffins with olives on top as I'm trying to reduce my sugar intake.

Well, we achieved a really important parenting milestone last night - our first trip to the ED. We actually took Miri to the afterhours GP, but they couldn't get a proper oxygenisation level (or whatever) reading as her fingers were too small and didn't want to 'sign off' on the sick baby so sent us round to the ED. We did our spiel to the nurse and then teh GP at the AH clinic. then the triage nurse. then teh ED nurse. then the ED doctor... inthe end they decided she needed.......................paracetemol. how embarrassing. and by this point she'd finally be coaxed into haveing a feed (she'd hardly fed all day and had spewed up most of what she had taken) and fallen asleep. Well we explained about how she wouldnt' take medicine anyway and would just vomit everywhere so they suggested suppository. we thought that was a pretty cruel way to wake her so DH suggested maybe just stopping by a pharmacy on the way home and trying it later. they said ok. (DS was at my parent's place, in case you're wondering). so of course by this time there was only one pharamacy open and it didn't have the suppositories....
but after all that DD actually slept last night (she couldn't manage more than 20 minutes at a time on Tuesday night and not much better during the day) and she's eating and sleeping again today and hasn't spewed in over 24 hours. how nice.
And since being on teh antibiotics, DS has returned to his normal self. not his normal of recent weeks, but his nice normal self. :happydance: We think he must have been sick for the past 6 weeks or so :dunno: You think you're just getting the hang of parenting and then...

Just a long vent (to my favouritest ladies!). Had MIL on the phone (you know, the smoking one from hell). She didn't know I was listening, but she spoke to DP about how he shouldn't be marrying me, she's a victim, she's not happy about the wedding, I'm a "stuck up, self righteous, b!tch who needs to get off the high horse" and apparently I think I'm better than anyone else, oh! AND! I'm full of *****. AND!!! I'm nothing but disrespectful. So, my evening has been fabulous. DP gone off to the pub to have a few pots.
She's not going to accept the wedding. DP's making a terrible mistake marrying me because I'm soooo bad, lol. She doesn't think she'll come (which she will) and my bridesmaid has pulled out (SIL). I've been shaking for ages. I'm so so mad. She can't look at me because of what I've done (yeah so bad! I've had some balls and stood up for what I believe in!) and she doesn't know if she can look at DP either.
Who does she think she is? AND, DP was standing up for me and my beliefs (which, apparently are stupid and overprotective) and she's "so disappointed in you that you think the same as that b!tch." Also, because I don't let her hold Han enough, Han is going to grow up unable to show or receive affection. First of all, Hannie is going through a really shy stage and anyone she doesn't know makes her scream and cry. Its hilarious, but.....
Her family have pulled out of coming to the wedding because we didn't invite all of them. (Its one uncle/aunt from each side. Without that rule the wedding would have been close to 300, instead of 45. I have a massive massive family, and DP's isn't small either). With his mother's family its one-in-all-in or no-one goes. His father's family are easy going.
My family, if one gets an invite and the others don't they just laugh and joke about who's the favourite and move on. Its no biggy.
She hates me, I'm not fond of her. I'm wondering how drunk DP will be when he gets home, knowing he has to get up at 6.30am tomorrow for work.
She makes me physically sick. If she says she's out of Han's life and plays the "now Han doesn't have a grandmother" card, well... She's got my folks (who she see's every couple days, as they live down the road from us), DP's father and his partner who live a fair way away but we still see them, my Nan who lives across town from us. Han isn't going to be without family. And, at the end of the day, if its just me, DP, Han and maybe another little sibling then thats all that matters.

As for Hannah not being about to know how to give and receive affection because some weirdo she seen twice in her life can't hold her because she's had a smoke, thats bull. Han is so affectionate. She's right into cuddles at the moment. She's just shy. The only people she REALLY likes are me, DP, my parents and 2 brothers who still live at home, and our ex housemate who still visits most days. Going to playgroup can be nightmare lately if there's alot of kids.
Anyone else has to be screamed and hyperventilated at (lol) for at least 10-15 minutes before Han can tolerate them.
Thanks for listening. OH! The reason MIL was so mad was because of my latest status about if you're not excited for us about the wedding then you're not welcome. SIL saw it, reported it to MIL (SIL used to be so nice....) and thats why MIL is off her tits.
SIL is out of the wedding, I don't care if she reckons she still wants to be in it. She's out. She backstabbed me. DP is going to ring her tomorrow night and see what the go is, and (hopefully) fire her for me.

If DP was home with me (and sober) I'd be stuck into those Jim Beam cans in the fridge that are calling my name.... But, think its time for a glass of water and climb into bed.

PP Yay for your 4 days!!!! Enjoy every second xo Yes i got the bad mum award twice :redface: Aidan swallowed a paper clip at about 12 months of age. I have no idea why on earth we even had a paper clip in our house but we did and he found it. When i realised i helped it down while trying to get it out :o Off to the after hours clinic we went to for x-rays and sure enough you see a paper clip clearly in his tummy. Thankfully it was in it's proper form and didn't cause any issues while making it's way through. Charlie boy was almost exactly the same age when he swallowed a detachable roof piece to a matchbox car. I was thankfully on the ground playing with them, didn't know it was in there but all of a sudden saw this look on his face, picked him up and tried to get it out but it too went down. I wasn't certain that's what it was but i knew the piece exisited (why oh why didn't i not just throw it in the bin????) i knew he'd just chocked on something so i said to DH that i wasn't taking the chance of everthing just being ok. So off we went to the after hours again, had a bit of a tricky time getting them to belive me that it happened given that i wasn't entirely sure. But had the x-rays and there it was!! It too passed with in a few days. So i really don't want Harper to follow in her brothers footsteps with that one :lol: Enjoy searching for a tree change it sounds very exciting.

MadB i hope your little ones are feeling much better, how's DD lately? My three now have runny noese :doh: Grrrrrr Poor DS for possibly feeling sick for that long. There are some horribly stubborn bugs around. Woo hoo on the clapping and singing, clever girl !

Oh Charlotte sometimes extended family can be so difficult. I really hope they come around so they can enjoy a really special day with you, your DP and your beautiful little girl. Be strong xo

I've just sat here for about an hour in PEACE!!! DH and the boys have gone to help my mum set her caravan up in a caravan park and then he's off fishing and visiting his parents over night. Mum will be back later and we're going to try and finish a few quilts and Harper has been in bed since 10am!!!! She's been waking at least 4 times the last few nights but i think it's the nose. She's doing pretty well though.

I need to ask for anyone and everyones prayers right now. My SIL's cousin has a 2yr old (turned 2 last week) and she's in hospital and is really unwell. They thought it was pneumonia as she had fluid on her lungs but with treatment it kept returning so they looked into it further and it turns out she has lung cancer. I know these people only briefly but they are constanly in my throughts at the moment, this can not happen to a little tiny toddler. The world can work in some cruel cruel ways. I am not aware of any ways of treating it yet but my SIL did say they are unsure about chemo. Please just keep them in your thoughts and send lots of strength and hopes for a miracle out this way.

summah is a lot better, still a little snotty with a cough but it seems to be improving each day.

after not having lumpy food for nearly a week she is having a few issues eating but its improving too, just have to get her fluid intake back up!

Charlotte, :comfort:. Like you need MIL's garbage at the moment. I think parents can sometimes struggle with the fact that things have changed since they raised us, and if we don't do things the way they did, it's an affront to their parenting. You have every right to raise Hannah the way you and DP see fit, and to have the wedding you want. Stand your ground!!

EJ I'd love to see pictures of your quilts! Oh my goodness, that poor family. It's rotten enough when it happens to anyone, much less such a young, innocent child. My thoughts and prayers are with them, and you.

Unfortunately my lovely 4 day stretch with Millie has been marred by her being sick. She has been snotty and coughing, and has not been sleeping too well. She ate pretty well this morning and at lunch, but tonight she chucked up half her dinner. She was much happier after the spew though - I think she just had so much mucous (sorry, TMI) in her tummy. Yucko. We still did a few things. I had to have my bb ultrasound on Friday - as both Mum and her Mum had breast cancer, I'm high risk so have to have ultrasounds. Headed out to the baby and kids markets today and picked up the pendant and cufflinks I had made with Millie's hand and footprints :) So happy with them, but can't wear my pendant til after Father's Day!!! Millie is trying desperately to crawl. The cat is proving the greatest inspiration - Millie tries to grab her tail, and Tink twitches it away!

I'm soooo glad I got the ergo. With Millie being sick she has been really clingy, and the ergo has let me keep her close but not feel like I'm glued to the spot.

Hello to everyone else, hope you're all doing well.

We are doing ok here, Jacob has cut two of his top teeth with another two also on the way still.. Hopefully after those we'll get at least a bit of a break. He's a lot happier for the most part but teeth are still causing troubles. He's still in bed with me, I'm not pushing him into his cot, he'll let me know when he's ready for that again I'm sure and then we'll deal with it. He's crawling absolutely everywhere, he's never where I leave him..so I don't leave him unattended much! He gets into everything...and FAST. He's pulling himself up onto everything he possibly can, tv cabinent, couch, anyone that's sitting around... Where have our 'babies' gone!!

Good morning ladies!

We're all good here... Not much happening really. Eden's day sleeps are absolute crap. There's no routine to his sleeping. Sometimes he'll sleep 3 x 30 mins, sometimes he'll sleep 30 in the morning and 2hours at lunch sometimes just one 2 hour sleep. He still sleeps all night though now the sun is rising here at 6am, he seems to be waking with that. It doesn't matter cause DS1 is waking 15 mins before that....

He's great with his eating. He'll eat anything & everything. He seems to have put on some weight cause his face is getting chubby

JULES - Where has your baby gone??? I still have mine. No sign of crawling here.

It seems my internet is working ok now so you might get more of me... When we get back from Sydney in 2 weeks.... A wedding & MIL's 60th. I'll be returning with my sisters 3 girls for 10 day so I'm gonna know how Cathy feels with all those kids Eeeeeek

The mucous was making Miri vomit too. Lovely isn't it?

DS is still coughing lots and hasn't slept the past 2 nights (he's ok during the day). Got some medicine today so hope that he gets some sleep. DD is ok. The odd cough and bit of runny nose but otherwise fine.

AFU - We're ok here. Jacob is still going with this teething business. Doesn't sleep. Tiring me out. But he's worth it all, I just love watching him learn and grow. I had a few really off days in the last two weeks but I'm feeling a bit better now.. DH and I had been arguing a fair bit and things got the better of me.

We're sort of almost okay here. Millie was really sick last week and I came down with it on Monday... so Tue Wed Thur I was home with her. I saw my GP on Tuesday, and when I asked if Millie would be okay to go back to daycare on Wed, she said, "oh no, you need to keep her home and watch her... and you need to stay home and rest!" I laughed out loud and told her the two were mutually exclusive! Anyway, on the mend but trying to catch up on work is not a lot of fun.

Today I was running an assessment task with my year 10 class. They had to show a scene from an Aussie film and analyse it. One pair chose the removal scene from Rabbit Proof Fence. Now, this film is an HSC text so I've seen it more time than I care to remember, but the removal scene has always been hard to watch... but it's the first time I've seen it since Millie was born and I was actually fighting back tears. Man, it is gut-wrenching. I hugged Millie extra tight this afternoon.

Sorry I've been MIA. Have seen this thread pop up a few time but just couldn't be bothered, lol!!
I had a dream I posted in here, but I don't think I did. I'm too tired!

Everything going well on the MIL front. SIL has pulled out of the wedding. FIL (who I love to bits) has bought us a trip to Tassie for our honeymoon. I'm so touched by his gift. So, come the 22nd of September DP, Hannah and I are off to Tasmania for 7 days.

Hannah is an angel. She's been a bit red today so I think the teeth are coming again. SHE'S GRINDING HER TEETH!!! It's driving us MAD!! She only has 3 teeth. She woke up at 4am the other night and we just left her as she'll usually put herself back to sleep within a few minutes (she doesn't sound very awake at all when she wakes between 1am and 4am. We can tell when she's awake and we'll get up to her straight away) and she started grinding her teeth and we could hear it through the monitor.
She can sit up by herself, and clap, an say Dadada, Na, lala la LA LA la la LALALA!!!! She's gonna be a singer, I think! :-)
She had physio today and she's doing everything she should be doing for her corrected age and the next step is crawling which the physio said it may not happen for another 2 months and that's all fine.

That's about all for now, I think I'm gonna try and get some sleep. DP is off playing pool tonight about an hour away with the local team. So he'll probably come home drunk and snore all night. Or, he'll be a lump and I'll think he's dead again. I hate it when that happens. He has a habit of stopping breathing when he's asleep and its worse when he's been drinking. I'm thinking about making him get tested soon for sleep apnea (sp?), but he went through a good patch. But now he's stopping breathing alot more.

Get him tested Charlotte. DH has a CPAP now. He only has very milk apneoa (far otu how do you spell that?) but it stops him snoring and seems to help his sleep. He sleeps int eh other room usually anyway ;)

Miri is sick again. Crackly chest now so on antibiotic to see if that does it. Otherwise probably brocholitis (also don't know how to spell that). Yay.
Miri almost had a black eye when her sinises were al gunked up. maybe he hit himself with soemthing? iri's always doing that.

That movie is really upseting and inspirational isn't it? It's amazing that she walked all the way back. Hope you guys are well again soon Pixie.

Hannah is going well today. She was constipated again, but I gave her some yogurt and that cleaned her out really well! We've got another surgical review on the 31st, if everything goes well the surgeon is going to push out the reviews. At the moment they're every 3 months. So maybe move it to 5 or 6 months.

That's about all for now. DP was smashed when he came home. He vomited all over the bathroom which he had to clean up. Its not like him at all.
I think its still got to do with his mother. But, he got it all out of his system so hopefully he going to be OK now.

Mad B - they won't put Charlie on Antibiotics as they say he is to young.

We had an awesome Mothers' Group playdate on Friday. Sunny weather, good food, good company! So great to watch the babies together. Quiet weekend. Gym this morning (arrrrrgh!). Work tomorrow (double aaarrrrrgh!).

I'm getting super, super clucky. Uh-oh ;)

Yeah, the ABs are a last-ditch effort to shift this - they've both been sick for the past 3-4 mnonths (though will brief breaks here and there). They don't seem to be doing much anyway, so I think perhaps it's not a bacterial infection in any case. They are giving her nasty runny poos, poor love. So, on the whole, probably shouldn't have bothered. Oh well.

Can't believe you're clucky already! It'll be another year or so before it gets me, I think :)

Hi ladies, i'm around i've just been feeling a bit blah lately. It could be a mixture of exhaustion, stress, winter and who knows what else. I've had moments of feeling so overwhelmed with what i have to keep on top of looking after the kids, the husband, the house and the bills... I have to come in there somewhere also...

The kids were ok for about a week then late last week Harper got sick again with a cough and on and off it was a croupy cough. I took her to the dr's and he said i could give her a dose of redipred for the croup but she also had a red sore throat. The croup didn't last thankfuly but her throat is so sore and for the first time with any of my children i am having to give both panadol and nurofen to help her. She gets a bit warm and irritable so i give her panadol and the pain you see she has when she coughs is eased with the nurofen. I went to the chemist today to see how long it would be ok to giver her the pain med before it's too long. They said give it another couple of days so we'll see how she goes...

Other than that she's really good, when she's dosed up she's pretty happy and is giving beautiful hugs, when they wear off she's really clingy and grizzly. All was good with the health nurse, she weighs 7.2kg and she had no concerns.

There's a facebook thing that's been plaing on my mind a bit... My SIL in QLD has a 4 month old and she also has 2 boys slightly older than mine and she made a comment about controlled crying and something along the lines of tell me i'm doing the right thing... Up until now i think she's been the kind of baby that didn't like to be put down and she was getting her to sleep by rocking her each night and i think she was trying to get out of that as it was getting a bit too much being that there were two other kids to care for and my BIL works nights. What i'm most shocked and sadened by was all the comments of 'you're doing the right thing... tough love and short term pain, long term gain...' I couldn't not write something but out of almost 30 comments i think i was 1 of 3 who said don't do it. AND so many of the comments encouraging her to stick at it were liked by random others. I don't know what i'm getting at really, i think it's my mood of late and just not wanting to think of my SIL and my niece doing that. I know you have to do what works for you and what works for some may not work for others but i have just gone and gotten out my copy of What Every Parent Needs to Know and am brushing up on it myself because that is the book that influanced my way of thinking a lot. Her birthday was earlier this month and i still owe her a present and was considering buying her a copy but does that seem a little pushy?? Clearly i'm a minority in amoungst advice being given and i don't want to imply anything or upset anyone. Maybe i'm just best to shut up... I also thought about offering BB but it's my safe place and i want to stay anonymous. Anyway just had to get it out to ladies who'd understand.... Thanks xoox
