Can I just say "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRR" I am sooooo over these sleepless nights!! Zara wakes twice, Wolf wakes twice ... I don't think I am getting more than 2 hour sleep-bits at a time. I am knackered. Once we know whether we are moving to Switzerland or staying in London, I will bite the bullet and do a few nights of controlled crying for both of them. I want my sleep back!! It wasn't a problem before but now with 2 kids winding up in our bed at night, it just gets too crowded. Wolf has had a few nights where he slept through, but recently he wakes 2 - 3 times at night. I just don't know what's going on. Zara is sick (sniffly and coughing) and is also major cranky at night. I feel like a wreck most days... I was so happy initially when Zara just woke once and Wolf had nights where he slept through but in the last month or so it has all gone pear shaped...
Any tips are welcome!
Now to some personals: Sherie - glad to hear yours have been late teethers too. Yes, I have heard that if you get teeth late, they will stay longer.. but it's probably just one of those old wives' tales...
Jo - yikes on the scare with Kaleb! Glad to hear it wasn't hives! Have I mentioned that I love the name Freya?
Kellee - Wolf speaks English and German (I am German). It's so funny - he will go "heiss heiss heiss" and then "HOT" - everyone around him will be bilingual soon! Even our nanny from Perth knows all of the German words he uses now - he he.
re. DTD ... I still haven't... I am just too tired to even think about it... plus I have been bleeding all the time since birth.. which I had checked out recently. It turns out, I have a 4.5cm big cyst in my ovaries. Woopdidoo, like having the 7cm haematoma after birth wasn't enough... will have to have it checked out again soon.
btw - Wolf had a phase where he was quite nasty to Zara and would want to make her cry but I started rewarding good behaviour with chocolate and now he is really sweet with her. Now he wants to make her giggle and it just melts my heart when he does.
Christy - glad to hear Matilda also just had 6 teeth at 18 months. Makes me a bit less worried... I mean, I am sure they will come.. but it just has been ages since something happened in his gums...
Jessica - arrg on the rotavirus. Hope you are over it. I feel like I have gone from one virus to the next recently... are there a lot of bugs and viruses floating around recently or is it just me? (or is this what happens when you have kids, you suddenly are sick constantly?) - yeah.. it definitely feels like the kids are constantly sick too, doesn't it? I think it's just normal...
Michelle - OMG - I can't believe Jordan has her period! That is just.. well... I guess normal, but boy it would freak me out. I had enough trouble dealing with Wolf's morning wood one morning (just closed the nappy again and hoped for it to go away, lol)
arrrg on DH and the "what have you been doing today" comment... I think it's time you dump the kids on him and have a spa day on your own to remind him
Kathryn - congrats on boy no. 3. DH's friends here in London are in the exact same position... pregnant with boy no.3.
Theresa - hope the specialist will sort the food issues out!
BTW - I have no idea who or what Fifi is... can someone clue me in?
The Wiggles are touring the UK... luckily Wolf is not aware they exist. He is currently going through a Bob the Builder phase .... well, I guess having no TV helps with not getting too hooked on all the TV characters. But he saw it at my mom's place and now sings the song in German (soooooooo cute)
Christy – sorry, we’re not meaning to scare you with our stories of two little ones! It’s not so bad really (says she with two babies asleep atm!). It does take a bit of getting used to – for everyone involved – but you find your groove eventually. And you can vent to us anytime you like! Good idea with the DVDs too. I think I’ll definitely be doing more of that when DH goes back to work. Poor little Matilda with her head! Glad it seems to be recovering well though. Hope you get some sleep – I know it’s hard, but you’ll get through.
Jessica – so glad I didn’t offend you. I was worried about that! Love your new avatar too.
Mitch – don’t worry, I’ve certainly had my moments of nearly losing it! I think that last time I was so unprepared for how hard it could be, but this time I prepared myself a bit better (mainly because I didn’t want to get PND again) so I’m rationalising everything and not allowing myself to get overwhelmed by it all. We tend to have a couple of bad nights followed by a couple of good ones, so I’m not too worried. Hope you get your website up and running properly soon so you can start making some moulah! BTW, regarding your messy house… my favourite fridge magnet says “Dull women have immaculate homes”. That’s my excuse anyway!
Mel – glad to hear that Eliana is almost back to normal. That strawberry farm sounds awesome! You’re lucky to live so close to one.
Nikbrad – don’t worry about the vent! We all need to do that sometimes. Glad you got the new car, and that you had a good time in Sale (despite DH’s drunkenness!). Hope Mackenzie has some better nights since Saturday.
Snowy – Big hugs to you. Just keep telling yourself that this phase won’t last forever, and before you know it you’ll be wishing they were both small again! Hope you find out where you’re going to live soon so that you can start cc and get some sleep again! You poor thing with your cyst and haematoma. That’s terrible for you. I hope you’re able to sort it out soon. It must be great having no TV – I often wish we didn’t either, but then I would miss Hugh Laurie too much, I think!
Well Charlie seems to be settling down with the crying a bit, thank goodness. He still gets a bit perturbed by Toby crying at times, but recently if he reacts it’s to get attention more than from actual distress, so that’s something. I wonder how he’ll go when DH goes back to work? It’s been so much easier on Charlie while DH has been here because he has still been able to have a bit of attention. I hope I can keep that up when it’s just me and the kids. Anyway, might go and check on my lovelies now – Toby had this weird rash on his head (on the top, just one side) when I fed him at 9.30, so I thought I’d wait up and check it again to make sure it didn’t get any worse. Funny thing is, DH and I think it might be beard rash from when DH was settling him earlier in the dark before he went to bed! Hope that’s all it is – it wasn’t accompanied by anything else sinister, so I think it’s ok for the moment. Hope those with two get some sleep and everyone else is doing well.
