Hi guys, just a quick one as the little man is starting to let me know it's almost time for another feed.

Me-Lisa, I had discharge for 5.5wks with Ben and nearly all of that time it was at least light pink. I've only just stopped getting bright red blood now and Jared is over three weeks old, so I'm guessing it will be the same this time around. I find that if I've been out and about I tend to bleed more.

Breastfeeding is going really well at last! We're attaching properly on both nipples now which makes it so much easier. I ended up expressing and feeding Jared with a bottle for a few feeds on my left side because it was just too painful. The little bugger seems to feed so much - I was expressing 100mls, feeding him that and then he was having the other side! We thought Ben was a pig, but this little one is even worse! He's already in 000s too!

Okay, gotta run, he's starving again If only I could get the boys to stop tag-teaming their sleeps, we would be so happy and well-rested!!!

Gill - I have this at times and over the past two days as well (however more because Caleb has had a bit of gastro this time) I went and bought a baby bjorn carrier and its wonderful, it allows him to fall asleep on me and i can still do other things (like eat lunch!!!!) I was against it at first because i didnt like the idea of him not sleeping in bed but at this young stage its harmless, i think they just have their clingy days where they just want to be with mum/dad.
Like i said the only thing i have found to work is the carrier for me and when hes really asleep i can either just leave him there and continue on or put him down to sleep in his bed.
    Good luck hun!

Well as for me, like i said we have had a bit of gastro and its made him not sleep well, we have elevated the top part of his bed so that hes not lying completely flat (to help with the wind) and given him some gripe water. Last night we decided to go for a long drive around 9pm and it put him to sleep so well that he slept for 5 hours!!!! it was wonderful. I havent had time to do anything lately because his sleeping is out the window but his wind seems to be being "released" so the gripe water must be working (although he absolutely hates the taste of it and gags and spits it back up when we give it to him)

Well, must go, Master Caleb is calling!

Gill, I had a night like that with Jared and the only thing that really calmed him down was being on the breast. I had him on there from 4pm until midnight, with only a quick break to have dinner and trying several times to take him off, which ended in screaming Thankfully it seemed to only be a once-off as we haven't had a repeat performance. I hope Ella settles for you soon.

I am so proud of myself - I got myself and both boys dressed and fed and out the door to be at the hospital for a 9:30 appointment this morning Even a couple of the midwives said that it was quite and achievement Jared had to have a third heel-***** test. He has elevated results for Maple Syrup Urine Disorder. Now we have to wait another 10 days for the results. I'm trying not to worry in the meantime, but it's hard!

gill- I am also having the same difficulty. Emily sometimes falls asleep after a feed but at other times like last night and this morning she is awake and crying on and off until the next feed. Sometimes it is just that she wants to be cuddled to sleep but other times she seems to not be able to be settled. It is very frustrating as I wish I knew what she wanted. Last night I think she had wind as she was upset and squirming heaps and nothing seemed to work. I think I have heard that if I eat too much dairy it can make them upset in the tummy. I had a big banana smoothie which might have been the problem.

Disgirl: Well done on getting everyone organised and to an appointment. I went to the shops yesterday and it took so long by the time she was fed and I had a shower but when we got there she was great. I think she likes to sleep in the pram.

Josephine: A friend lent her her baby bjorn and it is great. It does allow us to be able to do simple things like eat and keep them settled. I have heard that they are too young at this stage to pick up bad habits of needing to be cuddled to sleep so I am glad of that as it is really nice to be able to cuddle them until they are sleeping.

I better eat some lunch while she is asleep. How quick the day goes...

    Hi ladies,

thanks for the feedback and im feeling better now that i know im not alone! - Ella settled better last night but was up again at 3am and stayed awake and niggly until i fed her again at 5.30am then she fell asleep on the boob and let me actually put her down in her bassinette (a rare achievement!) and slept til 8.30am.

I know it takes time to get them into a routine im just telling myself that the first 6-10 weeks are the hardest and they are still learning (like we are) and adjusting to life "on the outside"!

Jo - im tossing up between the Baby Bjorn carrier and the hug-a-bub as i think this will really help her as she loves being close to either me or DH - thanks for letting me know that so far the BB is working great guns for Caleb!

    Morning Ladies,

has anyone heard of or know anyone that has tried the routines from the book "save our sleep" by Tizzie Hall? Im trying Caleb out on it today, he sleeps really well at night so thats not a problem but his daytime sleeping is pretty whack. I know routines shouldnt be a big priority but i at least want to give it a try, if it doesnt work im not gonna stress and hold him to it.
