    Hi all,

Gee, 5 days away and there are heaps of posts to read! Glad to hear about the 3am calls others are having - we have had this the last couple of nights as well. Usually it is 4 or 5 am. Hmmmmm.

Maybe that is why I have been feeling down and out. Felt better reading everyone's posts and that others feel this way too at times. It's just that thing of feeling that you have no time for yourself, like a few of you were saying. But I am getting a haircut on Wednesday!!! My niece is here and looking after Clarrie. First haircut in 7 months. I've been chopping my fringe off myself.

Had a good visit from my mum and sister and now my niece is here for the week.

Clarrie is having solids on and off, but no set times that's for sure. Just testing it all out. He doesn't seem to like carrot though.

Well, short post, but it took so long to read everyone's posts!!! Now I 'm caught up. Will call in again soon.

    Julie xx

ooh yes away from the cold! bubs can just be in a nappy or au naturale! lots of strawberry frappes, massages (from resort masseurs)

*sigh* back to reality. Tired. Cold.

Re haircut: I got a severe one done, thought it would make me feel better about myself but it is such a shocker (and so short) that I have no choice but to let it grow out. At least now I'm pg my hair should stop falling out

I totally want to go on one of those resort holidays.... or one where you have your own island and your own beach and maybe a private chef to cook delicious food so that when you come back from the beach there is this amazing seafood feast waiting for you!

    that would be so lovely!!

Hey Sal - how are you feeling? you didn't have any morning sickness with Miles did you? are you getting anything now?
how short is your hair cut? I've been toying with the idea of going short too.... but I can't decide....

then again finding time to go to the hairdresser is a whole other thing....

    oh well.

COUNT ME IN ON THE HOLIDAY!!!

I'm sick of the cold and I'm sick of the sun going down early and I'm sick of freezing body parts that are not meant to be cold and I'm sick of dressing Brodie like an Eskimo which i know he hates and the part the sickens me the most is yet to come and that will be my ELECTRICITY BILL - I'm holding onto my hairdo for that one....too scared to think how much it will be - so COUNT ME IN FOR FIJI OR HAWAII

do you get the feeling i hate winter?? because I DO - i told Brodie the other day the best part about winter is when it's over - i stand by my statement - come on SPRING!!!

anyway i have booked my MIL to look after BJ for me on Friday and I'm having a day to myself - first time since having him - I'm getting myself pampered - thank goodness for credit cards but I'll deal with the bill next month - i'm sick of looking like an old woman with crazy hair and bushy eyebrows - it's bad enough to look like ****e when you haven't had a chance to shower but it's even worse when you still look YUK after you've showered and blow-dried

Ok enough about me and my bad winter mood

Good to see all of you are well and that I'm not alone with the 3am frenzy- I think I'm just use to it now...amazing how you just adjust.

BJ is on the solids but so far only apple, sweet potato, pumpkin, mashed corn and normal potato - thinking about introducing something green this week - maybe some mashed zuchini or mashed avocado with the above mentioned stuff - we'll see how we go...

    have a great day all

    ciao

Ah Laura you never fail to mention some foodstuff that gets me drooling! Seafood buffet....mmmmmm. 'Cos I was taken by surprise, falling pg so quickly, I didn't have my full fix of sushi and smoked salmon and now I can't have any for aaaggges

Me, nope no m/s yet (but I am only 5.5wks so early days yet). I didn't get any with Miles so am not expecting any. Actually am hoping for none, because I don't know how I'll manage to run to barf and carry Miles at the same time

My hair is quite short, I had it long, about as long as yours Laura (my fringe isn't so short though) then after the birth I felt like a change and got talked into having layers put in. Well my hair is fine and thick and straight and blerk and layers are ALWAYS a disaster but I get so sick of status quo that I let a hairdresser talk me into something different. Anyway, the first layers were awful, so I went for a second cut, and now my hair is really short - I can't put it in a pony tail and with it tucked behind my ears it just looks like a boyish short cut. Blerk.

Di, I hear you on looking awful AFTER the shower and makeup (well, spack fillering over the worst bits) and hair drying. I'm getting used to it. Oh and also the number of grey hairs appearing. I wish shaved heads would come into fashion for women

Miles ate a whole jar of the organic pumpkin and sweetcorn mash. Amazing! And I fed him after his bottle, too. I think he's ready for solids now!

    Hello ladies,

PLEASE CAN I COME ON THE HOLIDAY!!

That is something DH and I will save for when we come back from o/s this year. We are going to plan for a week long just us holiday. Somewhere with clear blue water, white sand and plenty of ****tails and sun!!

Well we are having no real luck at the moment. Not really keen on solids and she still won't sleep. Oh well..what can you do. It will get better. It has to. As for the solid I will just have to be patient. She will eventually get hungry enough to eat them. I do wonder though how much she eats compaerd to how much she spits out while blowing bubbles during feed time lol.
Sleeping will get better. I have thought about cc but I am not sure how ready I am for that. I worry she is hungry and I am going to starve her if I cc.
    Will see what happens.

We are starting to plan for her naming day as well. I want to have it the beginning of October We have contacted a celebrant and are just waiting to hear back to see if she is available that day. Then we will have to organise the rest. I did up the invite list last night and it's just under 100! Thats with being fairly ruthless too.
So I will update you more there when I know more.

Ok better go. Want to go up the shop and get some supplies. Am going to do some baking!!!

    Have a great day.

    hi guys,

just got back from the naturopath. just went as Luxxe has a cold and is losing her voice...really I just wanted to know what kind of things they can do and offer for the more general illnesses that the GP just says "yeah and??" to.

Itwas really interesting... I'm such a convert. The naturopath is looking at ordering in or making up a homeopathy first aid kit for us. Just so that we can treat things like upset tummies, headaches, food poisoning, scratches & scrapes, trauma, shock, pain.... heaps of stuff.....
Obviously for the treament of more chronic things you still need the naturopath... but when you need to treat something quickly or in the middle of the night etc... then the first aid kit can be used.

and unlike other western medicines and even herbal remedies, you can't overdose with homeopathy.

THe ananolgy used was like tuning 2 string on a guitar to the same note. when you pluck one the other vibrates too because they share the same frequency, but the other 4 strings do nothing....
homeopathy is the same.... when you perscribe the right treatment, it cured the ailment, but if you perscribe wrong... or say a toddler gets into it and eats a whole bunch of the stuff.... nothing really happens.

I'm so amazed by homeopathy. I wish I'd found out more about it years ago.

anyway - also got some probiotics for Luxxe's tummy - to help fix the stagnant poo situation.

some rescue remedy... to use in those instances when she's irritable or upset... ie by teething. She also said that if I think Luxxe needs some, then I'll most likely need some too and it will help withthose times you feel like you're going to explode... and kids respond really quickly to it. it's either one drop under the tongue or I can rub some on her forehead or wrists.

also got a general herbal tonic to help boost her immune system. She said the bottle will last a year and just gave me instructionson how to dilute it until she's a bit older.

OH - and she gave me some hand-outs about B/F and contraception and weaning and introducing solids.

it was basically saying after 6 months (like we all know) for solids.. but it also said that another good indicator was when the baby was able to sit up on their own was a good indicator of a good time to try. I thought that was interesting....wonder why?

Ok - I'm prattling on as usual. Sorry.... I got all excited

Misty, congrats on Jelly's first tooth. Good luck with the uni results - I admire you studying with a new baby! Hard work.

Laura, I read also that a baby should sit unsupported before going on solids. That was in my favourite book by this woman who takes a yoga (yogic??) approach. I just love her as what she says always make sense. The reason she gave for the sitting is that this shows that a baby's muscles and hence the digestive system is strong enough to digest solids properly. Anyway, I've disregarded that advice a little bit as Clarrie is not really sitting unsupported (only for about 10 seconds) but oh well.... He is loving his porridge.

We've hired a vaporiser for his room as he has this barky cough. The doc. had said there was no infection but the cough is still there in the AM and PM mainly. I've been thinking about a naturopath. Will see how the varporiser thingy goes.

Big news - John has handed in his resignation at work from end of August. Then he'll work on finishing off the house, including our extension, and also looking after Clarrie when I go back to work 3 days from january. So we'll be skint. No overseas holiday, alas  You guys will just have to tell me all about it.

Are we all having the 6 month blues re. what we look like. LOL. I tell you, I look like such a dag. Even my mum made fun of my colour coordination, and that is getting bad!! Time to get my act together and stop throwing on whatever comes to hand.

Lisa, look forward to hearing about part 2 of the course.

Gotta go as tea is ready, Julie

Laura - The homeopath sounds awesome. I'd love to start going and doing those sorts of things. We get restricted by finance. And also the fact that DH doesnt believe in all of it whereas I totally do. He thinks new age stuff is crap! I try to explain it isnt new and in fact has been around alot longer than modern meds but he don't care.

Misty - Yay on Jelly's first tooth. Thats great. Hope she settles down. Wonderful that she is saying her first word. I don't think Kobi is even close to that yet but at least she is rolling and sort of sitting up. Also I was waving at her today and saying "Hiiiii Hiiii" and she responded by babbling something in baby and waving back.

Ok better go see if I can get some more vegies into her. She is so not into this whole food thing lol. She seems distracted at night by DH cos she wants to play with him. I have decided he can feed her at dinner time!

Julie - You beat me to the punch with your post hehe.
Hope the vaporiser works out for you.
I am very excited about the course. It starts tomorrow night. I think I am excited about the freedom more lol.

Misty, congrats on Jelly's toothie peg, and good luck with your uni results (you are brave, I couldn't go through with my enrolment this year )

Julie, hope the humidifier helps Clarrie's cough. Bummer about being skint. Join the club LOL. We got our electricity bill yesterday - OMG $750  I thought I was going to pass out. And we want to move to another rental place soon. Boy are we going to be in the red.

Lisa, hope the course is all you are hoping it to be. I like self-development courses too.

I've got to admit, I'm not a believer in homeopathy, but if it works, then go with it I say.

Laura, you've inspired me to see a natropath for Coco. I've always had one for me, but Im going to find one that specialises in kids. I think the first aid kit is a great idea.
Only thing about the sitting before solids, is that Coco would be waiting until at least 8 months to eat!! She is not sitting yet! Also I don't think Tilly sat until 9 months, and I know that they both needed to eat before that.
coco's been on solids since 5 months and it's totally regulated her poo situation (amazing because we had probs the whole first 6 months), she also adores her food!!
anyway, looking forward to finding a good natropath now!! xoxo

Yeah Meg, I'm not sure about that 'sitting first' rule. Miles could sit from before 5m but he was not ready for solids then.

    hey there girls

Laura I'm totally into the Natural approach to things - as a matter of fact at 17weeks I was diagnosed with Hypertension in my pregnancy - needless to say i freaked out - i wasn't keen on the Pre-eclampsia idea and also didn't want to take medication through my pregnancy to control it - anyway long story short went and saw a naturopath who put me on the straight and narrow - my blood pressure dropped and my anxieties subsided a little (let's face it I was a total mental wreck in my pregnancy ) - so it's great to see that you have found one that works so closely with childrens needs. My renal specialist at the time didn't believe me but once he saw the results he just kept telling me to take the "stuff" cause it's working....

DH - loves the idea of the natural remedies also - he has seen how it can work and what effect it has played in our life - you kow how it is when one of you is down and out the other one suffers also - and unfortunately i suffer quite badly with anxiety.

so long story short glad that you have found someone to work with yourself and Luxxe - the improvement it will make in your life will be outstanding - I'm excited for you....you've inspired me to pull out my old books and dust of some of my potions....

Misty - BIG CONGRATZ!!! on the first tooth - I have to admit I'm a little envious, I just wish that Brodie's would pop out for once and for all - no such luck - but in the mean time I can't expect other babies to not get teeth

Well we're off today to get 6month shots - not looking forward to it but I suppose it needs to be done - let's just get it over with - secretly hoping DH makes it home early - I'm praying for rain - so that he can take him or atleast comfort him or me - depends on who gets more upset

anyway gotta run - have a nice day all

    Hey everyone,

I took me ages to get in here today. My computer is running a bit slow cos we have downloaded so much stuff this month! I couldnt open the page cos it was taking like 10 minutes and was still only half open.
Oh well..will be ok next month.

Kobi was a shocker last night! Worse than ever. Every 2 hours!!! Blurgh....
I tested her though. When she woke for her first feed I took her off after about 4 or 5minutes. Just to see if she was hungry or not. I figured if she was hungry she would have woken up a bit and wanted more (she was still sucking) and if she wasnt tired she would have gone limp and fallen back to sleep. She did number 2 so I put her back to bed. I think she woke and was restless simply for comfort. I think the breast at night is a comfort thing. I know she can go quite a long time between feeds during the day cos she has done so before. So maybe I need to bite the bullet. I am still waiting on a call from the sleep clinic but I will do some research on here on some sites I found in my baby bible thing. If I don't do something soon I reckon it's going to get even worse.

Start my course tonight and I am looking forward to it. I am intrigued to see what part 2 has in store for all of us!

I rang my brother earlier today too cos he is a very handy boy and has his own business. He does fencing, landscaping and all sorts. He renovated his entire house himself (besides electrical and plumbing of course). Anyway, I wanted to see if he could give me an idea on doing our pergola. We have always had the posts there but it has no roof. Also it's in 2 sections. There is half a pergola out there and next to it is a little fernery area and its covered by a sail. The sail is really old and the pergola really needs doing up so I thought I might get rid of the sail all together and roof the whole lot. It runs along the side of the house so it's all one straight area. I wanted to see if we could get it done before Kobi's naming day. If we have it here (which we most likely will) and it rains then we don't have the room for everyone as we have a small house. Plus I have been wanting to get it done for ages so we can set up some toys out there for the kids permanantly and put our outdoor setting out there. I have been begging DH to let me do it for ages. But my brother just told me it's going to cost at least $2000. I doubt we will be getting it done now. I mean we are going on a big trip so thats why we probably can't afford it. If we werent going away we most likely would. And I don't want to sound ungrateful in regards to the trip...but I really want this pergola done! I will chat to DH but I think he will say no.
I have so many things I want to do here. Lots of them I can do myself and slowly over time such as paint and stuff. But there are a few big jobs. I mainly want the pergola area done before the naming day and I will re-mulch as well. But other stuff can be done anytime.

Ok well I should go. Organise something for dinner and get my stuff ready for tonight.

    Byeeeeeee

Well, had my haircut today. I'm sure the hairdresser thought I was loopy as I was practically dancing out the door saying "I feel like a new woman" .

Sal - $750 for the electricity bill. That is a shocker.

Jillian, hope you're feeling better. Has Imogen's growth spurt slowed down? Hope so, for your sake!

Ended up taking Clarrie to the doc today as I rang the Child & Youth Health helpline and they said I should really see the doc about his cough. Basically doc said that there is nothing wrong. Of course Clarrie never coughs while there!! Well, we'll keep on with the humidifier and see what happens but I'm going to ask around about a naturopath up here.

Okay, better go as my niece is still here and we've been playing UNO endlessly each night. Great fun!!

Oh, and hope Brodie's shots went okay, Dianna! That was good to hear about how the natural therapies helped during your pregnancy. did I ever say before that I had acupuncture at 41 weeks because I was a week "late" and the doc was talking about inductions and other yucky things. I had the acupuncture at about 10am and started labour at midnight that night. And the labour was reasonably swift. I am so thankful that I didn't end up going down the induction path... Who knows whether I would have gone into labour anyway, but I would certainly have the acupuncture again if that happened again.

    cheers, Julie
