Hi Catherine. I hope you're able to sort bub's reflux out soon! Glad to hear she's been a very clever girl too, with getting up there on all fours!
Kym, I'm sorry, but I can't help you there! (So that's not a dumb question!).
This is just a quicky because Bella's stirring. Today was our first ever proper SOLID poo!!! Bella pulled the funniest face which then turned red. I think it scared her because she started to cry a little bit, poor little thing. The formula she's been on has kept it pretty runny, so now that she's having more solids, they're more solid.
She's also rolled from front to back, so that's both ways now. She was just sleeping on her side too, so now I've got to keep a closer eye on her, now that she can get over.
Anyway, now that I've grossed you all out, I've got to go. Have a great day everyone!
catherine... it is VERY important in this thread to get INCREDIBLY excited if you post first in the new thread!!!!! usually Kirsten and I celebrate it with a WOOOO HOOOO!!!!!
It sucks that elouise's reflux has come back! do they know what causes it??
kym .... HELLLLLOOOOOOOO i know exactly what you mean about the googling thing!!! I was mighty annoyed when I realised stuff i posted in bellybelly could be googled... I googled the boys name when we were deciding and found all my bellybelly posts about the name..!!! grrrrrrr but Jemima has a website and I dont mind who reads what, i am an open person and it would serve me right for bit*ching if i got caught... (i am currently trying to kerb the gossip a little as all my friends are becoming friends - they used to be all random to each other now they ALL have babies and have met.... grrr to that too!)
Lisa ...... did you get my email from ebay about the feeding bowls?? were they your piece of cake?? if you like them i also just found some pretty awesome onesies on ebay in america that look pretty cool too is harrison on the move yet??? it looked like he was VERY close on his website.... and what is with all that hair????? Pubert, Harrison, Bella PLEASE give some of your hair to Jemima!!!
talking about hair..... Jemima doesnt need any as I have found she looks ADORABLE in my old baby bonnet. i will upload the photo now!!!!!
mothers group was at my place today but thankfully going to be at a park next week that will be nice - jemima can wear her bonnet...
michelle - you know you can ALWAYS talk about poo here without us being grossed out..... being excited about bodily functions is what being a mum is all about.
gotta go post at least one bonnet photo
have a good ekka holiday to those who are in brissy and get one! everyone else have a good wednesday
Just a quick one from me . Erin has got her first tooth and the one next it to it is coming through as well. Glad to know all teh grizzling this week has been for a good reason.
Went to CHN today and she is 7.1kg and 66cm.
Hi all,
Catherine, I am thinking of you, I'd be stressed too. Though I can't provide much 1st hand advice, my best mate has had now had 2 bubs, both with bad reflux. The first had the silent (therefore screaming) type and Zantac worked well for her. The 2nd bub, only 9wks old now, has had it way worse and after Zantac did virtually nothing, he is now on Losec and thickened milk (she thickens both her breastmilk and formula). It's a shame the homeopathic preps haven't worked... maybe they can be made "stronger" if you are really anti-meds? Obviously, I've missed a lot of your woes with Elouise, but do you thicken her milk? I also know someone else who's little one had such bad reflux that they had to start solids early just to get some calories into her and that seemed to help the reflux settle. Have you started solids?
Monkey has been doing some pretty awesome poos lately too - I tried some spinach a few days ago - (she didn't like it) and then the next day it all came out and the pieces of green that came out looked exactly the same size as when they went in!!
Actually, I have some questions for you all about food, but don't have time right now.... will bother you soon with them.
Kel, we are very jealous.... we've had lots of grizzling, but nothing to show for it yet!
I have no idea how long Monkey is now (not particularly tall is my guess!), but she is 8.1kg!
And to all those whose babies don't have much hair, don't be too upset - Monkey has weird hair that I constantly try to cover up!! It's very fine, dark, and whats left around the front, ears and in a mullet at the back is growing VERY long and curly... however, there are several very thin and bald patches around the crown - not a good look and everyone says she looks a bit like a monk!
Well, serves me right for being mean... she's just woken up not a happy camper, must run.... Kym
Sorry, I actually meant to direct teeth envy toward Kristy!
Sorry guys, I will try to get to remember all your's and bubs names soon!
Lots of K names and I haven't helped have I!
Monkey and I are trying to burn some time........ she's too tired to play, not ready to feed, can't sing songs (my usual fallback) 'cos I've lost my voice, can't give her a bath because our hot water system died today (AAAAGGH!). I'll just have to get creative.... could be time for a dance!
Well... Harrison is officially crawling... he crawled from one side of our living room to the other tonight - to get his hands on the present we bought for our nephew Taj's 1st birthday!!!
OMG!!! I am sooooo excited!!! No teeth for him as yet... gawd, I can't wait until they finally do come through though.
Kell - Yep, I saw the bowls, they are gorgeous!!! We actually went to buy a gorgeous little punk onesie, but our ebay account has been suspended (check out the boo hoo room for more info... I am too mad to post about it again... grrr!!). I might get my mum to buy it for me through her one... it is a black onesie, with a tie printed on it... it looks awesome!!!
Anyway... I will do personals asap.
Ohh... I am soooooo excited too... I started my Cohens on Friday, and I have lost 4.3kgs already!!! OMG!!! I am over the moon!!! Yay for me!!! lol
yes indeedy yeah for you lisa!! i am so so jealous!!! is the cohen's diet one of the bloodtype ones? one of the medical ones? i still pretend that i am going to take a week off from jemima lose 4kgs (thats what i lost first week last time on silly diet) and then come back and continue life.... ho hum i need my head removed from the clouds.
i think i am going to go for a girly bowl set for jemima, the one i loved the bats ..... well were dead..... their eyes were crosses.... not really what i should be showing my little girl when she gets to the bottm of the bowl..... SO i found a Disney princess one and they are heart shaped OR a retro daisy flower one from the USA ho hum to that too.....
the punk onesie sounds like the ones i found some of them had fake tattoos on them for the bubs... like the two sparrows on the back and heaps of i love mum/dad and woodstock the bird from snoopy, i liked that one and cat in the hat... classic cult stuff
i am addicted to ebay.... SO gotta get off computer and be more housewifey....
Kym, I am so glad Jemima has teeth, I know exactly how you guys feel.... the week before Jemima got her first tooth I think I seriously thought about going back to work.... she was the worst she has ever been, any longer being that weird without a tooth showing up and I would have taken her to the doc for every test under the sun, she is at it again at the moment and i am pretty sure i can see and feel the tooth ready to come through but it is weirdly enough one of the bottom ones not the top ones like i think is "normal"
Kirsten - what order did Quinn's others come in? I have a friend who is sure her little one is getting his K9s first which will make him look like a vampire.... will have to wait and see
had the hugest fight at my parents house today, when we got there we told mum that we wanted her to do the 'jemima stuff' to get used to it so she can look after her. we told her the plan would PROBABLY be that we feed her and then go to the movies and leave bottle with maybe formula or EBM for her in case of emergency.... so then we went for a walk with jemima and when we got home my aunty was there... it was the time i would normally give jemima FOOD so i asked mum (kinda told her i guess) if she wanted to do it.... she sat down to do it but couldnt handle the pressure of 1. Aunty looking at slides with Dad, 2. roast in the oven and 3. apparently me sitting there giving orders......
huge miscommunications everywhere and misunderstandings.... apparently if i am there i have to do it all and if i am not there she would figure out what is wrong etc....... but i would prefer to see that jemima is comfortable with mum before leaving her but if mum wont do it when i am around that really doesnt work.....
ho hum
tomorrow we go to baby doc for 6 month check, really interested to see if he measures her the same as clinic nurse did Monday............ on Monday she was 7.6kg and 70.2cm
el has an appointment with the paed tomorrow. i think the homeopathic meds are as strong as they can be, as she's 6 months old. she's been on solids since 4 months but doesn't eat much. about a jar a day average. vomits are more common at night but do occur any time. she's on karicare AR. ff from 3 wks old, AR for last 3-4 weeks. i was just trying to avoid strong meds if i could but if it will help, i'll do it.
first night unwrapped, slept all night. night before, she woke heaps so i took the wrap off as she got out of it. she had cold hands. last night in hand covered sleeping bag. she's grown out of it. will use the winter suit and matching sleeveless bag.
Kell... we thought that Harrison was going to get his canines through first... as they were most definitely more able to be felt than the others... the ECHN told us that it was most likely his teeth just moving around... I could feel his canines for about a month, now, I can hardly feel them at all... and still no teeth. The daughter of someone I once knew got her canines through first... she had flaming red hair and vampire teeth... it looked strange to me as I was used to my kids who got their bottom teeth through first.
Cath - Harry has reflux... it drives me bonkers!! We tried him on s26AR and he refuses it... the reflux doesn't bother him much... it is more annoying to me... because as soon as I have him dressed to go out, he spits up all over himself, and sometimes all over me too!!!
I hope you get some answers at El's appt
ok
this is weird! Jemima is having a feed. And I am not there.
omigosh
I was really brave tonight and expressed a feed for her. I am going to the hairdresser on saturday and that is going to be the first time that i leave her....... funny coz the hairdresser i go to is one i can take jemima no problems at all (it is just a small salon) so for us to pick that as the first thing is funny.
but i borrowed my neighbours manual breast pump and expressed what i hope is enough for a feed for jemima, doesnt take as long as i thought it would
was going to save it for saturday but then thought should make sure benji has no problems feeding her.....
going to sneak a photo of his first feeding session
omigosh -- now i am going to cry that was the most beautiful thing! she was looking right at him and sharing such a special moment.... but i feel totally weird about it! a good weird though
ok site updated. daddy feeding jemima is there. daddy really enjoyed it and is glad we waited as long as we did though. hope she is just as good for grandma. i only want to leave her if she feels totally at ease with the situation..... not kinda at ease TOTALLY at ease.....
went to baby doc again... she LOVES that guy, she laughed and smiled and was just wonderful, so she got an A+ for personality and behaviour too! her head has shrunk 5cm since Monday at the clinic - that so funny! - but she is still 70cm length and 7.6kg weight so she is above average height - we knew that - and spot on for weight and now that she lost weight on her head spot on there too..... gave us a form to get her hearing tested if i am worried about it........... i was 2 weeks ago.............. but now i am not........... just annoyed that she has selective hearing when it comes to me! (michele she can use her hands to play piano)
Hello everyone...
i keep forgetting that these things can get new threads and when i don't get reminder emails i forget!!
Quinn got bottom 2 middle teeth then left side bottom tooth, then top right side middle tooth. there is another one coming but i'm not sure if its the other bottom or other top tooth.
Vampire teeth would be weird/cute on a baby.
Last weight in Quinn was 9.055kgs and 73.5 cms....he's tall and very very handsome!
Wow, you girlies chatted while I was away! Can't remember everything but will say hi to Kym and Monkey! Good to know Liebs isn't the only baby with a protected name LOL.
Cate, I hope the reflux gets sorted very, very soon for you. Do solids help any, or is Elouise not on them yet?
Kel, wow, you're brave leaving Jemima! Liebs has some seperation anxiety atm so will only go for cuddles for about a minute, so I can't leave him at all. Ah well, I don't want to!
Liebling loves piano playing too. He tries to copy me with tunes, but it doesn't work out so well. Never mind, he'll be playing Frère Jacques soon enough! He has managed the first two notes before.
Kirsten, thanks for the subscription reminder.
Wow, our babies are big! Liebs is about 9kg now (on bathroom scales) and he's really fitting his 72cm clothes, will have to measure him again soon. He was 69cm recently, but may well have grown again. Then again, he is a hungry boy so the amount he has been eating could have nowt to do with it.
On holiday I got him bathing in the big bath and sleeping in a cot, so will keep that up at home if I can. Am dreading tonight, he was up every few hours at my parents' home (they weren't there, we were house-sitting) but I was getting him down without feeding him. Hoping he gets the hint for tonight!
Second tooth will be appearing soon, I hope, it's about ready to break out!
Oh yes, and poo... DS is NEVER eating meat while I change nappies! I let him have some from a jar and never again! It was well rank. But he does fairly solid ones now, which is quite nice from the "flush them down the loo and not have really soiled nappies" PoV.
Hey
Hey Kirsten, Jemima's bottom left next to middle tooth is coming through at the moment, do babies look weird with 3 teeth down the bottom??
You must have missed my question ages ago about Quinn and his marakas, does he bash himself in the head with them, or only at first and now he doesnt do it?
today very soon i am leaving jemima and going to hairdresser just to see if it will work so that eventually benji and i can go to the movies or dinner or something, it wont be that much of a break if we do go out coz i know i will be worrying about her, ALL my other friends have left their babies HEAPS as they are either FF or SIL is champion expresser and works one day a week but I think baby stays home with her daddy so that is different...
i have a bottle and a half expressed for jemima (cant be bothered doing the rest of bottle number two) and he knows where the formula sachets are and my neighbour looks like she is home so he can always run over there if he gets in any trouble, but he is so hands on with her he will be fine.....
maybe i'll do something drastic to my hair.... why not.... (probably wont - cant be bothered deciding)
jemima and her boyfriend shared their 6month birthday yesterday (cake i made and them both on the site) and jemima got a present some cool tops but I have lost them!!! i dont know where i put them - does anyone else have EXTREME case of baby brain????
Kel: Yes Quinn looks funny with 3 bottom teeth and the one top one!
He used to bash himself with the maracas but it didn't really bother him when he did. He isn't allowed to play with them anymore though becuase with the teeth he bites the paint off and eats it, and of course I'm not so happy with that.
i had to have a biopsy on a lump in my breast on Tuesday and that was not fun!! BUt results are back and it's all fine. it's a lactating adenoma! Weirdest thing was when I fed Quinn afterwards the anaesthetic hadn't worn off properly and I couldn't feel anything - it was a very strange feeling!
