Gemma I highly recommend station street clinic, all Dr's good, but we see Mc Cowan, hard to get into, mention its a baby and I recommended you. We should get together and chat about the neighbourhood, and meet each others kids. I think you have my email.

Hey Vanita - pmsl @ Dion tearing up the place. I reckon these boys are very thorough with their work! So busy!!

I haven't done any organising for Al's birthday either have no idea what we should do. The weather is so unpredictable so can't really plan anything outdoor, and our place is very small. Besides that, my family will not be here for it anyway...so it is just all a big question mark how to do it.

Al's still got the rash on his back and its a little worse than yesterday, ie its spread more. Any ideas what it could be? Looks like tiny little pimples...

Hi Gemma!! Can't wait to read the rest of your post - should be a good summary of the last few weeks!!

Hi all, I was MIA yesterday as I was a bit unwell. I get migraines (as you probably know) and I had the onset of one on Wed, but got on top of it. But didn't sleep a wink on Wed night and Thursday I had to go to Ballarat with mum to get stuff for Pup's party. I was feeling VERY queasy and mum had to drive there and back as I was so yuk and had taken strong migraine drugs (which I don't like to drive on). I actually had to get her to pull over so I could spew. poor Pup could hear me spewing and was crying. Didn't stop until I stood up and let him know I was there (how do they know something is wrong??? Amazing!). Anyway, still feeling $hitty today and nauseous. Don't think it was something I ate, but you duno't know. Might be the tablets too..... Hope I feel better soon.

On the MMR debate, I reckon - and my opnion only - is that there are a lot of behavioural issues that are attributed to autism by drs that don't knw what else to label some kids. But also, as some of you have stated and I agree, the psychological field has improved dramatically in the past 10 - 20yrs and now things like autism are being given their own diagnosis. There was quite a debate raging in the New Scientist magazine a year or so ago about MMR and the links to autism and the research findings suggested that the so called linkages were not linkages at all. From memory, they also discussed the cases prior to the 1970's (when MMR started being given to all kids) of diagnosed autism, that never recived the MMR vaccine. I should try and find the article somewhere.....???

I think it is healthy, rational and sane that we question things like this and I'm very glad we live in a society and period that allows us to do it. I myself, do believe in immunisations. I guess everything has a risk associated to it and as a parent, we have to weigh up the risk of doing something something like vaccinations against the possibility of getting the disease.

I don't think I added ANYTHING to that discussion... LOLOL

Hope you feel on top again soon hayseed.

You're right about us being lucky that we live in a society (or societies lol) where we even have an option to debate such issues. In many countries immunisation is an absolute necessity. It is thanks to the fact that we have had such a good programme in place for so long that we can now stand around and say, should we or shouldn't we?

    hi guys.

Hay, hope you are feeling a lot better soon. I get migraines too and they are shockers! Hope DH gives you a bit of a break for a day or so, so you can get on top of it properly!

Deb, dunno what Al's rash could be, has he eaten anything different? Or has it been hot? Maybe a new washing powder or new clothes or something?

On the MMR debate, I am so uneasy about the fact that I have given the immunisation to Coby already, but I also have to be guided by my GP who says that there's no links. The WHO agrees that there are no concrete links to MMR and autism. But its forever in my mind, I just hope my little vegemite is ok...

Hay, if you find that article, Id be pleased to know what it says....

Coby is pretty good, we're going to another birthday party today, for his friend Maya, she's 1. Weather is looking a bit dodgey, and its an outdoors party, so should be interesting!

Anyway, must fly, I've got 1000 things to do before the party...

I had a little suspicion in the back of my mind that the nausea might have been morning sickness.....but no. AF arrived this morning. So I must have just been sick. Bugger.

Hey Bel - how was the party? Did the weather stay clear?
BTW the rash has gone down now, thanks for your thoughts. Still a mystery.

Brooke - sounds pretty rough for your nanna. I'm thinking of her, poor love. Where is the absess forming? In her new hip or is it unrelated to that? Good luck with the packing, things must be absolutely upside down there! Bet you can't wait to move. is Maya helping putting things in (and out) of boxes?

Hi Kate - get well soon

Hayseed - damn damn damn. I was hoping for you.

Kate – I hope you are feeling okay and your BP doesn’t give you too much trouble. It must have been scary for you to be dizzy especially when you were out with Kelsey. We have been cleaning Amy’s teeth from the first one. We got a bit slack in between the others but now she has 8, we clean them twice a day. We started with a rubber toothbrush and now use one with bristles, both are baby toothbrushes. She knows what to do and opens her mouth and she even brushed her own teeth the other night. We just use water.

Rachel – What a clever boy Blake is! You are doing well if you can pull off the birthday party, there are so many at once! We have settled in to the new house and Amy loves it. She actually has room to crawl around. I guess we won’t be bumping into each other anymore at the local shops but we should keep in touch. Your playgroup sounds like a good group. How’s the packing going for Paris? How’s Viv’s skating going?

Hayseed – Bummer about the nausea and AF arriving. I am so happy for you that your cycle is back to normal. LOL at pup drinking the dregs! I’m glad your arm is okay and that you didn’t need stitches, it sounded nasty though. I can just imagine pup in his ‘work clothes’, how cute! Your story about the poo made me laugh!! It has happened twice to me, first thought is get the baby out as she likes to play with it. Yuk!!!

Brooke – The nurse that examined Maya does sound weird! You must be so excited moving to Melb, congratulations on your house settling. Good luck with finishing the packing. I must have missed where in Melb you are moving to?? Maya is sleeping well and three hours in the afternoon is really good. I am the same as you about milk. DH has slowly been introducing Amy. I was thinking of organic food too. DH made a comment that cows eat grass so they can’t really be harmed by the milk. Amy is eating chopped vegies and meat and now feeds herself from her highchair table. Well done on no wrap! HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAYA!!!!

Hey Hayseed, when you hard feed the cows, do you put much stuff in their grain?

Bel – How cute with Coby pointing at the moon! Good luck TTC and I hope it comes naturally for you and your DH. Coby’s cake is fantastic!!!!!!!!!! You are very clever.

Vanita – Thanks so much for the info on the doctor. It was great talking to you on the phone too, we will definitely catch up and maybe we could go to Monkey G’s sometime too. DH took Amy to see Dr McCowan and he said she was fine. She is much better now too. How funny with Dion trying to grab his shadow! It’s interesting what you said about socialising. We definitely need to socialise Amy more and even considered family daycare, although we have now changed our minds on that idea. After seeing her cousins walk she started walking on her own so I have no doubt that she would have started walking earlier if she had been socialised more. We are joining a playgroup in Pakenham that our friend goes to. What Maternal Heath Centre do you go to? I have to transfer Amy for her 12 month check up. Speaking of Coke and babies, my friend’s nieces baby has been given Coke from very early and now has holes in every one of his teeth!!!!!!! They are rotten from drinking Coke constantly. I hope Dion is feeling better.

Deb – I would be sticking to my guns about Al and childcare, try not to let them pressure you. He is your baby and you don’t have to do anything you don’t want to, and you know what’s best for him. You could always return to Oz! Congrats on Danish school, you have done very well.
