EJ, I think sometimes rather than saying don't do x, it can be mroe effective to offer an alternative view/suggestion. Sometimes all parents here is you mustn't do rocking/feeding etc, you really have to do crying, etc, etc, which can leave them feeling like there really are no other alternatives. If she's asking the question, it may be that she doesn't feel entirely comfortable with it, but saying "no you aren't" doesn't help her (probably make her defensive) but saying, hey what about xxx, might be helpful. :dunno: I woulodnt' do it on facebook though :) It's a good book, why not get it for her :)

Hey girls. Sorry I've been so absent. Things have been hectic around here, with getting the house sorted, getting ready to move, helping my mum defeat cancer, going to Sydney and now Eleanor is sick. Busy times! House = good, mum = amazing, Sydney = draining, sick baby = not that different to having a newborn, really. Took her to the doc today with a 40 temp, she has a chest infection and red sore throat, so is on her first ever course of ABs. Booooo. She loves them though, the suspension is delicious (I licked)
EJ - of course you should say something. Make it warm, make it loving, and like MadB says, offer a suggestion, but do be the one who speaks up. This way it's 3 from 30, rather than 2 from 30. I'm pretty vocal on FB - these babies will grow up to run our country(or at the very least, scan our groceries) and I'm not so sure that the short term pain will bring us long term gain.

did you get the raspberry flavour audax? miri hates it, but she mostly swallows now. You should see her little 'performance' clenching her mouth shut when she sees it :lol:

Harper was actually the best she's been today. She hasn't had any meds at all today and she's eaten without visably being uncomfortable when swallowing.
I feel for your DD Audax, Harper had the sore throat and you could tell it was really hurting her. But temps of 40 that is not good at all. Hope that's no longer happening. Hope things settled and start to fall into place with your busy busy days.
MadB i know the face your talking about :D Harper is quite happy to have nurofen but she cringes at having the panadol.
Sounds like Charlie is one beautiful little man Cathie and keeping everyone on their toes now. A whole new world has become available to him :D
Thanks MadB and Audax. The comment i made was...You don't have to listen to me but i'd say don't do it :) At the same time though i do understand that you need to do something to get your bedtime routine a little easier on you. We feed to sleep and that works for us. She's not always fully alseep when i put her in her bed and that's ok too. To get her to self settle right from her early weeks i'd rock her in my arms until she was just getting sleeping and then encourage the self settle. Do what works but i hope it doesn't take too long to get results :) That was ok wasn't it ??? :dunno: It wasn't being to opinionated, it was offering an alternative. Clearly no one liked what i said though because no one 'liked' my comment ;) Then a little further down i added because she asked me if Harper woke with a sore belly feeding to sleep... Bel Harper sleeps fine after the feed but she doesn't doesn't sleep through the whole night. I spoke to the health nurse about it and that's when she told me to try the 'camping out'. But it really doesn't bother me that much, Charlie never did until 15 months but Aidan did and was easily by this age. It really is just the difference in the children. I manage to burp Harper most feeds and it's not an issue. But again that works for her it may not work for others. If you don't get results and you feel Grace really isn't responding to it there are other things you can try. Good luck xoox Then my last comment was... Then another SIL wrote a seperate comment to her... Hows the controlled 'comforting' going? Speaking with my friend who is a maternal and child health nurse said its 'not controlled crying' anymore but 'controlled comforting'? She said its more directed at settling baby til they are almost asleep and to leave them to settle themselves. They dont favour leaving the bubs to cry for long periods of time now. Hope that is a help and good luck with it all its all trial and error I think. :) Which i said is what i do and how well it works for us but my SIL made no comment to that at all so maybe she wasn't too impressed about it????
Anyway like i said i think what disturbs me the most is how much encouragement she got from everyone and all i could do was think about my little niece who for 4 months has been rocked to sleep in her mums arms and all of a sudden is no longer allowed. It seems that she had success by the second night so in some ways that's a good thing.

Also an update on the little girl i told you about. She has been diagnosed with lymphoma and has to have 2yrs of chemo. They are having a fundraiser for her family this weekend which i hope to go to.

I think it's strawberry flavour. She loves it. She used to make that face at Panadol, but we have switched to Dymadon which is yummalicious too. Although not as good as the Amoxil.
If I get a break today I'll have to make up a probiotic for her. She is awake and just gumming on the boob right now. So cute.

That settling method worked with DS after he was 2 ;) But I agree, your posts were good EJ. Nice and helpful sounding.
Hey guys, just popping in quickly before I pass out from exhaustion. Went to Melbourne and back today (nearly 1,000kms) for Hannah's 9 month surgical review.
She's been given the all clear for anything that may have gone wrong once she started solids. Her occational constipation is just something that will most likely affect her for many many years. It's just a result of the Gastroschisis.
Her surgeon is so happy with her, and doesn't want to see her until at least May next year, and then once a year from then on.
They just want to chart her weight for the next few years, as she's on the 3rd centile. She's not skinny at all, and she was born on the 3rd centile.
The surgeon says that she will probably stay on the low end of 'normal' weight wise until she starts school and then she'll 'catch up'.
Falling asleep as I write this.... night night.
Charlotte, that is so good that Hannah is cruising along just fine, with the updates i see on Hannah's fellow gastroschisis bubs you must consider yourselves very lucky :)

Yes MadB what worked for my Aidan hasn't worked for Charlie and Harper (but i think my parenting has changed slightly anyway :)) but i agree totally, it's all trail and error to see what works for each little one.
It seems that my SIL had sucess in the first night and day after so that is good in that i assume there weren't too many tears involved. I know my feed to sleep can be another one that can get tricky when time is a factor but it just doesn't involve the crying i suppose :dunno: I was just trying to offer her a gentler option. Thanks for your input and thanks for listening girls.
There is no noise in here except for the hum of the computer!! Harper is asleep and the boys are at their cousins house (had a sleepover last night) so i've been relaxing but also catching up on washing and folding and tidying up.
Jules your have one clever little man, his birthday is the day before Harpers and she's barely bearing any weight on her legs at the moment. I showed DH last nigth and he was pretty impressed also :) All mine have walked at 14ish months so i'm not used to seeing such a little one so close.
That's about it for now, Harper is much better, stil coughing but no pain. She'll be 9 months on Monday!!!! My gosh time is flying, better start thinking of her 1st birthday.

DD clearly doesn't take after me in the locomotive department. I was a 9 month walker. She still just sits, with the occasional swivel if she spots a "thing" She is just so curious! It's really hard to keep up with her little brain. Toys are boring, she's been there, done that. Needs new cool stuff all the time. Even kitchen utensils are getting old. And my phone, boooooring. She wants jewellery, and power cords and kitchen knives! Or outside. Total outdoors addict. Probably because of that big camping trip when she was 4 months old. At least at our new house we have a fully fenced and safe yard she can hang out in.
All that said, still sick. 4 out of the last 5 hours, plonked on the couch, boobing it. My bum hurts. And I'm bored.
Well, Hannah is still going well. Think her teeth are moving again as she's not sleeping today. Awake from 6.30am to 10am. 12pm to 4pm. And she's just gotten up again after a 1 hour sleep.
Not much else has been happening, she can say Dada, Nanana (not sure what this means when she yells it), la la la (she sings!) and hello amazingly enough.
It's bloody creepy! She'll just yell out from bed "HELLO". And when you say it to her, she'll say it back.
She's bashing the keys, so I better go!

Been a bit absent lately, sorry for not keeping up to date very well. I'm up north with my family and find it hard to get the time to open my laptop, thank god for iphones and facebook, or I'd be feeling like I've dropped off the face of the earth :lol: I read along using tapatalk so I've been keeping tabs on you all :)
EJ - I think you handled the situation with your SIL extremely well! I don't blame you for hoping your niece isn't being put through that...I honestly get SO many comments about how soft I am in my approach to Jacob and his sleeping and I feel like telling them to shove it, I'm the one being woken at night still and I'M ok with it, so why is it such a problem for THEM?! *sigh* anyway, glad it's all sorted. Thanks for the comments on Jacob, in all honesty, I'm sooooo not ready for any of this walking business but he's so busy and I just haven't had any part in pushing him to do it, he's just doing it all on his own terms. Having said that, I'm one of four kids (my eldest brothers are twins) and the latest we walked was ten months so we were all quite early walkers. The way I see it, he's awake so much he has plenty of time to practice :lol: I hope miss Harper Barper is doing really well
MadB - I'm LOVING your new avvy!! Has Miri recovered? I hope she's finish her antibiotics and they did the trick. It sucks so much when they're sick!

We're doing ok here, just plodding along. Jacob is just so happy and funny now, he wins hearts everywhere we go. He's super active, he's like a can of worms. I was trying to make his cereal this morning with him on my hip and he just DOESNT sit still, (so jealous of people who's babies just sit there on their mothers hips), he ended up squirming that much to try and get down that he ended up being held like a football. He just wants to climb everything and is now confidently walking behind toys with wheels, we just walk behind him as a safety precaution. I'm up north at mum and dads still and they have a lot of tiles (whereas we have mostly carpet) so it's keeping me VERY busy trying to keep tabs on him at all times.

so ive been so slack getting on here lately, between illness' and being crazy busy i havnt had much time for anything else!!!
So, summah is 100% after her tonsilitis!
we are about 10 days shy of 9 months now :o as if saying i had a 8 month old wasnt bad enough im now saying 9 month old!!!
we are sitting all the time, will occasionally roll but still hates tummy time :wall: , when she is sitting she walks her hands forward and rocks up onto her knees but thats as far as we are with moving....
slowly getting stronger in the legs, as for balance, whats that? lol.....
all i hear is "mummmmm" all day everyday! occasionally a dad or bub get thrown in..... hmmm what else?? oh finger foods and lumps are finally on the improve again after her being sick, she grabbed my lamb cutlet the other night and had a field day with it!!!
so once summah was better, we had about 10 days and i got sick, a chest, throat and wind pipe infection :shakehead: pretty sure being a mum and being sick is just hell! but we got through the worst of it and im nearly better now.
thats about all for us really...

Jules, Millie and I are doing well, thanks! I don’t think I have the balance quite right yet… but Millie loves daycare so I’m managing okay. We’ll be trying again soon. I’m soooo ready to go but we promised ourselves we’d give Millie a year to herself. I dunno about support… my sister lives 600m down the road but it seems like we’re going it alone a lot of the time as our parenting styles are very different and she’s super busy – has her 3 kids off doing activities nearly every day and she’s involved in P&F, martial arts, scrapbooking, PartyLite etc etc… I’ve been really lucky to have such a great mothers group, they have been my primary source of support, along with all of you ladies of course!

As for us… after being off sick in week 5, working my butt off in week 6, half way through week 7 (last week) I got called by daycare to pick Millie up – high temp, crying, not sleeping and refusing all food and drink. Very out of character. Poor little dot passed out in my arms at the GP. Viral throat infection. Dymadon and rest. *sigh* fortunately DH could work from home the next day so I didn’t have to miss another day of work. I’m getting there with it. Like I said to Jules, I don’t think I have the balance quite right yet, but I’m able to focus on work while I’m there and on Millie when I’m at home. I probably need to be doing more work stuff at home, but I just can’t bring myself to do it. Total shift in priorities.
Had a great day at the zoo for Father’s Day! Millie was such a good girl, apart from the small issue of her clawing the skin on my chest/neck! I had her in the ergo and she kept yanking on my new necklace (with her handprint), so I took it off. I usually wear a bf necklace that is totally kid proof, basically she could dangle from it by her hand and it’d be fine, and she plays with that all the time. I didn’t realise that she’d go for the throat in the absence of a necklace to twiddle!! OUCH.
Millie is totally clothbummed while at home now. I’m working on her daycare. I think I’m now spending most of my spare income on nice nappies. Must stop doing that *forehead slap*

Hope the dads had a great fathers day. We had brecky here with some family and then after that just a lazy day on the couch. I really relaxed too which is very rare for me, at one stage i looked at some washing and told myself no i'll do it tomorrow. It felt great to just do nothing like DH does :p
Jules i think the thing that bothered me the most about the CC thing was the amount of encouragement she got :o I'm with you on the sleep bothering everyone else but me, Haper on a really good night might have a 5 hour block but it doesn't bother me after 4 years of sleep being all over the place as long as i get some i'm ok. You can see it's all Jocob and what he's wanting to do, he's a determind little man :)
Woo hoo for the toothie pegs for Miri, i hope they aren't causing her too much grief.
Crumpet how are you feeling? It's not fun when we get sick because no one ever wants to look after us and the day is no different to the little ones. Hope you're better really quickly.
Cathie i'm with you on not going out too much. Lucky for us we're quite close to the shops so if we need anything and the weather is ok we walk and we can walk to kinder and swimming too. We don't use the car that much until the end of the week. All's good here :) Hope Charlie boy and the rest of the kiddies get better quick.

All's good here i'm very tired and need to get to bed. Harper barper is doing great, she seems to have settled into a new day time sleeping pattern. She's now sleeping longer than an hour most sleeps during the day and some can be as long as 2-3. Eating, playing, giving lots of hugs. My boys have been such a pleasure of late also, they are playing together and being considerate of eachother, the other week i was so over being the peace maker for EVERYTHING but this week i've barely had to be once. I just love seeing them play and get along.

ETA I missed you PP :) Your photos from the zoo looked great. I've never been to Taronga zoo and the one of the deer (i think??) with the city in the background looked amazing. Oh my gosh on the pinchhing!!!!!! Harper barper likes to pinch as hard as she possibly can on the flabby bits (:redface:) of my arms when i'm nursing her. So painful. I'm excited to think you guys are almost ready for #2. Yay a brother or sister for Millie!!!
Hey ladies..... I haven't had much time to get on here.
I have been sick with the flu since last Friday. I keep getting high temperatures which puts me back in bed for an early night. I guess I haven't been able to shift it as I haven't been able to rest. I dropped the girls at the airport at 2pm yesterday and by around 3pm my temp started rising again. I feel terrible today so have planned to do NOTHING today in hope I can get better. Thank god DH is able to cook/clean/look after the boys.
Eden and I are flying to Melbourne tomorrow to catch up with a group of ladies from BB. They are the Dec 15 - 31 group. Another BB member is coming from Newcastle but most are there in Melbourne anyway. I'm very much looking forward to a rest from 5 kids but really hope I can shift this flu TODAY!
Eden's doing well. Just started cammo crawling yesterday. His sleeps are getting better. He is doing one big sleep (1.5hrs+) & one little sleep (30/40 mins) a day plus sleeping through till around 6.30am. He loves his food, doesn't care for his milk. It's been a little difficult trying to find the balance with milk & food but I think we're getting there.
He still only has 4 teeth. He has finally started pooing lol, even numerous times a day... DH says how can a little baby poo so much, and I say that he has 5 months worth to make up!
EJ - We had the same thing on FB with my best GF who is in the states. She asked how she can get her 4 month old to sleep through the night & everyone was saying CC. There were 20 or I then came in and just made a simple statement that - He is too young for controlled crying anyway. She said, yeah, I don't think I could do it anyway. Then a few mothers came in to say that they would never recommend it. So the coin flipped. The others shut up then lol.
PP - Your necklaces are adorable. It got me thinking I'd like to get both the boys fingerprints.
CATHIE - The last few nights my blocked up nose has caused my sleepness nights :( I slept reasonably well last night though. I have heard, and I don't know how true this is, but a doctor told my sister that conjunctivitis can be caused by snot going into the eyes. Just putting it out there.
CRUMPET - Gosh I hear you on the sickness. Just so hard to rest to get better isn't it. Glad Summah is over the tonsilitis, yuk

Miri doesn't poo often still (99% milk diet), but she's screaming when she does. That's not good, is it? Any thoughts? Poos are not hard, but thicker than previously and littls bits of food in it. might post in baby area too

MadB i'm really not too sure i'm sorry. Maybe with the 1% food she does have offer things that may help her. Does you eating things such a prunes etc. pass through the BM and have a simiar effect?? I hope you can find some way to help her. Loved the spag video clip aswell, she's gorgeous little girl :)

EJ, sorry that Barper pinches you too, but I'm so glad I'm not alone! Must be something they do around this time, I was speaking to one of my MG friends on the phone today while I was out with Millie in the ergo (I found some moogoo msm in a chemist - we had been talking about it so I wanted to see if she wanted me to get her a tub), and I couldn't get through a sentence without yelping. My friend said sympathetically, "Is she pinching?... Sophia does the same." I hope you got some sewing done! I'm almost there with my patchwork jacket, just the collar and binding to go! I guess I'll finish it just in time for the weather to warm up!
Georgi, great to "see" you! Man, I hope you get better soon. Enjoy your time in Melbourne, my sister had a girl's weekend down there and had a blast.
MadB, I hope Miri's pooing issue is resolving itself, poor bub. Millie loves pears and they seem to keep her regular, although they seem to be going out of season so I'll have to find her a new obsession.
Going back to the facebook thing and parenting... I need some advice so might also post in the boohoo room. I am having some real issues with my sister's relationship with her middle child. It is sooooo, so sad. R will be 6 on 23 September and she never seems to be terribly happy and is very much an attention seeker. Positive, negative, whatever. DH, Millie and I went to their place on Saturday night and my sister had her phone with her pretty much all the time and was checking those games (I think things like farmville, bejewelled blitz etc) while we were talking, which is rude, but she was keeping up with conversation so... okay. R was nagging for food - we had nibblies and the kids had gone to town on the cheese and bikkies, and my sister had told them no more before dinner. But R seems to use food as an attention seeking tool, so she kept asking and asking. My sister kept telling her no, wait for dinner etc... without once looking up from her phone. R actually said, "Will you just LOOK at me?!" I almost cried. My sister didn't respond. R was next to me on the couch so I just took her hand and asked her to read me a book. She did, beautifully, and I gave her hugs and praise. She's such a sweet, bright little girl who wants nothing more than her mother's attention. Soooo... what do I do? Should I bring it up with her? Keep in mind she's the one who yelled at me and hung up on me one week after Millie was born because I wouldn't take her advice to just quit bf because it was too hard... so I don't think she'd appreciate any parenting advice from me. I just feel so sad for R. My sister does love her kids, she just keeps them busy and prioritises her own "things". Totally different to how we were raised, totally different again to how I'm raising Millie.
Sorry about the length of that. I just can't get it out of my head and you guys don't know her - most of my friends in real life know her (and she's friended them on facebook which is a whole other story!!) - so I feel I can talk to you about it.
Busy weekend coming up - lunch with a preggie friend tomorrow (she has requested my sticky date pudding - who am I to deny the whims of a preggie lady!) and yum cha on Sunday. Mmmmm, foodie weekend :)

That's a tough one with your sister. I was just thinking the other day how much I hate it when people sit there fiddling with their phones and things and vowing that my children will never have handheld games for that reason :lol: I think online stuff can be so addictive though, or certainly compulsive. I'm guilty of this too (hellloooo bb :duh:). I guess you would know best if she'd be receptive to anything. There's not much you can really do besides being a great auntie :) maybe if you show her a different way of interacting with her daughter she might try a different approach?

PP not really sure what i can offer. It really is quite sad to read in many ways but not sure what you could do. By the sounds of it if you attempted to say something it more than likely wouldn't turn out too well. Are you able to talk to you mum about it?? Is your sister working? Maybe she's in a bit of a rutt at the moment? Unfortunately what ever the reason maybe your niece is suffering. Can you ask your niece over for a sleepover and continue some special one on one time with her? Maybe you can connect with her and do something about the situation that way,? Like i said not too sure if i'm of any help but i can understand how you want to do something... anything...

Cathie - hope the conjuntivitis has passed, it's horrible, my nephew just had it. Yeah, Jacob definately keeps me on my toes!! We keep to ourselves too and we only have one child :lol:
PP - sounds to me that you have the balance pretty well sorted, you have handled it so well! I think when I think of having another I get scared of the lack of support incase I have another Jacob. He's been a wonderful boy but between silent reflux and bad sleeping, I worry I'll have another one the same and I worry about having to deal with it alone. If I knew I'd have an easier baby I'd go back now, I can't wait to have another! How exciting that you're ready to try soon! Hmmm, that situation with your sister is sad :( Your niece sounds lovely, she obviously just doesn't know any better. I think you did a wonderful thing, you are a fantastic aunty! I agree with the other girls suggestions, I think having her over for a sleep over would be a great idea, spend some one on one time with her once Millie is in bed and show her that she doesn't need to behave a certain way just to get attention. EJ - the amount of people that are supportive of cc is frightening, I'd rather not know!! I feel for the tiny little bubs, they don't know what's going on... I just had two of my brothers having another go at me about Jacobs sleeping and I'm so ready to just slap them, I just smile and say 'it affects you how?' The worse part is they view ME as the one being a 'bad parent' by not forcing him to sleep whereas I feel I'm a 'normal' parent by doing what it takes to make my boy feel secure and loved (not to mention happy) *sigh* anyway, can't keep everyone happy. Sounds like your little ones are doing so well, how sweet Harper Barper is giving cuddles awww, aren't they the best!?
Georgi - Sorry to hear you've been unwell, your body must be so exhausted, you've been one busy mumma of late!! Hope you're feeling much better and have an awesome time in Melbourne!!
MadB - No ideas on the pooing issue from me sorry :( Sounds horrible though, any solutions as yet?? Hope it was only a passing thing and she's not so uncomfortable now. I won't even get started on hand held games.....my cousin has one for her six year old and he ignores everyone and everything while it's in his hands, he's not a people person and it's pretty clear why.
Anyway, all good here....Shaun made it back from his ride, we missed him soooo much. Things had been tough between us lately with all of us so sick etc and we weren't really appreciating each other... the break has done us good and we're very happy to finally be back together :) I'm glad he's back safe and sound after hearing of a bad accident on the ride - one guy lost his life and another broke a leg. (on a charity ride mind you!!)

My gosh Jules that is terrible to hear of during a charity ride or any ride at all. But glad your DH is back. How did he go with the allergy testing?? You don't have to go into it if you don't want to here just hope you guys don't get another episode like the other month. Just kind of randomly on the preservative topic we were discussing a little while back.... i saw my cousin today and she had taken her son (almost 4) to see a speech therapist as he was stuttering a lot and the therapist has said that it's a reaction to food preservatives. I've heard of the behivoural issues from preservatives but not speech so much. Those who put these things in the food we and our children eat have a lot to answer for.
Jules tell your family/DH's family to get a copy of the book What Every Parent Needs To Know by Margot Sunderland and when they've had a read see what they still may have to say about how you care for your son :hug:

Thanks all for your words about my niece/sister. The times I spend one on one with her are always lovely, I might try and get a bit more one on one time. My nephew really looks up to DH and will ride his (non-motorised) scooter down to spend time with him so I might tell him to bring his sister next time he does.
Well, my weekend plans went to hell! Millie woke up yesterday with horribly gunky eyes and a pretty foul temper (not improved by us putting drops in her eyes!) so I couldn't risk my preggie friend ending up with conjunctivitis, so lunch plans went out the window. Then I had a text from one of the friends I was supposed to go to yum cha with saying, "Is everyone still okay for yum cha today?"... erm, given that the plan was for Sunday, no! Calendar mix up... BUT DH took me for yum cha today and I had lots of unexpected sewing time, so that was cool :) I made some suck pads for the ergo - a cute animal print pair and a snazzy chocolate/turquoise pair. Millie tested them out today, they have passed the bubby chew test :)
I'm hoping it's just spring/hayfever, but I'm soooo itchy. ARGH!!!!

Pooing - Nellie was doing that for a while and nothing helped - dietary changes (not much, considering her favourite foods were lentils and cauliflower) more frequent breast offerings, and even a month on Coloxyl didn't help. What fixed it was cutting a night feed. Or two. Happened here when we moved madam into her own room, and then the poo probs fixed themselves. Have you tried some extra probiotics?
Things are good here. Sickkness has cleared, so just enjoying some sunshine before WW44 is upon us.
MADB - Eden sometimes screams when he poos, but their the ones that are quite loose. He doesn't scream when he does solid ones. I guess, for him, it's just an uncomfortable feeling and he doesn't like it. I tend to feel that he's not in pain as such. I don't know if that sounds weird, but I know what I mean lol. Does she scream every time she poos? Or only sometimes? I certainly wouldn't worry about her not pooing but if it means pain when she does then it's hard hey. The poor lil thing. I hope it passes quickly. Hope you get a little meet up in Melbourne, that'd be nice.
EJ - How was your weekend without DH? Did you do much sewing? I have only just received a sewing maching. I can't wait to make little singlets & stuff for the boys. I need to learn to sew first lol
PP - It's a very hard situation with your sister. Gees, you couldn't dare say anything could you. Not sure who suggested it but if you could talk to your mum maybe that would help

Thanks for the hugs guys. I love remembering my gorgeous little nephew but it is hard, i do wish he was running around having a great time with my kids. And i also wish they were old enough to remember him. Aidan was only 21 months when he passed away and sadly has no memory of him, Charlie was in my tummy. We have photos of him in their rooms and around the house but it's not the same obviously. I tried explaining it to Aidan a little on Saturday as he's really been into dinosaurs lately and loves talking about them being extinct and not alive anymore. I tried to explain the two somewhat similarly for him, it didn't really sink in but it's a start. We let some balloons go up into heaven also, it's always nice to do something to remeber him by.
Well my weekend was busy busy and no sewing what-so-ever was even attempted. I find i spend my day going around the house with unfinished, folding, hanging, cleaning, tidying going on because i keep getting called away from it. I keep thinking to myself i'll get everything done and sit down for a little bit. But it takes all day to get everything done and then it's time for the bath/bedtime routine to begin.
The boys have been so good but yesterday i found myself just wanting to scream in frustration at how demanding they can be. It's not their fault and i'm not really complaining in anyway, it's just so hard. Aidan has been great but wants my input and i have to acknowledge everything he's doing, it's constantly... look at this mum... look at this train it's going to crash... mum the trains breaks don't work... mum look this truck is making a delivery... And i have to play along with it with him. I love it but my gosh it can be hard to keep up with.
But yay for you getting some sewing in PP!!! And i hope Millie's eye clears up quickly. I've heard of a few cases of the sticky eye so maybe it's going around at the moment!!??
Audax i'm a little jealous of your photos with DD in sun hats and tshirts, i want some sun here!!

Georgi enjoy the sewing machine. Have a look on Made it dot com and i'm sure you'll get some inspiration there, i look and dream of being able to do what others have been able to do. I know i can do some of it and will one day :) I'm sure you could too :)
Well better go and get into tidying up, Harper is sleeping and hopefully today she'll make up for yesterday. SHe was great but went back to having 3 x 40 min sleeps. I think it was from Fri & Sat being out and not in her own bed. But she made up for it last night she slept 11pm-6am!!!!! :dance: DH got home last nigth and Harper woke up not long after, it was great to see how much he missed us :)

AFU: well i think we are having teething issues......
last 24 hrs summah has had runnier poo than usual, combined with a runny nose, drool, being a bit cranky, chewing her fingers, being slightly off her lumpy food and having rosy cheeks..... then this morning i wake up to our first poo explosion, OMG that was fun to deal with! :lol:
her poor little butt and bits are red raw :( im using amolin but im going to get the moogoo msm cream to try after being recommended it.... when i wipe her she cried and tries to push my hand away, so we will be going nude this afternoon....
other than that we are cruising along as usual;)
That sore bott sounds terrible Crumpet :( Those pooey botts don't even have to be on the skin for a minute before they cause some discomfort. Teeth are terrible :shakehead: Hope it eases up really quick xo
aw, poor botty. sometimes they just have nasty poos when they're sick too.
DD the same with poos - can't leave her in a dirty nappy or it's BAD.
She's been better with her poos last couple of days. :dunno: maybe just the slight change in diet? Someone else today suggested probiotics, so will see if I can get some.
She moved. Slid along on her bottom :lol: Wonder if this means she'll be a bum shuffler.
It's been sunny and warm of late. No doubt we're expecting a heatwave.... Seriously thinking we need to relocate. Maybe tasmania...?
Have fun with your sewing machine Georgi! Mine's been gathering dust for a while now. Still have a big bag of nappy-making material.... some day i'll get on to it. A friend had a baby recently and I was going to make him a couple of nappies. Have cut the material out.... but that's as far as I've gotten.
Her 2nd top tooth is still bulging. bloody thing better come through soon. She was a bit better last night. Think I might have gotten more than 30 minutes sleep at once :lol: Must laugh. Or will go insane.
Was talking to someone today with 2 kids roughly the same age as mine. It's amazing how our boys have had such similar reactions to having a little sibling - all the same regressions and acting out. Bit reassuring I guess. Luckily DS has been going through a fairly self-sufficient phase of late. Still very demanding at times, but also happy to play alone for periods of time. Which gives me a chance to do things. Especially if DD is happy to sit nearby and watch him. She really adores him.

CRUMPET - Red butts are nasty hey. Eden gets them a fair bit. Which is my fault for feeding him kiwi fruit & raw capsicum etc. I either use paw paw ointment or bepantham (SP?)

Well, where do I start... Melbourne was great. It was weird meeting people for the first time but feeling like we've been friends forever. Eden was well behaved but seemed to hate the car ride on every outing we took. He is normally fine in the car but we don't do many trips over 45mins and we did a few 1 hour trips. But in all, it was great.
I'm still quite sick. Just lazed around on the couch yesterday as I felt terrible. Had a small bout of mastitis. A low temp & very sore right boob. It's feeling better today but I'll still try to keep it empty. No rest today though as Byron is at Kindy so Tuesday's is cleaning day. I have so much housework to catch up on since the nearly Brady Bunch left.
Having 5 kids for 10days was full on. By the end it was ok as we had a good routine going. DH was home the whole time too so I never did it on my own. It was hard being sick though. I'd say it'll take me a good week to get the house back in order & back to feeling normal again.

Sorry I've been missing a bit. Been SOOO flat out with wedding prep (only a few days now!)
Got the final meeting with the celebrant today, to sign a final peice of paperwork. And to pick up the last of the candles, get haircut, and all that stuff.
Hannah's got 2 top teeth (sick of the grinding already, she just does it alot. I get frustrated because she's only eating porridge, there's no chewing required!) and another one is coming soon. We had a few bad days of not sleeping, but it's all good now. She's taken to blowing raspberries when you stick food in her mouth, it makes one hell of a mess and is incredibly frustrating. Of course, she thinks it's hilarious.
She's sitting like a champion, it's awesome to just plonk her and the floor and know that she can't go anywhere. She just sits there and plays with her toys.
She can get up onto her knees, which is scary to look at. She looks WAY too tiny to be trying to crawl. She's only about 6.5kg.
That's about all that's happening with us. I'll be sure to post some wedding pictures as soon as I can. Wedding is on Sunday afternoon, so it may be Sunday or Monday.
Getting pretty nervous, been having shocking nightmares. DP says I was wimpering most of the night last night. My sister has taken all the photo's of the flowers, rings and all that just so we don't have to worry about it on Sunday.
We've talked about having another baby, but after the m/c a while ago we're going to put it off for a few months, rather than the honeymoon baby we were planning.
I was so friggin clucky last night. I was going through and sorting all Hannah's clothes and dividing up the 0000, 00000 and premmie clothes. Looking at these mega-tiny 00000 clothes and remembering how massive they were on her. She's nearly into a 00 now, but her hips are still tiny, so she still needs to 000 pants. Which are too short because she's got such long legs.
Anyway, better go get ready to go to town to see the celebrant.

Georgi, Mum has issues with my sister's relationship with her kids in any case so I don't think it would help speaking to her... and just quietly I think Mum has issues with my parenting too :wall: so it's not a can of worms I'm prepared to bust open... sigh... my husband's enormous family is so much less complicated and angst-ridden than my tiny one!! Sorry to hear you got mastitis again, I hope it has cleared up? Enjoy the sewing machine!

I had a really full-on day at work today. Felt like everything was just being thrown at me at once and had to reeeeeally breathe deep to keep it together. I seem to go one week on, one week off in terms of how I cope. On the bright side it's week 9, so only this week and next before holidays.

Hope you're resting up and feeling better Georgi! I'm glad you had a good time on your little weekend away. It is strange meeting people like that, isn't it? It's like you're looking at a stranger you already know heaps about.
M actually slept last night! I'm not sure, as I didn't check the time or anything, but she must have slept at least 4-5 hours at the start of the night. Then another stretch, then a few wakeups close together in the early hours till she was up at 7, but all in all a really good night for her! Unfortunately she never lets me know in advance, so I didn't get to bed till 10pm (which is late for me!) and I 'wasted' half the sleeping time.
Have spent more money on book depository getting more richard scarry books for DS. He loves them so much! Hopeing some new ones will keep him occupied on the plane. I think I"ll make DH in charge of actually reading them though.
