And BTW, I don't even like my telemarketers to have poor English, let alone my doctor. I don't think it's racist to want to understand what you're being told at all. You can be from Mars and be my doctor so long as I understand every word you say.;)

Sacha - you have inspired me again - have been lazy over winter and decided it is time to get back into MCN properly. Just went on the Baby Beehinds site and ordered some more of their all in ones. I didn't realise they had them in the Minkee material - they look gorgeous.
Now for your MCN questions - Nicky will definiately have to answer the q's regarding pocket and AI2's. I just thought that the AIO's looked a bit easier in terms of getting DH to let me outlay the money for them. Any thing too confusing and he just wouldn't use them . Regarding stains etc, I haven't had any problems with that but I also use a liner inside mine. I swear sometimes Tom saves up his poo for when he has a cloth on. The liner is easier - just take it out and chuck it, rather than scrapping off poo! Nappy changes - we generally get 3 or so hours out of one. Tom isn't a overly heavy wetter - just at night and we use disposable then.
As for all the different brands - there is sooooo many isn't there. After deciding to get some more, I know I said I would of looked at other brands, but I am really happy with Baby Beehinds . The price seems good - $25 for their new version and $18 for their old stock (I think the difference is that the new version has a pocket so you can add a booster if needed. Booster is included in the price of new ones). I read a few threads on here and most of the girls seemed happy with Baby Beehinds.
Thanks for your well wishes for Tom. He ended up going back to sleep yesterday and slept for 5 hours. It was lovely - although I paid for it this morning... He woke up at 5.30am. Bleeeeerrrghhh! Actually I don't even know why I am on the computer - I should be lying down having a rest!!
Hi hi!!!!
I love my MCN's! And I was so adamant that I would never use them.. hehe
AIO's are def the most husband proof. They are basically a disposable that you wash. VERY user friendly, but they can take AGES to dry compared to AI2's and pockets.
I don't use liners with my nappies. I have never had a problem with staining as the sun naturally bleaches them out.
AI2's are great. I prefer nappies that snap together, not a fan of the velcro as I find that my child loves to try and pull it open. lol AI2's are great! They are really easy to put together, and because you pull them apart, they dry alot quicker than an AIO.
Pocketsare my fave! With pockets, you place the insert into the actual nappy itself. it goes inside the nappy so there's the outer 'pretty' layer adn then the inner layer that is what goes against DS' bum. I find pockets invaluable, as I can stuff them to my heart's content. If DS has been drinking heaps, I can put a couple of inserts into the nappy, and not have to worry about leaking. Most of the time, we're pretty right with only one insert.
They dry pretty quickly too, which for me, is a big bonus. I don't have a dryer, and I don't really like the idea of putting MCN's in a dryer as over time it can weaken them.
I can put you onto a few different sites if you like, that explain each nappy a bit better than I can. My advice would be to try a few different brands until you find nappies that you like. That fit your child well, and that you can easily use.
Everyone has a different fave nappy. It's just trial and error until you find the perfect one for you.
Well, I hope that has helped. hehe
Phew.
On the pregnancy front, all is going well. Energy starting to come back and sickness is actually slowing down a little. M/S is still there, but not as feirce as it has been. I am counting down the days until my morph scan... I am so excited to find out if we are having a girl or boy. I don't have a preference.
Jess- I hope these final weeks of your pregnancy are going realy well! All the best for the upcoming birth of your new little man!
Hi everyone!! I hope your kids are keeping you on your toes! hehe Give them all a big kiss for me.
xxoo
Nicky - which inserts do you use in your nappies? You have convinced me  and I have ordered a Happy Heiny pocket - it comes with a microfibre insert. Is that enough or do I need to get something else? I am hoping that it turns out ok because I would love to order some more - the drying time sounds good. The AIO's take longer and thats why I got lazy over winter. AND they come in super cute prints - i won't wont to put pants on Tom - I ordered him a pirate skulls one. So cute. What sites do you order off? (PM if you need to). I ordered this one off Nappy Bucket, and also had a look at Darlings Downunder originally but they just didn't have the stock of it.
Hi em,
I mainly have Microfirbe inserts, but have a few bamboo ones too. I find that I really only need the one insert..... but the insert's I have are huge. I should take some pics for you... Might go adn do that and PM you.
I will also PM you the sites of my all time faves. I tend not to go with what most people on this site use.
Lachie has cut 3 of his 'eye' teeth. So he has all but 5 teeth cut through. It's mad! He was reallygood with most of them, but these eye teeth are killers. He had to sleep in our bed twice this week. He was in so much pain, poor boy. Panadol and Bonjella didn't do alot.
Are any of the other kids obsessed with anything? Lachie is obsessed with cars. Doesn't help that DH is a car freak! We have pics of cars all over the walls, an Lachie will run over to them, point to the, and say 'dad'. LOL Everything seems to be dad at the moment. It's hillarious.
He also ADORES Thomas the Tank engine. Then again, so does DH. lol
Does anyone's kids watch in the night garden? Occasionally, I will let Lachie watch it, and he is entranced. He will stand as close to the TV as he can get, dance to the music and try and say 'upsie' all the time. It's good to sometimes get 30 mins to scratch myself of a morning.
Everything else is going well. M/S seems to be calming down, which I am thrilled about. I hope it's not short lived.
Hope you are all well.
Nicky - we sell all the In the Night Garden stuff at work and kids just go nuts over it. They will run in screaming "Iggle Piggle!". Tom likes it too - I personally don't understand it. There must be some kind of subliminal messages in it that babies only understand!
Tom is totally and utterly obsessed with cricket. Just like his daddy.. He has 2 cricket bats and every morning as soon as he gets up, he has to get his bat and ball and have atleast one hit. He is a surprisingly good shot. He sits and watches it on tv and claps and everything. At least when he is older, i'll be able to send him off on a Saturday to the cricket with his dad and have a sleep in!
Hi all,
LOL at Iggle Piggle and kids going nuts, Olivia goes nuts whenever she sees something iggle piggle or upsy daisy in the shops, its so cute. She has a few things for xmas. She already has 3 books, and tonight she was going into her room to get books, one at a time, and each time she brought out those books - DH rolled his eyes cause he don't understand it and she wanted him to read them to her!!! (I was watching Home and Away so I got out of it) hehe
Just a quick one from me, we have to clean tonight for the open tomorrow (still haven't sold the damn house). I got Olivia some shoes yesterday, bit early but makes it easier to go outside when the ground is hot. I take them off as soon as we get inside though - she loves them :)
Have a great weekend all, we have a 1st birthday and swimming, then I have my annual girls ****tail party :)
xxxx
wow it has been so long since I've posted!!! I've missed heaps! Noah started walking about a month ago and we found out last friday we are expecting a boy!!! Well so sorry for the crappy post will try to get in soon for a proper update...having issues with our net at home
Hey everyone,
It's been ages since I posted in here. I have been reading bits and pieces so sort of keeping up.
A month ago Oliver's Dad moved out, so things haven't been too good on my end. I am struggling with the single mother stuff, the loneliness is a bit hard to bare sometimes, but I am determined to give it my best. I have decided to get a job next year (need the money), so Oliver will have to go into care. I am opting for family day care, just waiting on a spot for him. He is a super clingy boy so I would like to have him settled before I start looking for work.
Oliver is doing well, running around everywhere and getting into all sorts of mishief!! I am still breastfeeding but am considering weaning in the new year.
Hope everyone is well, I will try and pop back in soon.
Raels.
I'm sorry to hear that Raels, I'm sure it's been up and down for you lately. You poor thing, I send massive massive hugs to you and little Oliver. Well done on the BF. Glad to hear he is doing well, sounds like he keeps you on the go, bit like this little monster, currently doing a figure 8 between my legs ;). Anyway hunny, I hope you have more good days than bad ahead of you. I'll be thinking of you, and remember we are all here for you, baby related or otherwise. Take care xxx
We are doing o.k., with DH away, atm more better than worse days so that's all I can ask for. Must be off, kids have woken, will try and get back later.
Raels - I am so sorry to hear your news. I hope you are ok - you are an amazing strong woman and I am thinking of you. I think Mel said it all - we are always here if you need to talk/type/vent etc :grouphug:.
I just popped in quickly to check up while dinner is cooking. We are going to try and get a Santa photo done of Tom tomorrow. Not sure how he will go- he has been super clingly this week while he has been sick - and while he is so much better today, the clinginess has not disappeared!
Raels, if only we lived just that little bit closer  Anyway, I can at least send you a big  and repeat what the other girls said - we're always here if you need an ear or two. Hopefully the tough times will be short-lived and you and your handsome little guy will settle into a new routine very quickly. I didn't realise you were still BF - that's awesome! What kind of work will you be looking for?
Thanks Em and Nicky for your nappy info. I'm sure I will think of more questions, but at the moment I'm kinda leaning towards AIO. I think I will use Autie as the guinea pig with just a few to start with, and work towards mostly full-time cloth if we have another bub.
Em, good to hear Tom is on the up. Good luck with your Santa photo. LOL at your little Ricky Ponting - Dan would love to have Autie doing that! In fact, if I tell him what Tom does, I'm sure he'll be out buying her a bat straight away.
Nicky, Autie loves the night garden, especially Upsy Daisy - she likes to copy her dance. And the birds always get a mention too. I have got her a singing Upsy Daisy for Christmas. As for obsessions, she is incredible with her ball obsession - has had it ever since she was able to reach out and grab them at about 3 or 4 months. Any size, shape, texture, colour - and she will spot them in a book/shop/tv show at a mere glance. Maybe that cricket bat is not such a bad idea... As I type she is carrying around two in one hand and one in another.
Congratulations Jas! Both on the walking, and the new little man
Hi Mel, glad to hear you're having lots of good days!
Well, autie has been sick since Wed with high temps. Had a trip to the hospital Friday when it hit 40.2 but basically it's just a 'virus'. She's still not great today but hopefully it's on it's way out. Anyway, 'hi' to anyone I missed, must go.

Sarah
HI all! Just popping in to say we are still alive! I just have a little boy who literally DOES NOT STOP all day so i find it very hard to get on here and concentrate! Some days he only sleeps for 45 min all day (today was one of those days god love him) so having time to myself is very rare!! But he is a very happy, funny thing so i cant complain! He is a talking machine who tries to copy everything we say which is very cute. Hmmm what else? We went into the city on the weekend to see santa at Myer. By the time we got through the line Lucas was exhausted so he looks like a bit of a stunned mullet in his photo, it was a fun day though! We had my brother's wedding last weekend which was ace, and Lucas looked very cute! Pity that his mother was a disgrace by the end of the night....just cant drink like i used to!!
Raels- I was so sad reading your post. I hope you and Oliver are going ok. You are a great mum and he is very lucky to have you!
Sarah - i hear you on the climbing...so over it! Yesterday i was talking to a girlfriend on the phone and i swear i pulled Lucas off the coffee table 50 times, he will never learn! No big bed yet for us...he sleeps all night in the cot so i wont risk it yet!
Sacha - I hope Autie is on the up after her fever!
Pathetic personals i apologise but whenever i go back a page i lose everything!!
Does anyone have any tips for getting Lucas to sleep longer during the day??
Anyone know the best place to get Thomas the tank DVD's..cant find them in target/kmart or big w!! It is the only thing that keeps lucas still for 10 mins.....I NEED THEM!!:D
Hi Megan, I just bought 3 thomas from BIG W, not sure why they don't have them. Maybe they sold out. Jack is sooooooooooo Thomas mad, he is getting Thomas this Thomas that from everyone for Christmas. He even says now, "slow down and take care" it's very cute. We fight here between watching Thomas or Dora, needless to say when the kids are asleep the T.V is off!!!!
Hey I just wanted to say a big hello and good to Jess, just wanted to make sure you saw this. I know your EDD is very soon, just want to make sure you know that I'm thinking of you and all the best for the big day. How exciting. Can't wait to hear all about it. How have things been going? Any niggles aside from the normal. Good luck hun xxx
Hi everyone,
Raels - I'm so sorry to hear your sad news, it's such a tough thing to have to go through. Like all the others have said, we're here for you whenever you need us to be. Yay for the BFing though, Liam's still going with this too, which I'm mostly really happy about, although sometimes I'd like a break.
Jas - lovely to hear from you, I'm glad it's going well. Woo hoo for Noah's walking, isn't it so cute, but oh, the things that they can get into once they start.
sarah - I can't believe all the words Bayleigh has got, what a clever little chap. I hear you on the climbing, although from what you've described I've got it really really easy. No big bed for us here yet as he's still happy in his cot. Great news about Ryan being able to come away with you, and how cute is he with the sleepover counting.
Lis - we quite like the Night Garden in this house too, although I tend to tape them to show at times when I want him to quieten down, rather than watching it at 9am. In fact, we're a little bit sad as parents, because we have a ring tone on our mobiles that begins "who's there...Macca Pacca..hoo-ooh, macca pacca..." Makes us laugh, and it makes Liam terribly interested in the phone.
darn..I've got a cranky sad boy, so will have to come back later to finish personals. maybe tomorrow, I think we're in for one of those nights, no idea what his problem is.
Megan - do you have an ABC shop or a Collins bookshop with an ABC section? You can get them from there. We sell them at my work. If you need to - PM me and I can arrange to get you some :)
Thanks Mel and Em on the Thomas info! I would have thought Big W would have had them so they must have been sold out! We have a Collins bookstore not far so i will go there! Jan just gave me a good idea when she said she tapes Night Garden so i might get onto that too. The poor little bugger slept in till 8.30 this morning and Thomas is on at 8.20 so he missed it! All morning he was pointing at the TV going "toot toot". Very cute. Must say i enjoyed my sleep in though!!
My Dad is building a deck at the moment and jeepers i am over the banging. There are 3 guys here and its doing my head in, plus Lucas is in bed, another short sleep today i'd imagine. God i want to scream!!
I got a ITNG DVD from Kmart last week;) They had heaps. ALso they had Thomas and Bob the Builder etc.
;)
Megan, do you have a Myer near you. They have a sale buy 3 get the 4th for $1 or something like that, and they heaps of Thomas in the Catalogue. HTH
Thanks Mel, sounds like my options are endless! I cant believe i couldnt find them!
This morning I was trying to get Lucas to say "Jim" from Lunar Jim as he keeps calling him Bob, and he said "no" then put his finger up to my lips and went "shhh". Very cheeky but very cute!!
Happy Birthday for today Flossie (Lis)!!! Hope you are having a wonderful day xx
Hi everyone :)
So sorry i have not been around for awhile, ethan's been non stop lately and i have had the flu so busy when ethans awake and sleeping when he's asleep to get rid of it before bub arrives, and been having net problems too.
Any way i am getting very excited only 19 DAYS TO GO!! Woo Hoo  Have had a bit of a show but dr thinks bubs is comfy where he is and i reckon he is going to stay put right till the last minute like ethan. Just mighty uncomfortable now and my stomach is super itchy. My body is having trouble absorbing iron and b12 and my levels are very low so dr has upped my dose of iron and i am having b12 injections every few days, i have one tomorrow then monday then weekly after that and he hopes it sorts it self out once bubs is born. Lacking these is resulting in even more fatigue and the drs worried i may tire too qiuckly during labour, but im sure i can do it!
Ethan is in his big boys bed now too, has been for 11 days, i cried on his first and second night. He is still waking in the night but in the morning he gets up and plays or reads in his room happily, so i just lay in bed a bit longer listening to him through the monitor, he knocks on the door when he wants out :D i usually get his breakfast ready while he plays that way he sits long enough to eat it!
Lis- Hope you had a lovely birthday.
Megan- Very cute! Ethan tells me Shhh at times too, mostly he tells me to sit! As that seems to be what i say constantly, he stands on everything!!
Mel- Thankyou :) How are you and you angels? Glad things are going okay for you while dh is away. Sorry i never got around to replying to your pm. Things have been okay, my mum is feeling alot better and will be having some surgery in march so she is just waiting but still in good spirits. Issues with Dh i have just sort of pushed to the side for now, probably not the best thing but i dont really want to stress about it right now. Not drugs though, which i guess i can be thankful for, Just being too "friendly" with another lady and just being very lazy with ethan and not helping with anything and treating me like poo but yeah, not so sure what to do just not wanting to argue at the moment and try to not let it get to me.
ok i know its not the best post but i get very crampy if i sit too long, so i will leave it here and pop back tomorrow night. Goodnight ladies:)
Hello Ladies..
TOJ- Yay only 19 days to go How exciting.. I bet ethans getting excited.....And yay on him sleeping in a big bed.. How tiny do they look sleeping in a big bed.. Bayleigh has been in his for 3 months now and he LOVES it..
To anyone that is looking for DVD's If you have a "SAMS WAREHOUSE" (formally CLINTS WAREHOUSE) near you they have Thomas, Hi 5, The Fairies, The wiggles, Bob, And playschool on sale for $12.99 this week in their catalogue..
Bayleigh has cut another tooth YAY thats 2 teeth in just over 2 weeks.. WAAHOOOOO LOL so he now has 6 teeth 4front top teeth and 2 bottom front teeth.. Wasnt cranky just really feral nappys again for the last week or so..
Hes funny.. Hes now taking a liking to saying hello to EVERYONE that walks towards or past us when we are out and if they dont say hello back he screams hello back at them.. SOOOOOO embarrassing LOL even today at a set of lights i had all the windows down in the car and a group of young kids pulled up next to us and he's screaming hello to them so they were all waving and saying hello to them and when they took off he goes Broom broom.. Pretty cute but am kinda getting sick of the words hello or hi at the moment.. LOL
Well hope everyone has a great weeekend Im going gargage saling tomorrow went to a big carboot sale this arvo and got a almost new stroller for $10 and a booster seat for the kitchen table (due to bayleigh not wanting to sit in the highchair anymore) for only $2 so tomorrow gotta look for a desk for chloe's room.... :)
Sarah
Just a quick one from to say a huge thankyou to all for your kind words and well wishes.
Oh hun, I hope your o.k. I'm only about 45mins-1hr away from you, if you ever feel like a catch up, please contact me 0416055318. I hope everything is going O.K.
Sarah, thanks for the info on the DVD's. And yey on the new teeth, stroller and booster seat.
Jess, wow that time is flying by. Can't wait for things to heat up, so to speak. You must let us know when things get a moving. I think your being very mature about the situation with DH. With your history of preterm labour with this pregnancy, stress is the last thing you need. But I do think you need to address the problem when the time is right, but I'm sure you know this. Men are so different to us girlies, I hope it's something you can work through it, if that's best for you. Because at the end of the day, that is what should matter most to you, because everything will follow after that. I mean what is best for you is best for Ethan and the new bub. I hope things work out. But on a more brighter note, bring on the bubba, I can't wait to hear news, you go girl!!!!
Hi to everyone else.
We have been so busy this week. I have finally caught up from the 2 weeks of TAFE I missed, well almost, just a couple of little things to do, but totally revealed I've been able to do this much.
Having DH away this year has been a lot more stressful than last year, when he was gone for so long. The kids seem to fight about everything ATM, and I mean everything, it really tests my patience, but I sit at night, have a drink (man I love JD), then go down and kiss them both good night, and I seem to be able to forget about all the challenging moments of the day. One day at a time, a very close friend as taught me (you know who you are), one day at a time, and only 15 more to go,
:dance:woooo hoooo:dance:
Hi everyone. I've just eaten dinner cooked for me - a salmon fillet so big I couldn't even get through it, and I love, love, love salmon. I did try though and now I feel a little ill. Wish I still had that instinct kids have to stop when they've had enough.
Sarah, sounds like you have a little explorer on your hands there! I'm glad he hasn't suffered too much from his adventures. Good news about Ryan, must make you all very happy. Bayleigh sounds as though he is talking way more than Autie. She isn't in a big bed yet and I honestly can't say it's coming up any time soon. She moves around way too much in bed and is still so little, I think I will hold off for a while yet.
Megan, great to hear from you. I know what you mean about loud noises during day sleeps. We have a couple of people with very loud cars up the street beside us and I always get irrationally irate when they go past during Autie's sleep time - so far, they don't wake her though so I don't know what I'm stressing for. As for getting Lucas to sleep longer, the only thing I can suggest is making the room as dark as possible and making sure there is continuous music or sound of some sort on. You probably do those anyway. Autie has recovered from her virus, thanks for asking. Now I just have to get her back to sleeping in her own bed all night...
Jess, can't believe how fast time has flown! You're probably at that 'i've had enough' stage huh? How cute is Ethan knocking on the door when he's ready to come out? Hope all your injections work out, lacking Vit B can really knock you around. Big hugs, sad to hear you aren't feeling much love atm. You are doing a great job being a mum but remember to look after you too.
Good on you Mel, for your 'one day at a time' approach. And of course, a little drink definitely helps too huh? LOL Do you think the kids are acting out a bit due to some confusion about DH being away?
Jan, how is your sad, cranky boy? Is he getting some teeth? I get a little girl like that now and then when some new ones are poking through. Hope he is happier today.
Em and Nicky, I took the plunge and bought two nappies! (Big spender I'm not) They haven't arrived yet but I'm excited to try them finally. They are Baby Beehinds AIOs, pink and blue - wish there had been some funky prints to choose from. I'm also thinking now that I might try putting Autie in training pants during the day, not so much to TT, but just to give her a chance to be a bit loose and cool as it's so hot here. I can usually predict the No. 2s - fingers crossed! Also, do I need to wash the nappies numerous times before using them?
Well there's a massive amount of lightning, so maybe it's best if I get off the computer for now. Happy Sunday everyone.
Hi girls! I am just jumping on quickly - I have a very sick little boy here. He is in bed now but just cant stop coughing. It is heartbreaking. I just went in and propped him up on some pillows to try and ease the coughing a bit.
Sacha - the more you wash the nappies the more absorbant they will become. The Baby Beehinds sends a fabulous booklet with their stuff that explains what to do first wash. I got my new ones the other day and only washed them once because I am impatient, and they are fine. The new BB are fantastic because you get the extra booster. The only thing is the nappy take ages to dry but you should be pretty right - you are in Qld with much warmer weather than Vic? The best thing I found to do is when it is drying on the line, after a while turn it inside out to dry the inside. So absorbant which is great but takes longer to dry. I also recieved my Happy Heiny as well - so cute in skull and cross bones print - but wasn't super happy with it. When I took it off it left huge red marks on his back and legs even though it definiately wasnt too tight, so I think it might just be one for when all my others are in the wash.
Jess - hope you are well! It was great to hear from you - I was beginning to think you may of had him and didnt have time to get on the computer! How are you feeling about having a newborn in the house? So cute about Ethan going into a big bed. I just couldn't imagine Tom in one yet. There is no way he would stay in it! Hope everything goes ok with your DH. You are doing the right thing - you need to just concentrate on you and your babies at the moment. Anything else can come later. I definiately agree with Mel - boys are just different to us aren't they!
Raels - hope everything is going ok and you are feeling a bit happier. We are always here for you!
Megan - I am so jealous that you got a Santa photo done. I took Tom to Myer last weekend and he was just hysterical when it is was time to sit on Santa's knee. He was quite happy to go over and say hello and Santa gave him a keyring and a hat which he took - but no go on the photo. He was clinging onto me sobbing "Bye Elmo Bye" and waving - his signal for 'time to go now Mummy'. How are Lucas' day sleeps going? What time does he go down? The only thing I can say is I pretty much keep Tom up until he is very tired. He would be happy to go to bed around 10.30am but would mostly likely only have about 1 hour. I just have to kind of distract him and push him through the tired stage. He gets like a second burst of energy, then is buggered by about 11.30-12. He will generally sleep about 2-3 hours most day. Maybe Lucas is just going to be one of those that can function on not much sleep - I am definiately not that kind of person! I love my sleep!
Speaking of sleep.. I might go have a lie down while my boy is in bed. I was awake at 6 listening to him cough although he slept until 8.30am. Hope everyone is well, and very organised for Christmas - which i am not :o
Thanks for that Em. I can't wait to get them, I'm hoping they arrive tomorrow. Sorry to hear poor Tom is having a rough time. In case you're interested, there is an ivy leaf extract called Prospan you can get at the chemist that is a natural expectorant. The doctor suggested it for Autie when she had the coughing all night thing. He also says (though it's not on the bottle anywhere) that it has a similar effect to Ventolin in opening the airways a little. I can't say for sure if it was a huge help, but I do think it did a bit of something, and helped me a little to just be able to give her something that might help, if you know what I mean? Oh and the 'bye Elmo bye' thing? Too gorgeous! Hope you both have a better night tonight.
Thanks Sach! I will go to chemist tomorrow - i feel so helpless with him coughing so much
Hi ladies,
Just thought I let you know I gave in and bought 2 all in ones. I was wondering which ones do you all have. I got the all in one's on special, but there were two other sorts, so was wondering what you all had.
well HI to everyone. I feel like it's been ages since I've contributed. It's a bit crazy, cos I'm on the computer heaps at night, but I'm working, so it's not quite so much fun, and by the time I'm done with the work stuff I'm usually too tired to do anything else. And there's no point trying to get on here during the day, cos eagle eye boy is just obsessed with computers, and just wants to play with it if it's on. I'm not sure what's going to happen with the work thing after next week, waiting to see if they want me to come back after Christmas. Fingers crossed they do, cos I'm used to getting the money again now (not much, but it makes a difference), and Liam seems to enjoy Daycare (traitor), so I don't want to have to take him out at this stage, especially as it will be impossible to get him back in anywhere with all the ABC debacle that's going on.
My big news is that finally we have booked a reception place, so I finally have a date - 8/8/09. We're getting married at a winery on the Mornington Peninsula, which spookily my mum & sister decided years ago that it was where I'd get married cos they have the most amazing rose garden and beautiful views of the bay. Which wasn't why we chose it, it was that we couldn't find an indoor venue for a wedding that we liked anywhere else, and given that it's the middle of winter, we really needed/wanted an indoor venue. The roses won't be out, but the views are still there. So now I have to go dress shopping, and start thinking about all the other stuff that has to be done, which sadly, I'm not all that excited about for some reason. Maybe cos of Christmas coming up, and I've got so much stuff to organise for that before I can get my head around the wedding stuff. I'm kind of hoping the bride-head will kick in sooner rather than later, but at least I'm relaxed about it all. So far the most fun has been DF & I coming up with kitsch songs to walk down the aisle to - so far the winner is "I'm on my way" by the Proclaimers. So we have a way to go...
Em - poor little Tom, his cough sounds awful. Hopefully he's on the mend for you soon. The Bye Elmo" thing is very cute though.
Sacha - yum for the Salmon. and well done on taking the MCN plunge, you are a braver girl than I. Still no new teeth here, and so no idea why I'm getting such cranky nights, although he isn't always bad.
Sarah - yay for getting more teeth, I'm glad that they weren't too much trouble for him. And wow for the big bed. It's so interesting how differently our babies all develop, Bayleigh has so many more words than Liam, and there's no way I could put L in a big bed. In fact, if I didn't know better, I'd say Bayleigh was months older than Liam, he sounds so much more advanced. We do have a couple of words - "shooesss" and "bye" are big favourites at the moment, and "ty" for sky, and something starting with b for Bird. So we're getting there, and it's fantastically cute.
Mel - you are a wonder woman coping with two toddlers for such long stretches at a time. Your DH must be getting back just in time for Christmas??
Jess - wow, I still can't believe how quickly your pg has gone. I'm so looking forward to hearing your announcement. THe B12 deficiency is a pain for you, hopefully the dr is right & it resolves quickly once your new bub is here. Sending a bit of a grrr to your DH though, hope he pulls his socks up with you & Ethan.
Raels - hang in there sweetie.
Hi to everyone else, hope you're all well.
Hi everyone!
I am so unorganised for xmas, not sure how and when it is all going to happen, but hey it always does!
Sacha - Thanks for the suggestions. Lucas does always still have one of the white noise tracks off sounds for silence on....really just to block out noise, not sure if he really needs it but its become a habit to put it on and we are too scared to ever not put it on! What you do to salmon sounds like what i do to chocolate...tim tams atm! Oh and why must people drive cars and make noise while our kids sleep? Very inconsiderate, especially our garbage truck that comes at lunch time!
Em- How sad about the santa photo! I know so many people that has happened to this year though so yoiu're not alone. How funny though, Lucas was obsessed by elmo when he was waiting in line to get his photo done too! I'm thinking about getting him one for xmas, but i know the novelty will wear off and they are pretty expensive. How cute is it that all these kids can say so much now! They are not our little babies anymore are they? Do you have any plans for number 2? I hope Tom is ok, its horrible when they are sick and you cant help them! How are you coping as a cricket widow so far?
Jan - very exciting that you have a venue! Sounds ace! I think "I'm on my way" would be hilarious! It took us ages to pick a song, we ended up with "Islands in the stream" by the Bee gees!
Mel - You are amazing! I had a tear thinking of you kissing the kids good night! I am so emotional lately for some reason!
Jess - Good luck Jess...you sound like a bit of a wonder woman yourself at the moment.
Ok that's it from me for now, i'm off to write a shopping list!
Mel - Welcome to the world of MCN! I have the BabyBeehinds AIO, in the smooth and the minkee material, and I have one pocket nappy - a Happy Heiny which is super cute but I dont love. What type did you get?
Megan - Good luck with the Christmas shopping! My sister got Tom the talking Elmo - hopefully he will love it. Even if he doesn't I want to play with it. So cute! We currently don't have any plans for #2.. I think I am still getting over my morning sickness the first time around! I think we would like to start trying when Tom is about 3. How about you? Is there any "reason" for this emotional state of yours that you need to share with me??;). How's it going living with your parents? Is that the reason for your emotional state prehaps? Cricket is going so so. I can cope perfectly well with the training and the Saturday's away playing - its all the other crap. DH does the turf wicket so there always seems to be some excuse to be down there. I told him I think its time some of the younger guys without kids step up and help out, but I think it fell on deaf ears!
Jan - yay yay yay on setting a date! Which winery is it? Not Morning Star Estate? I have been to 2 weddings there and it is AMAZING. We went to another wedding in Mornington but I cant think of the name of the estate off the top of my head. My sister is having the same issues with dress shopping etc. She knows /she needs to get her butt into gear soon (hers is the 17/10) but needs to have Christmas over and done with first. Its great that Liam is enjoying daycare - gives you a better piece of mind doesn't it. (I loved your traitor comment). So far we haven't had to put Tom into daycare but work is talking about me doing another day next year and I think it will be too much to rely on family all the time. None of the centres in our town are closing, and they have spots available but centres in towns nearby will most likely be shutting, so I think the kids will be moved to the spots here.
Well, I am working the next 3 days so I really should be spending this time doing housework/ironing/washing/getting dinners ready/bags packed etc  but instead I've been sitting in front of the computer. I have had a bit of bad morning - I put Tom into time out in his room because of his hitting and biting, and I feel terrible! It was just heartbreaking but I didn't know what else to do. Jan gave me some fantastic advice in a thread I wrote about it. Does anyone else have biting/hitting/aggression issues? Please don't tell me its just me! He is generally a really well behaved little boy but lately things seem to be getting a little out of control. I don't want him to turn into one of 'those kids' if you know what I mean! How is everyone else dealing with discipline issues? This mummy stuff is hard sometimes....
Mel, I have two Baby Beehinds AIOs. Just arrived today, though I haven't used them yet. Which leads me to...
Em, I need some more advice. I tried them on Autie (medium because she is still under 11kg) but they seem a little too low in the front (about inch and half under her belly button) Does this seem right to you? I'm thinking I should send them back and get large even though they fit ok everywhere else. What do you think? Sorry to hear you're having a bad day :wall: These can be trying times huh? I haven't had aggression issues with Autie touch wood, but she does have tannies when she doesn't get her own way sometimes. So far distraction is working most of the time - 'No, you just can't have/do that... but you can do/have this instead'. I know it's not quite the same as the problems you're having but I will think on it some more as I don't have long to post atm. How is Tom doing?
Jan, how exciting to have a venue picked! I think you're being most sensible in you're relaxed approach to it all. After all, it's meant to be fun not a chore. I like your song choice too - more fun! I walked down the aisle to Enya's 'May It Be' and our wedding dance was Metallica's 'Nothing Else Matters' - two different ends of the spectrum! LOL All Dan's mates were congratulating him on his ability to get some Metallica in there, but in actual fact, it was my idea (I guess I don't seem the type to go for that genre, but I'm pretty eclectic) So great that Liam is enjoying care, do you feel really comfy with the teachers in his room too?
Megan, had any luck with the day sleeps? BTW, I love 'Islands in the Stream'!
Raels, hope you feel like jumping in with us again soon, even if only a short one. Personals not required...LOL
Hi everyone else. Hope you are all having a happy, peaceful day.
Sach - i would probably upsize. i get large for Tom even though he is still under 11kg too. I always found with any nappy - cloth or disposable - we needed to get up one.
Only quick post - 2 seconds of sanity! Will try to come back later
Evening ladies Just a quick post i will be back, just wanted to let you know its me Sarah,:) I have changed user names, I will be back hopefully soon to do personals
Sarah
Em - You sound like a lovely wife dealing well with all the cricketing! It is so hard when you dont get much of a break even if we do love our little cherubs time away from them is also bliss!! DH is constantly building our house, which obviously i cant complain about but oh to shop without Lucas!! Which cricket club does he play for? No news re my emotional state!! I think i am just needing a break atm and i dont know i think you just get more emotional in general once you have a baby. We will actually start trying again next year though....scares the hell out of me, but we will!! By the way what was the advice on the time out/discipline? Lucas seems to bite when he is over tired. The little bugger dit me the day before my brothers wedding so i had a nice hicky on my shoulder for it. Looked like a tart! He is generally not really aggressive but god he will not get the hang of the word "no"... does my head in when he does the same things over and over that he is not allowed to do!!
Sacha - The day sleeps are still unpredictable but i think i just have to live with it. Most of the time its a bit over an hour and usually after swimming i get 2! Woo hoo! Still doesnt seem enough for his age but he is fine with it so i guess i should be. All your nappy talk sounds very confusing.
