Hi ladies, ive been looking for this thread and only just found it yah!I know some of you from our belly buddies thread! My baby girl summer was born on the 5th of feb at 8pm weighing 5lb5 and 45 cms.The first 2 weeks were quite good but shes fallen into a bad pattern of crying when shes tired like she will cry and cry but refuse to fall asleep where as before she used to just sleep after a feed, now if shes been awake for a bit she will just cry, only way to get her off seems to be in our arms at the moment when she has these times, other than that things are good,i had a few concerns about breast feeding as i was worried she wasnt getting enough and was hungry and thats why she was crying but it seems to be weve worked out what the problem is so thats good.

Andjxx-Hi,I might have to try the co sleeping thing,we arent getting much sleep at night at all,she wakes up every 3 hours sometimes less.I feel as you do,i feel a bit bored being home and sometimes even lonely, maybe its just hormones but its a big difference i guess from work.

Blip-I hear you!Im so over not knowing who to listen too!Ive been told the same, wake her for feeds,no shes tired let her sleep bla bla,i think i have to work it out for myself,i give up otherwise!!Yes mine is doing the feeds for 40mins then awake but lately its then cry time then sleep but 3 hours if we lucky.I cant sleep really during the day.

Melaniekate-ive had those concerns too and everyone i spoke too(except 2 ladies i know old school who told me to stick her on formula)said to stick with it and your breasts will make enough milk,my sister told me sometimes you have lower milk in the day so bubs cluster feeds but later on during night etc builds up again,im not sure if any is right or true but i know how you feel, ive actually had formula and a bottle ready to go for the last 3 days worried she isnt getting enough off me,i just havent done it yet.Mines also wont suckle properly at times and like thrashes around and pulls herself off then looks for it again, its like shes fighting it but wants it,then i think is she not getting enough or is it the opposite and its coming too fast or is it something else??Sure wish they could tell us!Hang in there with me!The other night she took soooo long to settle i was just in tears all night.its gotta get better!

well i finally got her to sleep and am thinking should i try sleep also or finish brekky or clean up or get out of my nighty???sigh!Sorry girls its been a bad 2 nights,we'll get there!

    i Can't do it anymore!!!

Lachlan just won't settle anymore! He was always crying and nothing could settle him... not even mummy's milk! So he is on formula but I am also expressing as much as I can which isn't much!

    what should I do?

Wow - I used to be on BB all the time. Having a baby certainly puts a stop to that (not that I mind) .

Welcome to the new mumma's joining our group. Andjxx - your bub Harris and mine share their birthdays. And welcome (again) 1pj - good to see you about. Glad you and your little girl are doing well.
MelanieKate: You're doing everything you can for you little guy.

I have a spare moment while Oliver is sleeping, so I can update on how I'm doing.
Oliver is good most of the day, but of an evening/night he gets really fussy and wants to feed continuously and doesn't want to sleep. Then about midnight he'll go down for a sleep. I've asked the child health nurse about it, and she says it's actually quite common. I'm hoping it settles down soon - it's very tiring. We've had a few long night sleeps, but more recently he's waking every 3 hours in the night for a feed.
Feeding is going well - I'm still using a nipple shield due to my silly flat nipples. I'm trying (slowly) to stop using them. I've been using the shield to begin with until the nipple is drawn out, then take it off. Sometimes it works well, other times it doesn't (usually at night when he's really fussy). I'm assuming Oliver is getting plenty though - he still has heaps of wet and dirty nappies, and he's put on 220g in the past week. Definitely a growing lad - he doesn't look like he's drowning in his 0000 clothes now!
Oh, and we've had a few pea green nappies. I was worried about it at first, but from reading and asking the child health nurse, it seems it's pretty normal.

I think I'm coping okay with motherhood so far. Better than I thought I would actually. Oliver is a really good baby which helps a lot. The hardest thing for me is feeding in public - I haven't done it yet, we've managed to avoid it, but I'm nervous about it, cause with my huge boobs there's absolutely no modest way of doing things. I wish it didn't bother me so much.

    How is everyone else doing?

    'ello lovely ladies!
Pj- glad to see your doing good!

MelanieKate- at least your trying still! you can do it! i guess i'll sound like a nutter but..relax. take it easy and just let it happen. milk production is as much mental as is it physical! have you been into the breast feeding help and support part of the forum? that may help (its helped me the last 48hrs...)

Sterla - aww, im sure you'll be fine. i used the parentals room at the shops the other day...i think useing that will help build up confidsance. (even though its behind a curton..) i know i'm overly confadent with it after darrens stint in SCN - having several MW grabbing at by boobs trying to get him attached kinda takes the sting out of having 'em floped out! im glad to see oli's growing!

anthiea - Hello! glad to see your still around!

AFM: darren lost 10gs. my stupid MCHN made me feel like crud beucase of it. not to mention she made me freak out about the whole 'hydrated' caper over the weekend. she buggs me as i tried to point out i felt darren had grown longer (hes not a been pole...) and i tried to find out if the fact he is a strong little vegimite would have some kind of affecton waight gain. but she brushed it off as "thats not really applicable" for both but i got my own back X2! she told me if he didnt put on waight (im going to a b/f clinic thursday..) that we'd have to put him on formular. which made me cry...whilest darren was feeding and she goes "oh we better just take him off..." and i snaped at her and told her not to tuch him. she tried again and i said "JUST LEAVE HIM hes fine" which made her pull her head in. then when we talked about settleing him she told me to swaddle him, roll him on his side and stand at his back and pat it so he's settled and i turned around and said "thats just crule! i understand not looking at him...but not allowing him to see me? THATS WRONG. and far, far too much like the toby king methord!" she told me it was NOTHING like it. when i said "not much differance in the cold comfort of a blank wall or a swaddle is there?" but im feeling much better today. i feed him if he looks side ways at me. im waking him for feeds every 2.5 hrs (cus it takes half an hour to settle him) and he seems better for it! but he had his 'awake' time from 2:20pm untill 5 pm with three feeds in there (he seemed hugry and i wasnt going to make him wait!)
Ooo speaking of darren and sleeping...hes awake...im thinking wet nappy and dads settleing skills! hehe. chris will get better im sure
