    Hi Bindy,
What type of formula is Madeline having? Karen xx
Thanks Karen, I hope your supply gets better soon, wishing you all the best in your breastfeeding journey. Madeleine is on Nutricia Karicare Gold Plus Birth. Loves it and has strived on it from 3 weeks old. It has never made her constipated or anything but all babies are different and take to formulas differently too! Good luck, thinking of you

Vic, just wanted a change! Hope Scarlett is well.

Nik, hee hee on Amy checking a tanty...Madeleine does the same with different things now. It could be teething?? Madeleine had a couple of weeks there when she was a different baby all of a sudden, then she cut her first two bottom teeth and she was fine.

Hi Everyone I wrote a huge post but it disappeared before I could post I must of pressed something

Hi Queenmab, the meds worked well but I stopped taking them and my supply is not as full but I still get a let down...does Fenugreek work? I really have to start looking at my diet too. My Doula feels I am not eating well enough and that is affecting my supply and Francis. She said I need more protein and should be eating eggs but I am a vegetarian and the only protein I get is from rice, lentils and chickpeas. So I went and bought 3 chickens, they are only 2 weeks old and I have to have a lamp over them at night but hopefully I will be able to eat eggs (free range) in approx 6 months time. I guess that doesn't solve the immediate problem but I just can't buy eggs from the store, (ironically) I live on an abandoned chook farm and the conditions they are kept in are horrible. Unfortunately now my partner and I have to build a fox proof coop for our new pets

Thanks Bindy, I supp fed Francis on Heinz starter formula and he was great it didn't constipate him however he only needed it for a couple of days, while I was starting the donperidine now that my milk is better I have stopped supp feeding him. I chose Heinz because it had just a little more calcium in it and more copperI don't know if the copper is a good thing, I'll have to look that up. I hope my supply stays constant and fingers crossed that Francis starts to make some weight gains soon.

    Hi gals!

I'm off to get my cervial cancer vaccine today. Not looking forward to it as my sister had it and said it kills! And you have to get go back 3 times to get topped up. Has anyone else had this done?
Bodie's been a pretty good boy lately, I think he has a tooth coming through because I can see a little white dot but I'm not 100% sure. I witnessed him rolling over yesterday from his belly to his back. Was pretty proud!
I went and brought some little bowls & spoons to get him ready for his farax that we'll be giving him in a couple of weeks time ... should be interesting. hehe

Nik: Yep Bodie arches his back too when he has tantrums hehe. Little buggers! Gotta love them though. to you too hun! We all love you!

Karen: Fingers crossed Francis puts on weight. Sounds like your going through a rough time at the moment with BF. Hope it all works out for you.

Kate: Hope your feeling better from your time in hospital.

Hi everyone else. Hope your all well

I have to get going, mum's coming around to mind Bodie while I go to the doctors.

    Hey everyone!!

Well went to see the health nurses today and Amy has put on a whopping 850g in a month!!! I knew she was having a growth spurt but didn't expect that much! Woah. I'm so happy. She's now 7.17 kg. I also spoke to the nurses about Amy's behaviour, poos etc and she had a look at her gums and said it looks like she's teething. So I'm glad that is an explanation. I had a feeling that it might be that. I don't like her being this grumpy though. We've had a breakthrough too! Amy slept through last night without being wrapped!!!!!!!!!! It's one thing I've been a bit scared to stop doing but I was all prepared for a night of no sleep. And it ended up being fine. I'm so happy cos I was sick of wrapping her and having her wriggle out within five seconds. We're having troubles with her sleeping during the day at the moment but we'll get there.

Madelon - thanks for the hug. things have improved with DH's mood now so it's only Amy that doesn't love me hehehehehe ;-)

Karen - I took Maxolon. I think they all have the same ingredients and so therefore would have the same side effects. They only told me after I stopped taking it that it caused depression. They kept a lot of stuff from me when I was going through all the problems. I guess they thought it would help but the whole time I was wishing that they all would be honest with me. That's the main reason I'm scared of having another baby, cos of all the stress with the feeding. I totally know how you feel. Am sending you both big and am crossing fingers for Francis to gain weight for you......even just a little!! :-) Oh and I saw free range eggs at the supermarket the other day.....you probably already know that..... We went with S26 gold cos of the extra omega 3 fatty acids.....only reason cos all the other ingredients are exactly the same as all the others

Vic - Yay on the non-rolling buddies! Amy doesn't like being on her tummy so why would she want to roll that way?!? Hehehehehe. I just bought a Prince Lionheart bebepod for $30 off ebay and she seems to like it but her legs are so chubby at the mo that they barely fit!!! Hehehehehehe. I love you guys too

Bindy - Yep I thought it was teeth and the nurses said so too so hopefully the little buggers poke through soon. I want my happy baby back! That's really reassuring about madeleine. hopefully Amy's the same. It's been almost two weeks now but feels like a month! hehehehe.

Well better go feed my little grumpy angel. She looked SOOOOOO funny last night. She had both arms right out at right angles to her body. It's like she wanted to make up for all the nights she had been wrapped and was stretching her arms out as far as they would go. So cute. Will take a photo and put it on facebook soon. Have a great day lovely ladies and bubbies xxxx Luv Nik and Amy

    Hi Everyone,

I have just spent the last 2 days catching up on posts. I used to hate the computer when I was working, so I have been avoiding it and have been spending my time playing and doing loads of washing.

Bryce is losing his hair too, and might be teething. He is all dribbly and loves to chew his fists. We will have to join the no-rolling club purely because his nappy is too huge for him to move - he he. When he is a nudie he rolls from his back to his side to chew things. He must be like Amy - as he also doesn't like being on his tummy so why would he roll there. He is a big fella - close to 8kg, and 66cms. He has almost outgrown his hammock which will be a shame because he is so easy to rock to sleep.

Madelon - I am still bf full time. I worry about supply, and a lot has to do with how much liquid I drink the day before.

Karen - I have to drink 4l to have enough milk the next day. Drinking milk also seems to help. Someone recommended Blessed Thistle for supply, but I haven't tried it. I also have never felt a let down and rarely leak so i can't tell what's going on until Bryce gets cranky at empty boobs. I seem to be feeding him constantly - still every 2.5 to 3 hours but I like all the cuddles. Good luck fattening Francis up.

Hind - where is the bright bots factory outlet ... sounds like it'd be worth a trip.

Still haven't moved into our house - so am camped at my mums place. It is great having extra help, but I am eagerly awaiting the completion date so we can move. I haven't joined a mums group because we will move soon, so it gets a bit lonely with DH being away half the month.

Better get back to the laundry - now it is sunny in QLD again

    Hey Loren,

Bryce is just as big as Sander is. Wow, we must be doing something right breastfeeding them huh!? lol. It's weird hey, this supply thing. I always express twice a day when at work and yesterday I felt like I was bursting at the seems and didn't have enough empty bottles with me. Then after dinner and through the night they felt really empty. So weird. Must be me not drinking enough as it was quite busy at work.

Sander also still doesn't roll. He can get on his side but that's about it. He doesn't hate being on his tummy anymore though, he's getting the hang of it. Likes rolling over with some help now. (I cross his one leg over the other and he does the rest)
He is just so cute and love to cuddle and kiss/eat me! Such a great phase. Hope he will stay like that! (I love to cuddle up but dh HATES cuddling, he's kinda restless and tickly)

O well, better prepare myself for another busy day at work! Have a gr8 weekend everyone!

NikW, She is so smart, that's all - your right, only a silly baby would want to roll onto their tummy!!! lol Punky doesn't mind being on her tummy now though, used to hate it, depends on her mood how long she likes it for though.

Medelon - It is a lovely time now isn't it? I have just spent the whole day playing with Punky, I can't get enough of her at the moment! DP comes home & I bombard him with "...look what she's doing now!" "...isn't she cute?" "...no, NOW look at her!" "How cute is she...??!!"

    Hi Everyone,

Loren thanks for the advice I may give blessed thistle a try.

I don't seem to be able to keep up with Francis and feeding. I think I am just really tired as well. At night time I sometimes ask Brett to take him out of the room when I am trying to fall asleep. I feel bad because I know he wants his booby on tap but I can't go to sleep when he is lying next to me and I know he is about to start wriggling around and making noise for a feed, I get anxious about it and it generally happens that way, when I am about to close my eyes he wants another feed. Throughout the rest of the night I am fine waking for feeds.

Thanks everyone for your advice on BF, even though I have done this 3 times before each bub is unique and while posting and reading posts I am learning new things about mothering and how others cope with parenting. I guess that is what I like most about BellyBelly, and I like taking to new people too

    Hello everyone

I've been reading the updates via email on my phone but it's been a while since I posted!
Hope everyone had a good long weekend!

Amelie has been pretty good...just over 6kg now (which is still pretty light but growing on the 25th percentile)...
She was fully breastfed until yesterday... Over the past few evenings she has been little unsettled and I got a feeling that my milk wasn't enough for her towards the end of the day... so after much deliberation we gave her about 125ml of formula (S-26) as a top up. She took it well but wanted another feed before sleeping and woke up once to have a short feed... so..hmm.. dunno what's going on there.. I think we'll try giving her the same again tonight.

Yeah so like Karen I'm keen to increase my milk production...My mum says drinking soy milk helps so she bought me heaps of dry soy beans for me to soak, then boil then blend to eat/drink... been too lazy to do it but I think I should start eating it more regularly..only problem is.. it makes me very flatulent and I think makes bub the same too haha...

Otherwise...still getting stressed here and there by people's comment saying she's light blah blah So those of you who have bubs over 7 kgs just on breastmilk - you are so blessed!!!
On the positive side.. she doesn't hurt my back and is developing well otherwise...I know a mum who gave birth to a girl 10 days before me and she's already 10kg w/ teeth just on breastmilk!!! All bub's diff eh?

Oh I have to join the what was it?.. the 'not rolling yet' club?? She loves tummy time and have rolled onto her side.. but haven't officially rolled onto her tum or other way yet.

Have any of you done a long drive w/ your bubs yet?
We are planning to drive Syd-Mel next week.. some people think we're crazy but we're gonna give it a go!

I better go and do some tidy up.. dear Am's sleeping hihi yayayayayayaya!!

Love to all mums & bubs!

we are having a grizzly day here. i wonder if my mood is affecting bryce, as i am really ticked off with our builder, and the tiler. he used the wrong colour grout, and the wrong tiles in some places - argh. get over it loren.

karen - i found that when i co-sleep with Bryce he always wriggles around hunting for boobs, and wakes for a 2.30 feed. i now have him in his hammock beside me and he sleeps from 7.30 - 6 almost every day. it is really lovely to have him in bed with us, but he i can just reach out and give him a swing if he wakes up - which is usually only if he has to fart.

madelon - i am also getting kiss/eaten here. my brother has nicknamed bryce the 'snapping turtle'. he has also started pinching, and grabbed my [rather glamorous] sister on the face and wouldn't let go. she was mortified. not sure she'll ever hold him again.... at least it wasn't the hair he grabbed. he he.

    Unhappy

    Hi Everyone,

Francis saw the Health Nurse on Tuesday and he has moved down two percentiles since birth. However she doesn't think he is starving, she has told me to persist, take the meds for 4 weeks this time and keep going with BF in the meantime. She does want me to do a day stay at the clinic though. Huge drive for me...

I took him with me to the GP yesterday because my 7 year old had an ear infection upon picking him up from school (he didn't tell his teacher that his eat hurt), after she checked out my eldest I told her that Francis needed his immunistions next week and I had booked him in, yet she said that he can't have his injections next week because he hasn't been gaining sufficiently. So same thing as last...comp feed him. Which I did last night.

I am a little more than frustrated about it because I am told different things. I know I should know what to do myself and do it, however that would be continuing with BFing and I am put off sticking with it now on the off chance that I am starving him, DP's mum has already said that I am putting my needs above Frankie's and I am beng a selfish mother who is going to cause her baby neurological damage.

DP thinks he is fine and not hungry for more than what he gets from me, because he won't take more than 50ml of formula in a day. So I am boggled why he is not gaining more that 100 odd grams a week (av).

Francis is now 6.15kg 2-3 weeks ago he was 5.85kg, I would have to go back through and read my posts. I know that isn't good enough but I feed him all the time. He is happy and smilely. He is not week or lethargic and his frontonelles are not sunken, so I don't know why the doctor thinks that he is starving.

It is really annoying and I am pretty upset about it because I want to do the right thing by my son and I have always thought that breast feeding was the best thing and that it was easy (at least it had been for me and I took that for granted). Now I feel like I have to change my way of thinking because I am now one of those that can't do it because my milk supply was not good enough.

I still want to be a part of growing my baby I don't want to lose that connection, I feel heart broken at the thought that I am not able to do it anymore because of my milk or lack there of, it just feels so unfair.

Hi Loren - I am going to put him in his rocker next to the bed after feeds from now on as I gave him to my partner last night after a feed and he put him on his chest and fell asleep himself, the next minute Francis was on the floor crying...he is ok though. It does help if they are not constantly lying next to you because they do smell the milk.

Oh Karen, hugs for you hon, you sound like you need some!!

He certainly doesn't sound like he's starving, what with the happy & the smiley & all, & if he's got plenty of wet nappies too... I know it's easy for me to say but if I were you I'd be quite happy to go with what the Health Nurse recommended - did the doctor say why he thought he was 'starving'?! That is a pretty big statement to make without any explanation & the MCHN wouldn't gamble with your sons health if she had any doubt that he was getting enough nourishment.

Have you posted in the bf problems & support section? Barb would have some proper advice for you - as opposed to my general well wishes! Good luck, whatever you decide to do will be for the best, I'm sure.

I don't think I posted about this here, but Punky sat up by herself for the first time on Sunday! I was so proud, you'd think nobody had ever sat up in the history of the world lol. I'd had her propped in the corner of the couch when she leant forward & stayed there!! Then yesterday I had her on the floor & I let the dog in & Punky rolled over twice to get a better look at the dog... she hasn't done it again though... perhaps I'll let the dog in again tomorrow lol.

Gross moment today though - heard a huge bang outside this morning & left Punky in her room on a towel where she was having nappy free time while I went out to investigate... when I came back in there was poop on the towel & she'd managed to 360 in it & it was all over her babylegs....!! Eeewwww... I think she did it on purpose 'cause she loves baths so much hehehe.

Hope everyone & there bubbas are all woo-hoo & yee-haw! (aka, going along smoothly... )

    Hi guys!

    Hey everyone remember me??

I got a message from Kate and it prompted me to pop in and see how everyones doing? Maz I sent you a message a while back to see how you and Mat where going, you musn't have got it..

I've had a look through some old posts to see if I could speed read myself caught up but just like always I forgot everything

luca is doing well he's now fully FF I just kept getting sick and run down and he obviously wasn't getting enough from me because I was having to feed him about 4 times in the night and every 2 to 3 hrs through the day, just wayyyy too much for my popor body to handle so now he averages 6 to 7hrs through the night from about 8pm till 3am and then wakes up in time to help get the kids ready fro school atleast that's this week anyway

Poor Luca as much as he's strong and happy he's had conjunctive itus and 2 colds in his short life already and passed them all on to mummy of course I'm wondering if the pregnancy had made me so run down? I'm taking a multi and eating properly but still can't seem to get well, I guess i just have to ride it out..

Anyway that's all I'll post for now or you'll get sick of me

Karen, sorry to hear about your issues with Francis. I am sure Francis won't look back on you if you chose to FF and think you failed him. You are obviously a very good Mumma! Would you consider FF'ing if it's getting really hard? I know we are all different chicks with different Bubs and the like but I had a good go at BF'ing Madeleine for 3 weeks and then she was FF after that. Like I said, every situation is different but she has been fine on formula, she has thrived a lot and it's been good for my sanity, I have never felt bad for FF her let alone feelings of letting her down. She's being fed well so that's all the matters to our family. I really hope things get better for you though, my thoughts are with you. If you really want to continue with BF'ing, talk to Barb on the BF Support Panel, she might have some advice for you.

Joralyd, good to hear from you! Glad Luca is well

Vic, that's great that Scarlett sat up on her own! Madeleine did this recently too! I had to laugh with the exploding poo thing. Makes me not want to take off Madeleine's nappy!! But hey SH** HAPPENS, hee hee.

Moonsun, we've driven an hour with Madeleine in the car. We haven't turned her seat around yet though even though she's 10kgs, just better to leave her rear facing for as long as possible with some of the things I've read. But we leave after her feed so she sleeps most of the way. I never drive on my own with her that far though, at least if she cries, I can hop in the back with DP driving, if she screamed for an hour, I would go bonkers!!

Well Madeleine sits up pretty well now with a nice straight back but sometimes will go sideways. She is quite rashy around the mouth ATM, maybe because of the dummy and the saliva all the time. I haven't had the best couple of weeks with her. She has been constantly waking through the night, used to sleep right through, I must have been so spoilt with her because she will wake and stir so much and has even resorted to an early morning bottle again!!! Her cheeks are super red, she's chewing heaps and she is really grizzly. I think she may be getting her top two teeth, her bottom ones came through at 4 months so we're just waiting to see whether that's it!! Hard to know when they are so little, wish she could tell me!

She's also on solids now, has rice cereal/fruit in mornings, pumpkin/potato at lunch and some chicken soup/fruit early evening, loves her food and is a real little guts.

    Hope everyone else is well.

    Belinda and Madeleine xx
